Guest Reviews
- Amy (10/5): - Really charming place with friendly staff and a good restaurant
- Judith (10/5): - It’s felt like an authentic Spanish hotel. So beautifully decorated with different places to sit and read or relax. Our lovely large room had an incredible view. Breakfast was so fresh with a variety of cooked and continental offerings.
- David (7/5): Very unusual and authentic. - Great location. A character property. Unfortunately the photos show the large balcony which is actually the restaurant . Which is independent so only useable if you dine at the restaurant.
Definitely an arty influenced place , with many original features.
Could do with a revitalisation. Getting scruffy.
New owners arrived as we were leaving. So probably changes are coming. Getting tired.
- Julia (10/5): A lovely mountain escape - La Frucruosa is understate elegance… A lovely historic property, fully updated for creature comforts. We loved the 270° view from our bed! We were warmly greeted and oriented to the in and the town. Sadly, we were there on a Monday and Tuesday when many things are closed, including La Frutuosa’s restaurant, but we loved the breakfast in the morning. The house is decorated with a lot of local art, which is also a treat. Nothing we didn’t like
- Dee (10/5): Beautiful hotel, lovely people and the restaurant is a must visit. - Beautiful property. The owners made us feel like family. The views were amazing and you must try the restaurant - incredible food in a quirky room that was an old wine press. Nothing
- MIGUEL (10/5): -
- Harry (7/5): - Loved the atmosphere Rooms chilly till heat came on
- Mary (10/5): A delightful stay in a beautiful old hotel. - The Fructuosa is so beautiful and full of charm. The house exudes history, and the staff care for it wonderfully--and they care for you wonderfully as well. The room was spacious and well lit with warm lights, and the bed was perfect. The breakfast is a delight, not only for the delicious food but for the people you might meet there in the cozy dining room. Since Gaucín is not only a very old Spanish village but a place at the frontier of the interior and coastal Spain, it draws people from many parts of the world. We met a Swiss German couple who were traipsing around southern Spain and had interesting stories to share. Our stay was a sheer delight, and we will go back again.
- WILLIAM (10/5): Enjoyable break in the mountains - Pilar was extremely helpful and efficient and allowed us to check in early. Bedroom was very comfortable with a rustic charm. Location was great. Breakfast and dinner very good. Nothing
- Sally (10/5): Lovely small hotel in wonderful location. Excellent food and the staff were very friendly, especially Bili. - A beautiful small hotel , with a lovely ambience and decorated with empathy to the outstanding location.
The manager, Bili, was an absolute treasure- her attention and help during our stay was superb.
She was front of house, sorted out everything and served an abundant breakfast.
The restaurant was top notch and very reasonably priced.
Views from the roof terrace of Gibraltar and Morocco were amazing.
Highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Gaucin Nothing
- Elizabeth (8/5): Beautiful Mountain Getaway - Beautiful, quaint Andalucian hotel in a fantastic location. Very helpful and welcoming staff. The views from the bedroom were stunning and even better from the roof terrace. Comfortable communal living room on the first floor. The outside dining terrace would be beautiful in the summer months. Ideally for me there would have been a kettle to make a drink. However there was a coffee machine.
- Felipe (7/5): -
- Geert (8/5): -
- Christabell (10/5): Beautiful view, location and restaurant - Beautiful decorated, unique and restaurant below
- Wayne (10/5): Excellent & beautiful hotel in a picturesque village, with lovely staff, a nice breakfast (top fried eggs) & an - Relaxation, relaxation & relaxation. Away from the crowds, traffic & stress of city life. Absolutely nothing & anyone who finds something to complain about are making it up.
- Timothy (10/5): Fab place love it - Great staff and comfy bed… Restaurante is awesome, Pilli is fantastic Nothing
- Mihai (9/5): -
- Alexia (10/5): The best sunrise/sunset view over Gibraltar and the mountain in the same time! - The house is such a beautiful example of a renovation with lots of work and dedication, we loved all the art pieces related to the local scenery.
Everything was clean and having an on site restaurant with great local product, perfectly cooked dishes was definitely a plus.
Some may consider beds are too soft, but I loved it, had a great night sleep, super quiet, warm and clean. Nothing, everything was smooth.
- Bryn (10/5): A lovely tranquil stay once again - I love Gaucin and this is our second stay in the last few months at La Fructuosa. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the hotel is so tranquil even in the centre of the village. Our only regret is that we haven’t been able to eat in the hotel restaurant yet but perhaps next time.
- Jerry (9/5): A lovely boutique hotel in a wonderful village. - This is a lovely boutique hotel in a wonderful village. The terrace has amazing views down to the coast. The lady that welcomed us (sorry I didn’t get her name) was so kind and friendly. The room had heating which was appreciated in mid November. The rooms are very nicely furnished and decorated and spotlessly clean. Nothing
- Withers (10/5): Fabulous - Superb . A great hotel , tastefully furnished and some personal touches Great terrace with a fabulous view .
Staff were friendly and helpful prior to stay and on arrival . Our stay was too short
- HELEN (10/5): Loved this boutique hotel and restaurant in Gaucin. - A really lovely small hotel in a great location in Gaucin. The room was beautiful and spacious with wonderful views and we loved the ceramics displayed throughout the hotel . We could walk from there to bars and restaurants in the town. Thoroughly recommend this hotel , the roof top terrace and bar provided us with an amazing sunset one night, just beautiful.
- Christopher (8/5): excellent, would recommend. - Great location for the views. Tasteful decoration. Good breakfast. Beds a little firmer.
- ANB (10/5): Grandios!!!
- Mark (10/5): - Everything was excellent
- Derek (10/5): Very nice Hotel, good rooms, great staff and excellent food and wine. - Excellent Dinner in the Restaurant, Nice and quirky bedroom, good aircon, All the staff that we met were friendly and professional
- Catherine (9/5): - Very hospitable staff. They went out of their way to make the stay excellent. The roof top bar is stunning, with remarkable views. The building has a very interesting history, and the decor is lovely. Thanks for a great stay.
- Carol (10/5): Little oasis of charm, great food, fabulous views - Individual charm, fantastic art pieces, wry comfortable room, delicious on site restaurant and roof terrace Nothing
- Stamatina (9/5): -
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about the accommodation and its staff was outstanding. Nothing it was perfect
- Deborah (7/5): superb little hotel - beautiful little hotel . Rooms appointed very nicely . very comfortable bed we were charged to once we had left for coffee which was in the room ( assumed it was complimentary , as there was no sign to say it would be charged )
- Eszter (10/5): -
- Chantelle (8/5): Very nice but some challenges - Lovely location, beautifully decorated rooms and very clean. Breakfast was delicious. There was an issue with our toilet and we were not told when we checked in. The staff on site did not speak English (only using Google translate) so it was difficult to resolve quickly.
We ended up switching room. Our first room did not have air con just a fan so be mindful of this when booking during the summer months.
- Mark (10/5): Wonderful stay at La Fructuosa. - This hotel is a comfortable oasis in the wonderful village of Gaucin. It has a long history of accommodating guests and under these new owners has been upgraded to include good wifi and a wonderful restaurant on the main level. The room was beautifully decorated and looked out over the mountain range and towards the rest of Gaucin. Breakfast buffet each morning was delicious with freshly baked croissants and a host of other offerings. The staff was very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Highly recommended!
- Noel (7/5): Good - Location was great. Travelled with kids aged 2, 4, 11. Being in this small village was lovely. People were very kind. Less proficient english. The rooms were colorful, quaint and the views from our room, simply stunning. Breakfast was ok, basic. The kids hardly ate anything, so felt like that money could've been used more efficiently, or their ages better considered for pricing purposes. The kids love swimming so we were hoping to have use of the pool, but the city pool doesn't allow children, and the pool at the hotel is not a pool but more like a bathtub that didn't look too appealing. Overall, I think more suitable for adult travelers.
- Yi (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (6/5): - Nice small hotel, nice location.
- Verónica (8/5): Very good -
- Teresa (10/5): We loved it! Welcoming, comfortable, amazing views, wonderful art, quirky touches, a unique lovely experience. - We loved it all, especially the beautiful views from the terrace, the wonderful art and little quirky touches made for a very nice experience.
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Franz (10/5): - Amazing hotel with amazing view and amazing people
- Lene (10/5): Brilliant - Really good To much salt in the dinnerdish
- Miranda (9/5): Beautiful hotel in lovely village - Wonderful property in a beautiful town. Hotel was comfortable and we loved the outlook from the room over the valley. There was a drain smell emanating from the ensuite bathroom . I guess that’s not unusual in old places but it was quite unpleasant.
- Shivaun (8/5): Lovely stay in beautiful Gaucin - Lovely location and lovely staff. Very clean. If you are over 6 ft the bed length might be a problem otherwise fine
- Lotta (8/5): Very good -
- Christina (10/5): Lovely hotel, would not hesitate to visit again. - Lovely location with some rooms having fantastic views. Our flight was changed by 11 hours at the last minute resulting in us arriving at the property much earlier than expected, however the staff were very accommodating allowing us to leave our luggage.
We had a lovely meal at the restaurant, not much choice for vegetarians but the mushroom risotto was really creamy and full of flavour.
- Peat (7/5): Rustic and charming - Central location with amazing view
- Nanna (9/5): Superb - This is a lovely little hotel at the top of the world. We were so lucky to get a room with a view over the valleys and spectacular mountains.
The host was very helpful and the booklet left in the room contained all the information we would need.
- Rhoda (7/5): Lovely place well recommended -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The view from the hotel is absolutely breathtaking. The hotels restaurant has a Michelin chef and is very quaint. The rooms are very large with sitting areas and clean bathrooms, the hotel also has public sitting areas and a beautiful rooftop deck with a pool. The hotel was centrally located so it was very easy to sightsee, shop and visit restaurants during the day.
- Garnet (10/5): - Pleasant simple guest hotel. Most delightful.
- David (9/5): Superb - In the centre of town lots of little shops and restaurants/bars Parking
- Eileen (7/5): Traditional and friendly; great location - Has a traditional feel with tiled floors and some interesting decor. Beautiful view towards the coast. Our room (the one pictured above) was spacious, with a sofa and coffee table. Great breakfast. Many gluten free items thoughtfully provided. The bathroom might benefit from an update but it was clean and functioned well. The staff were friendly (no English, but that added to the fun) but would have been nice to meet the owners, however briefly. The bed was on the hard side for us.
- Timothy (10/5): Fab place shame about the coffee in the room - Fab staff… lovely hotel and a great restaurant Only one thing… the bizarre charging for coffee in your room… such a small thing and would make one’s stay so much better
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Soffcec (8/5): Very good - Beach 10m
- Michele (8/5): Very good -
- Frederick (8/5): - We enjoyed our time there and the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good. We'd go again, but we had an advantage in that I knew the village very well.
- Boris (10/5): Andalucia Atmosphere - The style of this boutique hotel is unbeatable , wonderful atmosphere and super breakfast Nothing
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Stig (9/5): Interesting hoatel boutique - Personal style decoration
- Uldis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (10/5): - Our stay was lovely from start to finish — we were greeted warmly by our hosts — the view from the rooftop terrace, our wonderful dinner bad breakfast in a restored grape pressing room made for a wonderful and memorable stay.
- Patrik (10/5): Exceptional - Very cozy with good rural atmosphere. Bautiful view from terrace. Friendly staff.
- Katrina (8/5): Great location and wonderful staff. A little noisy and pricey compared to other areas. - extremely accommodating and friendly staff. Great breakfast. Perfect location. lovely terrace for dinner. can be quite noisy within the hotel itself as people go in and out of their rooms - low soundproofing between rooms and corridor.
- Philippa (9/5): Superb - Views phenomenal! Great location, lovely old place with lots of character, great breakfast, amazing restaurant
- Roger (8/5): We enjoyed the unobstructed views and open French doors in our spacious room in the lovely village of Gaucín. - The views The bathroom was old, poor lighting, and a little musty. The staff wasn’t very friendly with the check-in and check-out, which you wouldn’t expect in a small hotel.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional - Loved this place so much. What a nice, quiet break after Seville. Pilar, our hostess, was amazing. Delicious breakfast. We had dinner at the restaurant twice. The risotto was so, so good. Our room (le jardin) was huge and bed very comfortable. Can't wait to go back. Nothing negative to say at all.
- Lynnette (10/5): Attention to every detail - Beautiful hotel with a lot of attention to detail, both in the appearance as well as the service. The restaurant is top notch Not a complaint, but be aware that there isn't any parking very near the hotel.
Also, the outdoor pool that is mentioned in the description is actually the municipal pool. It was closed for the season when we were there at the end of September so I can't provide any feedback on that.
- Farah (8/5): Very good -
- Ewa (10/5): Perfect - Everything was perfect. We will tell our friends about it.
We Will shurly come back 🙏🏼🥰 A lot of stairs 😊
- Graham (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): Most enjoyable 3 nights in a delightful hotel in a delightful village - Position and view (although you could have arranged better visibility!) decoration and character of the hotel. Bathroom door needed adjustment. Food not up to expectations.
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- John (9/5): Superb - Beautiful room with a spectacular view. Lovely old building right in the centre of Gaucin.
- Maurice (7/5): Good -
- June (9/5): Relaxing and enjoyable. - The uniqueness and the decor. The breakfast and restaurant were excellent. Superb views from our room over to Gibraltar. The fact there was no swimming pool. I understand that would be difficult to accommodate.
- Georgina (9/5): Superb -
- Nina (10/5): Memorable stay! - Fabulous place, rooms & food& emplacement!
Very friendly staff!
