Guest Reviews
- Bryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (10/5): A lovely short break. - The lovely reception we had from the hosts Peter and Jane, which included a very much needed cup of tea. The room was very welcoming and comfortable and the breakfasts were fantastic.
There are some super walks from the doorstep. The Forest of Dean is certainly worth exploring. Nothing. Everything was perfect.
- Traceyloug (10/5): Edale House gets top marks for a lovely stay - Welcoming hosts, bedroom comfortable and tastefully decorated, breakfasts were delicious and special touch with easter eggs on Easter Sunday, great stock in the honesty bar and nice snug to relax. Good to have use of the wet/dry room to put muddy boots and rain jackets. Fantastic location, thanks for a lovely stay n/a
- Nicolette (10/5): Very accommodating - Pete and Jane were very helpful, we had a beautiful breakfast with fresh fruit and locally sourced meat, and dairy products. It had a personal touch. They welcomed our dog Cadi, she even had treats on the breakfast table in a little bowl for her.
Very accommodating. N/a
- Naomi (10/5): Comfortable place to stay - Beds were very comfortable, lots of options for breakfast, had everything you would need. Perfect location for exploring the forest of Dean.
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable and spotlessly clean room overlooking the village green. A peaceful location, with lots to do nearby. Lots of choices for breakfast, and good places to eat lunch and dinner nearby. Lovely hosts.
- Emma (9/5): Fab stay. Thank you - Super friendly and helpful. Comfortable room and lovely breakfast
- Kate (10/5): Comfortable, relaxing and welcoming. - Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Full of information and recommendations. Lovely sitting room with a well stocked honesty bar. It was a lovely room with plenty of anything you might need. The breakfast was seamless and very tasty.
Would happily return again anytime we are in the area. Nothing!
- Darren (10/5): Lovely, friendly, relaxing and an ideal base for exploring the Forest Of Dean and surrounding area. - From the outset everything went great, we were made a cup of tea and our bags were carried upstairs without being asked. It was a lovely room with a nice view over the green, decent tv and the shower we used was good and easy to use. There was also plenty of sticks of coffee/ teabags, etc and if we needed more they were just outside on the landing. The breakfasts were just right as well with plenty on offer and the evening meals that we'd booked prior to arriving were superb.
The first two nights we went to the Fountain Inn about a five minute walk away - really friendly and full of character - the size and quality of the meals was excellent, I certainly recommend the steak with the peppercorn sauce. On the third evening we went to the Woodman Inn right next door to the Edale as the Fountain Inn did'nt do food after 3 o'clock on Sundays, it was very good but not as good as the Fountain. It's also a good base for exploring the Forest Of Dean, one of the best places we visited was Symond's Yat - we parked on the west side in Ye Old Ferrie Inn carpark, maybe a bit steep, narrow, bumpy and twisty to get down to but it has a just a standard pay and display machine to use - no fuss - unlike at the Saracens the other side which has variable rates, Qr Codes ,etc to deal with. There' s also a wide variety of walks to do from here, it appeared quieter on the west side when we visited and if at all possible you have to do the rope bridge further down - it's good fun. There is'nt a huge amount of parking outside the property - however, there's no problem parking further down the street - we parked down near the memorial hall - and even in August we only got caught out the first night as we'd been delayed on the motorways on the way down.
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast and location Nothing all good
- Jan (9/5): Short Break in a comfortable and very pleasant Forest of Dean B and B with very welcoming hosts. - Easy parking at the front of the property, welcoming tea or coffee on arrival. Bedroom was a good size and had thoughtful extras for comfort. Bathroom clean and well stocked with towels and shower gels. Excellent breakfast menu with plenty of choice. Warm and welcoming hosts. - Julie (10/5): The stay at Edale was exceptional way above 4 star - The breakfast was excellent plenty to choose from the hosts were lovely friendly knowledgeable and helpful a lovely place to stay There was absolutely nothing we didn’t like
- Mark (10/5): Excellent - we would definitely recommend Edale House to anyone. - The location was excellent, right in the heart of Parkend.
I booked a room at Edale house for my elderly parents - we had originally booked a cottage for me, my wife and my parents, but as my parents are elderly they found the stairs very difficult. Edale house provided a ground floor room and were extremely accommodating at very short notice, and my parents loved their stay. Nothing!
- Janice (9/5): Superb -
- Jeff (10/5): A very pleasant stay. - Pleasant, welcoming and helpful hosts. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Good location opposite the village cricket ground in a peaceful village. Decent pub next door and a short walk from another both of which do good food. A good base for exploring the Forest of Dean. There wasn't really anything I wasn't happy with.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Covell (10/5): Exceptional - Very homely. Hosts very friendly. Let us book in early to allow us to get to a family function

- Phil (8/5): Pleasant place to stay in the heart of the Forest of Dean - Very friendly welcome; excellent location for exploring the Forest of Dean; good onsite parking; excellent full English breakfast; good guest lounge for relaxing in the evening. The room was rather small, particularly the bathroom. The wifi was poor to non-existent which also meant that the "Internet-enabled TV" simply didn't work.
- Lynda (10/5): A great B&B - comfortable, clean room with thoughtful touches and a great cooked breakfast. - Stayed here whilst visiting relatives in the Forest of Dean. A great B&B, room was very well-appointed and nice and cool on a very hot day. We were given tea on arrival and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds, nice bathroom and shower, excellent freshly-cooked breakfast. Good pub next door - didn't eat there, but beer was good! Everything was good!
- Kelda (10/5): Exceptional -

It's a wonderful place to stay for walkers and cyclists due to the proximity of nearby tracks and the extra facilities offered by Edale House eg safe cycle storage, wet room etc There are also lots of places of interest to visit in the area and the Woodman Inn next door is excellent for evening meals.
- Roger (10/5): Little Gem - What a lovely place to stay, perfect location, owners were friendly and welcoming, very clean and all up together, room had everything you needed, nice and bright & lovely comfortable bed, breakfast was really good , we would definatley stay here again...
- Duncan (10/5): A great weekend retreat - We stopped for a couple of nights to use as a base for exploring the Wye valley. The owners made us feel very welcome and offered recommendations for places to visit near by.
The rooms are very well equipped/decorated and funished. The breakfast bacon was so tasty we actually went to the butchers it came from to bring a couple of pounds back home with us!!
There is a pub/restaurant next door. On the Saturday evening there was a band on but we could hardly hear it in our room even though it overlooked the pub.
Would go back again when we next want to explore the area more.
- Jeremy (10/5): Outstanding - Hard to fault for service, comfort and the breakfast! Well situated in the Forest
- Brian (10/5): Wonderful experience! - We spent two nights here recently and thoroughly enjoyed it! Wonderful hosts, fantastic meals and a perfect location.
