The garden has not been maintained, we suggest tea, coffee and water to be provided complimentary, better choice of food in the menu. Staff wasn't updated that we had requested breakfast till we told them.
- Detry (8/5): Great central location with spacious rooms - Villa Hiriketiya is perfectly located right in the center, within walking distance of everything, which made getting around super easy. The bedrooms are large and spacious, and the pool area is really nice overall. A few small points to improve: the pool could use a bit more regular maintenance and vacuuming, and unfortunately, treatment was added in the morning so we couldn’t use it during most of our stay. It can also be a bit noisy since it’s on the main road. The bed was very soft, which might not suit everyone. Overall, a great stay mainly thanks to the unbeatable location and spacious setup.

We didn’t spend very much time time there as there is so much to do in hirketya, but a great base The pool area wasn’t as nice as other places we had stayed in Sri Lanka
- Danielle (10/5): The perfect Hiriketiya base. - We stayed four nights at Hiriketiya Villa and loved it. The room was large and clean (and cleaned during our stay) and the shower was good and hot. The gardens and pool are well looked after. There are only four rooms so it feels really quiet even though you are in the centre of the hustle and bustle of Hiriketiya. There is a great roti hut a couple of steps to the right as you leave and the beach is approximately a thirty second walk. We didn't use a tuktuk or any transport the whole time we stayed in Hiri, all restaurants are walking distance. You can have breakfast if you wish and they have a few soft drinks and water available if you need. The people are kind and generous. Always around but never in your face. We'd definitely stay again. Two or three tiny things that I think would improve the guest experience (but this is me being really picky!!) 1 ) A mirror in the main room rather than just the bathroom - particulary as there were four of us getting ready at the same time/ 2 ) Net curtains so that we could be in the room but have the dark drapes open for some natural light. 3 ) A small kettle/fridge station for keeping water cool/having a hot drink when you want.

Appears worn down (pool, garden, shower etc. A/C noisy as an old diesel engine and only full power cooling or heat. The breakfast was prepaid non-refundable and definitely not worth paying for. Minimal breakfast without variation topped up with finding pieces of a plastic bag in the egg on the last day.

The room was big and felt clean, however we experienced cockroaches entering the room which was unpleasant. There is no curb in the shower, meaning the entire bathroom floor is wet after a shower. Staff speak little English and kept their distance for most part. It’s an ok place to stay for a few days, but not sure we’d come back if visiting Hiriketiya again.

Power was cut in the night and we needed to charge our stuff, there was no electricity unfortunately. This issue is common for the whole village, though, not only in Villa Hiriketiya

Slept well in their comfy beds! - Property is located within 30 seconds of the entrance to Hiriketiya beach and super close to all the cafes and shops! Has everything you need from a pool to cold AC and breakfast. The beds are really comfortable. I think there was a miscommunication between breakfast. There is no office/front desk as it seems a family runs it so you might have to wait if you need someone.

- Meike (9/5): Top plek - Wat een top afsluiting hebben we hier gehad tijdens onze vakantie door Sri Lanka. Zaten met twee kleine kinderen in de familie kamer. Deze was zeer ruim en zeer netjes. Heerlijk warme douche, goede airco, grote fijne bedden. Hebben geen ontbijt hier gedaan, zitten overal leuke plekjes in de straat en een straat verderop. Echt een aanrader om hier te zitten. Je zit middenin de hoofdstraat, drie min lopen naar het strand en toch is het rustig in de tuin. Het zwembad is een super aanvulling. Voor de deur stond een super vriendelijke tuk tuk meneer die ons meermaals ergens heen heeft gebracht en zo goed met kinderen was. Eigenlijk alles was top op deze locatie.

- Kate (10/5): Lovely and relaxing stay close to the beach! - We loved our stay here! We had read some reviews that weren’t as positive but beyond the Wi-Fi not being the best, it was perfect! It has a really relaxing outdoor area, a lovely warm outdoor shower and a great pool. The room was very spacious, our AC kept the room very cool and the bathroom had a large shower and modern finishes. The bed was super comfortable with very soft bed linens. I miss my pillow already. The property is just minutes from many restaurants and Hiriketiya beach. We wouldn’t change a thing. A mini fridge in the room would have been nice but nothing else!

De ligging is op loopafstand van alles en heel fijn ten opzichte van de leuke eettentjes en het strand. Het personeel is lief en bieden aan je kamer tussendoor schoon te maken als je dit wil. Het zwembad is schoon, er liggen inderdaad losse tegeltjes, hier moet je een beetje op letten maar was voor ons geen probleem. Niks, super!!

Given the price, breakfast should have been included. Some (small) maintenance issues, such as loose pool tiles or a broken gutter, could easily be fixed. Fridge in room would would be helpful.
- Becky (7/5): Good - We were returning to Villa Hiriketiya after staying previously 6 years ago. After reading some mixed recent reviews we were a little apprehensive about our stay. However we enjoyed a great 6 days. It’s true the accommodation is looking a little tired probably due to the fact it’s being knocked down soon so they don’t want to fix the short term problems. But the staff were super friendly and helpful. We didn’t suffer any power cuts as others have mentioned when we were there and the location is unbeatable for Hiriketiya. Right in the centre, yet quiet at night. With a beautiful garden, pool and less than 5minutes walk to the beach for less than £60 a night you can’t expect much more! Some small touch ups - fixed pool tiles, deep clean of bathrooms would make a massive difference

Hotel was basic but was perfect for our one night stay The aircon didn’t work so the room was extremely hot. Lighting in the room was also very dark. Bathroom set up meant the shower flooded the floor and was very slippery after. Overall hotel looked a bit run down, pool tiles falling off etc - but we was told by other guests they were knocking the hotel down and rebuilding so wasn’t doing any repairs.

- Lucy (6/5): A comfortable stay, nice for the price - The staff at Villa Hiriketiya were very attentive as soon as we arrived, and helped with any requests we had. The room was spacious, and the garden and pool were very comfortable to relax around. We had a very happy week there. There are a few minor issues with the property - it's a little bit tired in places - loose tiles on the edge of the pool, the steps into the pool coming loose, that sort of thing. The rooms were cleaned regularly and the staff seem to be taking good care, but overall it seems like whoever owns the place should invest a little money in upkeep. Bugs are obviously a part of staying in Sri Lanka, but we had a few cockroaches turn up in our bathroom which needed dealing with, and that didn't happen anywhere else we stayed. Hiriketiya also has an issue of the boom in development and tourism in the town, which means over-demand for electricity and so we did have intermittent power cuts as our place and other nearby accommodation jostled for energy. There are also some nights where loud music was playing til quite late - it wasn't something which caused us a major issue as we slept well every night, but lighter sleepers might struggle with it. It's just part of Hiri's buzzy, busy atmosphere.

- Lou (3/5): Disappointed - avoid staying here for now... - Location excellent - just down the road from the beach and all the best restaurants, plus the local shop. Sri Lanka is suffering from daily rolling blackouts across the country - if you choose to stay here, you should be aware that the property has no generator, and you will likely come back to your room to find: no aircon, no working shower (because it is electric) and no lights. The owner and management are fully aware of the situation but they will not give you any info about it, so you'll have to discover for yourself that it's an issue. The fan was also broken in my room and had to be fixed. In addition, the caretaker family are lazy and unhelpful - rooms are supposed to be cleaned every 48 hours (they were not), only one toilet roll was provided for a 6 day stay and beach towels were not provided in a timely fashion. Security is also an issue - the caretaker family allowed men into the property on Friday evening to drink around the bar (they deny this but it is 100% true). Be aware there are also no safes in the room so you'll have to either keep your valuables on your or lock them up in a case. Overall we were massively disappointed with this property and would not advise staying here.
- Stacey (9/5): Gorgeous villa in perfect location - We'd seen this villa on a previous visit and knew we wanted to stay here. The pool area is gorgeous and it is in a perfect location for the beach and restaurants. The room was lovely with high ceilings. There were a few power cuts while we were there which you can expect in the area so it means a cold shower every once in a while but that's fine when it's 30 degrees outside. The owners were always around if you needed anything. A fridge in the room would have been a nice addition to have cold water but other than that a great villa and would recommend.

- Deirdre (4/5): Bad value - Location was great, very close to the beach. Pool and garden were very good. Not good value for money. The room was very dark and the bathroom had a sewage smell. The shower hardly worked. Although the room is large there was very little furniture to place suitcases etc, nowhere to sit in the bedroom. No bins. Management not very engaging with guests. Overall quite dissatisfied. It’s a pity because it wouldn’t take a lot of effort or expense to improve it greatly. This place has great potential but too expensive for what is currently provided

- Sejal (10/5): Ideal location and lovely stay - Perfect location, spacious rooms with good aircon and WiFi and a very clean pool. The team at villa hiriketiya are so helpful and on hand 24/7 to help with anything you need (extra beach towels, arranging transport for the day etc). The location of the accommodation is ideal as it it on the main road leading up to hiriketiya beach (less than a five minute walk), and close to some amazing restaurants, bars and cafes, small shop and ATM. Definitely worth staying here if you looking to stay in Hiriketiya. Nothing - it was perfect.
- Justin (10/5): Great place, superb location, wonderful hosts. - The pool is lovely and Mali and her family are so welcoming and helpful you just want to stay longer. Breakfast in the garden was really nice. The location is also great, not far at all from the beach. Absolutely bloomin loved our stay here, you will too. Nothing at all.
