Guest Reviews
- Ricarda (10/5): Great location & host! - Ana communicated clearly and was very hospitable. She arranged private transportation from the airport as well.Great location, walking distance to beaches, Old Town & ferry port. The room was private, quiet and clean. Would definitely return.
- Jennifer (6/5): Fine if you don’t mind noise - Photos capture the room perfectly, what it doesn’t capture is noise. The accomodation is on a really busy road and dispite closing the shutters and both sets of windows, unfortuantly you cant get away from the constant noise of vehicles at all hours. My husband and I booked 2 nights here regrettably and after not sleeping the entire night, decided to cut our losses and book alternative accomodation for the second night.
- Christopher (10/5): - A clean and spacious room with lots of character. Ana the host was very helpful.
- Larissa (10/5): - Loved this place! Can’t wait to stay again!
- Elveera (6/5): - Ok
- Brian (6/5): - Ok somewhat run down area but felt safe
- Lindsay (8/5): - It is walking distance from the palace and the port. There is no staff on hand. They just meet you at the room when you check in. The a/c did not work well. The room was very hot. To be fair it was during an exceptionally time in Split.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Our check-in with Ana was very smooth and she helped us with some mapping questions. The room was pretty and spacious. The area around the place was a little dated and dirty but didn’t feel unsafe.
- Aleksandra (10/5): Fantastisk stay! - Super service!!!!
Arrange taxi from airport to a super price.
- Lai Wah (8/5): Great host and clean room - Excellent location. Easy walk to attractions and the waterfront where you can take a ferry to different islands. A supermarket is right around the corner for added convenience. The room was very clean, air conditioning was good and the shower was strong. The host was very attentive and helpful. The prior arrangement for check in was clearly given and straightforward. Communication via WhatsApp was good and promptly responded. Overall, a good stay.
- Luciano (8/5): - It’s an old building behind the police office. Maybe safe but dumpy zone. 10’ away of main attractions
- Rosana (10/5): Excelente localização - Local super confortável, perto de tudo e anfitriões super cordiais e prestativas
- Scott (10/5): - The owners were delightful
- STEPHEN (8/5): - Big comfortable accommodation in venerable estate near old town.
- Graham (10/5): - Great clean comfortable quiet. Short walk to train and port-waterfront and dining options. Grocery nearby. TOK restaurant nearby good for breakfast lunch dinner. Would stay again.
- queenofeverything007 (10/5): Amazing - Very Nice Hotel. It has amazing location. Both center and beach are very close. Room was very comfortable and we had all we need. It is in an old stone house .
Girls were very helpful and helped us with recommendations. Definitely to recommend.
- David (10/5): - The location is very central, being only a 5-10 min walk from the old city.
- Anita (8/5): - Great room, close to everything. Especially close to the train, bus and ferry stations. Thank you!
- Charles (10/5): - The place was clean and cozy and great location. The check in was easy just contact by phone or text to set up a time to check in. Great stay.
- Ian (10/5): - Lovely room, very comfortable.
- Val (10/5): - Perfect place which is close to the old city and port👍
- TwinkleMcSprite (4/5): Needs simple improvements - We booked the apartment as we were travelling as a group of 4 friends. Cannot comment on the pietra rossa rooms as they are in a totally different property.
Make sure you know what you are booking.
Ok so the apartment had good and bad points.
Pros:
The view from the apartment is beautiful
There’s a lift that takes you to the apartment which is helpful as it’s on the 10th floor from what I can remember
It’s only a 15-20 minute walk to the main centre of split
It’s only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach
A spar literally up the road
Air conditioned and a tv with plenty of channels
A large fridge
A washing machine and clothes airer are in the apartment
Beds were clean
Cons:
Noisy
Air con is only in one room
Only one wardrobe in one bedroom the other bedroom has no storage
One bedroom has a working light and a lamp and the other bedroom has no working lights nor windows
The bathroom is small, faulty and a bit dirty really
The oven and hob above don’t look like they are cleaned as there was so much dust hanging off the hob
Plug sockets and light switches hanging off the walls
No safe
Nothing to make tea and coffee
The outside of the apartment looks like Del Boys block of flats from only fools and horses - not really a problem but not what you expect on holiday perhaps
Not enough towels
Broken ornaments around the property
Some of these things wouldn’t cost a lot to fix and it would just make it tons better!!
Suggestions ~
Another wardrobe
A lamp and working light in one bedroom
Fans for the bedrooms
Replace the shower head and holder that’s faulty
Replace the shower doors
Paint the walls to freshen it up
Add more towels
Clean the hob and oven
Maybe just freshen the decor up ie ornaments that aren’t broken etc
Fix the switches hanging off the walls
Include a kettle and a safe
Personally I wouldn’t stay here again but for 3 nights it was ok. If all those things above were done I would consider it if I was coming back to split though.
The host was a nice lady and she was quite down about her property. So she wouldn’t need to feel embarrassed or ashamed if she put a little more investment into it :)
- 354huguess (8/5): Nice room - Spend 2 nights while visiting Split. Location is really convenient as it is somehow in the middle between old town and beaches. The room is big and nice decorated, bathroom is fine. Staff is very kind. There is only one negative point if you are sensitive to noise, ask for sure to become a bedroom on the backside. For the rest I can recommend, A/C and Wifi work perfectly.
- joshbridge70 (10/5): Super Modern, Great Location - Ivana was kind enough to greet us in person outside of the apartments and show us in. She also provided us with tips of places to eat and things to do around Split.
The apartment is in a great location, just a 5 minute walk to Bacvice Beach, as well as a 5 minute walk to the main promenade in Split with the old town also close by. We also managed to walk up to the main lookout in the Park Suma Marjan which provided a great view of the town.
The apartment itself had obviously been refurbished recently and was extremely modern and clean. It was very hot during our stay and the air con was working exceptionally well which was great.
Would definitely recommend the Pietra Rossa for a couples getaway.
- Paul (8/5): Great stylish apartment - The apartment had a fantastic decor style to it and the check in time was very kindly moved forward.
- Laura (8/5): Very nice, great spot! - Lovely place, handy location. Very clean!
- sportguy18 (6/5): Good location but would not stay there again. - Pros: Good location, near the ferries, beach and old city. Shopping and restaurants close by. Decor pretty.
Cons: No mattress cover. The TV on the side wall so hard to watch. When you take the key with you, the refrigerator turns off. Said serviced but not really. Tea and coffee not replenished. They didn't know the situation with street parking (which is cheaper than the parking area). Not greatly helpful in terms of recommendations.
- lauratK7821GC (8/5): Great location, nice room, and extremely comfortable sleep! - After 2 weeks of adventure and moving around, I really wanted to comfortable sleep in Split, and close to the beach and bus station. This room provided all that. Although the host wasn't able to meet me, her instructions were very easy to follow and she was very helpful. The room is adorable! The bed very comfortable. And the best part was it was so close to the beach (less than 10min walk) and to the centre, and to the bus station (10min walk). The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because there weren't toiletries so I couldn't wash my hair, so I recommend the owner advertises this moving forward or supplies toiletries. I recommend this place for your stay in Split!!!
- Bobby (10/5): Great place in excellent location - Great place with a modern bathroom. You will need to have a way to contact them when you arrive as there is no reception area, but this seems common in the area. It was clean, quiet, and a ten minute walk from the busiest part of town, which was fun to explore.
- Sylviaandmatt (10/5): Wonderful stay! - My husband and I stayed here for one night before joining our cruise from split. Zarka responded quickly to us and met us right on time to check us in. The room is very charming with modern touches. Also, spacious especially the bathroom. Location is perfect! Right by the beach, port, and old town. Walkable to everywhere. I read the last few poor reviews and felt that the issue must be with the booking site they used. The pictures that were posted in the poor review did not reflect the building we stayed in at all. Highly recommend and wished we could have stayed longer! Thank you!
- David (10/5): Wonderful time. - We were welcomed by a warm host who helped us settle in. There’s a small supermarket about 1 minute walk away so any food or snacks were easy to get.
The Bistro Toc around the corner worked really well for when you wanted a local meal and not to travel all the way into the city.
The room is 10 minutes walk from the centre of Split and only 5 minutes from bacvice beach which while busy was a near perfect sandy beach.
The hotel is part of 5 rooms and the double room we had was spacious with room to rest and stop.
The bathroom was huge and the power shower was excellent.
We felt safe, comfortable and welcomed.
- hthabib83 (2/5): Room downgraded, unhelpful staff! - After wonderful 8 days in Croatia my husband and I with our 4 year old son were spending our last night in Split before flying back to London. We booked 'Deluxe Luxury Double Room' which is advertised as having a Queen bed and a sofa bed which would have perfectly accommodated the three of us. However on arrival the host/staff checking us in straight away asked if the booking was for 2 or 3 people. We had made the booking for the three of us but didn't think it would have made any difference even if it was for 2 as we had booked the specific room with sleeping space for 3. To our surprise the room allocated to us was not 'Deluxe Luxury Double Room' but the simple much cheaper 'Double Room' with only a double bed. The written confirmation did not mean anything at check-in. Calling our booking site (Hotels.com) and getting them to confirm to the host/staff that we had indeed booked the bigger room did not make any difference at all. Their attitude was 'this is the room we are giving you take it or go somewhere else'. We were not even offered a chair to sit on, for 45mins our little boy sat at the steps outside the property in 35c while we tried to arrange alternate accommodation with the booking site. The explanation offered to us from them for the 'mix-up' was that because the booking was for 2 persons we were allocated 'Double Room' which did not make any sense at all. While waiting we saw a couple go in the Deluxe Luxury Room which confirmed our suspicion that they had actually rebooked the room at higher price and therefore bumped us down to the other room. We were staying just 1 night which probably also affected the owner's decision to give the bigger room to other guests who they confirmed were staying for 4 nights.
From what I could see of the rooms while waiting, they looked nicely furnished and comfy.
I would advise to book at your own risk, if you are lucky and given the room you actually booked it will probably be a good stay but if they get higher paying or longer staying guests for your dates you might be in for a nasty surprise like us.
- TravelOftenEatLots (2/5): Seriously needs a sense check- Avoid booking - you will be disappointed - Booked a room with sofa bed and paid/charged extra but did not mind due to the type of room I wanted- However because the booking said 2 adults the host moved us to a double bed with no sofa bed!!! Just to make extra money!!
I could of paid a lower price for a double room only and booked it my self if I wanted to stay in that!
Called hotel.com and had to cancel and book another hotel as this hotel did not have the room I had booked!!!! Stupid money making people!
This is common with this hotel as they go for max money than what the guest has chosen and paid for!
Wasted half a day of our holiday and stress and worry with a 3 year old!
I would avoid!!! I don’t think the hotel understands that either they honour the room booked and charged accordingly or they charge the same price for all rooms!!! If they want to switch guest around and mess them about with their time and holiday!!!
- airheart_ash (10/5): Just perfect, close to the city but in a leafy quiet street - Located next door to the police station, you can't have better neighbours. Parking was difficult but we were lucky and found one just around the corner. You don't pay after 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday is free but you have to pay from 6.30am weekdays. The room is beautifully decorated, fabulous shower and comfy bed. You ring your hostess when you get there as there is no concierge but a smiley friendly girl who speaks excellent English takes 15 mins to turn up and let you in. Then we came and went as we pleased. There's a public beach nearby and an easy walk into the city and around the coastline. Try the restaurants suggested by our hostess and the ones in the small road into town, including Bistro Toc for breakfast. Thank you, We will be back.
- Kenneth (8/5): Perfect location - Beautiful room . This place is super close walking distance to bistros and the coast / beaches . Super safe , next to the police
- Melinda (10/5): - We loved the location of this property, the friendliness of the staff and cooperation with some over and above requests that we presented. They were always cooperative and made it a joy to connect with them. The view was wonderful from the bedroom and living area.
- Trevor (10/5): Excellent Accomodation - I booked in to Pietra Rossa because I had stayed there before and new it was excellent accommodation.
On this occasion the shower in the bathroom was malfunctioning so I was informed two days before arriving that I would be staying at the Heritage Palace Varos. This hotel is also exceptional and I was delighted I had been upgraded.
- Ernesto (10/5): Excellent room, location and host - We arrived close to midnight and received excellent communication and care from host Marina to ensure we arrive with no problem. The location is about 7 minute walk from the bus stop and the room was wonderful. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice and well decorated room - We enjoied our stay. Location of accommodation is great, and rooms are decorated well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Split city center Apartment - the room is newly renovated and is located in the central residence area, but no free parking around the apartment, be careful to the parking bill, they really check in the very morning.
- Hilkka (8/5): Oman tiensä kulkijalle - Ihana, puhdasvetinen uimaranta ja vanhan kulttuurin nähtävyydet kävelyetäisyydellä, jos pystyt nousemaan 2x10 porrasaskelta vanhassa rakennuksessa. Huone täysin moderni ja toimiva, tyylikäs sisustus.
- ilana (10/5): Great hotel - Very nice and clean apartment 10 min walk to old town, very convenient location . Ivan was very helpful and accommodating. Nice shower and comfortable bed. Great stay.
- Rachel (8/5): Perfect location - Perfectly between the main beach area and Diocletian's palace. Easy walk to the main bus/ferry station as well. Room was extremely clean and came with a small fridge that didn't work perfectly but was cold enough. Bathroom was very nice with a super cool shower. Would definitely stay here again if I come back to Split! To check-in, use facebook messenger to contact the property manager and he meets you at the front door to let you in and show you the ins and outs of both the hotel and the area.
- JPS (10/5): Trip in Split - Gute Lage - Zur Altstadt/Hafen/Stadtstrand.Frühstück ca. 200 m entfernt in einem Restaurant. Kann man. Muss man nicht. Sehr eintönig auf die Dauer.Immer das gleiche.
- Aki (10/5): Luxurious stay - One of the nicest rooms we have stayed during our holiday. Room was elegant and nicely decorated. Everything was new and clean. Contacting the staff was easy and fast and got some good tips about the town and restaurants too. The accommodation was in a quiet street just outside to old town. A short walk to the port and old town. A perfect location. Even though there was no breakfast included, there's a few nice restaurants close by that serve also breakfast.
- TANIA (10/5): Sensacional - Muito legal,
