Guest Reviews
- F7273GLcarolynt (10/5): A Dream Fullfilled - I cannot say enough about our wonderful stay with the Sauper Family. The hotel is so quaint and beautiful. Very clean, quiet, and had everything you could ask for. The food was beyond amazing. The staff and family were friendly, kind and concerned about our needs. I would highly recommend them to anyone visiting Zell am See. The memories will last forever.
- 142camys (10/5): wonderful stay at Hotel St Georg - my experience was exceptional from start to finish. The hospitality truly stood out — every member of the staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making guests feel welcome.
The atmosphere of the hotel is cozy and inviting, and everything was handled with great care and professionalism. Whether it was small details or larger requests, the team consistently went above and beyond.
Overall, my stay was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend Hotel St. Georg to anyone visiting Zell am See, especially if you value excellent service and a friendly, personal touch.
- mattiasosara (10/5): Ski vacation with the family, the hotel is close to the lift up. Easy to stock ski equipment. The spa is very good! - Perfect hotel with all details taken into consideration-100 % satisfied! Very clean, cosy atmosphere, nice staff and good breakfast and meals.
- m900ule (10/5): Excellent location, spacious & clean room with a very good breeakfast available. - Enjoyed our 2nd visit to the St Georg - had a spacious room (308) , very clean with comfortable beds - traitional decor.
The hotel location is perfect (for us!) - less than a 5 minute walk down the hill to the cityXpress gondela - and a couple of minutes more to the town centre bars and restaurants. Getting back - if you want to avoid the walk up the hill with ski's & boots - you can jump off 'blue7' a little early and your just across the road from the hotel!
We stayed B&B- excellent choice at breakfast, service from the staff was very good too. We didn't try restaurant in the evening. The hotel bar was very quiet on the occasion we came back for a drink there.
The Spa area was excellent too for a quick relax after the slopes.
- MySloeLink (10/5): Almost perfect - We really enjoyed staying here, it was a really friendly, traditional style hotel. Staff were exceptionally helpful. Well located for the City Express lift only about 250m away. I know everything’s a bit of a trudge after a day’s skiing and you’re in your ski boots but this wasn’t too bad at all!
Good breakfast spread. Good wellness facilities (pool, sauna, gym). We’d be delighted to stay here again.
A couple of pointers though for future residents:
They don’t seem to have spare pillows and only one thinnish one is provided per occupant. They did provide us with another one from another room but it seemed like an unusual request to them.
The room was so overheated when we arrived. The radiators were difficult to gauge how to regulate the temperature so we had to open the window whilst the radiators were on. After two days we just turned the radiators completely off and the room still seemed to be warm.
There’s no tea/coffee in the room. So if you want coffee in bed you need to wait for breakfast to be served and nip downstairs and get one. Not the worst thing in the world but not what we’re used to.
For the first two days we were woken early (well before 7) by noise. Furniture being moved/dragged around on another floor and then the cleaners bashing and crashing around our corridor at 7.30am on a Sunday morning). The furniture couldn’t have just been a guest in one room as it went on at regular intervals. One of the other guests mentioned this at reception and it stopped, so thanks for listening.
These are only minor issues and didn’t spoil our stay at all but did stand out because everything else was spot on!
- I9292QVmargareth (10/5): Ski trip - Fabulous stay at the St Georg, everything was to a very high standard. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, especially Sylvia on reception. Excellent breakfast with freshly cooked omelette. The sauna and swimming pool were very well maintained and exceeded expectations, Hopefully we'll have the opportunity to visit again.
- F1157QGsuzannec (10/5): Relaxing, friendly hotel. - Absolutely fantastic hotel. The staff were so friendly. The option to book a private spa with champagne was excellent.
We will come back.

- Lara-Elaine (10/5): - Ein schönes Hotel in klassischer Einrichtung.
- Fredrik (10/5): Excellent! - Really good service level, excellent! Perfect hotel 5 min walks from the absolutely city of Zell am See. Clean and easy park the car.
- EUGENIUSZ (10/5): - Everything was great
- 240sveins (10/5): Good location and clean rooms, friendly staff. - We enjoyed staying at the hotel. Good location for going to the town and for getting to lifts.
The only thing we noticed was that you could easily hear other people when you were in the room. But this did not bother us.
Clean room and linen.
We didn’t use the pool or sauna, but I guess this important for other people.
- stanciulescub (10/5): Very nice stay - Great experience, the staff was always helpfull and give us the best option in every request. The location is near gondolas and in a very quiet area. The rooms are spatios and well equiped in a traditional style. The city center is at 5 minutes walk distance.
Anbefales👌
- holmeswales (10/5): Great hotel, well placed very friendly staff, lovely town of Zell am See - Great hotel, very friendly staff, very good room with balcony and views of the mountains.Excellent breakfast with outside option. The hotel is well located for the town and cable cars also the Regions travel/amenities pass was ready for us the morning after arrival….it’s indispensable. An excellent holiday.
- anniemunro (10/5): Austrian hospitality - This is a beautiful traditional chalet hotel that is kept to the highest standard. Rooms are comfortable, breakfast is superb and the swimming pool is a great bonus.
The Zell am Zée Summer Card scheme which they are part of gives free access to boat trips, bus transport and cable car lifts.
I recommend a visit.
- Hans (10/5): - Sehr schöner Wellnessbereich, Gästekarte (Sommerkarte) mit attraktiven Leistungen (Bus, Bergbahn, Schifffahrt, Klamm etc.)
- Ron (10/5): - Mooie locatie en een prachtig hotel. Ontbijt was erg goed en de mensen super vriendelijk.
- Gregory (10/5): Zell am See - Beautiful run property - highly reccomend it
Tyrolean hospitality at its best
- helenl485 (10/5): The best location in Zell! - This was my second stay at the St Georg, and we will definitely stay again. So many things set this place apart from the rest: the amazing location (equidistant between the lake and the ski station) the comfortable, well equipped rooms with huge balconies, free parking, the lovely new wellness suite, and last, but definitely not least, the superb traditional Austrian food/local wines. (Make sure you try the fondue!)
On top of all this, the service and care from the whole team makes for a very relaxing experience.
Thank-you Team St Georg.
- James (10/5): - Lovely hotel with a great spa and good value for money
- C1549KFpeterh (10/5): Exceptional Hotel - Enjoyed staying here for my ski holiday. Close to City Express lift and a good locker room for skis/boots. Good size comfortable bedroom, and a pleasant bar/restaurant. This family run hotel made me feel very welcome and would stay again if I return to Zell am Zee.
- Richard (10/5): - Very friendly staff.
- Ken (10/5): - We love this place! Our second visit there. The view from our room was spectacular and so convenient to the lake. The breakfast is outstanding.
- 627CR (10/5): Fantastic hotel in Zell am See - Wonderful hotel situated slightly out of Zell am See (8 min walk to town). We had a large room with very large balcony overlooking the church.
Both us, and our two dogs were made very welcome.
The breakfast was delicious (dogs were allowed in restaurant), with everything one could possibly ask for. A chef made omelets on request, there was bacon, eggs, juice - you name it they had it.
The two receptionists were also very helpful. We extended our stay for one night without any problems and Syvia very kindly directed us to a wonderful place to take the dogs for a walk.
We were told that dogs have to have muzzles on to go on the cable cars. We found a lift up the Schmittenhohe called the trassXpress where muzzles weren't required which was great.
Would stay at this hotel again.
- Thomas (10/5): Great hotel - We had a wonderful time at St Georg hotel and extended our stay an extra Day.
Had a great room with large balcony overlooking the Church. The breakfast was wonderful. We had our two dogs with us and Sylvia recommended a great Walk for us to take Them on. So Thanks again for that. All staff very friendly and Helpful.
- M. (10/5): - It was nice here. Thanks.
- emanky (10/5): Immaculate, well run, friendly hotel. - The staff are courteous and very helpful which made our stay very relaxing.
There was a good choice of fresh food at breakfast. We also had dinner on a few nights at the hotel and enjoyed their selection of local wines too.
The hotel is well situated for skiers with a good transport network.
- Mrjamesbees (10/5): a perfect austrian retreat 11/10 - myself and my friend have just stayed at this great hotel and had an amazing stay. we had a twin room (215) which was very spacious and comfortable. we had bed and breakfast . the Breakfast is amazing with plenty of variety and an omelette station10/10
the staff are friendly and nothing is to much to ask for all together the staff george hotel made our holiday perfect and wouldn’t hesitate to go back… a perfect base for a weeks skiiing. thankyou for your great hospitality and a great stay….just like armies in terminator : I’ll be back❤️
James and allen (the egg man)
- EoghanH_12 (10/5): One of the best hotels, I have stayed in Austria in over 30 years. What an amazing family and staff. 🇮🇪🇮🇪 - My apologies for being so late in reviewing this hotel. We, a group of 4 friends from Waterford , Ireland stayed there in January 2024.
My friends not having not previously experienced Austrian culture nor Austrian ski resorts were blown away by our week stay at the St Georg.
We arrived approximately 8pm and we were met by the ever friendly Danielle who checked us in and made us all feel so welcome.
Breakfasts as you would expect was as a typical European Buffett and the atmosphere in the dining area always relaxed, cordial and professional.
I was late one morning, but was afforded a last minute cup of coffee to wake me up. 😂
Proximity to the nearest gondola. Walk downhill for 5 mins or go the gondola and get the Schillerstraße bahn bus up to the middle station. Just follow the river directly across from the hotel. You won’t get lost. 😉
This hotel has everything . Good food, super staff, swimming pool, sauna but most of all this family knows how to run a business and continued success to them.
Having been in Austria for many years skiing, this Hotel was definitely one of my favourites.
Oh and don’t forget to say Hello to Karl at the bar. Looks like a WWE wrestler but is in fact a friendly giant.
Thanks guys.
Hopefully see ye next year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy and authentic - Amazing hotel with a cozy and authentic feel, great amenities and close to everything you need in town. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful!
- U2581OTjanec (10/5): Wonderful hotel - Another wonderful stay at the Hotel St Georg! As always the Sauper family and all their staff made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We have stayed at this hotel so many times and this time they were all so helpful as we had a very delayed flight to Salzburg arrriving at 3.00 am! A key was waiting for us and a very late breakfast was served to us without any problems. Would highly recommend this wonderful hotel!
- Yaffa (6/5): - The fact that the hotel didn’t have air condition was very frustrating and unexpected. I would expect that a 4 star hotel would have it. Otherwise no complaints.
- RichardElizabeth60 (8/5): A Clean and Convenient Family Run Hotel - For a regional hotel in Austria, it was fine. The staff were very friendly and spoke reasonable English. The hotel is mid way between the town and the chair lifts, so it was quite convenient. It also had free parking, which was great because everywhere in the town was timed and pay. There were lifts to our room.
The room was fairly basic, despite being one of their better rooms. The bathroom was spacious with a shower over a deep bath. Plenty of towels and soaps. Hairdryer. Small bar fridge but nothing in it if you like mini bar stuff. The big disappointment was no jug or coffee supplies. To be fair,it wasn’t advertised on their site, but it is such a basic requirement for travellers to be able to make a cup.
The balcony area had a great view and we enjoyed sitting there.
The area itself is stunningly beautiful. Would recommend anyone to visit - just bring your own electric jug!
- Henri (10/5): - Nice place
- asiantwin (8/5): Quaint hotel. Ask for room away from staircase - Quaint hotel, breakfast was good, walls are a bit thin.
I don’t consider myself a light sleeper, and we had a sound machine for white noise for our kid but we were woken up by sounds of people going up and down the stairs and talking at 3:30am and the sound of a cellphone alarm buzzing every 30 minutes from 3am to 4:30am… the room was next to the staircase so be aware for anyone who is considered a light sleeper. Also, as my husband pointed out, there was an extra set of doors from foyer to bed area which we forgot to close.
Staff was friendly and the breakfast had a good spread that we enjoyed.
- N1877QKcraigd (10/5): A wonderful hotel for a special birthday - A beautiful, traditional hotel in Zell am See.
We have been lucky to be able to stay here several times over the years and it truly feels like a home from home. So when it came to a discussion of ‘places to stay’ for my recent birthday there was only one place I wanted to be!
From the moment you enter the spacious lobby, you are struck by two things-how spotless the hotel is and how cosy it feels.
Reception offers a friendly greeting and efficient check in-all of the team at St Georg are amazing-super nice and very helpful with a genuine warmth not found everywhere.
Our room, 308, located on the 3rd floor was spacious and well equipped with the added bonus of a mountain view from its verandah and also had a small 2nd bedroom too so was great for myself and my family.
We previously stayed full board which is very good but this time we stayed room and breakfast only-this provided greater flexibility in terms of the choice of food from the St Georg menu (I recommend the Grostl!) but also obvious benefits if you wanted to dine out in the town where there are many nice places to eat.
The daily breakfast was amazing. Lots of choice including delicious omelettes cooked to order all served in a bustling but spacious dining room.
The recently renovated wellness area in the basement was a massive hit, particularly with our 9 year old daughter-she loved the spacious, heated pool and also the Sauna area-its really nicely done.
Perfectly located close to town but far enough away to be nice and quiet-the only thing you’ll hear is the rushing water from the mountain in the stream outside! City Express lift is barely a 5 minute walk down hill or the Ski Bus picks up 50 yards from the hotel door to take you to the summit station.
Danke schön Hotel St Georg. We had an amazing holiday with many special memories made that we’ll cherish always. The little touches you made for my Birthday we’re appreciated beyond words. We hope to return very soon
- Philippa (8/5): Delightful and welcoming - The staff were lovely and helpful, always very welcoming. Cosy, traditional rooms and lots of character. Fantastic breakfast.
- T7997OLstevek (10/5): First time in Zell - Great hotel, lovely staff always on hand.
Plentiful and varied breakfast. Lovely cooked and cold food, well staffed.
Location excellent too. 3 mins walk to CityXpress cable car and Brundl sport shop. Shop highly recommended too.
Not far from town either near plenty of bars and restaurants.
Good value. For someone who's lost count of ski trips, resorts and hotels - would highly recommend.
- adinarosu28 (10/5): Great! - Great family hotel, next to the cityexpress gongola for a wonderfull skiung zone and 3 minutes walk by the city centre. Great relaxation zone, pool, saunas. Buffet breakfast very good. Nice, clean rooms and spacious balcony. Ospitality at it’s best! Loved it!
- Z3949HWmaries (10/5): Wonderful Holiday getaway location - We stayed here during our Christmas holiday and LOVED it. The hotel itself is wonderful. The staff are charming and extremely competent. Our rooms were excellent, well maintained with plenty of storage space for our ski clothes and other items.
The hotel facilities are very nice, sauna, pool, bar, ski storage room... all of it very nice.
The restaurant is really good and the service is on point. Breakfast is lovely and the coffee is great!
The hotel is located just down the street from ski lift facilities and a few minutes' walk from the downtown business area with plenty of shops and restaurants.
It is a smaller hotel and we felt it was intimate and we were well cared for. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a family going on holiday in this area of Austria.
- JP678212 (10/5): Lovely family run hotel - This is a charming hotel well situated in Zell am See within a few mins walking distance to both the old town/lake and the City Express Gondola/ski hire shops.
The rooms are clean and spacious. The eggs at breakfast were fantastic and the sauna area well maintained.
We spent the long Christmas weekend here and booked in for their Christmas Eve Gala dinner. Their celebration with roasted chestnuts, glühwein, and carols outside made it very special. Dinner was delicious and we even had a visit from Father Christmas! I highly recommend if you are looking for a smaller, family-run hotel that is close to amenities but in a peaceful setting.
- U2581OTjanec (10/5): Traditional welcoming Austrian hotel - We have stayed at the Hotel St Georg many times when we have been visiting our family in Zell am See. It is a wonderful hotel with lovely views and is very conveniently situated for the town, the lake and the ski lifts. Daniela and her family and all her staff are so friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. Comfortable cosy bedrooms, delicious food in the restaurant and great breakfasts, a good swimming pool and sauna area. We would highly recommend this charming traditional hotel which is so well run by the Sauper family.
- wanderlust9802 (8/5): Good hotel with ample parking. - It was raining upon arrival, so the close parking was a life saver. It is an old building but well preserved and very charming. The rooms are spotless and our balcony had a lovely view. Since the weather was not condusive for walking, we ate in the hotel for dinner and were pleasantly surprised with the fare. Breakfast was also very good. Only doors slamming late & early is the only negative.
- Toni (10/5): Excellent - This hotel is clearly managed with great love. We really liked the hotel staff, the breakfast and friendliness of the staff.
- Sarah (10/5): Great hotel - We absolutely loved our stay at St Georg and can’t wait to return. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel was so clean and welcoming. We will be back.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Economical but unsatisfactory - Floor is not clean, room is not warm in the night, some lights are dead, no table in the room
- Lisa (6/5): - Pool, sauna and the steam bath facilities were quite nice! Beds ( mattresses) were quite old and room were very minimal and dark.
- Lachlan (10/5): Great stay 👍 - Great fun. Beautiful classic style hotel and staff were very accommodating and helpful
- Bruce (10/5): Fabulous Family run Hotel - The hotel is clean comfortable and within great access of town. The food is superb, good choice at breakfast and the evening meal on half board is delicious and plentiful. The staff very attentive to everyone’s needs. The fire alarm system is the best asset in this hotel! We never experienced a hotel fire alarm before at 3:00am you responded immediately and told us all was under control. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice property and staff was excellent. Breakfast variety and quality both were very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal.super Service,reichhaltiges Frühstück.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice helpful staff and good, quiet position but easy walking to centre and old world charm to building but did think the swimming pool - which was a surprise in itself to find it had one - the area could do with a little upgrade, felt a,bit neglected.
- Angela (10/5): Lovely hotel with scenic outlook - We really loved our stay at St Georg. The hotel was delightful, the view from our balcony was lovely, and the hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. It is located about a 15 minute walk from the central shopping & sightseeing area. The return walk is mainly up an incline, but we did not find it an issue as it is a pleasant and scenic walk. We would really recommend this hotel, if you are happy to stay just out of the centre and appreciate a balcony view.
- Philip (8/5): - Staff were very pleasant and good breakfast. Room was ok but overall a bit tired and I’m guessing from ski season use. Bathroom not that clean and one very thin uncomfortable pillow for the bed. Couldn’t say it was comfortable but ok for one night.
- Nawaf (4/5): - Rooms was not comfortable and not cleaned well. The hotel is suitable for old people because I saw a lot of groups of them.
In general I wouldn’t try this hotel again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ruhige Lage und trotzdem zentrumsnah - Sehr freundliches Personal. Eigene, kostenlose, Parkplätze am Hotel.
- Helene (10/5): Boende - Bra boende
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable hotel, friendly staff - The room was very comfortable (spacious closet, good internet, small fridge). The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had available good information for outdoor activities in the city and they provided some recommendations. It is a good location, relatively close to the lake and the center of the city. There are a number of restaurants and stores nearby.
- Radek (10/5): Skvělý poměr ceny a kvality - Velmi pěkný a stylový hotel s perfektními službami.
- Mike (8/5): - Nice hotel. Nice room. Friendly staff. Walking distance to downtown.
