- Will (10/5): An excellent choice for anyone staying in Putre. - The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They made a point to talk to us and make sure we were enjoying our stay, and gave us good recommendations of places to go. The breakfast provided included freshly-made bread and scrambled eggs and was very good.
Grazie in particolare a Stephan, Luz Maria e Christian!
Consiglio assolutamente. Nulla
- Erwin (10/5): Great place in Putre!!! - Gorgeous place with sooooo much amazing nature to see! The hosts were perfect and gave us excellent info. We fell in love with their dogs!! The breakfast was perfect. It's cold up there but they had a heater and super warm blankets. We were there at super cold time and were fine. Don't stress just bring good clothes for high mountain area! We spent a rest day in Putre and loved it. Great restaurant Casadona in town square by bank... bought the most amazing warm lama coat from amazing artisan on corner down from restaurant. Soooo warm and super cool!!!! Make sure u fill up on gas before you come to Putre.

- GRETA (8/5): -
- Alexandros (8/5): - Staff gentile e disponibile. Camera molto silenziosa.
- Romain (8/5): - Stephan has been so great with us, welcoming us very nicely and he gave us the best advices we could have expected to discover the Lauca Park !
- Tom (9/5): Pleasant - Kind staff, willing to help with everything and spoke good English. Very quiet during the night. Comfortable beds and good hot shower. Very sweet dogs and cats. Room and breakfast room were very cold during the evening/night/morning because there is no working central heating. With loads of blankets it was doable though.
- Ruth (9/5): Great place to explore the outstanding national park, with super helpful owner - Stephan, the owner, was exceptional, possibly the most helpful host we’ve ever met. Providing detailed information of where to visit and how to explore. Bed was comfortable, with good bedding. Shower was the hottest and most powerful we’ve had during our 12weeks in South America. Breakfast was tasty and always served with a smile, with opportunities to ask more questions about the area. Room felt tired and dated BUT immaculately clean and was comfortable, just not modern day aesthetics.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Phil (8/5): An excellent host and budget friendly accommodation. This is an excellent place to base your stay to explore the altipla - Stephan was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. He gave us a very comprehensive talk when we arrived about dealing with altitude and local sights to visit. When we arrived it was cold and wet, there is an electric heater provided for the bedrooms, which worked well but the bathroom and common areas are chilly. Be sure to bring warm clothes and jacket
- Francesco (6/5): Pleasant - the staff working at the hotel was very friendly, giving us tips about agency tour.
breakfast was good, room was comfortable with hot shower. wifi available only at the reception.
the owner wasn't really friendly, not helping us at all on our way to putre from La Paz. we had to stop in arica and get a taxi back to putre. basically no shuttle service at all.
very expensive for what you get.
- Udo (9/5): Superb -
- Fabrizzio (10/5): Perfect place to stay - Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, lovely dogs, cosy rooms and perfect location for traveling to Lago Chungara and Parinacota region!
- Maria (9/5): If you want to experience Putre and surroundings at their best, look no further! This is the place to stay :) - The hotel is very well located, the owner Stefan was great, he gave us plenty of help and tips on how to experience the area at its best, he is very kind and there to help you. They also have very cute dogs to play with.
- Jens (5/5): Passable - Not that much. The rooms were ok, but for the location it felt a bit overpriced. The hotel could do with a refurbishment. There are 4 very large and very curious dogs on the hotel grounds. This might be fine if your are into dogs. For us it was rather annoying as they were trying to enter our room and car. One of them went so far as to chew my coat.
Location was at the end of town, but most likely you are here with your own car anyway.
We had booked two double rooms as a family because there were no other options on booking even though the hotel did have other rooms (at lower price) available. Also, we could have fit in one room only as the beds were rather large.
- Malik (10/5): Exceptional - Nice location
Clean and quiet place
Good breakfast
Very helpful and friendly owners
- Mat (10/5): As I said, Stephan couldn’t have been more welcoming. He was very helpful with suggestions and also managed to find some - It was clean tidy and we were very well looked after by Stephan I liked it. That’s that
- Peter (9/5): Good place to be for Putre and surrouning, good value for money! - Basic hotel, but very nice staff. Very helpful with planning my trip, taking care to explain all about the area what there is to see and do. Good value for money, the place to be for Putre and surrounding.
Good help for petrol as its hard to get in Putre, as there is no gasstation in the city.
- Thanasis (5/5): Camping plus - Location, staff, price, the dogs. It's a few notches above camping, but not unexpected. Similar experience to trips in the Himalayas.
- Ying (8/5): good location, friendly host. - location, good value. None
- Angela (8/5): Quiet hotel with a clean room at a great price - Super helpful owner and staff, on everything from helping with luggage to advice on getting around the area.. Tasty and filling breakfast. Very convenient and quiet location. I was really happy to be able to book a room online, with no surprises when I checked in. Sunrise in the courtyard was great for birdwatching. I don't have any major dislikes. It's an older hotel, but then so are most of the other hostels and hotels in the area. It met all our needs.
- Elsemiek (9/5): Great basis to explore the nature in the North of Chile - The personal was great and super helpful. It was clear they have a lot of experience in travelling and expertise about making tours in the mountains (they offer tours as well!). The location was great. The city of Putre gave us a good impression of the countryside. For fellow travellers: you should expect to organize and prepare yourself if you come to this region. But if you are up with simple living and enjoy this way of travelling - Putre, and specifically Las Vicuñas is a great place to visit.
- Stéphane (9/5): Superb -
- Przemysław (9/5): the facility exceeded my expectations, nice, helpful and very clean - very nice and helpful owners, taking the initiative on what and how to visit and see
an additional advantage is the possibility of refueling the car on site, as there is no gas station even in the further vicinity
- Franciscus (10/5): Cycling at high ground. - Stay at high altitude for sporty people or those who want to strengthen their fitness.
You can cycle up to 5250 m nearby ( Ruta A23 )
The hotel owner speaks fluently English.
Very spacious rooms with very comfortable beds and very good mattresses.
Spacious private parking at the hotel.
A short walk from the center of Putre with a wide choice of small and good restaurants.
In the neighborhood you can find also thermal bads or hotsprings to relax.
Very good location for sporty people on high altitude or sportteams to do a altitude internship.
- Vinella (9/5): Superb - Very lovingly run family business.
Many thanks for the support I received from the host, which went above and beyond a high standard!
The friendly staff serve an extensive breakfast, which is also catered to your wishes.
I would love to come here again when staying in Putre!
- Gerard (8/5): Very good -
- Gilles (8/5): Great location & customer service - Excellent welcoming on this hotel family business. I received all the necessary information to have a perfect stay and visit of the area. Basic and cleaned room.
- Riccardo (10/5): Amazing stay in Putre - The welcoming staff and the possibility of a late check-in Nothing
- Kim (8/5): Really nice owners and comfy room - Very friendly owners! Plus they have two cute dogs. Nice room with a lot of space and comfy beds. Clean in general. Maybe the shower was a bit small
- Peter (6/5): Shabby but good base for Lauca national park, with a very helpful owner. - The hotel was well placed for access to the Lauca national park. The owner speaks excellent English and was very helpful in dealing with Europcar when we damaged our hire car. (n.b. Altitude sickness can seriously impair your driving ability, as we found to our cost. If we went there again we'd book an organised tour instead). The owner's husband took us on a good day tour to the north when our car was out of action. The hotel is elderly (it was originally built to house mine workers) and needs renovating, particularly the bathrooms.
- Jacob (10/5): Amazing service - We really enjoyed our stay at Vicuña. The owner Heinz drew a map for us of the key natural spots to look out for, lent us his own 2 warm jackets when we realised the weather was much colder than expected and he also recommended a brilliant detour on our way from putre to colchane, and we had nice breakfasts and dinners freshly prepared and good packed lunches, and amazing wine. You are at 3.5km altitude so the facilities were simpler, but the service was excellent. They really looked after us. Thanks for a great stay!
- Amy (6/5): Beautiful location surrounded by nature - We stayed there one night in order to visit Lago Chungará, The town is surrounded by pretty scenery. It's about a 2 hour drive from Arica and then another one hour drive to Chungará. We saw lots of cute animals along the way. The hotel room was big with a table and lots of closets. The view from the room was pretty. Supper in the restaurant was affordable.
- Juanjo (6/5): - Please, be adviced to bring a 20 liters can of diesel with you to make sure your return to Arica. Or you will be in trouble.
