Guest Reviews
- Robert (10/5): - Great history, very quiet and relaxed
- Ted (8/5): - This is a lovely old historic building with beautiful grounds. The wine bar is wonderful. Sleeping rooms are spacious but lack a bit in terms of decor—they seem very plain. Many nice casual seating areas. Morning coffee options are not good.
- curtis (8/5): Cool place if you want a rural setting. - Interesting old building renovated into a winery, wedding venue and hotel. Hotel guest parking right by the elevator. Staff was friendly and helpful. Easy driving to suburban shopping and dining in the Liberty area. We chose this hotel due to its interesting history and proximity to Kansas City. I would stay there again if I was in the area.
- Nick (10/5): - Nice streamlined check-in and check-out.
- Alec (10/5): - Super fun location! My wife and I attended a local conference and this inn provided the perfect place to escape the city and enjoy some peace and quiet!
- David (10/5): - Parking was convenient
- Brandon (10/5): - Overall this place is nice and the history behind it is cool. It’s very quit and there’s a bar right inside the hotel which is nice and convenient.
- Kelly (10/5): - This winery/inn is nothing but exceptional. From the rich history to the warmth of the blankets, I loved my experience here. When I booked to stay the week, I was unaware of the history but don't be alarmed!!! This was one of them most enjoyable stays. 10/10
- Angela (10/5): - The room was roomy, very quiet and peaceful.
- Kirk (10/5): - This place has rich history and beautiful architecture from time gone by. The staff was very hospitable and polite. The Inn and grounds feature several comfortable sitting areas. The Inn is a short distance from downtown Liberty so convenient for dining. It was a great getaway for a 39th anniversary!
- Desiree (6/5): - The website lists it as a Winery... with photos of weddings, gazebos, and brides on lush green grasses. It is actually more like a hellscape for the paranormal enthusiast. Upon driving up to the residence I got an overwhelming feeling of turn around and run. Yet my reservation was made and nonrefundable to I proceeded... with caution. Then at every turn there unfolded more horrors to be found. I have never been so scared in all of my life. I was there for a total of 12 min., I took photos and left. (I didn't even see the cemetery, but so much evil was wafting from the place I knew I was not safe there.) I even called from another hotel the next morning to check out of my room. VERY SKETCHY PLACE... beware when visiting.
- Gary (10/5): - We loved the authenticity of this place and if you’re looking for a bit of a spooky stay, this is the place for you
The winery and wines were great!!!
- Janet (10/5): - Love this unique hotel!!! The rooms are incredibly spacious. Beds are super comfy. Staff is wonderful and the wine bar is awesome.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Awesome
- Victoria (10/5): - Great place. Much better than the hotel chains at a better price.
- Tyler (2/5): - Terrible property, unsafe, dirty, dirty room, dirty towels, smelt like mildew and musty, dirty shower, thin walls can hear everything, nobody on property to help, was so hot and thermos was locked so we couldn’t change it, the “vineyard” is literally 1 tree. Fountain in the pictures literally looks like it hasn’t been turned on in decades. Abandoned and condemned building next door with all window shot out and graffiti. The bed was suppose to be a queen and it was a full. Place itself was partially boarded up. This place should be under investigation for cleanliness. This place was the worst place I have ever been to, and the pictures are not accurate. It’s in a very unsafe area of MO. Reported this facility. Unsure how they’re still in business.
- Josh (6/5): - Interesting place. It’s unusual and eclectic. It’s not fancy. But it’s functional. If you’re looking for a unique and unusual place to step back in time and have an “old world” experience, this is the place. Don’t mind the human skeleton in the artifacts room, or the orphanage history. I didn’t see or hear any ghosts. Yeah, it’s a thing they say. Nice cute wine bar too.
- Hannah (10/5): - I’ve stayed at Belvoir 5 or 6 times now and I love it every time. It’s our go to place in the KC area.
- Rory (10/5): - I LOVE this place. It's gorgeous and I'm honored to have had the opportunity to spend a day/night in such a unique space. It is not set up like a traditional inn/hotel. And you must bring your own food as there isn't any on the property.
- Dennis and Lana (10/5): - This was a great experience. It was rich in history. The owners were knowledgeable and very enjoyable to talk to. Great wine!!
Would be a beautiful wedding venue.
- Carmin (10/5): Perfect, small hotel - Cool place to stay. Clean and comfortable. Fun to wander and explore the grounds. Extra perk was the winery.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Definitely hit the Odd part of the Odd fellows - The place felt very unwelcoming as soon as you reached the parking lot, very worn down, unkept feeling. Odd Fellows over the entrance door is fairly accurate, as our experience was just that, odd. Not odd as in the touted old and haunted, just unwelcoming. Enough so that we left without staying. After barely stepping into our rooms we found them to feel more like a hostel room, than an inn. The rooms had no furnishings, extremely vast in any use of color, lighting, pictures, etc. and were very hot and still. When we went to the host to state we were not going to be staying she seemed unconcerned and didn’t inquire as to why, or if there was something that could be done to make us feel more comfortable about our stay, another nod to the unwelcome nature of the place. The wine tasting room was also very minimalist and tight feeling. Ultimately what we were expecting based on the website was far from what we experienced. Based upon our experience I would not be able to recommend this place as an outing experience/destination.
- Janet (10/5): Spacious rooms, glorious old architecture! - We love this hotel! We were here last year and came back this year! Incredibly spacious rooms. Very comfy beds. And such unique setting in a beautiful old building with so much history and unique glorious architecture from days gone by. And their wine at the wine bar is delicious! Try the port 😊
- Brian (10/5): - The staff were super helpful and nice. The property is beautiful, quiet and very relaxing with a very unique and historical vibe. Parking was super easy and accommodating to my giant XL Van. The room was huge and very clean with an ultra comfortable bed, couches and chairs. I will try to stay here in all my future visits to the area.
- Daniel (10/5): - This was a wonderful find. Incredibly historic building with the possibility of being haunted.
- Steven (10/5): - Nice property
- Ryan (10/5): - Everyone that we have came across staff wise has been nothing but helpful and very kind, answering any queations that we have had and just making small talk. The estate is very beautiful and rustic. On top of that, they have a verity of delicious wines. Highly recommend for a delightful staycation/close getaway.
- Joli (10/5): - Everything about this place is unique, which we loved. It’s a very nicely renovated turn of the century Odd Fellows home. The setting is on a large property that has a country feel; deer roaming. Stories abound of it being haunted by ghosts, which it does look outwardly like ghosts would be here; alas, no stories for us to report. Two sister buildings next door are literally falling apart. We found the spacious rooms, updating, museum-like atmosphere, and friendly staff (Ashley) welcoming. We will be back!
- Laura (10/5): Historic KC Gem - The grounds are gorgeous, the history is fascinating and the staff is delightful! We will for sure be back and highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charm on a budget - The building is very interesting and historical and I enjoyed the location. I appreciated that the owners are working with the architecture and trying to bring the building back to life.
The room was comfortable. It was loud though. It was easy to hear the room next door; people walking, talking, etc... Sound proofing is non-existent.
There was not maid service, which was fine with me; I like the room to be left alone once I've occupied, but some might want more service. In this case, it's all on you to say whether you need towels, coffee, etc... which they are happy to do.
Room could have perhaps used a better cleaning. It didn't feel like it hadn't, but it did feel like they could have done a step more.
There is nothing in the room as to what is available in the facility, or what there is to do in the area. That would have been a nice thing for someone from out of the area.
The best way to describe is that it's like going to a friends house to stay when they aren't there and you are left to your own devices.
I wouldn't discourage anyone from staying, but if you want more service, you should pay more and go to a hotel. This was charm on a budget.
- Brian (10/5): - Great place, I will definitely stay there again. It is definitely haunted, had some great experiences while I was there.
- Peyton (10/5): Unplanned Drive-By Night at the Inn - Amazing, informative, impromptu private mini-tour by Ken!
Really amazing history to the grounds!
Got to check out the old hospital and the old “old folks home.”
No ‘concrete’ PA activity for the spouse and I, but felt a lil on my toes until Zzzzz…..
However, definitely slept with lights on…
Beautiful, majestic place overall.
10/10 recommend top of list when nearby!!!
- John (10/5): Unique, out of the way place - Looking for a beautiful, quiet stay that is off the beaten path? This fits the bill. The Inn at Belvoir Winery is a unique property. The check-in was easy and quick. The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. We didn't have time to enjoy the bar this visit but we will be sure to include time on our next visit.
- Jeff (4/5): - Great location and the property itself is nice and quiet. BUT...the walls are paper thin, and you hear every little movement, every word spoken by other guests. The room itself was semi-clean. The couch had a super funky smell and the bed was not comfortable. Worse of all, the thermostat was set to go no lower than 70° and the room never got there. Given it was 90+ degrees outside, this was not good at all. Elevator was very warm and smelled bad.
- Leo (10/5): - Great
- Mary (10/5): Lovely Stay - The property is lovely. They have remodeled the main building. It is beautiful and the rooms are well done and very comfortable. It is very quiet and serene. We watched deer and other critters from our window in the evening. We slept well and the bathroom was roomy with a good shower. Within 10 minutes or less, you could be at numerous restaurants and shops. Liberty is a lovely town. I would highly recommend staying here
- James (10/5): - Wasn't quite sure what to expect considering the place looked empty but it was wonderful! Best kept secret in the area for affordable luxury hotels.
- Penny (10/5): - We loved it! Wish we had more time to look around. The building was amazing. My husband and I are older and we just got married a year ago and so it was a pleasant surprise when we walked up to our room and the plaque said Honeymoon Suite (we never had a honeymoon nor have I at 62 stayed in the Honeymoon Suite. I would love to see more of this old building. We would definitely recommend the Inn at Belvoir Winery to anyone needing a place in this location to stay.
- George (8/5): - C
- Michael (8/5): Unique Stay! - The Belvoir Winery Inn is different! It is an old historic place, so don’t expect a super modern experience. We checked in at the bar, which was a little unexpected but went very smoothly. There is a place to park in the back for the Inn guests. The room we had was spacious with a large bathroom, a sitting area and bedroom. The TV had over the air channels but no cable/satellite that I could tell. There were old hardwood floors throughout the room. It’s an historic inn, so yes, the floors squeak. The bed said queen in the room description, but it seemed like a full size to us. At the bar you can taste their wines, which was a great way to end our evening. Overall a very unique experience!
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Loved the location
- Gregg (10/5): - Very nice
- Angela (8/5): - Only thing missing from making this stay 5 stars is the lack of something to drink from 8pm to 11am. We will be back as the winery is absolutely beautiful.
- Gina (4/5): - Suite was a tiny one room with a separate bathroom. Very noisy outside of room. Uncomfortable bed with one tiny tv. No food offered at all. Have to drive minimum of 5 minutes for any food. Even water!
- Erinn (8/5): - Nice place but able to hear every sound from the neighboring room. Woke up tons due to neighbors loud snoring. Needs better soundproofing or spacing of occupants.
- Patricia (10/5): - What a nice, comfortable, and quiet place to stay! I highly recommend!! I have stayed a couple times here and I will return!
- Carrie (10/5): - Beautiful property. Easy access to near by shopping, entertainments, and restaurants
- nickie (10/5): - Check in was super easy! Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and very spacious.
- Katlin (10/5): - This hotel was a great place to stay. When I booked it as a quick stopping point on our trip I was unaware of the history of the property. After getting to the property and doing research on it I was even more pleased with it. I love old buildings and historic places, so it was a great opportunity to stay in a place like this. We arrived after hours and were confused at first about how to get in, but called the number in the listing and staff answered right away and told us exactly where to go and met us with our room keys. The room was clean and simple, but just what we needed. Being able to walk around the property and see the outside of the old buildings the next morning was a great perk for me. I would recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back and stay again.
- socorro (6/5): Cross reference on all your bookings - Well- we arrived at night it was dark and didn’t have an entrance door- we call the place and a lady came out and tell us where to go , she left before we went in .
We took the elevator to the 3rd floor and went in to our room ( 4).
My husband fell asleep very quickly while I stay up watching tv .( titanic movie)
While searching for a coffee shop for the next morning I kept hearing steps outside our door, in the hallway. This went on for about 2 hours. I eventually fell asleep. The next morning my husband said he slept great and I told his that if all the noise/steps in the hallway. As we left the place we got out in the wrong floor, it look a bit creepy. But we found our way out.
Driving out we got to see the ruins next door and we went online to see what this place was..
welll surprise surprise…
We didn’t know anything about this. We were tired and just wanted to get a god night sleep.
Also didn’t see any other guest , and when we arrived and ask the lady where was everyone, she quickly said “ they all
Left for dinner “”
Now we see— all the signs where there . 😬
If I didn’t told my husband of all the noise before we found out what it was he would have thought it wasn’t true 💀
- Ruth (10/5): - Loved staying again.
Its such a unique piece of history.
- Sarah (10/5): Fun girls trip - I stayed here with my 13-year-old daughter. We felt safe and cared for. We had a blast exploring the spooky grounds 👻, and there were lots of laughs playing the board games provided. We picked Twister & Uno. The next day, the inn hosted a Sip & Shop (wine slushie for me). We got matching permanent jewelry with her birthstone, some homemade treats, and goodies for our pups. The towels were luxurious, and I appreciate the innkeeper giving us a late checkout to accommodate our schedule. My only suggestion is to offer a charging station in the room.
- matthew (10/5): - Very unique experience.
- Charleen (10/5): Awesome experience - We came for the wine and stayed for the experience. The room was comfortable. We had great water pressure, which is unusual in those old buildings. Beautiful property, great wines for tasting, and excellent staff.
- Camille (8/5): - It was fine for what it was. Room wasn't as clean as I'd expect, i.e. tub hair catcher had hairs and debris caught from more than just the most recent guest, plastic cup of liquid of some kind from previous guests sitting in window frame, bug carcasses on the floor by the windows, small stuff like that.
Not cleanliness related, but noticeable that the bathroom vanity light fixture had two different shades of bulbs which made it off-putting to have them on.
Overall it was what I needed as I just needed a place to crash for the night, but places like this hold so much potential to provide particularly delightful, unadvertised and unexpected personal touches to the hospitality experience and that wasn't my experience here, this time.
Definitely worth staying, though, if unique inns attract you (they do me)!
- Ruth (10/5): - Loved this place!!
- JOLENE (10/5): - If you're looking for a quiet place to stay mid-week, this is a great place. I had the place more or less to myself, so it was very peaceful. I'm sure there is much more going on on weekends, so your mileage my vary, but I had a very calm, relaxing retreat. I saw deer a few times during my stay, and the grounds are a nice size.
- Roy (10/5): - Quiet
- K (10/5): This is a must-stay hotel - Very cool location! Ashley, the hostess/bartender, was very welcoming and accommodating. We were able to enjoy a glass of wine while exploring the grounds. The room was comfortable and the bed was very comfortable. The only downside was thin walls where we could hear the couple entering the room next door at 1:30 am.
- Sebastian (10/5): - Always such a great time staying here!! Jesse has a great team and always keeps the place looking beautiful and clean. Can’t wait to be back!!
- Christie (10/5): - Incredible experience!
- Jim (2/5): - Unfortunately, we had an awful experience. We were very tired and were looking forward to a good time sleep. The walls are quite thin and our neighbors kept us up all night. Starting at 1 am until 4 am, we heard them talking loud, laughing, banging stuff around. And then we had to listen to them having sex with the bed banging against the wall. It was until we were ready to leave that we found the ear plugs that supplied. Will not stay here again.
- Kaylin (6/5): - This was a cool property and would be great for a
trip with time to explore, but didn't work well as a quick stop. Half the power was out when I arrived and I didn't get to enjoy a shower the next morning as the water was freezing cold and bathroom lighting hardly worked. I did appreciate the cleanliness of the room and building and want to come back in the future to learn more about the history of the property!
- Bethany (10/5): - Unique and marvelous stay!
- Aaron (10/5): - Cool area with alot of history
- Gary (10/5): Great Experience - The Innkeeper was friendly and a great ghost...I mean Host! Will definitely stay again if in the area.
- Rachelle (10/5): Perfect - Perfect! Comfortable, relaxing, beautiful, historical, easy to check in & out, friendly, affordable, clean and accommodating. Large room, comfy bed and charming decor.
- Jason (10/5): - The feel of a family home but with all the best parts of a hotel without the bad things.
- Tracy (10/5): - The staff at the Belvoir were approachable and friendly. Since it was a week night, there weren't many visitors, so we had a chance to talk with the staff and owner. The property was amazing and filled with history. We enjoyed exploring during our free time. I would definitely stay here again.
- Jessie (10/5): - We’ve been there 3 times now, it’s beautiful, great price for the size of rooms, has small mini fridge and coffee maker, no microwave, has Roku tv. Liberty is a good shopping area. Will most likely be back!
- Michael (10/5): - The place was beautiful the staff were friendly. We were 20 min past checkout and noone was being rude or pushy it was a very pleasent stay. Def going back.
- Jason (10/5): - Felt like a nice bed and breakfast. Really friendly staff and easy check and and out. Will stay again. Tesla charger was a plus as well. With parking out back the elevator was close and minimal walking required.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Excellent Getaway - We went for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. This was an incredible find. The winery is in the Odd Fellows Home administration building. It is the lone restored building on the campus of the abandoned Odd Fellows Home old folk's home, orphanage, and hospital. There was a school building for the orphans, as well.
If you like haunted and abandoned places, this is definitely your place. There are supposedly ghosts about, but we were left alone. The museum downstairs does have a skeleton, though.
The inn itself has plenty of space for meetings, banquets, or weddings. The bar offers tastings for a reasonable price. The rooms are very spacious and quiet, except for a vent in the bathroom that banged a little in the wind- dispapointingly, it wasn't a ghost.
There is a kitchenette on the guest floor and a seating area with board games. This would be a great place to host a family reunion.
There are no dining options on site, but the town of Liberty isn't t that far of a drive. We had breakfast downtown. Kansas City Plaza is about a half-hour drive, and we visited our favorite restaurant for dinner. Everything is close enough to be accessible, but you still get the feeling of being in the country.
Overall, excellent stay. Great staff, comfy, clean, quiet, conveniently located, and lots of fun. Take the time to walk the grounds. It is incredible.

- Robert (10/5): - Fun, quirky (and supposedly haunted) place. Squeaky clean. Quiet (no ghosts seen by me). A perfect night.
- Glenn (10/5): - We have stayed here twice in their off season (February). Got a very good rate. Enjoyed walking the halls and grounds to learn about the history of the place. Very quiet. Went to Ginger Sue's for breakfast. We will stayed there again if we are in the area.
- Laurie (8/5): - What a beautiful, historic building. Our 2nd stay at this lovely inn. We love the character of the rooms and the common space. The wine was good also
- David (10/5): - Great place. Peaceful
- Thomas (10/5): - What an incredible unique and historic place, great history, great bar, the local wines were excellent, great bartender, I’ll be coming back every year.
- Rachel (10/5): Cute and comfortable - The inn was very cute and extremely comfortable. Check in went smoothly, and my room was spacious. I'd love to stay again, next time I'm in the area!
- Sadira (10/5): - Wonderful
- Theresa (8/5): - It is a very interesting and unique property. Our second time here, we love it. Just no eating options for meals there. Also, no microwaves, which would be really nice to have in the room.
😊
- Allen (10/5): - This is an amazing historical property. Huge, comfortable rooms. If you have a chance to stay here, take it! You will not regret it.
- Sebastian (10/5): - Have been coming here for years now and it never disappoints!! Always a nice surprise seeing the owner (Jesse) when you check out and want some wine. He’s always been so down to Earth and great with conversation. Beautiful property and wonderful wine!!
- stephen (10/5): - Very great atmosphere
- Shawna (10/5): - We have stayed here multiple times. We used to live in this area, and when we visit this is our go to.
Historically facinating with delicious wine and ambience.
- Amanda (6/5): - I definitely did not feel welcome upon arrival. No clear directions where to park or check-in. Woman (owner?) at check-in was not friendly, not helpful, and getting off the elevator heading to my room I could hear two people LOUDLY “enjoying their bed” at 3:30PM. (I can’t wait for the property owner’s snarky response to my review just as she makes to any reviews that are not glowing.) I wish I would’ve read ALL reviews before booking. I thought this would be a quiet, calming place to rest post surgery. I was wrong.
- MILTON (10/5): - Quaint place. Check in was smooth. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience.
- David (10/5): - Charming place to stay.
- Michael (4/5): Basic amenities - There is a bed for sleeping, a bathroom for bathroom stuff and a desk and couch. And a TV. They don’t service your room, so the meager coffee supplies last a day. The room temperature was set low. I didn’t realize that until I woke up freezing in the middle of the night. Nothing for breakfast as far as I could tell. I thought the place would have some charm but basically it felt run down. Zero charm. It was cheap though.
- Douglas (10/5): Great place, room location bad - Really love the place, but this stay, was noisy later into the evening due to being across from what used to be a dining area and now just a loud get together area. Had a room that had a glass window over the door so the light from the hallway streamed in. The bed was by the door so was like having a bright nightlight over your head. Also the vent was located right over the bed, so the noise and heat from the vent went right down at you. Learned that when staying here, to request not to stay in room 4. Everything else about the room was great. like comfortable bed and cleanliness
- Luke (10/5): - It was our first time staying overnight and we loved it so much. Staff are excellent and the property is beautiful!
- Aaron (10/5): Charming - I enjoyed my stay. The room was clean with modern amenities yet still had the charm of a building built in 1900. I would stay here again.
- Lori (8/5): - This is billed as a haunted winery. It is difficult to tell if there were paranormal occurances. If a guest was walking around the halls, there would be creaking sounds from the floor. Not impressed as a haunted site.
- Sarah (10/5): - Spent the night at this beautiful place. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back again.
- Wendy (10/5): - The rooms are very spacious with a sitting area and everything was spotlessly clean. The property is historic and has an estate feel.
- claudia (10/5): - Beautiful relaxing place to stay and staff was kimd and courteous
- Tony (10/5): - My wife and I started staying here about 3 years ago. We stay every anniversary now. It's so quiet and very comfortable. We like to walk around the property and look at the empty buildings and take a stroll up to the cemetery. The staff has always been nice when we are there. Never had any issues and they always make us feel like we are at home. We haven't had any ghostly experiences but you never know.
- Don (8/5): - Elevator did not work had to climb three floors
- Karen (10/5): - A wonderful unique place to stay
- SALLIE (8/5): - It was dark when we arrived, and unclear which entrance we needed to go in. More light/lit signage would have helped. Travelocity showed breakfast included, but there was none. Otherwise, clean, comfortable, spacious, unique.
