Lamentable.
- lester (7/5): Close to shopping and great value. - We were upgraded to a bigger room due to a cable TV issue with the first room. It is very difficult not to have cable
TV in a hotel room. Value was good. With Uber in San Salvador, nothing is far. Restaurants in walking distance. Great place for a short stay. Silvia was a great everything person at the hotel.
Coffee was very good at breakfast. Very close to the "Centro Commercial" which is Spanish for a shopping mall with a movie theater. I would stay there again. Air conditioning worked great. Very good value. The internet Wi-Fi and cable TV signal could have been better. Cell phone signal (Tigo, Moviestar and Claro) in El Salvador is very good. Hot water heater could have been bigger.

- santosh159 (2/5): Not sure why this place is highly rated - Not sure why this place is number 4th ranked hotel in San Salvador. The rooms are dirty with clear signs of water damage. Staff doesn’t know anything. The only good thing about the place is location. That’s it. For slightly more you can stay at Hilton or Marriott, infinitely better properties

- 766edwinf (10/5): We felt at home! - Small hotel with incredible personnel. My family and I just spent part of our vacation in this little gem of a hotel. Comfortable beds, super clean, delicious breakfast, and located close to everything. Thank you Grace, Karla ,Daniel and staff for making sure that our stay was a memorable experience. We want and will come back!
- Larryjeanette (10/5): Incredible owners, incredible staff - From the day I got there, March 3, I felt so welcomed, it felt like home away from home. The rooms were very comfortable, and the breakfast was tremendous. Thank you to Carlos, Juan,Selena and Adriana, you made my stay wonderful. As the Corona virus showed up and I couldn't leave the country, the owners Grace and Daniel kept the place open for me and my translator. Everybody took very good care of us. I got a humanitarian flight home March 30. I will be back in El Salvadore, and I will stay there again, I highly recommend this place , truly a remarkable place , I will never forget the owners and staff. God bless you all.
- leksic1 (8/5): Perfect location - This hotel was located in a great spot in San Salvador. We booked it so that we would be closer to the airport but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the location is central to a huge mall where we could spend some time and have access to food in a safe setting.
The hotel is beautiful and we were served breakfast in the morning. I found it to be one of the better hotels for its setting and decor. It had a homey feeling rather than a big hotel. The service from the staff was personal and very helpful. The rooms are decorated like a fancy home but the price was unbeatable.
There are a few seating areas in the hotel where you can spend time reading or relaxing. There is a very small gym for exercise as well.
- Figueroas3 (8/5): Small, Cozy Hotel - We only stayed one night but I was very impressed with this hotel. Can’t beat the cost compared to the other high end hotels, especially because it comes with breakfast.
The room was pretty spacious and had everything one needs at a hotel. We were very impressed how much they take care of it. Their service was probably one of the top two of my one month staying in Guatemala and El Salvador.
The only issue is that they don’t have an elevator for people who might want one. Although you don’t need it because they bring all the luggage up and down. My wife also said that the ac was a little noisy so she shut it off at night. It didn’t bother me. The hotel is like half a block away from a huge mall and one block from a few good restaurants. They also provided us with transportation to the airport for a
Very decent fee. If you’re looking for a great deal, this is it.
- JulietGC (6/5): Good stay - The amenities are great, hotel is warm and makes you feel at home, the rooms are very modern, however, the room they gave us had a humid scent, like it had been closed for a long while during a rainy season.
Breakfast was delicious, good coffee
- SlvdrnStar (10/5): Great location, services and friendly, attentive staff! - We stayed at Villa del Angel Hotel 8 days and couldn't be happier with our experience. The location is superb, right behind a large shopping mall and close to several local places to eat. Very safe area with security all throughout.
Our room was really clean throughout our stay. We asked for the romantic setup since we arrived on our anniversary. We had the breakfast everyday, which was delicious. They even made me a tortilla and brought hot sauce/chile with my meal since they knew that's how I preferred it.
Carlos and Celina and everyone we worked with was extremely helpful. They gave us tips on places to eat, areas for nightlife, etc.
The hotel arranged for our transportation from the airport and to our next destination in El Salvador: the beach! We also had laundry service while at Villa del Angel and had we needed a car, we could have rented it from the hotel as well.
They offer so many services and all with a smile! Definitely staying here when I return to San Salvador!
- HacheSivar (10/5): My go to place when visiting San Salvador - This was my second stay at Villa del Angel and the experience was excellent. The place is conveniently located and at a reasonable price. It is clean and the customer service is good. Carlos the receptionist is knowledgable and gives you good tips on how to manage in the country. I will be staying at Villa del Angel in the future.
- JoannNanaJoJo (8/5): We thought it was close to the airport, but still it was a good experience. - Our stay in San Salvador was unexpected as we missed our flight to Honduras and this was the best way to get there the next morning. I found the hotel on Trip Advisor and I thought it was close to the airport (actually a 13 mile drive). The lovely airport employee for Avianca told us that it was in the city and found a kind and reliable cab driver to take us to the hotel and pick us up the next morning. We arrived at 10 p.m. and entered through the garage. The hotel felt very secure. The common areas were lovely and the rooms (on the top floor) were modest and clean. We were glad we had help with our luggage from the hotel employee and our cab driver. Hot showers were available although the room was hot when we arrived. The beds were fine and the room cooled off during the night. We were sorry we had to leave before the included breakfast. Traffic is heavy early in the morning. We were advised to get to the airport two hours early. Good advice as it turned out. We had a little time to eat breakfast at the airport and enjoy the excellent coffee.
- RR2018USA (10/5): Great experience - I stayed at Villa Del Angel for a week and was very happy with my stay. The staff was extremely courteous and the room was very clean. I felt comfortable while I stayed there and the hotel is conveniently located near many shops and transportation was extremly easy to walk to.
- joseoA3650UB (10/5): Wonderful place! - We spent two nights at this hotel during our family visit in El Salvador. The receptionist was very cordial and professional. Wi-Fi and cable was good. We did not have any problems. Room service was great! Very clean room and we did not have to ask anything. It was close to the Galleria Mall and security was helpful. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting El Salvador.
- noraderobles (8/5): People is the most value tresor in this Hotel - Our stay at this hotel was a good experience. The best thing was the people who assisted us. It has an ideal location, close to shops and Catholic churches. The excellent breakfasts. Highly recommended.
- howardb156 (10/5): A great introduction to El Salvador - We are so pleased we chose Villa del Angel as our base for our visit to El Salvador.
We had read numerous reports about the need to take care when visiting El Salvador, but our concerns seemed unfounded - this positive view is almost entirely due to the warm welcome and marvellous service we enjoyed at the Villa del Angel. In fact, we wish that we had spent more time here as there was much more to see and do that we could not fit in during our short visit.
The hotel is built around a garden and terraces (you can choose where you take breakfast), and is full of light and calm. It is centrally located in a relatively safe-feeling part of town, with a shopping mall, the Galerias, almost next door, and easy access to restaurants and food outlets. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a private balcony.
From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Celina (who kindly gave my wife charming Spanish lessons) and by her colleague Carlos, we felt completely at home. Breakfasts were excellent, (thank you Fatima) with a good choice and excellent coffee. Food is also available on request throughout the day and evening. Grace, whose English is immaculate, was a tremendous help in organising trips and reservations. We visited the Ruta des Flores and the Ruta Archeologica with Eduardo, an accomplished driver, who good-humouredly put up with our frequent requests for photo stops. In fact everyone we encountered at Villa del Angel was warm and friendly.
One word of advice - book any taxis at least 15 minutes earlier than required - the El Salvador concept of timekeeping differs from what we expect in Europe!
- Xhara71 (8/5): Friendly helpful staff, but room 1 can be quite noisy - Stayed here for one night during a 24 hour stopover in El Salvador. Overall I was pleased with my choice, the staff are friendly and helpful (very little English spoken knowing some Spanish is very useful) and it's in a quiet and safe area of the city. I used them to pick me up/take me to the airport and I rented a car from them as well.
My gripes are these; I got room 1 (which is for 5!) This is the room nearest the reception area and suffers from periodic noise of other guests passing and the staff (particularly in the morning when they set up breakfast) Its also the one with the door bell although that only went off once and that was between 6-7. So ear plugs are recommended! The car wasn't in the best condition. It said the tyre pressure needed checking (they were fine) and the wiper blades needed replacing a long time ago.
On the plus the pick up at the airport was fine ($28, so competitive with a taxi) and the breakfast is included and consists of 5 choices, American, Continental, Salvadorian, Ranch and a light breakfast. I took the Salvadorian (see photo) and it was hot and tasty.
- 163fernandl (10/5): Very quiet little hotel - Place is in a quiet location, and de double glass windows shiels almost all noise. People at the reception are extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and adequately furnished. They have a little fridge to stock yourself, air conditioning and free WiFi. A shopping mal with good restaurants is half a block away. We enjoyed our stay very much and for sure choose the same place to stay when we go back to San Salvador.
- Daisy_lalala (8/5): Comfortable Stay - I stayed at Villa del Angel and highly recommend it. The room was spacious, clean, and the beds comfortable. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I will definitely stay here next time I'm in El Salvador.
- 881rickyr (8/5): Great, courteous experience and great installations. - The Hotel has everything I could have wanted for a comfortable trip. I was impressed by the friendliness and helpful of the staff. The room was very comfortable and clean. This hotel has a great and safe location, near to a mall, I love the modern looks.
- 13javierz (10/5): Good service is their thing - Always very good treatment, always good service, and they always try to make you feel at home. Or actually, better than at home.
The quality of the beds and pillows far above the ordinary. I slept as a king.
The cleanliness had absolutely no faults - I could gladly let my ten month baby play around on the ground. A nice and tidy place with nice environment.
A big plus - they also have car rental.
Breakfast good but maybe a bit too small portion. The drinking water costs money.
But these two small disadvantages are not sufficient to take away the top rating they receive from me.
It's a clear "five-hotel".
- weatherman1974 (10/5): A Comfortable and Productive Stay - I chose Villa del Angel Hotel for five non-consecutive nights in February 2017 as part of a multi-city tour of El Salvador. The location of the hotel in San Salvador and the high ranking of the hotel here on TripAdvisor were the two main reasons for me choosing this lodging.
Using the e-mail address (info@villadelangelhotel.com) listed on the hotel's official website, I sent an e-mail requesting a reservation for my desired dates of stay. I quickly heard back from Carlos Barrera and Grace Moncada, who informed me that my desired room (Standard Individual Room) was available and that my credit card details were needed to pay a deposit and secure my reservation. After providing these details and paying the deposit ($115.64), I received a voucher confirming my reservation. At this time, I also requested a transfer from the airport to the hotel, and was told that the hotel's driver would be waiting for me when I arrived and exited the airport.
When I arrived at the airport and exited the terminal, the hotel's driver (Eduardo) was waiting for me and holding a sign with my name on it. The drive from the airport to Villa del Angel Hotel took 50 minutes in moderate traffic. During the check-in process, I paid the balance of my reservation ($173.46) and the cost of the airport pick-up ($28).
The bedroom of my room (#3) featured a comfortable king-size bed and three pillows. The top sheet was of great quality (but a little thin), and since I wasn't sure when the last time the blue blanket on the bed was laundered (a typical conundrum in any hotel in any nation), I simply didn't use it. A padded rocking chair, work desk with chair, storage closet with two security safes, satellite television, and mini-fridge were also present. The wall-mounted air conditioner was cold and powerful. One complimentary bottle of water was provided daily.
In the bathroom, there was good water pressure in the shower and ample hot water from the dial-your-preferred-temperature water heater box. Soap dispensers were mounted in the shower and near the sink. Towels were of great quality with no holes or stains. Housekeeping did a good job freshening the bathroom and bedroom daily, and US-style power outlets were found throughout the entire room.
In the mornings, breakfast consisted of five choices: American, Continental, Salvadorean, Rancherito, and Light. And each morning, I chose the Salvadorean: scrambled eggs, rice with beans, fried plantain, bread, cheese, fresh-squeezed orange juice (with pulp), and great coffee. At my request, the hotel provided Splenda in the mornings for my coffee, which I really appreciated.
Other amenities provided by the hotel were 24-hour security and a common computer for guest use in the lobby, equipped with Wi-Fi. The Galerias Mall was located nearly next door to the hotel, with a Wendy's and Super Selectos supermarket only a five-minute walk away.
The real superstar of Villa del Angel Hotel was Eduardo, the hotel's exclusive driver and tour guide. Through Grace Moncada, I requested a tour of Planes de Renderos, Puerta del Diablo, and Parque El Boqueron, and for a separate day, a tour of the Joya de Ceren and San Andres ruins. Even though he is a young guy (probably in his early 20s) and doesn't speak much english, for both of these tours ($50 for the first and $45 for the second), Eduardo was a knowledgeable and patient guide. He was also tasked with transporting me from San Salvador to Suchitoto ($55) to begin the next phase of my tour of El Salvador. And not only was he on time for my pick-up at the airport on the day that I arrived, he was two minutes early for my pre-arranged 5am pick-up at the hotel and transport to the airport on the day of my departure back to the United States (an additional $28).
Based on my experience at the hotel and Eduardo's performance, I have no problems with rating Villa Del Angel Hotel "Excellent" here on TripAdvisor. This hotel will be ideal lodging for Americans, Europeans, or others wishing to spend time in San Salvador to tour the city and nearby sights in the countryside.
