Guest Reviews
- Paul (8/5): - Landlady great and she gave good dining options.
- peter (8/5): - room was tidy and clean, didn't spend a lot time in Highfield house but was ok for the time we needed
- Arthut (10/5): - Host Debbie was very welcoming, the room was very clean and the bed linen very fresh. The room could do with a little TLC with a wonky toilet seat, shower door loose and the creeking floor boards that added character to the room. Hotel is located to easy access all Skipton amenities and surrounding area. I would recommend this hotel.
- Susan (10/5): Only 10 minute walk from centre of Skipton. - Highfield house is very close to centre of Skipton. Parking is relatively easy in the area. Our host was available when I called to ask about parking on drive and as she had finished preparing the rooms allowed us to check in then. Very helpful.
- Mark (8/5): Long weekend in Skipton - Positives:
Comfy bed
Fridge in room
Yorkshire tea and Grandma Wilds biscuits in room replenished daily
Hosts were friendly and offered advice on local area
5-min walk to train or bus station
Close to shops, pubs, restaurants
Negatives:
No window in bathroom and extractor fan and a bit noisy
Shower took a few minutes to warm up
If you like to sleep with the window open the road outside is quite busy
Entrance hallway was a bit smelly
Overall, good value for money. Would stay here again.
- Harold (10/5): - From the moment we arrived Debbie made us feel so welcome, the room was spotless, the bed was ready comfy and the room was lovely and warm. In the morning when we went for breakfast Debbie greeted us with a good morning and a smile. Breakfast was well cooked, plentiful and set us up for the day. Thank you Debbie for making our stay so enjoyable. Harold & Gene Evans
- Charles (8/5): - Very central indeed and comfortable.
- Harold (10/5): - Nothing to complain about. Location great, less than 5 mins into skipton. Beautiful room. Will highly recommend.
- Michael (8/5): Nice place to explore Skipton - Lovely friendly landlady who arranged for us to get in early (not pre-booked).
Really comfy bed making for a good night's sleep. Clean (if a tad dated i.e old doors, dark shower room) So, overall, a good place (very conveniently located for the town center) We will return. Thank you.
- NEIL (10/5): Good place to stay - Simply perfect on all aspects
- George (10/5): - Me and partner really enjoyed our stay there was nothing the owners couldn’t do the bed was great nights sleep definitely stay again 5 stars from me
- Paul (6/5): - Dated
- David (10/5): High marks for Highfield - Very pleasant stay at Highfield House over the weekend. Greeted by our host on arrival and all essential information shared. Room (4) was clean and adequate size. Towels etc changed each day where necessary. Only had breakfast on our last morning and regrets that we didn't try it before. It was lovely. Was lucky enough to get one of the parking spaces so didn't need to touch the car all weekend. Its a very showy walk into the busy end of town. Only criticism would be the weak wifi signal which barely registered on our phones. Think this has to be seen as a standard requirement these days. No hesitation recommending to others and will certainly consider again if we are lucky enough to make another trip to Skipton.
- JONATHAN (8/5): Pleasant guest house - A very pleasantly guest house in a good location to enjoy the town
- Gill (10/5): Little escape. - Absolutely loved my short stay, Debbie is the perfect hostess, so friendly and helpful. Will definitely return
- Marie (10/5): - Wonderful stay great position and extremely clean
- GILLIAN (10/5): - The owner/manager is lovely and was most accommodating which is why I always try and stay here when I visit Skipton. The room was lovely and the full English breakfast delicious! It’s like visiting family! The location is superb too - an easy walk to the town center and several restaurants. Highfield House will be on the top of my list for my next visit!
- Janet (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely guest house, clean, nice room, lovely breakfast and a very friendly host.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really friendly staff - comfortable stay.
- stewart (10/5): Top hotel - Clean and very comfortable excellent stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Debbie was warm, friendly and chatty. Lovely old house. The room was a good size and comfortable. Daily top up of biscuits and tea/coffee. The towels were enormous and changed during our 3 night stay, which was a lovely surprise. Would benefit with better lighting for applying makeup. The breakfast was excellent and filling. The location was great and there were plenty of leaflets for exploring Yorkshire. We would definitely stay again. Alina & Steve
- Jennie (8/5): - We booked to go here about a month before the date; unfortunately hubby who has a long term illness became worse on the day we were due to go, but bearing in mind the published strict cancellation policy we decided to go. We got a warm friendly greeting on arrival and managed to park the car in one of the two car parking spaces. The room was large and looked out over the adjacent Tesco store and railway line beyond. The room had all the usual facilities, although I would comment that it is probably in need of updating. Breakfast is the standard full English or any combination of, and kippers. There is also a limited selection of cereals, fruit and yogurt. I chose coffee to drink and asked for strong which was progressively strengthened by the day to meet my taste!
After 3 nights hubby got worse and we had to leave - the landlady kindly let us off the final nights fee which was good.
To summarise this is a bit of an old fashioned type of B&B in need of a bit of updating but with really friendly staff. It is 5 minute walk from town. There is some traffic noise at night which is hard to avoid especially if the window is open.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner was very nice and recommended us fantastic local places to eat and visit. Breakfast was very tasty and freshly made. The overall opinion is highly positive. We recommend this accommodation.
