Guest Reviews
- Anne (9/5): - The position of the property. Superb views and super convenient. Plenty of bird life.
- Susan (9/5): Well located and fully equipped - Our cabin was squeaky clean, well equipped and well located. There were extra touches such as a bathroom nightlight and ready wrapped kindling for the fire that were very welcome. It was lovely to have a wood fire. The only thing we thought would help would be a light outside so that we could use the BBQ.
- Judyta (10/5): -
- Tara (9/5): Very comfortable home close to the beach that offered practicality. - Property has a full kitchen with most utensils to be able to cook a full meal. Laundry was also very handy. Checkin process was very easy. Cabinetry was a little old and worn.
- Karl (8/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): Older style cottages but perfect in every way - Perfect location for Freycinet walks, amazing striking outlook straight across the Hazards. and next to village stores for re-supply
- Grace (7/5): Budget accommodation in a good location. Very clean, agents are unpleasant. -
- John (7/5): -
- Vial (10/5): Perfect srat - Very spacious and comfortable living. Perfect location close to water and Geographe cafe with amazing food.
Loved it
- Michelle (7/5): The cottage was a bit run down unfortunately. - The windows weren’t clean, the outside bins were overflowing, there were no personal touches
- Sonya (7/5): -
- Jo (9/5): - Fabulous location, waking up to such a beautiful view, and literally around the corner from takeaway shop and icecreams. Having a washing machine and dryer was very convenient. Hard to regulate water temperature in shower.
- Shona (7/5): We would stay again as the location was superb. A few small fixes could make for an extremely comfortable stay, - Location was exceptional which made our stay absolutely worthwhile. Could do with a deep clean. Beds were very firm and couches uncomfortable.
- Jane (10/5): - Perfect location. Very comfortable cottage. Great communications with letting agency
- Jerry (9/5): Pleasant quiet cabin in excellent Coles Bay location. - Great location close to beach, grocery store, restaurants, and walking trail along Richardson Beach to Freycinet Lodge for lunch/dinner. Spacious. Good ventillation.
- Jacqueline (8/5): A great spot for exploring the Freycinet National Park - The cottage was spacious , clean, in a great location and had good WIFi. We enjoyed our meals on the decking looking over the water to the mountains. The property was much better than I’d thought from some of the earlier reviews. The driveway really needs to be sorted out so you don’t have to avoid the big hole. We couldn’t seem to find heating for the lounge or bathroom so I’d check on this if coming in cooler months.
- Laura (9/5): - Location was stunning
- Neil (8/5): Great house, close to ammenities, - Good location, quiet, house had all items including fire place. Very clean and tidy upon arrival. Will use again if back in the area. Fuses tripped a few times, call the hosts to advise them, very helpful full. Didn’t happen again after we limited number of heaters to use.
Entrance - driveway was wet due to overnight rain , but gravel was on driveway that flowed downwards onto entrance, stopped possibly slipping over.
- Hua (10/5): - Honestly, one of the best places I've ever stayed at. Beautiful view. Close to everything I needed and the cottage was kept so warm and cosy despite the cold and wind outside.
- Ash (9/5): - Location
- Yvonne (6/5): Loved the location, accommodation needs seriously TLC - The location Maintenance was poor, fire alarm in the main bedroom had been removed with a date of 2020 for renewal, 2 out of 3 lamps in the kitchen area had been removed & not replaced, the bbq gas cylinder was left virtually empty which meant it ran out & we couldn’t bbq on night 2 despite them being informed early morning & couldn’t replace in time for us - very disappointing. (Our next booking had left a spare gas cylinder for the bbq should we run out). In short, fantastic location, poorly maintained & overall tired. Removal of the smoke alarm was just dangerous.
- Victoria (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Location Driveway has a huge hole that needs to be fixed, furniture I didn’t want to seat on, ants in the shower and in the bed, cheap pillows. Check in and out was easy.
- Phil (8/5): Great Location, Great views - Great location, great views, very clean. Kitchen and bathroom pretty tired and could do with some attention.
- Linda (8/5): Overall good place to stay - Good location, beautiful view on balcony. Two rooms with shower & laundry, very convenient. The single bed has wheels underneath that cannot be locked, so it slides back and forth at the slightest touch.
- Kirk (9/5): Highlight of our tasmanian tour - Value for money, comfort, bbq and well equipped kitchen
Amazing location on the water Just needs a little update and attention
- Fabio (10/5): - Ottima posizione proprio di fronte alla baia.
Ben accessoriato per confort in camera ed in cucina
- Blossom (7/5): Location Location Location - Fantastic location with views of the bay and lovely garden out front. Loved the verandah. Comfortable, spacious, quiet and super clean and private, with big tv and lots of wardrobe space. In need of some new lightbulbs. Inside was dark on a rainy day.
- Steve (5/5): -
- Bruce (8/5): - The location, comfortable bed, hot shower, cooking facilities. Also washing machine. The driveway needs repairs.
- Julie (9/5): Big older style cabin with amazing view. - View Balancing hot water.
- Lachlan (9/5): -
- Jane (8/5): Amazing - Location. Loved the fireplace
- Judi (7/5): -
- Brenda (8/5): - Great location with brilliant views!
- Jodie (9/5): -
- Pamela (9/5): Enjoyable stay - Great location and very cosy. Loved having the supermarket and a take away restaurant walking distance and having water views.
- Laura (9/5): Fantastic family winter accommodation - Beautiful views and wonderfully warm. Just the shower head needs fixing but other than that it was great.
- na (5/5): Horrible check in experience. Four emails regarding checking and all with wrong address. - Fair location No one answered the phone after hours even I left messages regarding urgent check in problem.
- Angela (7/5): Great locations, service could use work - Fantastic location, nice and spacious unit. Beautiful view just outside the windows. Very comfortable. The 3rd bed in the unit wasn't made up on arrival (we booked for 3x adults). We called to ask for some additional sheets and were told we would need to collect them from the reception - about a 10min drive away and to hurry as they were closing soon, felt like we were a big inconvenience to them.
When we arrived there was no power to some parts of the unit including all the heating (it was freezing), we found the switchbox and one of the switches had tripped so we flicked it back and it was fine. However when we advised reception of this they immediately put the blame on us for tripping it however it was like this when we arrived
There was no dishwashing liquid available when we arrived (the bottle was completely empty) and when we asked the cleaners for some more they were very hesitant to provide it and blamed us for using it up
One of the reasons we booked was for the fireplace - there was barely enough wood and fire started provided to last the nights we were there.
Overall the stay was great but there were a few little things as mentioned above that just made it seem like they were very frugal with any amenities.
- Mel (7/5): Beautiful location, responsive staff but cabin was tired. - Very responsive staff, great location, lovely to sit by a wood burner in the evening. Facilities were a bit tired; fridge froze items not in the freezer; panel heaters were difficult to change the temperature on; dryer shorted the circuit and required a call and a trip to the circuit box to sort out. Ants kept appearing on the bedding.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - As soon as you walk into the cottage and through to the balcony you see magnificent views of the mountains and lake .Spacious living areas and fire place to keep warm .Will definitely come back in the near future .
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful view and warm cabin with a cosy fireplace perfect for a winter stay.
- Rowena (7/5): Good - Location The humming in the wall in the second room kept you awake and the beds rolled around too much.
- Emma (9/5): Great location and comfortable apartment - - Excellent location nearby everything in Coles Bay
- Cosy apartment and bed was comfortable
- Had everything you needed for a few nights stay - Thankfully we had a high hire car, otherwise the driveway would have been an issue.
- Hard to find entry in the dark - arrival instructions with photographs would help
- Be aware of when you can use the fireplace. We stayed late April and it wasn’t set up. Thankfully it was warm weather so we didn’t need it but just a reminder to read the house details closely before booking.
- also no light outside for cooking a barbecue - had to use our head lamp from hiking.
- Ng (7/5): Good location, spacious house - It’s a good waterfront location at the quiet town of Coles Bay. The property is spacious and complete for simple cooking, and with washer & dryer which we truly appreciate Generally ok but if were to nitpick, the shower head is mounted to the wall and not detachable so a bit lack in versatility.
- Alkesh (8/5): Very good -
- Claire (9/5): Definitely would recommend staying here - Lovely location with water views and close to the national park Nothing
- Rhiana (9/5): Superb -
- Annette (8/5): Nice for a short break - The location is fantastic and the cottage is very comfortable. We were disappointed that the smoke detector had been removed from the bedroom in the front and that no wall lights worked in the other bedroom. It seems some maintenance is needed.
- Leisa (8/5): Perfect location and beautiful views! - Fantastic location with terrific views. Lovely and clean. Has everything you need. Would have loved a bigger bed and door handles that don’t make a racket to open…not ideal for the night loo runs when you have a kid sleeping in the next room. Probably not an issue for most people lol!!
- Marsha (6/5): Pleasant - Location, bed was very comfy x Old shower
- Jessica (7/5): Perfect location - Location was fantastic! The heated floors were great too and having a full kitchen was appreciated The blinds are broken in the main room.
Lights weren't working in 2nd bedroom.
Dead ants around the home :(
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dragan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Brent (9/5): Superb -
- Leanne (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (10/5): Relaxing stay next time we will go kayaking - We loved the house and the view. We did a number of walks and even went swimming, We wish we could have stayed longer. The house had everything we required and was very comfortable. Next time we will go kayaking. Nothing
- Louise (9/5): Lovely cottage in convenient location - The cottage was clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony was lovely. It was great to have a washing machine. The shower was a little awkward to get into and the temperature fluctuated. Some channels on the TV weren't available or disappeared on our first night there but were fine on the second night. The location is fantastic as there are a few food places next door. Very convenient if you are doing the Wineglass Bay cruise.
- Annette (8/5): Perfect location - Location near shops & the view. It is dated but has all the facilities & was very clean. Rough driveway & poor lighting.
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location overlooking The Hazards. Close to activities and shops. Clean.
- Stuart (6/5): Pleasant - Location
- Eliot (8/5): We had a very comfortable stay in this spacious and well equipped accommodation at Cole's Bay. - Great location, plenty of room. Good layout. Great to have washing machine, dryer and washing powder available. Shower very small, some of the bedside lamps didn't work.
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (9/5): Great little Unit - Location, short stroll to shops & beach., Comfy beds & spacious bedrooms, view, & facilities. Shower was small & poor water pressure plus there wasn't a plug for bath.. Water pump outside bedrooms continuously going which disturbed my sons sleep.
- Nick (7/5): Loved it will be back - Great location with a great view The shower was unique
- Mukund (9/5): Beautiful location and ideal for a relaxing getaway - The location was absolutely awesome with see side views and beautiful breeze. Close by shops and food places made it very convenient Nothing much. If I have to be very critical I could point out that the vaccine cleaner didn’t work
- Cathie (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cynthia (10/5): We loved this place and wouldn’t hesitate to return! - The location, the amenities which included a washer and dryer, the view, it’s own parking spot with all the comforts of home.
- Carole (7/5): Good - Views to water, esplanade walk close by, laundry facilities inuding clothes line, deck with outside seating Flooring felt like garage carpet. Minimal crockery so always washing dishes.
- Judy (10/5): Great location and views, very quiet area. - Fantastic location with a lovely deck and view of the bay and the mountains. All good.
- Penelope (8/5): Very good - We loved the views from the comfortable loungeroom and deck over to the Freycinet Peninsula. Lots of space in the cottage. We liked the "old style" of the whole place and facilities such as washing machine and dryer. The pot belly stove would be great in winter time. Controls on the clothes dryer were far too high. The shower cabinet was a bit cramped. The bed moved on its castors away from the wall.
- Pat (9/5): Good view and location. - Good view and good location where there’s cafe and general store Parking as it’s a sharp corner and sloping down
- Sally (8/5): Very good -
- Marten (10/5): Great value , beautiful lovation - Easy access , great location
Well stocked kitchen
Comfortable beds Internet
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shelby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (8/5): Terrific getaway - Great location , comfortable, good value
- Daria (8/5): Best view ever - Beautiful views and good value Previous guests had co-mingled the general waste with the recycling. Clear instructions should be left in the cottage.
- Carmel (10/5): Get property to stay at - It was close to everything. And we loved the wood fire. We enjoyed our stay
- Sam (9/5): Phenomenal views and toasty warm on a very cold and wet weekend @ Coles bay - It was a very cold weekend and I found the heating options and fireplace perfect. Views were phenomenal.
- Helen (8/5): Very good - -gorgeous view, the cottage is right across from the water and the hazards range
-cafe, eatery and general store within a few minutes walk (just around the corner)
-under-floor heating in the bathroom, kitchen and part of the living area was nice and cosy
-with a well fitted out kitchen, we found everything we needed to cook a couple of meals -we had a couple of heaters on one night which blew a fuse so that was a bit of a surprise but we called up and we were directed where to find the fuse box and got it sorted
- Carmel (10/5): A home away from home - It was easy, just like a home away from home.
Nice views of the Harzards, a short walk around the corner from the local fish and chip shop, or cafe.
We also loved the wood fire. It kept us nice and warm.
Great place to stay for a relaxing weekend away from.
- Matthew (9/5): Cosy getaway - Cottage is very cute. Clean and well equipped. Highlight was the fireplace which was a joy to use during the cold autumn nights. Nothing
- Donna (9/5): Superb -
- Lloyda (10/5): Cosy Cottage - Beautiful location. Very warm and cosy. Fire place. Underfloor heating in bathroom and kitchen a lovely bonus. ?
- Linda (9/5): Recommended. Comfortable, clean and great location. - Beautiful location. Breathtaking view. Quiet, peaceful and close to some easy and picturesque walks and a supermarket. Comfortable and clean. Heating was good. Some money into maintenance, e.g. screen doors and consider new beds.
- Jackie (9/5): Superb - Plenty of firewood to light your own fire which made the whole cottage very warm. Cooking oil, salt & pepper provided which I didn't expect.
- Lynden (8/5): Fantastic place to stay for exploring Freycinet. - Fantastic location and view. Cosy, comfortable and well equipped. Shower was tired and had high sides, making access a little awkward.
- Stefan (10/5): Hidden Gem - A Tranquil Retreat
Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscape of Freycinet, my recent stay at Freycinet Cottage 2 Dolerite was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the cottage's idyllic setting, overlooking the tranquil waters and majestic mountains beyond.
The first thing that struck me was the impeccable cleanliness of the cottage, a testament to the dedication of Sofia and her team. Every corner exuded a sense of care and attention to detail, making for a truly inviting and comfortable stay.
Being from Darwin, I appreciated the thoughtful provision of portable heaters, ensuring warmth and comfort during the cooler evenings. Although I only stayed for one night, the presence of a fireplace added a touch of romance to the ambience, promising cozy evenings by the fire.
One of the highlights for me was the inclusion of laundry powder sachets, a small yet thoughtful touch that demonstrated the hosts' commitment to providing a seamless and convenient experience for guests.
Overall, my experience at Freycinet Cottage 2 Dolerite was nothing short of exceptional. I have no hesitation in recommending this hidden gem to my family and friends, confident that they, too, will be enchanted by its charm and tranquility.
- Tracey (7/5): Good - BBQ was good It was dark- trees need to be trimmed to let in more sunlight. Screen doors need replacing.
- Sheryl (10/5): Exceptional - There was a very rough patch of road on the property which was worrying. Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Absolutely gorgeous accommodation and location. - Location was excellent! We had spectacular views across Great Oyster Bay to the mountains. A one minute walk to grocery store, fish and chips, and icecream. Facilities were excellent, and bedrooms equipped with spotless linen. So hard to fault this beautiful place, however a large pot hole in the driveway was a challenge for our little hire car.
- Colin (8/5): Very good -
- Alexandra (7/5): Great Location!! - Wonderful location, view over the water and the hazards mountains!
Bed was comfortable, we didn’t really use the cooking facilities but there was everything that you would need for a short stay.
Overall would stay again :) The main bedroom especially could do with some better curtains/blinds, the current vertical blinds do almost nothing to stop light getting in and don’t close uniformly so it feels like people could see in from certain angles.
- Dean (10/5): So damn good. - Beautiful view, had everything you could need to live as if you were born and raised here.
- Ray (9/5): Fantastic location right on the bay with beautiful views - Fantastic location right on the bay Nothing
- Betty (9/5): Superb -
- Geraldine (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (10/5): Loved it. Nice and close to all walks. Good Supermarket and dining faculties too - Lovely view, very clean and comfortable N/a
