• Anne (9/5): Convenient for conferenece would stay again - Private parking and quiet location . We used the kitchen facilities and found it lovely and warm . A collegue said they were like army barracks but it didnt feel like that at all. An out door seating space would be nice if the weather had been better. I was overcharged by the hotel but they were quick to reimburse me.

The other in the corner to use to sit on. The bathroom sink does not hold water. The bathroom could do with maybe a cupboard or another shelf.

• Ramona (6/5): Beautiful but tiny - Beautiful estate, well kept and clean. Everything I could wish for: old trees, birds, pond, valley and hills, nature in all ger splendour. Very nice foyer we had an amazing continental breakfast. The cottage felt like a shoe box, one of the bathrooms bigger than the bedroom itself, very small and claustrophobic for me, bed mattresses uncomfortable as well. Place very clean and welcoming, but a bit too stretched on the actual size. We had 2 bedrooms, which was better suit as 1 bedroom.

I know that sadly this is personal taste and is unfortunate but should not in any way detract from an excellent stay - I just found the bed too hard for me sadly!

The bed also had dog hair on it. The walls were dirty. The sofa was dirty. The bedding was dirty. Needs attention before letting again.

• lexplex (5/5): Decent value for money, but well below the advertised four star rating. - For what I paid, with a last minute booking, it was fine, but definitely didn't look as good as advertised. The staff were very pleasant, so credit where it's due. The breakfast was OK - about right for a budget hotel but missing little details - they forgot to put bowls out for cereal, for example. Apparently the cottages on the estate are much nicer, but be careful when booking here that you're getting what you expect. The grounds are beautiful, and the estate has a fascinating history. Listed as a four star hotel, and the main building and grounds are spectacular, but the block I was accommodated in feels like it was former military or student accommodation. The heating was partially broken in my room and in my friends' room in another block it wasn't working at all, and another guest mentioned to me in passing that neither her heating nor her hot water worked. My shower was barely hot enough. The room was cold and noisy - I could hear everything my upstairs neighbour was doing.

Accommodation is spread over the estate. Had streep hill and stone steps to cling to get to my block.

• Amanda (7/5): Fantastic grounds, friendly staff, well thought out. 😁 - Stunning location in regards to scenery. Accommodation block from what I gather from the history, was originally for scientific research students, so has a late 1970s feel and aesthetics, so positioned away from the main house, but reasonably sized rooms with well thought out essentials. Bathrooms, mostly with showers, were a good size and rooms were light, clean, appeared recently redecorated with windows that could be opened and effective blinds. Plenty of storage. Staff in reception were friendly and informed. Comfy beds and parking near to accommodation. Excellent buffet style breakfast in an open feeling room reminiscent of an old ballroom. Showers clean and warm. As a late seventies style build, sound proofing was typical for that era, so you were aware of other guests. Perhaps more milk and sugar for making your own refreshments, but trays were excellent.

• Marysia (8/5): Very convenient stay in wonderful setting - Location. Landscape and setting. Excellent breakfast. Museum on site. Lack of any food/snacks or places to eat in the evening in the vicinity.
• Rasa (9/5): A calm and comfortable stay in a lovely setting. - The location is wonderful for a quiet, tranquil escape, and there is plenty of parking which makes arriving stress free. I stayed in a single room which was very much designed for one. A slightly larger desk and a TV on an adjustable arm would have been handy so I could angle it towards the bed, but those are minor points rather than deal breakers. Breakfast was perfectly fine with the usual hot and cold options. Overall, a peaceful stay in a lovely setting. I was disappointed to find that they no longer offer dinner service. After arriving in such a peaceful setting, it would have been ideal to relax on site rather than hunt for food elsewhere.

• Pauline (7/5): Very good value, excellent breakfast but be aware of weekend booking if a wedding is on, check bedroom allocated - Although the room was in 1 of 2 buildings a short distance away from the main house, it was very clean, beds comfortable, excellent shower and ample storage. Breakfast in the conservatory in the main house was superb as well as the lovely views. Very good value for money. Staff very helpful. We were in a ground floor room which is lower than the car park, access to rooms above us is via a metal walkway level with the car park. We could not get to sleep until 3am as guests from the wedding reception were noisy and walking on the walkway is very noisy and it was right by our window and internal corridor right above us. Feedback about this was given to the receptionist. Luckily the second night was much quieter. Also the main building is down quite a steep slope & we needed to use the car to get to it because of slight mobility issue

Felt like uni halls of residence, very loud between ceiling and floor to other rooms and the breakfast felt a little like a school cafeteria. They also told me on the day (after I could cancel) that there was no bath - a specific request so I could give my daughter (2) a bath.

• Sian (10/5): Modern comfort with traditional features - Excellently decorated and appointed cottage, mixing both modern convenience and traditional features such as brick walls and high ceilings. Very modern, with bedroom, living and kitchen area, including a dishwasher for longer stays; spacious, modern bathroom with powerful and very hot shower. We only stayed one night, so didn't use the hotel facilities but the grounds are beautiful.

Very safe hotel and easy check in , with friendly and helpful staff. Nothing could have been better except maybe , a diner option on site. Nothing much can be done about noise from doors.

The museum was very interesting. There's nothing I didn't like but you will need a car. Bar on site, nearest pub 1 mime George and Dragon at Speldhurst (also very likeable)

Soap dispensers give it a very make do aura. It just didn't align either the external. Clean orderly but slightly dead in spirit

Everything about it sent the same message. - Location of bedroom 200m from dining room involving walk outside. Raining when we were there 🥲 - bathroom felt institutional and broken fittings - TV screen had a faulty distorted display - Food at breakfast quality - cheap juice - packet cereals - no choice of milk - no staff present to ask - tiny cups for hot drinks - cheap sliced bread

• Emily (9/5): Nice but nothing special - We were there for a wedding, so to stay on site was a bonus following the celebrations. Very clean. Beautiful decor in master bedroom and en-suite Stayed in The Cottage which was at the top of a hill, next to the road which was quite disturbing. Wouldn’t say it was great value for money unfortunately for a family - was expecting something a bit more special.
• Wright (6/5): Lovely place, room was a bit meh. - The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The setting is beautiful within the grounds and it was in easy reach of the town. The room itself was okay but not as nice as the ones pictured on the website. The main issue was the bed, I think the mattress was quite worn and it dipped considerably at the head and foot ends which made it quite uncomfortable to sleep on.
