steven (2/5): motel no longer open - arrived to check in on July 25, 2025 and found motel closed and out of business. no one contacted me from Hotels.com or Motel 6 in Llion, NY to inform me that the hotel closed since I booked it in December 2024. Had to make other arrangements since it was the baseball hall of fame weekend and no other hotels were available. stayed one hour and a half from Cooperstown, NY.
Guest (2/5): ABANDONED & SCARY - DO NOT GO HERE - DO NOT STAY HERE. This is not a real hotel. It’s a run-down shell of a place in a scary part of town. It was totally deserted (one ONE car in the parking lot), had notices from the city in the front door about illegal long term rentals, smelled of cigarettes and pee and appeared to not even be a working hotel. Totally abandoned, not a soul in sight. A hand written cardboard note in the lobby said “close”. Some of the rooms appeared to be where squatters were living. A scary experience. DO NOT GO HERE.

James (2/5): - Arrived only to learn that the property was CONDEMNED back in April! (Ever try to book a last minute 3-night stay anywhere within an hour of Cooperstown on Hall of Fame weekend? There is a reason I booked 6 months in advance, and even then it was slim pickings!) Perhaps some day we’ll look back on this and laugh, but today is not that day.
Kenneth (6/5): Replacement hotel - This was a replacement night for a hotel I had booked 8 months ago. When we arrived there, it was boarded up and out of business since April(3 months ago). Took an hour for Hotels.com to find a room. Hotel was pretty dated and rundown. Room was ok.

Heather (6/5): - Our tv wouldnt work. Two different staff came down and after 1 hour it worked. Thee outside of the hotel was not good looking. I had to clean the hot tub out before we could use it. The jets hardly worked and the when i set the timer it turned on a fan in the ceiling. The sheets had holes in them and the pillows were tiny. Staff was very nice though

janejN3096NL (2/5): Flies and Smells - This was the worse motels that we have ever been at. All of the rooms that are shown in their photo were taken so we were assigned room 111 on the back of the building. On entering the room it seemed something was off not only was the air conditioner on but the windows were wide opened without screens. That allowed a group of flies and beetles to enter to make the room buzzing all night long. Some simple amenities were missing: waste paper basket, plastic cups, some Kleenex. Wi-Fi service proved to be difficult although the desk clerk was able to restore it. Room was a bit pathetic with lousy pillows and bedspreads decorated with cigarette burns. The door lock was extremely sketchy. Although we booked for 2 days we left after one as we were able to get a room at a nearby motel that was originally fill when we were looking for accommodations. Ran back to get our luggage and realized why the windows had been left open. There was a heavy stench in the room. Our room should never have been opened for use.

The mattress cover was stained. There was a homeless person pushing a cart behind the building. The sidewalks were littered. The ice vending machine was unsanitary - use your bucket to scoop into open ice bin. The staff’s large dog barking behind the door as we walked/waited in the lobby to check in gave us pause. If there had been any other rooms available within driving distance we might have given up the non refundable cost!

Bill (4/5): - The outside of the building and the lobby were nasty and dirty and way too expensive for the lack of "curb appeal." The key cards would not open the door of my room, and the on site manager couldn't even open it with the master key. There's no telling how long that room may have been vacant. So she asked me to wait for a half hour while she prepared another room. I told her to cancel my reservation and I asked for my money back.

They let the addicts sleep in the lobby and sell drugs from the lobby.

gudest (6/5): OK for a night - We stayed for one night at this property. The room was clean, the wifi connection was good, the price was reasonable, and the staff person was helpful. The biggest negative was the coffee, or lack thereof. One pot had some old coffee in it, and the other had old coffee with mold floating in it. Pretty gross, to be honest. The office also was kind of a mess.

Stevie (2/5): - It smelled of cigarettes.There were bugs (spiders, and beatles?) in the room. There was hair on the pillows and sheets which means they werent washed. It was cold in the room and we shivering all night. The towels had black marks on them. The walls were dripping with yellow/brown... something. And it had an overall vibe of homicide and human trafficking. But the guy at the front desk seemed nice even though it took several attempts to get his attention. 2/10 would only recomend to my enemies.
Brenda (2/5): Did not stay - The place was scary. It was dirty, the guy was not in the lobby when we arrived and was unable to check us in when he did get there. We left and found another place to stay. I want a refund.

yachyr2024 (10/5): Awesome motel - The motel was perfect for what we needed. Close to the highway....super comfortable big and clean rooms and super friendly staff. Motel 6 was perfect stopover on the way to my business meeting. I would highly recommend and I'll be back at my next trip.
959leaj (10/5): Pleasant experience - I had a very pleasant stay at Motel 6, Ilion, NY. It was on par with Motel 6 standards, an economical, clean stay. The staff was courteous and friendly and the location was very convenient for me. I feel confident recommending this hotel for your stay in the area. Safe travels!
Margaret (2/5): - They tried to make us pay twice, they gave us and another couple the same room and then said they had no other rooms cleaned, then gave us another room that someone else was already in, manager called the cops on us when all parties involved tried to complain about all the problems they were causing their guests

Bisbeticone (2/5): Stay somewhere else - Took three people to check me in because their credit card reader wasn’t working, and everyone had to have a try. It’s 2024 — figure out a reliable way to take credit cards. Ended up charging me twice (they allegedly refunded the overcharge). First room they sent me to hadn’t been cleaned. The second had theoretically been cleaned but was pretty dirty. Some kind of brown gunk in the toilet bowl and one of the “clean” bath towels had fresh blood stains on it. Floor gritty and dirty. Cigarette smell though it was supposed to be a no-smoking room. Very thin walls - you hear everything from adjoining rooms. WiFi essentially useless. I put the heater up to 80 to keep the room minimally comfortable — cold air pours in from door and windows. I wasn’t expecting the Ritz, but asking $92 for this place was beyond ballsy.

Neil (2/5): - Apparently there was a recent news story or some other information about the motel being used by the local Catholic Charities to house pedophiles, drug addicts, or other types of restricted people. During my two night stay at least 10-15 trucks and cars yelled profanities and other comments about getting jobs, get clean, leave the kids alone at me and other guests if anyone was in the parking lot. I will not ever stay at this property again regardless of the price based on the feeling of not being safe from the local townspeople.

Amy (4/5): Never again!! - It took about 20 minutes to check in . The girl at the desk was not answering the bell or the phone . The place was dirty my room had so many flies . There was a glue fly trap hanging from the ceiling. We had a problem with the tv it took awhile for someone to come back after looking at it to fix it and the WiFi didn’t work! I would not go there again!

The entire property was dirty including the only person working there. The bathroom linen was horrible quality and cheap like paper and was thin, I booked for two nights and I couldn’t stay the second night because the smell was so bad I couldn’t sleep or breathe in there. The person working was nice and helpful however the place was very disgusting

quadmannn (4/5): No frills. Opposite of elegant. Ok for Glimmerglass and Cooperstown. - Just know what you are getting yourself into here. Stayed here 3 nights to visit our grandson (who was working at Glimmerglass) and to visit The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Cooperstown is a tourist trap with VERY overpriced hotel/motel rooms. I managed to find this motel about a half hour away (less than that to Glimmerglass). When I say no frills, I mean NO frills: -very small room -thin, cheap towels and no wash cloths. -no hair dryers. -discolored water in sink and toilet (toilet was also not cleaned properly). -dirty wood laminate floors (the dirt came off of my feet in the shower). -no furniture in room to store your clothing in. -electric baseboard heating units are dirty. Not all is lost, however: -mini fridge and microwave in room -nice LCD TV with good channel selection. -nice ceramic tile tub/shower surround (needs a new shower curtain) -good hot water supply. -nice newer sink and countertop. From reading the other reviews, I get the impression that this motel is under new ownership, and the new owner is gradually trying to renovate it. To wit, my suggestions: -clean it, clean it, CLEAN it. Everyone notices lack of cleanliness. A little elbow grease would go a long way. -install a hair dryer in each room (cheap, but effective upgrade). -get some decent towels. -clean up your water supply. The water in the toilet looks dirty even right after the toilet is flushed. The water in the sink was brownish while I shaved. -put a cheap chest of drawers in each room so visitors can put their clothing somewhere other than their suitcase. -sometimes it's the little things that count, and the little things are not that expensive most of the time. My wife said "ok" to your motel "this time", but also said she would not be willing to stay there again. I wish you well with your endeavor.
Christine (2/5): - This place is very run down but I figured it was just for the night. The room was disgusting, dirty, dead bugs on the ground, filthy floors (I was taking my shoes off), tiny fruit flies were flying all over. Bedsheets - Gross, Towels - Gross with lots of stains on them. We left and checked into a different hotel, I was not about to sleep there, ever!
Cynthia C. (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Room was very clean & comfortable. Bathroom was in need of an update, but mostly worked well. Lots of hot water! Toilet was very slow to flush. AC was ancient & took forever to cool the room, but kept it cool once it was at desired temperature.

michele (2/5): needed a drug bust - when we arrived the room was not ready but they did have a power outage that day and were behind while we sat in our car in front of room107 you can tell that the person there was dealing in drugs so many people came and went picking up the noise and the running above and outside of the room went on all night when we went to check out there was nobody there just left the key never never again or recommend to anyone usless they need drugs

Tara (2/5): - The area of the placement of the motel was nice as there was plenty of nearby restaurants and stores. However that would be the only good thing about the motel. Very unclean - there was hair in our trash and throughout the room, presumably fecal matter smeared on the wall near the toilet, the shower barely functioned, and the room was extremely stuffy and the smell of stale cigarettes lingered. The room itself was certainly not comfortable and I am very grateful we only had to stay there one night. Another thing that I would like to mention is that in the middle of the night we had random people banging on our room door. Although we are aware that this specifically isn't at the fault of the motel keeper as it is out of their control, I feel the need to mention it as that was another one of our deciding factors to not stay again at this motel, and to be quite honest, any motel 6's in our future.
CHRISTINE (4/5): - For the price it was like sleeping at Drugmart! People coming and going constantly. I am not someone who would be scared but the traffic made it hard to sleep.
Christopher (2/5): - Filthy, smoke odor, insects of all kinds on the walls and ceiling. Bathroom was the worst. No soap and towels smelled like cigarettes. Air conditioner was smashed, could not turn it off, up or down. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We were exhausted driving home, flies and other insects will buzz and keep you awake for the evening. Don’t expect anyone at the desk to help you. This place truly is a last resort outside of sleeping in your car.
TracieS27 (4/5): Overpriced for what you get - The best part about this motel is it's super friendly and helpful staff member Ashley. It is an older property that is currently undergoing renovation. Overall our room was clean except for some paint shavings on the floor, the painter literally removed the blue tape from the door when we arrived. Minimal amenities and some older features such as the thermostat and tub. Great hot shower, though and not a terrible stay since we only needed a good night sleep and shower. If you choose this property, have a lot of grace and patience for it's condition.

Christine (4/5): - Room had hardwood floors that needed to be cleaned. Microwave was small fridge still had a soda in it from a previous guest. Toilet and tub were discolored. Every time the door opened full veiw was grated to outsiders. Was awkward when my partner came back from a coffee run and i was undressesed at the sink and mirror which were not inside the bathroom but just outside the door. Room seemed to be recently painted, within the last year, a spider was painted into the door. Other than the cleanliness of the room, the biggest issue came as we returned from a day back to get ready to go out to dinner and the water in the faucet was running an orange rust brown color which did clear up by the time we came back from dinner.
Alma (6/5): - The motel is under new management and it would be unfair to pass judgment on an entrepreneur who just bought a run down facility and is trying to fix it up. It doesn’t happen in a day. My advice would be to use a less smelly cleaning agent. It was bothersome but I have a sensitive nose. The bed was quite comfy and it was close to the highway.

William (2/5): - The plumbing was awful. The plumbing drain smell filled the room. Sleeping was near impossible because the room literally smelled like the sewer drain. I closed the bathroom door, but the sink was in the room. I plugged the sink drain and wet a towel to cover the drain and drain return in the sink. The windows were painted shut. We spent every non-sleeping minute with the door wide open.

Chris (4/5): - The room i requested wasnt available and the room i was assigned had a broken door so i was given a non smoking room instead that had no cups in the room and no coffee maker. In all i did not receive the room i had reserved. Very disappointing experience
David (4/5): - The room was quite dirty. It looked like a quick job had been done on the toilet, but poop stains were visible on the outside of the toilet. The door was damaged, hard to close, with a gap at the bottom that let in flies. And the whole room reeked of cheap air freshener.
