Guest Reviews
- N (8/5): - Great experience, welcoming and friendly staff. Quick to repond and solve any issues. Cleaning staff doing great job. Will most definitely come back
- Thembisa Phumla (8/5): Could be better - The doors still uses the key not cards, as a female I just felt unsafe, the door kept making noise throughout the night, bathtub needs spray painting it’s not usable in its current state.
- Lodewikus (4/5): - Subject: Margate Hotel accommodation
Please note that I’m unhappy with the accommodation that was booked for my stay at Ray Nkonyeni
The please noisy till late and also early in the morning
There is also a pub and it’s in the noisy place of the town and there people moving in and out the Hotel till late
The place is stuffy and not good for staff member
NB. L***** advised that he has always advised he must not be booked at Margate hotel.
I hope this place get blacklisted and its never used going forward
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible water leaking rooms…. - The hotel was definitely a nice place I am sure in its heydays. The place is old where the renovations are done they are substandard. The carpet in the corridor is old and has bad damp smell. The room is definitely spacious compared to other family rooms I went to buy there is an extension added to the room and Yoh in this rain there was a leak and smell of dampness in the room so people with any hypersensitive airways stay away from their place. When it started raining heaving there was active water dripping and to my suprise when o went to complaint it seemed as if I was inconveniencing them. The housekeeper that night Patience was wonderful, we couldn’t be moved as they said they were full. We slept with that water. In the morning never got a courtesy call from the manager not anyone from reception to find out if we slept well or was there flooding in the room, I decided to check out and only when I was giving the key I was told that the manager wants to speak to me I found this totally wrong? Was he not suppose to be proactive and called the room first things after night handover. I didn’t go see him… who is the client? They called me later wanting my banking details to refund me…told them that it’s good customer service to have checked on us in the morning. A refund is there nor there… the breakfast is substandard food is terrible, not even nicely placed…..overall terrible experience this place should not be rated at all I give it 0%
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Damp smell. Bathroom ceiling water leak. Cockroaches crawling.
Checking in room delayed by approx. an hour.
Extremely noisy guests after 10pm til late - nobody stopped them.
- Xoliswa (8/5): Good - The stay was great, rooms are clean and beautiful.Wish there were mini fridges though in the rooms
- Siyabonga (8/5): Wonderful - Really appreciateed the fact that our fun was not interrupted by Loadshedding. A real big-up. And I've absolutely loved to come back into a cool room(air conditioner). Enjoyed the walking distance from&to the beach. Breakfast buffet was a kill-so glad I've included it on my booking.
- Zikhona (6/5): - The bathroom floor was dirty upon arrival. When we requested a cleaning with room service, everything was cleaned except for the bathroom we asked about earlier!
The neighbours next door made noise until about 3am each night while sitting outside on our balcony
It's an affordable place but not worth a hotel stay!
- Nerry (10/5): - It was fun
- Simamnkele (10/5): - Loved it the experience was nice
- Andile (10/5): Great Stay - My stay was excellent but they should put Microwave to worm food in the rooms since they do not have a kitchen on the Hotel
- Navish (2/5): Scary unsafe and not classy at all - We were promised sea facing but got a room facing the main road. The noise levels were unbearable. The screaming of the people from the pub and the drag racing made the venue feel cheap and scary. Won’t be going there again.
- Karen (6/5): Noisy hotel - The breakfast was good. The hotel rooms were neat and tidy but needs a bit of an upgrade. Passage carpets needs to be washed. Has a damp smell. The cleaners are efficient but not friendly at all and have a bit of attitude. It would of generally been a good stay but the noise levels ruined it. There was a wedding that started at 11am and went on the whole day. It was extremely loud and noisy. The nights are bad as well. No control over loud hotel room parties. If you looking for a peaceful sleep through the night then this hotel is definitely not for you
- Nokuthula (10/5): - Amazing
- Thembisile (8/5): - Walking up the steps from parking to the the 4th
floor was terrible its not easy-going otherwise staff was good
Parking exit getting out the car to access the code the gate is not user-friendly why not having security to do the job Imagine at night parking your car outside before entering the gate safety please and user-friendly to be considered
- Bertha (10/5): Good stay - Amazing
- Viwe Sweetness (10/5): happiness - It was my first time visiting the Margate hotel, I enjoyed my stay, the place is very clean with comfortable beds, very quite and the staff members were very friendly and helping. one thing i would suggest to have is fridge in the bedroom other than that all was 100%
- Bongiwe (10/5): - 🙀Amazing, the staff was very friendly, service & room top notch 👌. Oh wow and the food 😋.
- Zama (10/5): - Amazing, enjoyed our stay
- SAM (8/5): N/A - The stay was nice but the only problem is the Dstv please add more channels its boring to watch that tv.
- Busisiwe (8/5): - They must arrange or add dinner because mostly we checked in in the afternoon i think having dinner would be appreciated
- yoliswa (8/5): - It was very good but you need to include breakfast
- CELE (6/5): Margate Hotel - Stay was ok. Just annoyed by bathing with cold water.
- Candice (4/5): - Upon arrival they refused to give us the price as per hotel.com. after some negotiations we get it. Getting to the room the showers didnt work properly. From 6pm to midnight there was a big feud in the family rooms below us with around 8 drunken people swearing and physically assaulting each other. We called reception several times as we could not get much sleep and was told there was no night manager and they couldn't do anything without security
So we couldn't do anything except fear out lives
- Preash (2/5): - It was the worse hotel I've ever been too especially with my 8 month old baby, the water was yellow and dirty, from the day of the check in we had no hot water we did mention it to reception and nothing was done about it
- Hlengiwe (6/5): 10 - Was excelent
- Seeban (8/5): - The room aircon was not working and the bathroom facilities need to be upgraded.
- Likhanye (10/5): The amazing place. - It was amazing its a good place to stay.
- Ruane (8/5): - Very noisy as it is in the heart of Margate and all the restaurants and pubs are there. But otherwise we had a great stay...
- Verified traveler (6/5): Noise - Only complaint i have about margate hotel. Is the noise. On our floor there were people partying, talking loud. We couldn't sleep. But other than that its a lovely hotel! Receptionists were so amazing too!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The Staff Was Friendly & Welcoming,The Rooms Were Clean But There Was A Lot Of Noise Our Neighborhood & By The Pool In The Parking Lot We Couldn't Sleep Properly But I Enjoyed My Stay
- Hlengiwe (8/5): - My stay in this place was good.. Except disappointed about extending my stay hotel is fully booked.
- Pamela (6/5): - Honestly every time I come book at the hotel I have the same problem, the cleaners will give you a huge sigh of relief when you tell them to not clean your room on your second stay, the third day is a mission! You will be given an attitude for requesting new linen or asking for a mere sweep in and out. I like the actual hotel it's my first preference but unfortunately I will be telling my Co workers to not book here 1Q
- MONDLI (6/5): Margate hotel - All in all hotel room was clean and everything worked fine however, wifi was the only downside as it never worked at all throughout our stay.
- Hlengiwe (8/5): - Was good but aircon it's making noise too much
- Tadios (10/5): - It was very nice everything was perfect hot water their swimming pool was clean their food was supper perfect and the stuf is so frendly we enjoyed every moment of staying at margate hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Some maintenance. - The toilet door does not close easily.
The staff did not refill toilet paper until we asked for more.
There were 4 of us at the hotel (with 2 x King size beds) but they only gave us 2 towels.
The shower head did not spray water well ... very old shower head.
- Lindokuhle (10/5): Awesomeness - Good stay all around. Friendly staff from the reception to the room service. I will be coming back for a couple 9f days again😉.
- Sibongiseni (8/5): brilliant - it was good
- Jackie (2/5): Saturday night from hell!! - We tried to book in 25 minutes early as we had to go to a wedding and were told that no rooms were ready and we could only check in at 2pm ie in 25 minutes time. The noise level by other guests was something that i have never experienced before throughout my travels in Africa. The screaming and partying carried on all night long without a thought for other guests. We woke up to no electricity so couldn't even make a cup of coffee ... mind you there was only one sachet of coffee in the caddy. No bathmat, one pillow each .. a very basic offering not worthy of a 3 star rating!!
- LS (10/5): - It was beautiful, central to other shops and restaurants, very clean and a private pool.
Thank you soo much lastly its very safe
- Vinodha (2/5): Will never return - The noise level at the hotel is like a fish market. We complained 3 times. Nothing was done. The noise went on till 6 am daily. People singing, stomping in the corridor. There is no was of contacting reception via the phone as the number you dial coz to other guests rooms. We often had calls from other guests asking if we where reception. When you get to the room, we needed to come as for the wifi password. Should this not be given on check in? The window area between the window and the wall is black with mould....never been wiped. Things in the rooom has not been pushed and cleaned properly. Areas are Clean only to what the eye can see. The drain in the bathroom are broken and it's very disgusting looking down a dirty drain while you shower or brush your teeth.
- Zama (6/5): No Hot Water - Everything was ok, just that there was no hot water. It only gets slightly warm.
- Rina Botma (2/5): No place for a family stay! - With our arrival drunks on stoep . Ladies of the night were doing business. We decided not to book in. No safe parking. Thugs wondered around where we parked our car. We will appreciate a refund.
- Stuart (6/5): Time for an update!!!!! - This hotel is in dire need of upgrading and updating. It is stuck in the ‘80’s and needs to move with the times. Possibly will get more visitors and people staying there if better amenities And more luxury are offered.
- FA (6/5): - Very misleading from pictures provided on website. Rooms are very small and very outdated. Room had a bad odour. Hotel situated on main road with a pub/bar at its entrance which is very very noisy and safety was an issue
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel is run down and dilapidated. Not worthy of the 3 star rating
- Carmen (4/5): Unhappy Heart - Awful experience... Rooms are noisy... Bath Towels old and marks on... Never felt so unhappy paying for something and getting this.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The first night was terrible. Other guest have apparently no idea how to behave and there was screaming, shouting singing until at least 2 am in the corridors. The second night was blissfully quiet and extremely peasant
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent place - Amazing, nice rooms and great breakfast
