Guest Reviews
- ANGELO (10/5): Great experience. Would stay again. - Close to the mountain. Breakfast was good. Beds were not too comfortable.
- Johnson (4/5): -
- Ying (9/5): Great stay for a family ski trip - Staffs are very welcoming, room is very clean, a hot outdoor spa was a pleasant surprise. And it’s within 5 mins drives to mt snow and most restaurants/shops in town. Breakfast was lovely and yummy. Beds could be more comfortable
- Timothy (9/5): Nice, affordable place to stay near Mt. Snow - The location was great, close to Mt. Snow and not far from Stratton. The place was clean, the room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were good.
- Edmund (10/5): -
- Joe (10/5): - Clean and convenient Nothing
- Kevin (9/5): Charming inn that provides a clean, comfortable room & a delicious hot breakfast -highly recommend! - We loved our stay at Big Bear's Lodge because it was a charming, clean and comfortable rest after a long car trip. We wished we could have stayed longer because our girls (ages 4 & 8) loved the pool, playground area and bunkbeds. My husband and I loved the rustic charm, manicured landscapes, clean room and wonderful hot breakfast provided by the kind and accommodating owners. Certainly a gem of a place, so glad we chose to stay here. Only a couple of suggestions I would make such as to have a coffee/ tea station in the lobby and more outlet/ charging ports in the room.

- Mary (10/5): Perfect weekend getaway - Lovely lodge. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! There were a couple of common areas that were perfect for visiting or just hanging out. It was a little off-season to try the pool, but it looks wonderful. Can't wait to go back!
- Barbara (5/5): Below average considering most hotels have offered so much more and a much lesser price. - The staff was nice. Breakfast was pleasant Musty smell throughout building and In our room, no clock or radio, no coffee or tea setups, no ice bucket or ice. Ice machine was empty and could not be used. 40 miles to get your own ice, no refrigerator, no microwave, no umbrellas at pool side to block the sun. Old. Needs lots of updating. We've traveled all over the world and for $210. It was robbery. We should get at least a partial refund. This lodge was way over priced!!! Disappointed.
- Lauren (10/5): - It was very close to the ski resort.
- Auguste (10/5): - Outdoor hot tub!
- Christopher (7/5): Awesome location across from Mount Snow, beautiful lodge but could use some staff interactions - Location across from Mount Snow was terrific, room was clean, large and comfortable. Staff was very absent and dismissive of customers, did not seem like any interaction was welcome. Parking lot was iced over (sand would have been nice), ski holding area was nice but not secure at all. No way to get coffee, tea or any liquid unless you attend breakfast.
- Nicole (10/5): - Loved staying here! It was close to the mountain and restaurants. Check in was quick and easy. We will be rebooking!
- KOSTANDIN (6/5): - Property needs improvement.
They could do a better job with service.
I didn’t like the breakfast quality and service.
- Grace E (10/5): Great place - Caroline and Steven are wonderful hosts. Friendly and clean. Great location!
- Joshua (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - The big bear lodge is a pretty great place to stay owners are super nice everything was clean each room has its own setup with different styles breakfast was great, the only thing is if you want snacks or drinks they do not have vending machines or ice machine so bring a cooler with you and snack other than that a super great place to stay !!!!
- Jeff (10/5): Lovely place to stay - An old style inn that has a charm and comfort that makes it a great ski vacation accommodation for a couple. The owners were lovely and its conveniently located to the town.
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (2/5): skip it - The shower didn't work - the water was spitting out of the shower head.
The walls are very thin, I could hear every word that my neighbors were saying.
Couldn't sleep well because of the noise.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Just okay - My family stayed in a room with a queen and bunk beds. Mattresses were very uncomfortable; not enough pillows. There was no continental breakfast and breakfast options were sparse/small portions. Good view, ample parking.
- Giuli (10/5): - very friendly
- Daniel (10/5): - So close to Mt.Snow! Staff was friendly and kind! Property was super clean and very 'homy'!!!
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Charles (10/5): - Great place had to leave my stuff in the ski room to dry off. For a bit after checkout. They we're very accommodating
- Tammy (8/5): - Orderly and organized. 1 minute drive to Mt Snow
- KARINA (8/5): - The owners were welcoming and lovely. The breakfast was home cooked to order.
Slightly disappointed the hot tub was out of order during our stay.
Will return, the location is perfect if you are skiing at Mount Snow!
- Russell (10/5): - The property is well taken care of, rooms nicely decorated and beds comfortable.
The area has many options for tasty food and although a bit expensive for what and where they are, still a lot more reasonable than the food at Mt Snow ($10 pizza slices, really! Bring your lunches).
My suggestions for the property: add electric outlets in the room (we all have phones, tablets and laptops) and towel racks in the bathroom (lots of ski gear to hang dry).
- Shaun (10/5): - Great job keeping the lot plowed in a snowstorm.
- Russ (7/5): Good -
- Eugenia (4/5): Wasn’t pleasant experience - Short drive to the Mt.Snow Breakfast didn’t taste much, and it was the same every day. A hot tub was often closed for various reasons. The room was outdated; the furniture was chipped. The bathroom was old, the shower and toilet were leaking and had rust stains, and the carpets seemed never to be vacuumed. Wi-fi isn't strong. Oh, and the owner prevented someone from talking to me in the hallways and also expressed concern about why I opened the window to air out the room. Overall, just weird vibes.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
- Dmitry (10/5): - This place is nice! Cozy, clean accurate, yet quite , with a nice view and a hot tub outside was a nice bonus!
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christina (10/5): - So close to Mount snow it’s a great place to stay
- Sarah (7/5): Would go again for a night or two... - The room was spacious and very clean. Check in was simple. Parking was great. The living room was a great space to unwind at night and play a game with family. Staff started a fire in the fireplace which was amazing. Breakfast didn't start until 8am...We are first chair skiers. We also called on Thursday to find out what time breakfast was and we were told 7:30am. The living room area where the shared refrigerator is, is only open between 7:30am-10pm. We were not able to get anything cold to drink before 7:30am because we put our cooler in the shared refrigerator, We were not able to change the temperature of our room...and our room was very hot. So we opened a window but really, what a waste of heat. Lastly, I feel like we were micromanaged with cameras literally everywhere. The man at the front desk was scanning the cameras in the morning when we were eating breakfast. Kind of strange to me.
- Jie (9/5): Superb -
- Justyne (10/5): - Very quaint place to stay; the owners are sweet and considerate! They make the place feel like a safe get-away to somewhere nostalgic. I will definitely be booking a stay here again!
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- S (9/5): Nice place - Nice staff, plenty of parking space, big room. Good heating, very clean bathroom. Breakfast is served only for an hour between 8AM and 9AM.
- Tod (10/5): It was great - The owners were outstanding people who run a great Lodge ! The breakfast was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable-
The location was close to everywhere we needed to be-
I highly recommend Big Bear!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We would go back here. The proprietors were lovely
- Geri (9/5): Lovely getaway leaf peeping. - Lovely B&B. Comfortable room, nice sitting area, staff very efficient. Enjoyed the breakfast.
- Srikalyani (9/5): Superb -
- Steven (9/5): Great stay, great owners. - All the little things the owners did for us.
- Fabian (2/5): - I didn’t stay after being seeing 4 dirty rooms. Some with no bedsheets others with clothes, and plates of food in them.
- Karen (10/5): - Staff very accommodating! Loved the place.
- Shing-li (8/5): - It is close to Mt Snow ski resort. The property is well kept. It's clean with modern interior. I have no complaint except suggestion of a one page manual / channel guide for the TV. So we do not have to spend time figuring out and get to the channel in an most inefficient way. In addition, the breakfast can be improved a bit. Coffee is weak. Juice (we try apple and orange) are low quality brand which taste bad.
These things should not cost much to improve.
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Charles (6/5): Pleasant -
- Patrick (10/5): - Close property to Mount Snow and restaurants. Room was nice and comfy, and complimentary breakfast was delicious!
- Anieszka (10/5): Fantastic place. - Location was fantastic. Very close to the mountain.
- Christina (10/5): Great place - Great location 2 minutes from mountain snow. We had no control over our room temperature we were sweating the heat was cranked up so high
- Sheng (8/5): Very good -
- Greg (8/5): - Charming and simple. Everything you would expect in a Vermont lodge. Breakfast was included. It would have been nice to have amenities like tea and coffee outside of breakfast hours.
- Jennifer (8/5): Nice place with great location. - Very nice, friendly staff. Great breakfast and wonderful, convenient location.
- Larry (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (8/5): Will definitely be staying here again - Great staff
Great location
Great breakfast
Good size room. The pillows and mattresses could be a little more firm
- Dawn (6/5): Met the needs but the accommodations are in need of updating. - Located close to mount snow. Room and bathroom need updating. Would be good if tea/ coffee making facilities were available in room or in the lobby
- Gerard (9/5): Superb -
- Ingo (1/5): Don’t go here. There is a reason it is relatively affordable. - We stayed in room 27 and it was absolutely terrible. The room is on the lower level, next to the staircase. There is no soundproofing at all so me and my kids could hear people above us all the time. And when it would be quite upstairs, you could hear people walking up or down the stairs. Worst of the worst of hotel experiences. Would absolutely avoid this place. When I asked a staff member to put is in another room, I was told they were fully booked. No options offered, no refund. Nothing.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional - beautiful lodge and was super close to mount snow. Our car broke down and needed to replace with a new tire, the owner Steve was extremely helpful pointed us to exactly where we needed to go. This place also looks waaaaaaay better than I expected with this price! Best place ever definitely would visit again. Give this lodge a try if you’re going skiing at mount snow, you’re gonna love it!!
- John (8/5): - Steve and Caroline are really nice folks who run a great little lodge right down the street from Mt.Snow. The proximity to the Mt. is awesome and there’s even a shuttle stop right outside to take you to the lifts. The place has an old school vibe but the beds are up to snuff and it’s cozy so I slept well both nights I was there. Add to that hot Breakfast cooked to order and you’re all set for a day on the mountain! I’d definitely stay there again!
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lenka (10/5): We were very happy with this stay, it was truly great! - Clean spacious rooms, very quiet too…excellent location just a minute from Mount Snow. We loved it! Breakfast stopped at 9…wish it was till 10… sadly we missed it.
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillip (10/5): - Overal a great stay, my family and I spent 2 night's. Steps away from mount snow, the owners were friendly and helpful. Breakfast, while limited was an easy option before hitting the slopes.. if you want some where thats hommie, safe and family friendly this is it. We will definitely be back.
- Ehud (8/5): Very good -
- sehyun (10/5): - It is such a great experience. Very cozy and comfortable. Clean and convenient to stores and Mount snow resort. We would luv to come back for sure! I can see the owners take great care of their property and business!
- Joshua (4/5): Disappointing -
- Brian (10/5): - The room was great for a family of four. The breakfast was delicious and ended up being sit down with a very limited menu just to get you going. Restaurants in the area are crowded so takeout is easier to get. Just speak to the owner about sitting in the dining area first they are very accommodating. I would definitely book here again.
- Anthony (6/5): - No electric outlets next to the beds. Rooms had bare minimum. Sit down breakfast was decent.
- Judith (6/5): It was okay - Breakfast was great and served hot Bathroom door does not close and fan rattles when it n
- robert (8/5): - This is a very comfortable, simple inn. The owners are attentive and the breakfasts are very good--great value for the area. We also enjoyed the English couple operating the place--very engaging and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again if we find ourselves in the area.
- Donna Marie (2/5): - Bed was horrible and rooms had horrible smell
- Sheryl (10/5): Nice place to stay! - It was a nice rural location and only 30 minutes drive from the wedding venue we were going to. Second morning there for breakfast we were only offered coffee (which I am allergic to) so I had nothing to drink with my breakfast.
- Listopad (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptionally friendly stuff, great value for money, clean, convenient location
- mark (10/5): - Well maintained
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pricey for experience - We only stayed one night and it might just have been the timing but it was pretty expensive for the condition of the place
- Mileficent (8/5): Very good -
- Kurt (6/5): For the price it was a great option..close to the mountain - Breakfast was good. The location was great and clean. Had a nice hot tub The mattress was terrible. Had to pay 50 cents to play pool and the ball return was damaged. It should just be free. There was a modern security system seems like cameras everywhere. Maybe some new beds and couches would be more important for customers comfort
- Slavik (9/5): great place to stay - This place is really nice and cozy. we went for a snowboarding trip, and I’d say there nothing I could complain about this place. great place to stay
- Jamie (8/5): We'll be back - very convenient location - Weekend stay to ski with our sons. On the shuttle route to Mount Snow (5 minutes away). Very family friendly place and quiet on a busy weekend. Breakfast included which is a plus. Wish the rooms had coffee maker, but otherwise really convenient and excellent family run lodge.
- Ryan (10/5): Big Bear Lodge - Clean, great location, and good breakfast.
- Fiorentino (8/5): Great location, no frills but cozy - The manager of the hotel, Caroline, was very kind and helpful. The location to the mountain, a local bar and the market are spectacular. The pool was closed as there was a blizzard, but the hot tub (tiny) was open. Luckily I had it to myself. There is no food, drink, or toiletries available at the property. There were a lot of kids running around. You really should not come to this property without a car, anything in "walking distance" is on a busy, snowy highway with little lighting. The hot tub was tiny, and probably could not fit more than 4 adults. Pool was closed and covered in snow. This place is no frills. No hair dryer in room, no mini refrigerator, can hear everything upstairs and next door. If you take the shuttle from the mountain, you have to cross the busy highway road with your skis in hand.
- Wayne (8/5): - Great breakfast, starts at 7:30pm. Place to watch tv and have a fire lit.
- Pirrello (7/5): Nice homey place, a bit overpriced but mainly for skiers, lots of places to eat - Regular home cooking.
Nice firm bed
friendly staff Heat was hard to control in room. Room was overly hot.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was good. They did not provide for a gluten free need. The inn said there was no place to get a dinner. There is a bar down the street. They serve nice burgers. I got to see where they cook and it looked good. The food tasted well. The people hanging out in the bar where older men and women. It was a relaxed environment and I felt safe to be in there. They should recommend the bar that is less than a quarter of a mile down the street. It is open after 4om.
- Tara (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (7/5): Good -
- Margaret (9/5): went to d so ki 2 days at Mt. Snow, across the street and the lodge was perfect for our stay - very cozy and comfortable N/A
- Allyson (10/5): Exceptional - really great location for mount snow, very comfy, hot tub was fun and free hot breakfast cooked to order was so nice! would definitely stay again.
