Guest Reviews
- Lindsey (8/5): Very nice and comfortable. - It was a very nice place to stay. Loved having a bath. Bed was very comfy. Peaceful and quiet. Everything was lovely but possibly a radio in the breakfast room as it was a little too quiet.
- Steven (9/5): -
- Margaret (10/5): A wonderful perfect stay in every way - Great location with amazing restaurants. The room was lovely, bed very comfortable, brilliant choice of breakfast and very welcoming. We loved the little thoughtful extras even a birthday card. Nothing. It was a perfect stay
- Alasdair (10/5): -
- MarkNicholas (9/5): Longmead Rocks - Nick and Mel were very welcoming. Very comfortable room. Slept very well. Great breakfast 😋 Bathroom wasn't ensuite for this particular room but it was solely ours which turned out absolutely fine.
- Miroslava (9/5): - During our stay everything was fine and the breakfast was good. It could be warmer in the breakfast room.
- Katherine (2/5): - Only the location near the town center The hotel is very small and the service is terrible. They prefer people with high social status and there's a lot of racism. I had a very bad time and I don't recommend it. The rooms are freezing cold.
- MICHELLE (9/5): it has been a lovely 3 days and a good spot to stay to do a hike around Exmoor! - its cozy , hosts are friendly and accommodating
- Martyna (10/5): - Perfect location, Nick & Melanie are very friendly! Breakfast was delicious 🤤 highly recommended!
- Ursula (10/5): Wir würden sofort wieder anreisen. - Es ist ein sehr schönes Zimmer gewesen, sehr nette u aufmerksame Gastgeber. Die Lage war traumhaft ruhig.
- Leighton-Boyce (8/5): -
- Pauline (10/5): - Food the room and the couple that own the b& b
- Robert v Praze (10/5): 2 day walking trip - Friendly BnB with a fantastic breakfast. The room was compact and comfortable, it had everything you need and everything worked and was clean and well maintained.
- Andrew (9/5): Comfortable room, great location. - Great breakfast, good size guest areas inside and out.
Great location to the town and coastal footpath.
- Carol (10/5): Excellent stay, will stay again - Very well run B&B with homemade cake, bread, granola and preserves which puts it above some others, great hosts, very friendly and helpful. Good location for the town. Nothing not to like.
- Philip (10/5): - Melanie and Nick were very nice and the breakfast was excellent. Off-road parking on site is very convenient and a car charger available if needed. Easy walk into Lynton and short drive to Valley of the rocks. We would stay there again.
- Loraine (6/5): - the owners were lovely
- Derek (9/5): Very pleasant hotel in a good location, very good value. - Good location close to centre of Lydford.
Excellent breakfast. Comfortable well equipped room. Bathroom not en suite but very close.
Windy overnight caused window to rattle.
- Jane (6/5): - Location good, and food excellent
Very friendly hosts. Would book a room.on lower floor next time!
- David Priest (8/5): - Location was good for me, close to akey bus stop. Comfy, snug, clean, good breakfast. My room was very small and up 3 flights of steep stairs but they can't do much about that.
- Bernhard (10/5): -
- ELAINE (7/5): - The breakfast was amazing, homemade bread, jams and granola were delicious. Very nice touch having a slice of homemade cake when we arrived too. Great location between town and The Valley of the Rocks.
- Paul (5/5): Passable - Breakfast was good except for overcooked poached eggs Steep stairs to room
Room extremely small and hot,
Sash windows very rickety, thought glass might break if they slammed shut
Shower small and outdated
Toilet very difficult to flush. On inspection ballcock was being operated by piece of bent wire
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Lovely staff, great location (close to hiking trails and local amenities), good selection of breakfast food and clean, well-equipped rooms - overall, great value for money 😄 Also, fab vegan packed lunch 👌 Nothing major! Mostly, the room size - the single room is on a small side, so if you have lots of luggage and hiking equipment, you may struggle with moving around it
- Colin (9/5): Excellent location, excellent hosts, excellent breakfasts - a little hidden jewel of a place! - Longmead House was an excellent location for us. The guest house is well run and makes an extra special effort to meet guests needs which was most appreciated. Excellent breakfasts and small, thoughtful, individual touches were employed, for example Mel's special ginger cake on arrival and little packet of tissues beside each side of the bed. Our hosts were friendly, and were able to advise us on walking opportunities locally. We were late in booking and probably didnt have their best room so, the only small issue we had was the fact that our wash sink was not in the shower room - we would both have preferred it not to be in the bedroom area.
- Amanda (7/5): We all had a great wkend comedians well catered for - The location was excellent the honesty bar was very well stocked great idea Some areas of the property could do with a little updating
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay was wonderful. The room was beautifully clean and comfortable. The breakfast was such a treat with the beautiful addition of homemade jams and marmalade, There is nothing we didnt love.
- Brian (8/5): Met our expectations - Good value breakfast with good ingredients A little impersonal
- Joseph (10/5): Comfortably quiet. Great location! - Nick and Mel were wonderful hosts! Comfortable room with plenty of space. Breakfasts were exceptional! Everything was in walking distance. Views of the ocean were spectacular from town! Quiet setting.
- Johanna (10/5): Exceptional - Have been before, will always try to book here
- Anders (10/5): Perfect place to stay for stunning walks in landscape of outstanding beauty! - Lovely stay! Good location inbetween the city centre and The Valley of Rocks. Numerous walkings tracks, all of them with stunning views.
- Judy (7/5): Good - Friendly welcome, free parking and great location. Most importantly, fresh milk for a cup of tea on arrival 😊
- Sue (9/5): It was a good stay and a lovely weekend overall - We stayed here in mid June and although it rained for a whole afternoon on the day we arrived, the next 2 days were proper walking days and quite lovely. Lynton is a pretty little place with great eateries and easy access to Lynmouth. Walk down to the sea and take venicular back up, good fun. Longmead House is a superb B&B, Nick & Melanie are unobstrusive but are on hand should you need anything. You can come and go freely with a front door key and the car park is a bonus. The surrounding countryside is truly beautiful but if you want to drive, everywhere is accessible and the other coastal towns are lovely. Valley of the Rocks is a must see. Melanie's home made bread and preserves are fab and breakfast was a feast. Longmead House will be a definite re-stay on our return to North Devon which is rugged and stunning. We are back home in South Devon now and already miss the place. Book and enjoy.
- Ruth (8/5): Very good -
- Kylie (9/5): Superb -
- Clive (9/5): Superb -
- Joan (8/5): - It was all good but there were two things not so good we were put on the top floor with a narrow staircase approaching 80 for us not good, also our bedroom window rattled which kept us awake the first night before we wedged paper between the windows!
- Pziolko (9/5): Superb - Location and very helpful owners.
- Kevan (8/5): Very good - The location was ideal for what we wanted to do in lynton.
- Veronika (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts Melanie and Nick were friendly and helpful. The room was cozy, had everything we needed. The breakfast was very tasty. Thank you
- Shawn (10/5): - This is a beautiful property in a beautiful village. Comfortable beds, great showers, wonderful breakfast and attentive hosts. All on top of one of the most charming villages in England. Highly recommend.
- Jade (10/5): Lovely stay at Longmead - We had an excellent stay. Nick greeted us on arrival. Everything that we needed was in our room and Nick was on hand to give recommendations for the area.
The stunning Valley of Rocks was pretty much on the doorstep and the shops and restaurants were stone throw away. The cooked breakfast was lovely and it was a nice touch that we had a card and chocolates on our table as it was Easter Sunday.
- Helen (9/5): Longmead, Lynton - Nick and Mel were fabulous hosts. The food was great, especially the eggs benedict....I couldn't get enough of them 😋. The room was clean and comfy. The surroundings are spectacular.
- Helen (8/5): Friendly, comfy, welcoming, and satisfying all 10 of us. - The location was excellent. The rooms were clean , attractive and comfy. Breakfast was really good and very generous. As it was Sunday, it would have been nice to have breakfast a little later.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Cindy (6/5): Very pleasant - Very good
- Christine (10/5): Recommended! - Had a very comfortable 2 night stay. Nick and Melanie made us feel welcome - and the cake that was left in the room for us was yummy! Great choice of food for breakfast, which was prepared to an order which was placed the previous evening.
- Greta (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent breakfast and excellent service. There wasn't anything not to like really.
- Eric (8/5): Very good - Breakfast, heating on! Good location, comfy bed, real coffee
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, location, food, room, parking, hosts
- Catherine (10/5): Great Stay - The room was very well equipped
Very clean and the owners were great and friendly The location was great for walking
Great choice of places to eat
Breakfast was amazing
- Jezz (8/5): Very good - Very friendly, attentive and welcoming hosts, great location and facilities. An overall pleasant stay at the Longmeade.
- Rishushrivastava (7/5): Good, Could be better :) - Great location of the hotel a very comfy bed and room; a Nice host and good facilities overall. The Valley of the Rocks is just a 10-minute walk. There was a complimentary cake when we arrived, which was delicious. Overall, Nick was a good host and we enjoyed our time there. There was no wifi coverage in our room. We asked Nick to fix it but it was not done when we stayed because of some extender issue. There were some spider webs in the room (which we didn't like). Hence I have to give fewer points for this stay overall.
- Mairi (9/5): We had a lovely 2 day stay - Delicious Breakfast - The breakfast was amazing and the cake with the tea and coffee! Didn't like the sink being in the bedroom rather than the shower room
- Mark (4/5): Disappointing - Well could help ourselves to cool drinking water and milk as we wished. The bed was very comfortable. We did not like smelly towels. Probably too much fabric conditioner was used and each time we used them they stunk and we felt that as if the smell got on to our skin. The towels did not look very clean either. Our room was a top floor attic room with lower ceiling and was small with very narrow small en-suit bathroom. We paid higher price in that B&B and thus we expected better room. In addition the room smelled when we first went in though we got used to it. Maybe it is just old house thing. We had thought that the location was in Martin Hoe and not in Lynton?!
- Gill (10/5): Very welcoming, clean and comfortable. Thank you - Very thoughtful owners who did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and pleasant There wasn’t anything not to like
- Jill (8/5): Very good - Breakfast very good
- Louise (10/5): Lovely stay - Perfectly positioned a few steps away from the heart of Lynton, you get the benefits of peace and quiet as well as close (walking distance) access to Valley of Rocks, shops, cinema and Lynmouth. Such a charming property and thoughtfully decorated throughout. On site parking available as well as a charger for electric vehicles. A living room to use, which includes a honesty bar. Our hosts give you a lovely warm welcome and leave a slice of cake in your room. Mine was ginger bread, my favourite.
My room (9) was on the 3rd floor, single en suite. Perfectly sized and very comfortable. Plenty of hot water to shower in and drinking water easily available too. When I stayed, we had warm days, so I was very glad to be able to open the window next to the bed and enjoy some cool air all night long. Breakfast is ordered the day before via a form, which I enjoy doing so I don’t have to make that decision in the morning.
I enjoyed my stay at Longmead House, wish I booked to stay longer. Nothing I didn’t like, not a single thing.
- Kevin (10/5): Lovely stay, hosts were great, breakfast was top notch every morning, all round spot on -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was excellent with a great choice.
- Mark (10/5): Excellent - Excellent value for money, compact but comfortable room, excellent breakfast, great hosts.
- Lucy (10/5): Home away from home - Melanie and Nick were so accommodating!! Felt like a home away from home. Cooked breakfast was great and kept us full for the whole day. Great location - only 15 minute walk from the Valley of the Rocks! Would stay again. We didn’t get to meet Quinn !!! But we did see him from the window !
- John (8/5): Very good - Location exceptional for both walking one direction into Lynton/Llymouth&coastal path, or the other into Valley of the Rocks. Quiet comfortable well-managed property with genial and obliging hosts.
- Raymond (8/5): Very good and would return. -
- Elma (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): - Breakfast was superb. Hosts are helpful. Situation is beautiful.
- Roy (10/5): Lovely stay - Clean, comfy, excellent breakfast, excellent hosts. Nothing.
- Julia (9/5): Excellent, we had a lovely weekend. - Melanie and Nick, the hosts were very friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was superb, and well cooked. The property was well situated, well within walking distance of the town and walks around the area. Throughly enjoyed the weekend.
- Chris (10/5): - A wonderful B&B with great hosts. Located within easy walking distance of restaurants, pubs, and shopping. Take water powered tram to equally pretty village of Lynmouth. Highway recommend Longmead.
- yoshiko (10/5): - Breakfast is very good!!
The stuff are very good and kind.
Comfortable place!!
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Russell (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was huge! Good, quiet location
- Teresa (6/5): Pleasant - Comfortable bed, great location Cold bathroom, bugs on carpet, hard bacon, mould on toast, stale cornflakes
- Paul (10/5): great - location is superb, easy access to the coast path and an easy drive to Exmoor. Breakfast was great, excellent quality. As a vegetarian who dislikes meat substitute products I often find problems when eating out, but not at Longmead House. The best breakfast I've had when away for years. Hard pushed to improve on what for me was a perfect short break
- Maureen (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (9/5): It was a very pleasant stay indeed ... - Th e breakfast was absolutely awesome !
Nick and his wife and collie dog were all lovely !
- Gary (7/5): Good - Breakfast was good I didn't dislike anything
- Deb (7/5): Good - Great breakfast. We really appreciated being able to park ahead of check-in.
This meant our first day could be a full walking day. Good maps were available. The room was published as a standard double but we found it cramped with reduced head clearance In parts due to being in the eaves. This may not be a problem most of the year but was uncomfortable for us in a very hot week.
- Alex (10/5): A comfy, cosy, home-away-from-home (but better!) - Melanie is an exceptional cook- we definitely over ate!! The choice for breakfast was very broad, and our dietary requirements were met without any issue (1x vegetarian, 1x non dairy)
Nick was an attentive host, with lots of helpful information about the local area. We would have done so much more if we’d had the time!
The bed was the comfiest we’ve ever slept on too! Honestly? Nothing could have been better! Everything exceeded our expectations.
- Caroline (8/5): Very good - Great location, easy car parking, welcoming hosts. Room comfy, compact and with a good en-suite. Breakfasts beautifully cooked and lots of Longmead cooked items available to purchase.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Lehane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Food Separate private bathroom
- Joe (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (8/5): We enjoyed our stay the area was lovely - Love the town easy access to all the places we want to go, carpark was a big plus The toilet was a bit faulty and the television was small, the stairs were we stay was a bit steep but no problem with us.
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Douglas (9/5): Fantastic stay great hosts and fab breakfast a great stay - Breakfast first class home made bread ,lovely home made granola .I even purchased some to take home . Lovely hosts Sink in bedroom not in bathroom
- Enna (8/5): Lovely, comfortable bed and breakfast. - Amazingly clean, comfortable bed. Welcoming owners. The only criticism, and it's really minor, is we would have liked a bigger cooked breakfast. Maybe some baked beans and hash browns to go with it. Apart from that, delicious!
- Shandra (9/5): Overall stay was perfect! A great stay away from the comfort of our home. - I like the hospitality of the hosts Nick and Melanie. Melanie’ cake was very delicious. Aside from the cozy comfortable room, I super admire the cleanliness, the toilet was absolutely clean and tidy aside from the room it self, makes you feel so relax and calm. Breakfast was perfect, very good service! Nothing, that I can remember!
- Michellemoore (8/5): Very good - Everything Nothing
