Guest Reviews
- Sarita (9/5): -
- javier (9/5): - UN LUGAR MUY gradable y tranquilo
- Jeremie (5/5): - Architecture , emplacement.
- David (10/5): Excellent hotel, great value. - Staff very nice, pleasant and helpful. General decor of the hotel excellent. Room large and comfortable. One minor thing: at times it was tricky to get the shower water temperature consistent...
- Yayuk (8/5): -
- Hannah (9/5): -
- Steve (5/5): The staff was attentive, breakfast was good. They do order some of the menu options outso those were kot alwasy availa - Gorgeous property.. nicely decorated.. the pool was in a gorgeous location on the middle of the open hotel. Beautiful black iron lighting and railing. Wooden anterior. Very old colonial charm We loved the property
- MISFAR (10/5): - نظيف وهادئ
- Arturs (8/5): -
- Ellen (9/5): - De sfeer, rust, mooi hotel.
- Thijs (8/5): Quality stay - Big rooms in a beautiful building, located close to the city centre and surrounded by quality restaurants. The breakfast is great and varied. Mineral water is provided for free. The state of the building (or at least my room) had a couple of defects; leaking tap, door to bathroom couldn't close.
- Martin (8/5): -
Heerlijk zwembad.
- Alena (9/5): - The swimming pool is amazing, and the restaurant is quite good too (the staff are very helpful).
- Swasty Kusuma (10/5): - We check-in a little bit late. The front office staff message me, and they were waiting for us.
Overall, everything was perfect. They served us ala carte for breakfast, and it was delicious. The room was clean and neat. We stayed two nights and we had a great stay.
Thank you. Nothing
- Timo (8/5): -
- Emilda (9/5): Exceptional. - Traditional style while still modern. Front facade a bit too modern look.
Altra nota dolente: asciugamani.
Buona posizione, comoda per raggiungere a piedi ristoranti e supermercato. Servirebbe una rinfrescata generale.
- Iris (9/5): -
- Mustafa Murat (9/5): -
- SILVIA (8/5): Bel posto stile coloniale, letto comodi, belle camere.
- Tammo D. (8/5): Mooi hotel in gezellig deel van Yogyakarta - Mooie ligging, vlakbij gezellige straat vol restaurants. Klein beetje verlept alles.
- Sebastian (8/5): Very good - The atmosphere of the hotel - we really enjoyed it. And the staff was helpful! Breakfast was okay but mostly cold - lids for the pots were not used or available at all.
- Fabrizio1414 (10/5): Nice stay in Yogyakarta - Nice hotel. Rooms clean and confortable, friendly staff. Nothing
- Juan (6/5): - The place is beautiful and has an incredible potential. The only down side was the dirty toilet and smell upon arrival. With a clean bathroom, this place would be a 5/5.
- Sunshinepl (5/5): ONLY STAY HERE In case of total emergency. - I like the location. The hotel had a beautiful colonial design which once was very good. It has a nice open design and rooms are spacious. Nearby are many restaurants in the main and side streets. I strongly recommend going for Mediteranae restaurant for the Duck The dirt everywhere!!! No cleaning, no supervision, no managers, just basic staff without guidance. Public Areas were very filfthy! The room was very filthly! The bathroom had stains from may weeks of not being cleaned ! Outrageous! Breakfast took 45 minutes to make (fried rice) and it was totally bland! - you cannot have the recepionists be the cooks! POWER CABLES WHERE GLUED WITH SCOTCH TAPE !!! STRONGLY recommend other place to stay.
- RYOTA (8/5): - Was quite affordable and everything is ok but facilities are too old with some room for renovation and room and towels are not really clean.
- Manfred (6/5): Pleasant - The hotel was wonderful up until now. But recently guests are no longer allowed to smoke outside their rooms, outside in the fresh air, where they won't disturb anyone. Signs prohibiting smoking for customers? You feel like you're being treated like a little child. Such a shame about this previously wonderful hotel!
- Aisya (9/5): Superb -
- Framboise (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice and affordable. Clean rooms and good servis. Thank you
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Gabriella (10/5): Exceptional - The location is great for exploring Yogyakarta and nightlife. We really enjoyed the pool and the beds super comfy. The staff was friendly and always available, a special thank to Hani. The massage service was top too!
- Laurens (9/5): Lovely small hotel with special admospheer. - What a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere this charming, small hotel has. This isn’t just due to its unique design and styling, but also thanks to the exceptionally professional, proactive, and helpful team. Where else would staff run after you with an umbrella as you head outside, “just in case it might rain”?
The rooms are delightful and impeccably maintained: a comfortable bed, a quiet and efficient air conditioner, a well-equipped bathroom – everything was just right. On top of that, we only had to take three steps from our room to enjoy a refreshing dip in the lovely, cool swimming pool. In short, it was a truly exceptional stay.
However, there was one major frustration: the lack of reliable Wi-Fi. As travelers, we constantly rely on access to information about destinations, tickets, reservations, and, of course, news from home. Although Wi-Fi was available, it was only accessible via a portal that required us to repeatedly log in with a username and password. Even if we simply set our phone down for a moment, we had to go through the login process again before continuing. This system was very inconvenient and frustrating.
For us, this could even be a reason not to book here again, had we known about it in advance. I shared my feedback about this issue with the staff and also provided them with a written explanation, including a suggestion for a suitable technical solution. The team promised me they would address this problem and make improvements. The WiFi network
- Thomas (5/5): Dirty - It has a good location - lots of street food and restaurants / coffee shops nearby It’s dirty - they do not clean well enough - when I arrived the toilet in my room was extremely dirty from the previous guests - the bathroom and room itself need a good cleaning - but they don’t seem to have an interest keeping the place clean - seeing how dirty the room was I definitely did not want to use the pool or eat any of their food. When I complained the said sorry but that was it - it’s a shame because it’s a beautiful building but they just seem to be interested in making money instead of investing in the place to keep it nice and tidy.
- Carol (9/5): A Great find, 5* in my eyes! - Lovely traditional hotel, beautiful surroundings. The pool was fantastic, and the bar/breakfast staff very friendly and attentive, as were all the staff. Food menu was good, something for everyone.
Loved the a la carte breakfasts.
Nice balcony seating outside each room.
Loved the location, only a few minutes walk to restaurants bars etc playing live music Shower hit and miss, hot water was a bonus!
- Fabrizio1414 (10/5): Nice hôtel, friendly staff - Nice hôtel, friendly staff and good location. Nothing
- Afianti (8/5): Very good -
- Linden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (9/5): Nice location and interior design. The staff are helpful and attentive. It’s a good option if you want to explore the ci - Nice interior, helpful staff and good breakfast. Nothing, it was as expected.
- Alana (9/5): Lovely place and good neighborhood - We enjoyed our stay at Java Villas. Location is great (we prefer over Malioboro region), super just one block to Prawirotaman street. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable. We felt like it was almost private - super quiet and reserved. Breakfast was included, which was also great. We really recommend it. Nothing to mention
- Zonia (5/5): Great stay. We ate in the Resto in the evening and they served good food. Only open till 9:30 pm. - Breakfast was always good, but I missed them serving eggs. The rooms are of an old world ambiance which I really liked. However I went to use the bathroom and I got locked in. They had to destroy the lock so I could get out. They changed us to another room. But what if, my girlfriend was not in the outer room? No one could have heard me and I would have been trapped inside for days. They need to put a phone inside the bathroom area.
- Wellington (10/5): The best stay i’ve had in a while - Great taste in interior design, awesome room. Breakfast was real good too (specially the buffet breakfast we had the last day), the employees were super warm and responsive, i’m glad I stayed here for our 3 nights in Yogy. Honestly no complaints whatsoever, cheers to whoever put this together.
- Jessie (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely loved the courtyard garden pool and eclectic decor. Room was big with really comfortable beds and great furniture. The style of building is so cool!!! Also really good location with laundry, shops and restaurants all very close by. Buffet style breakfast with variety of foods I wish the pool stayed open later than 6pm
- Tommaso (8/5): Very good - very beautiful hotel with wonderful pool and nice rooms. breakfast is a bit limited if you do not like rice in the morning. would book
again!
- Jimmy (2/5): Beautiful on the outside, cleanliness and - The staff is friendly and kind, and very helpful. The overall look of the place is beautiful and unique. They have spent a lot of time and effort on the asthetics of the outdoors. The rooms (we stayed in two) were old, outdated, and full of moldy, dusty, dirty, cigarette burned furniture. On the ground floor it was hard to stomach the room for the musty smell, even with air conditioning.
To note the only windows in all the rooms are to the interior (dark) of the hotel. They have no screens or glass,so closed for mosquitos and privacy the rooms are pitch dark.
I am certain no one cleaned any part of the bathrooms between stays. There was soap scum and toothpaste remnants, sticky drips of who knows what. The sheets were stained and old.
The breakfast was put out at 7am and cold instantly. They never refilled it, so if you were up late you were left with the worst of it.
I'm still confused how this place was so well rated. It is a shame to have to review so low, but reviews support guests to make informed choices.
- Anne-Francoise (10/5): - When you arrive in Java villa boutique hotel, you fell like in a little heaven, it looks gorgeous & relaxing inside with the pool, the plants and the whole reception & common area. It is located in a super nice area, close to restaurants and small shop and close enough from marlioboro. Staff is really nice as always in Indonesia. I absolutely recommend the place !
- Sidik (8/5): Very good -
- Dinka (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place for serenity and pleasure with my family. We enjoyed great hospitality, clean and comfortable rooms. Staff team is supportive, helpful and kind. We all recommend wholeheartedly this location as your Yogyakarta oasis :))) Breakfast offering could be improved.
- Ani (8/5): Very good - It was close to my work-place. Walkable so it’s nice. Also close to our fav restos. The pool is big enough - good for exercise. Not, that we did not like. Only that i had to remind or ask them to clean our room a couple of times. Nit that bothering, but sometimes we expected we came back to our room clean.
- Nur (4/5): Disappointing - Staff friendly Bad breakfast, bathroom breaking down.
To dark lightings in the room
- Grange (7/5): Good - The continental breakfast is under expectations. A very strange "bread cooked with milk" should be totally recalled.
Indonesian breakfast is OK.
- Vishal (7/5): Clean rooms, good location - Pool was good, clean room AC hardly worked, upon complaining the staff was quick to change our room, but in the other room also the AC didn't cool the room.
- Silvia (8/5): Very good - a quiet oasis amidst a bustling town
- Abdul Aziz Raudha Dez Erfan (10/5): - The staffs were very hospitable. The location is also great and near to the popular sites like the malioboro street. Will definitely be back if I’m back in jogja!
- Benedict (9/5): Superb -
- Linden (10/5): Exceptional - Everything all staff great Nothing
- John (9/5): Lovely staff and good value hotel. - Lovely hotel with absolutely super friendly staff. Very relaxing sat by the pool with a beer. Good value and tucked away down a nice quiet street off a main road. The shower was a little temperamental.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Perez (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel has a very local vibe and it looks amazing, rooms are super big and comfortable.
It is near restaurants and bars.
- Linda (9/5): Beautiful villa with friendly staff - Every area of this villa is beautiful and they greeted us with refreshing welcome drink and free coffees.Staff are friendly and always did the best to accommodate our need including ordering taxi, printing our train tickets, etc. We ordered floating breakfast for our daughter and she was over the moon when it was delivered, what a beautiful breakfast. Our room was cleaned every day. The hotel was very cozy with clean pool ,beautiful lobby area and mezzanine in traditional design. Security available 24 hours. Laundry and car rental was available just across the street and there is a market nearby. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we will definitely stay in this villa again . The restaurant menu has limited options and availability and could be improved. We were advised that they run out of eggs and fruit when it was actually not busy. Would be great to stock up on popular items such as eggs but overall food was ok.
The fan in our bathroom needs to be cleaned up as dirt keeps dropping every time we turn it on. it seems like it hasn't been cleaned up for years. It also looked like the lid of the fan could come off anytime soon. We would suggest regular clean up and maintenance to be conducted for health and safety reason.
- Robert (10/5): - The hotel was in a place that was very convenient to me and it was a very nice place on itself, the staff was very good and nice. The room was spacious and contained all I needed. Only maintainance lacked a bit and the waterpressure was low. People who worked in the hotel did feel like family after some time and were open to suggestions. I will surely book in this place again!!
- Angio78 (10/5): Little gem in Jongja - Super clean and spacious room.
Great swimming pool Staff is very polite and helpful.
Need to improve English.
- Dimitri (8/5): Very good - Nice and cozy property, feels like it is more country side Some people from the staff speak some English but don’t expect too much
- Cecelia (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is really uniquely and nice designed. It‘s clean, very comfortable. You have a lot of space in your room. You can swim in the pool (indoor) but with open view to the sky. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. The location is central with a lot of options to eat out. I can only recommend this hotel! The breakfast could have more options, but it was still nice!
- Barbara (9/5): Pretty hotel in Yogyakarta - The pool area and breakfast area were nicely laid out in an open courtyard. You could choose your breakfast - Asian or Western. The staff were helpful. The hotel was a short walk to a parallel street which had a few restaurants.
WIFI was good. You could get a reasonably priced and good massage.
We took a cooking class which was just a few minutes walk from our hotel and a great experience. The map the hotel provided of the area was not that great - really basic.
- Vanessa (8/5): Excellent location - Great location, lots of restaurants nearby. Beautiful pool right outside our door.
- Thomas (7/5): Pleasant hotel in great location. - Quiet rooms and good swimming pool. Great location. Could have better selection of drinks at Breakfast. Keep towels by the pool for use rather than have to hunt for them. Showers were sometimes hot, sometimes not!!!
- Andreas (8/5): Very good - Good location in central Yogyakarta with a nice swimming pool in the courtyard. The interior design has a nice and authentic look and feel. They allow people to smoke just in front of the rooms. The rooms are dark without any view. Some of the staff don't speak any English.
- Markus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Szilvia (7/5): Good - Very nice hotel, nice pool, very good location, kind stuff. Very poor but expensive western breakfast. Dirty bathroom. Very bad wifi. Aircons are very noisy. This hotel is overpriced.
- Alina (9/5): Superb - The interior design of the reception area is amazing, with a good touch of vintage. Staff is very welcoming and really trying their best to help. Some maintenance in the bathroom is required.
- Gilles (6/5): Pleasant -
- Manos (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly and helpful stuff, specifically Wayan was great at the reception !
- Dora (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was served slowly.
- Sofia (9/5): Very nice stay - Staff was very kind, they packed us a very very early breakfast for our sunrise tour. The pool was also great.
- Anilkumar (5/5): Passable -
- Ida (9/5): Nice view - Clean, tidy, proper breakfast Sprite
- Paul (8/5): Old world charm - Great hotel with old world charm. Lovely pool and surroundings. This hotel is full of charm. The plumbing needs sorting. The shower heads need changing and the water pressure needs sorting. Other than that its great.
Many people noted the shower problems, yet the hotel seems to ignore this...please sort them out its detracting from being a really fantastic place!
- Carly (9/5): Superb -
- M&v (2/5): This ever was a beautiful place. - The place looks beautiful. Really authentic looking because of all the beautiful doors and plants around.
Sitting next to the pool eating the breakfast is wonderful with all the plants hanging.
You can really see this once was a beautiful place. Showers heads are dirty and don't function well.(in 2 different rooms)
In both rooms the wifi also barely works.
Hairdryer is only available for payment.
Airconditioning doesn't function well.
They also leak by the sides because of this the walls are moldy and rotten.
Garbage cans are old with broken lids.
Lamp by the bed side rusty and falling apart.
These are just some of the examples.
While attempting to help a server a tiny ceramic pepper shaker fell.
As everything in the hotel this looked like it was bought when they opened.
We are fine paying for it as it's our fault.
But we had to pay 8 euro for it.
Wich is way to much for what it is.
It looks like it once was amazing.
But lack of maintenance and renewable of old accesoires makes it only a ghost of what it once was.
- Strawa (8/5): Very good -
- Irvan (8/5): Very good -
- Bartek (9/5): Superb - Really nice and big pool which is arround 1,75 cm deep.
Nice and helpful stuff, tasty nasi goreng for Breakfast Christmas Decoration and music
- Valda (8/5): Very good -
- Philippe (9/5): Superb - Swimming pool and overall architecture
- Gareth (10/5): Exceptional - Helpful staff
Location
