Stephen (2/5): The worst hotel I have ever stayed in - I did not get the room I booked the entry codes to the building and the room were both incorrect I booked a double en-suite room I got a family room the headboard to one of the beds was not attached and had 3inch screws sticking out which you could easily cut yourself on the shower was filthy there were no toiletries or towels also the blinds did not close only 1 tea bag to drink people coming in and out all night fire alarm went off at 12.30am as someone was smoking in the building which took 30mins to reset this was more like a halfway house not a hotel
G7680EXjordanc (2/5): The worst “Hotel” I’ve ever experienced - How health and hygiene haven’t shut this place down is a mystery. Filthy, no working shower in our shared part. Junkies everywhere, shouting and shooting up. Blood all over the bathroom in the morning. Junkies shouting all night. Rooms mankie, half a blind on the wall, sockets that don’t work, holes in the walls, no heating, etc If you value your safety do not stay here.

Verified traveler (8/5): Did the Job - Looked for a cheap overnight hotel in Middlesbrough, and found Longlands. Rooms were simple, shared toilets and showers as advertised, but clean and tidy. There was a problem with the boiler, affecting the central heating, but the receptionist provided a portable electric heater when it couldn't be sorted. Showers were electric so worked, and were nicely fitted out. I added the breakfast, which was really good value.
Dawn (2/5): Very dirty and most things broken. - The room we booked was for 4 but wast any good for 4 and was very dirty walks and doors covered in human stuff. The shower omg was stinking and couldn’t stand in to shower at all.
andreajenkinson (2/5): Do not go here!!!! - The cost did not reflect the facilities. The WiFi dropped out in the bedrooms so Una available unless you sat in the uncomfortable reception area. The TV remote control did not work! No plug in the sink, when using the sink the sewerage from other rooms filtered through the plug holes!!! Think carefully before booking at £70 per night for these grotty facilities. You can book much much better for the same price or less ! !!!

The shower had mold on the floor and walls. The Sheets were stained and what seemed to be pubes on the bed sheets. It may be cheapish but spend the extra money and go somewhere better.

Didn’t even apologise when I explained I wasn’t staying in a room that looked like a crack den. The fire alarms had just been silenced instead of dealing with the problem. The blinds in the room were all twisted and snapped so they didn’t close. No curtains either. The headboard was hanging off and the room smelt like a homeless person had been kipping in there for 2 weeks straight. Dirty.

Rachel (4/5): - It was okay, nothing to rate really, clean and basic for thr money you pay its not like a typical hotel tho more like a tempory place to stay, rooms were clean, sink in bedroom was no water, toilets/showers were shared only, not enough space to swing a cat, the only down fall was kept up most of the night on friday night and saturday to people upstairs being very noisy, talking loudly, laughing too much, banging as they walked on the floor i thought there was an herd of elephants up there, never had no sleep this went on for a good few hours well until about 5am both mornings, at one point saturday night heard the said updtairs guests having loud intercourse 3 times totally no respect, no staff whatsoever there at all. Saw what looked like a few rough people. Totally felt uncomfortable on the stay even when i was staying with my partner. Never felt like that after staying in a "hotel" before, no breakfast as yiu have to go across the road to the other hotel. Didnt really rate it tbf shame really
Jason (2/5): - Unfortunately we booked, but didn’t stay, no reception, had ring up then some one arrive, the toilet was not clean, felt unsafe. The window wouldn’t close, not like the photos in any way. Was let in, given codes for the doors, anyone could have entered. Was a nice guy who let us in. We just walked in, walked, we could have been unlucky, very dated, very basic.
MATTHEW (2/5): Trust the locals out the front when they warn you - Our room type was booked to have a bathroom in the room. It ended up being a shared bathroom in a dorm-type lodging, but we were assured "it's ok, nobody else is booked here. it's private for you" When someone else opened the bathroom door while it was in use, check-in staff said "what do you expect? it's a hotel of course there are other people". We were told the room we booked wasn't available because "the man from the council has it now". Upon checking in we were immediately told "I have CCTV everywhere so your car will be safe", as though it was a major concern for other travellers. Went up to the room and the door frame was falling apart, looked like the doors had been kicked in multiple times. We immediately checked out and found other accommodation

L4124DGLouise (2/5): Cancelled our booking left us with no accomodation AVOID - We arrived to find they had cancelled our booking we therefore had no accomodation for the night. We therefore had to return home a two and half hr drive back and missed our concert Take That as we couldnt get anywhere else to stay. We had booked this in sept last year. The guy at the hotel was no help as all just said pretty much tough. Avoid this place
margaret (2/5): - On arrival a little disappointed, did not look great or welcoming , however staff were well presented and polite. Shown to first room which had other peoples luggage in, thank god our room was changed as it smelt terrible. Second room not much better, if we could have found another hotel we would have !! The door actual did not fit the gap, we had a sink in the room which not only did the water trickle out but not hot. Refused to use the shower as unpleasant, only one towel for two people. The bed was comfortable and sheets clean but only pillow per person. Did have tea and coffee facilities but took 15 mins to fill kettle. Overall it was overpriced and awful, I doubt anyone would ever go back for another stay, so it works for the management. Best thing they could do is knock it down and start again smarten the rooms up !!!

Holes etc.. in the walls .Overall the hotel needs cleaning and updating and to be used just as a hotel and not as temporary accommodation for the homeless. A knock at the door in the early hours by another resident stating that they had used the shared toilet and did I have a cigarette for them !!! . Not something I would expect from a decent hotel. As previous reviews mentioned, I believe this hotel is being used as temporary accommodation for the homeless. We went down for breakfast ( not really expecting much due to the room condition) and we're disgusted at the state of the dining area and lack of food available. We left without eating anything due to the conditions in the dining area. Whilst our stay was cheap it certainly didn't reflect good value for money and we certainly won't be going back next time we're ever in the area

ArthurLobon2 (2/5): Disgrace please read and stay away - Theres no kind way of saying it its used to home the homless when they have nowhere to stay they have the code to the door and help thereself to the facilities and stay in the stairwell hunging the radiator its also used for prostitution i was on my own with children the vile noises from them doing buisness in the stairwell was distressing but i didnt want to pass 3 men doing things to a naked woman with the children it went quiet i left as quick as i could at 6am after making a few complaints through the night to reception nothing was done they seem to let them use it for what they wish. Disgraceful place please dont take your children here
DeeDee1956 (2/5): Refusal of a Registered Service Dog - I enquired via Booking .com to stay and advised I have a Registered Service Dog for seizure detection and would need him With me. I was shocked to receive a blunt reply from The hotel “The OYO Longlands Hotel Does not Accept dogs!! Can someone In authority please advise the hotel of the law that no premesis, Hotel etc refuse a service animal. It is legally Written. A blind person with their Service dog, any Service dog can stay! No wonder they only Have 2 star rating. I had to enter a date of stay at this hotel but of course I wasn’t able to because they refused us!

How they’re advertised by Expedia is beyond me and it says a lot about Expedia The room was unclean toilet was broken, urine was left in the bowl. There was mould on the shower head and shower cubicle The shower cubicle had tape along the bottom of the door to act like I assume a seal I have photos and when challenged with this refused me a refund even tho I had to book somewhere else to stay Also even thought it’s down as a smoke free room the entire room smelled like stale smoke the minute I walked in, when I complained to the reception the staff seemed unbothered and said if I wanted a refund then call Expedia which when investigated claimed the room was “up to standard and no refund was due” Terrible service both from the property and Expedia

I asked the guy on the desk to call me a taxi. He did that and then said please make sure your car is locked. I said what do you mean?! He said it's just for safety. Safety?! I said why is it not safe here. He said some of our customers park across the road. I jumped in my car and left. Awful unsafe experience. Never go here.

HOMELESS REFUGE MORE LIKE - I stopped here for 1 night and that was 1 night too long how this place has a hotelier license is beyond me, the receptionist was rude unhelpful and could hardly speak the language, place had an odour of marijuana everywhere you walked, stoners on the sofas, the guests looked like waifs and strays , alcoholics ,drug addicts and homeless people. I went up with my sister and her partner she asked me if there was a swimming pool dont get me wrong we're not posh but for what we paid we could of stopped at the jurys inn. As for breakfast in the morning obviously of which i didnt order, Mohammed takes the order walks across to the hotel across the road comes back with a shrink wrapped plastic plate skilfully tip toed past the vomit on the floor and the empty drug bags to top it off the receptionist had the cheek to check your room when you left to get your £20 deposit back. DO NOT STOP HERE BRING A TENT ITS MORE LUXURIOUS.
beckyboo1974 (2/5): Wtf wouldn’t place a homeless person in here!!! - Been to many hotels and never thought I’d see a hotel worse than you have in Blackpool I walked in with me missis and straight away you can smell the skunk By the time we checked in there’s a party of stoners cuddled up on a sofa, depressed homeless people wallowing about out the back, We were taken to an annex with no front door handle or lock, walked upstairs and instantly felt sick and started to gag due to a horrible smell of cat piss, taken to our room and the lights been pulled out the wall, 3 beds cramped in a room with no bathroom or showers (these ended up being down the hall!!!) I went to the bathroom to heave and the fackin toilet wouldn’t flush as it was broken!!! I complained to Mohammed who told me to not talk to him like this to which I shared how would you like me to speak?? I’m complaining because your hotels disgusting dangerous smelly unhygienic and I wouldn’t even throw up in there again!!! Asking for a refund here causes offence and resulted in a gob full from Mohammed which resulted in me having to tell him about himself and being pulled away by me mate as he felt I was gonna chin the rude lazy and inept man!! I could have booked the Jury’s inn for the same price and regret this massively Only give one star as it won’t let me submit review without it. If I had my way this place would be shut for crimes against humanity

Worst choice ever tried to be cost effective but never again !! As we thought it was a family run hotel but it is the opposite. Not the best atmosphere. The rooms smelt of cigarette smoke . Curtains wouldn’t close . Stains and bad smells all Around. Worst mistake ever Also ask for a £50 deposit but diddnt want to give receipt to hat I thought was doggie. Avoid at all costs !!!!!!!
255jaynen (2/5): Death Trap and Unhygienic - It’s not even worth the one star rating but I had to select it to write a review. This hotel is a death trap, unhygienic and you would need to be up to date with your tetanus vaccine to stay there. We checked in and checked out within 30 minutes of arrival.
Frankpd133 (2/5): Never again - This shouldnt be consider a 2star hotel, not even a 1. Lying photos, very degradated house. Room was forced entry and couldn't be locked properly ,1 upstairs shower wasnt working , the other one didn't have hot water and staff didn't care to fix it . Kitchen was disgusting, smelling bad and full of grease that wasn't cleaned. House entry doors had no key locks. They kept open because there were rocks keeping the doors from closing Worst money spent on accommodation, I should be paid to be here honestly this shouldnt be classed as a hotel . At all . Where are the hotel inspections ?

CherylTaylorHawes (2/5): Avoid like the plague - Booked this hotel last year. We booked 2 double rooms for 1 night as we were going to see The Killers. I got an e-mail 4 days before to say they were cancelling our rooms. No reason given. We couldn’t book anywhere else as everywhere was fully booked. We had waited 3 years to see The Killlers and because of them we were unable to attend.

Silvia (2/5): - When we arrived we expected to use the kitchen since it was included in the price that we paid and instead we found a dirty kitchen with mould and spoiled food all over the place. The showers and the free WiFi weren’t working and for breakfast we didn’t have many option except cereal and milk.

MrsBlue2012 (2/5): Where do I start! - I had booked a double room with shared facilities for one night's stay. First impression wasn't good. The front door was damaged, and seemed to be left ajar for guests to go in and out. I was asked to leave a £50 deposit for breakages? There were 2 cups on the windowsill with milk and coffee, but no kettle. There was no remote for the TV. When I washed my hands in the shared bathroom, the top of the tap came off in my hand. I had only been there 5 minutes. I went to find some assistance, and when the manager came to look at the tap he said "oh, it's broken" he also had trouble getting the light to come on. I asked for another room. The 2nd room I was offered had a kettle, but no cups. The door to the room was really hard to open, and there was a hole around the door handle. The top drawer of the wardrobe was also broken, and there were bits of furniture outside the door on the landing. There were holes all over the wall of the shared bathroom. I asked where the remote was for the TV. I was told that the people who were 'living there' had lost the remote? It seemed that the hotel is used for long term stays, and they do not seem to have been respectful of the facilities. The breakfast consisted of a jug of cornflakes, a jug of orange juice and some bread and butter. I know it was only a 2 star hotel, but the whole experience was quite upsetting. It was awful, and I don't understand how this hotel has passed inspection? I was charged £53 for this stay for one night, and it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in
Graham (2/5): Longlands Hotel, Middlesbrough. Awfull - Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.no bedside tables, lamp on floor 5 feet away, a kettle on floor no cup or coffee/tea, no lightshades and only one light working, toilet roll WET, handle hanging off toilet, noisy toilet taking 20 mins to refill, light switches looked dodgy, 1 towel for 2 people occupancy, piles of used mattresses in reception area, insisted on taking £50 IN CASH as a deposit for damage or theft in room😆, then on check out had to wait for deposit while they sent someone to check room. No food, no bar. One person turned up and they told him they had over booked he had no room, he lost his temper and he was taken away in handcuffs. This so called hotel is an absolute dump, it should not be allowed to trade. I am stunned that Hotels.com sell people rooms in this pit. Me, a married couple, and another person were all sitting in another hotels bar up the road trying to find alternative accommodation but everywhere was fully booked. Don't even think of staying at Longlands, it's a disgusting hotel.
HARVEY (2/5): Awful. Run-down and poorly maintained - Terrible hotel that is clearly not looked after. It's like a 90s youth hostel that's been left to rot. Our room #2 was awful. Dated wallpaper & dirty walls. Tatty furniture, falling apart. Blind had slats missing. Curtain rail but no curtain! Kettle but no cups. Horribly worn bedsheets. A TV that didn't turn on & no remote control either. It wouldn't cost much to improve the look of the room or fix a few things. But there's been no effort whatsoever to do so. Bathroom was clean but uncared for. A broken panel near the toilet. We had a 3-bed room & they gave us just 1 towel! To share? Didn't bother finding out what the breakfast was like. I accept it's a cheap hotel but you still have a right to expect some kind of standard (it's not a 1-star let alone 2). I wouldn't stay there again even if it was free. Any positive reviews must be fake & written by staff.
jridgway29 (2/5): APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE - Ordered a room for the Middlesbrough vs Tottenham ten days prior to the game as this was the only hotel left in the town centre. Paid for the room three days prior to the game. Got into Middlesbrough two and and a half hours before the game. We were a 5 minute walk away from the hotel whereby I was emailed by the company to say that our room was no longer avaliable and our booking had been cancelled! Completely unacceptable to do this at such short notice and were it not for a last minute hotel found in Redcar on Booking.com, we'd have been without a bed for the night. Absolutely disgusting customer service, should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.
haylesbeth (2/5): HEALTH HAZARD HOTEL DO NOT GO!!!!! - THE MOST DIRTY, DISGUSTING, FILTHY hotel I've EVER seen. On arrival, unsecured patio door was entry, woman on reception on phone to friend in foreign language...carried on conversation whilst booking me in. £50 damage deposit needed...this had t been effectively communicated to me when booking. Not shown to room or even pointed I right direction! In room...burnt out heater as room so cold, electrics poking out of wall, paper thin pillows, beds not changed, mattress fresh stains all over, kettle full of water and rusty element. Broken blind. Bathroom...hole in floor showing plumbing, filthy shower, damp toilet roll, mirror off wall struts poking out, toilet brown! Holes/dints in wall Went back downstairs noticing that all the broken pieces of bed were piled up in breakfast area, dark lounge area. I asked for refund as the entire experience was causing my anxiety to be heightened...they were going to try & swap us to another room but I just wanted to leave...lucky escape I think!!

Robert (4/5): Filthy! - The room was filthy and did not seem as though it had been cleaned in quite a while the bedding was filthy and down the back of the tabel with the kettle there was a lot of rubbish.
staceycD6818DE (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Simple terms it’s a CRACK DEN!! asked us for a £50 deposit! No clue why as the room is a total dump anyway, nothing in the room not even a mirror, we asked for extra pillows as we had one wafer thin pillow each and was told there was no extra pillows! there was a radiator on the wall that was left on all night and was unbearable to not have the windows open so as we opened the windows it made the noise even louder and was situated on a main road, could hear police cars speeding up and down also the drug dealers that kept turning up! Woke up with sore lips and eyes! people in and out all night long there is no lock on the front main door! People just kept turning up and leaving all through the night! People sat on stairs outside the room! The doors are not fire doors either! The worst night sleep Iv ever had did not feel safe at all would definitely not wanted to stay here on my own! In reception there was a notice that I will attach to photos… it’s now 7am and we are up and ready to go! Upon check out once we came out the room two people that looked like they had been dragged through a hedge backwards and had drugs on the stairs we had to ask them to move so that we could get passed them and the look they gave us well if looks could kill! Then receptionist had the actual cheek to go and check the room and then asked us how much deposit we paid, we also had to ask them to delete the photo of our ID but the man on reception said he will Ask the night person to do it later!! Shouldn’t have been done on a mobile phone due to data protection!! Also the pictures on the website are far from what they are really like so that’s false advertising as well!! Fuming is an understatement all they said was that he was sorry!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Oh and our FULL continental breakfast was a bowl of cereal and some stale ditch teas!! Pics below!! DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO CATCH ANYTHING!
David (2/5): Homeless Shelter - Not a Hotel - Arrived early and asked about the chance of checking in early, discovered me and my friend who’d booked a twin room had been given a double! I showed him my confirmation but he was saying he’s screen says a double and that’s that. I explained two grown men aren’t sharing a double and at that point he said for £25 he could sort it 😡 I refused and told him we’d be back to check in after football match ( reason we’d travelled ). Upon our return he said nothing he could do and give us a key to a double room that was disgusting - no pillows, peeling wallpaper and a shabby shared bathroom. I’m convinced he has DSS permanent residents as it was noisy most the night and had people lounging about who obviously lived there, it just wasn’t a nice place. The only time there was any apology was when i collected my £50 deposit - I think they’d then realised i’d be leaving a review. In summary - resembles a homeless shelter, staff unhelpful, decor in poor state and overall just a no go area. Totally took the shine of a weekend we’d been looking forward to, never again!

Scottyd783 (2/5): Crackhouse chic - Arguably the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Stayed here due to a domestic emergency and needed somewhere at last minute. I can see why this was available Front door looks like someone has kicked it in The hotel smells of weed. I went to go and get some food from place across the road and came back and there was an obvious drug user sat on the landing directly outside my room. This place seems to be visited by lots of folk who don’t appear to stay here and are loud and abrupt shouting and swearing outside in the car park at about midnight So my room was horrid. Room b1 10 should any management want to go and have a look. The bed is tiny and the mattress wafer thin and very worn- I’ve been awake since 0300 ( it’s now 0540 and I cannot sleep ) . Greasy hair marks stain the wall. Wall paper is hanging off the wall the bathroom is exceptionally tired and heavily worn. The shower is hanging off the wall and the cubicle is cracked and needs replacing. I’m waiting for first light and will be out of here so won’t be able to comment on the breakfast
chrisgX1126MV (2/5): don't stay there - absolutely terrible didn't even stay ,sheets stunk of fabreeze got asked for 20 quid for the key .now I no why absolutely terrible don't book it .it’s like a bail hostel ,didn’t feel safe not my cup of tea I was gutted when I walked in I thought it was somewhere to get a drink for the evening oh wow was I mistaken
rossibop (2/5): Pile of crap - Pile of crap. No toilet in the room. Sheets are yellow. Sink doesn’t unplug. Asked for £10 deposit upon arrival which wasn’t stated anywhere on the website. Could get a premier inn much better standard for roughly the same price. DON’T GO HERE!! The room smelled of cigarettes. Did not end up staying here for obvious reasons, £41 down the drain 🙄
