Guest Reviews
- Vanya (10/5): - The onl
- Susan (10/5): - This was an absolutely wonderful hotel and the staff was super friendly and helpful! It is very close to most of the historical sites- within a 10 minute walk. Highly recommend!!
- Georg (8/5): - Quiet place, nice room, friendly staff. Located in the center of the city, easy walk around with nice restaurants and shops. Overall pleasant stay...
- Jacob (10/5): - Good stay
- Mandar (10/5): - Great location
- James (10/5): Nice hotel - Lovely hotel and staff tho one desk host speaks little English and compreehends nil.
- Katie (10/5): - Great location! Beautifully appointed room, friendly staff and a generous breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel.
- Ercan (10/5): - The hotel was clean and the staff were lovely.
- Thomas (8/5): - The shower was excellent!! Breakfast is good but I wish they would mix it up a bit for each day.
- Howard (8/5): - Located in the city center. One of the two room service ordered for dinner didnt come which was disappointed. Otherwise, its good in other aspects.
- James (6/5): Ehhh! - Reasonably nice amenities and the rooms and common areas are well appointed. Included breakfast was tasty and adequate, but nothing too special. Strictly self- Service. No air conditioning, so slep with window open. As my room face the road, I had to wear earplugs. I might have well slept on a stone slab. Absolutely no cushion to the mattress. And, pillows were small and lumpy. Not bad for the price, but I wouldn’t stay there again.
- Aleksandra (10/5): - A very clean, nice and well kept hotel in centre of Sofia. Marya, the receptionist, went above and beyond to ensure we have a confortable stay
- Sergei (10/5): - Everything is very good
- Lillowtie (10/5): - Great customer service, very clean and modern, close to a lot of sight seeing!
- Francisco (10/5): - Clean wide spaces in the room scarcely decorated but good for sleeping A/C individually controlled and working perfectly ( thermostat) which nowadays is a real luxe…
- Katarina (8/5): - The air conditioning was not very good. It was too hot.
They did not need to change towels every day, we think.
Apart from that, it was really good!
- herberth (8/5): - Great location. We stay here every year.
- Anka (4/5): - The property itself was fine, but we had several issues with the bathroom sink and the tabletop in the room as well as the food.
- Tracey Lilian (8/5): - Lovely building ,very quiet we had a junior suite which was very spacious and cleaned every day We really enjoyed our stay the location was great for exploring Sofia
Only downside was one day the breakfast was cold and we had sour milk but they rectified this very quickly
- ANDREW (8/5): Co Op Hotel - Decent Value - Generally happy with our choice. We had been thinking it was the Coop horel - but it's seemed to be actually the Co-Op as they had pictures of the Rochdale Pioneers from the 18th century in the bedroom corridors.
Aircon in our room seemed unavailable, both us and our frields seemed to have a choice of 'heat' or 'fan' (couldn't detect a difference on any 'fan' settings) and it was too noisy to open the window - lucily it wasn't really hot while we were there. Great to have a kettle and the breakfast was a bit hit and miss (they would heat one ban-marie (eggs) but not the other one (bacon etc). Lots of amenities in the room and products (although be very careful with the shaving kit!). Shower pressure was fabulous. Good location near the cathederal and mini market accross the road is well stocked. Bed was comfy and we were given another pillow (one in the cupobard had no pillowcase). Strange not to have a bar but you in the heart of a capital city so it was not an issue.
Overall would probably stay again. Pictures (which confusted our friends in a different hotel) show a monerlithic modern glass fronted hotel - bit it's actually the 6 story period building in the foreground and the big building maybe offices etc.
- Amanda (10/5): - One night, simple, restful stay — exactly what I needed! Lots of amenities in the room!
- Gary (8/5): - The hotel is nicely equipped with all amenities you can want, the area is awful.
- Ayse Inel (10/5): - Excellent
- Tania (10/5): - Had a great stay. Very nice and clean hotel. Breakfast was delicious and bus stop right infront of hotel. Would definitely stay again.
- riad (10/5): Friendly hotel Fair price - Very clean
- Andrew (10/5): - A very comfortable stay. The breakfast was really good and set us up for the day.
- Anthony (10/5): - It was extremely accommodating
- Jun Kyeoung (8/5): - I enjoyed the stay in the hotel.
- herberth (8/5): - Great location close to restaurants, shopping, historical places, galleries. Friendly staff and they offer parking.
Have stayed here before and will do so on future trips.
- Gillian (8/5): - Welcoming
- Nicholas (8/5): - Good location. Friendly staff. Spacious room. Would recommend
- Ion (4/5): - Very outdated hotel. Service far from being client oriented…….
- Daniel (8/5): Nice hotel - Staff were really nice and helpful. Very clean, a little dated but good price.
- Laura (6/5): Positives and negatives. - First the positives:
The COOP hotel is in a fantastic location in the heart of Sofia. Everything was walkable. The breakfast buffet was nice and offered a lot of selection. We had complementary small bottles of water in our room daily. The room is spacious and well laid out. The hotel felt safe and the area around the hotel also felt safe. The hotel has a fantastic sauna and locker facilities. (Seriously - book the sauna if you stay here!)
Then the negatives:
I tried to reach out to the hotel before my stay to arrange taxi service from the train station. They never replied. Nor did they apologize for failing to reply.
The room temperature averaged 27 degrees. I called the front desk due to the discomfortable heat in the room. Twice they told me they would turn on the AC to cool the room, the third time they told me that all they have it heat and the fourth time they told me that there was nothing they could do. With my window wide open the room cooled, but then I couldn't sleep from the noise of traffic.
Speaking of sleep, the bed was terribly uncomfortable and the bedding was scratchy. Between the heat, the hard mattress and the scratchy bedding, I could not sleep well.
The room had a deep soaking tub and a shower head in the tub. There was no curtain and just a small glass wall near the shower head. The shower was powerful. So powerful that whenever we took showers we had lakes all over the bathroom floor. The small glass wall was too small and insufficient.
- Marion Ellen (10/5): - Centrally located, exc2ll2nt amenities, incredible breakfast, helpful, friendly staff, especially Alexandra at the front desk. I stayed from 10/31/2022 to 11/6/2022.
- Sally (10/5): Great stay - Good breakfast and very comfy bed and pillows.
- Eyal (10/5): - Was nice confutable hotel good service, clean
- Glenn (10/5): - Conenient walk into the centre of town.
- herberth (8/5): - Nice hotel in the downtown area. Our double room was nice and spacious. There was an issue with the drainage but hotel personnel resolved same day.
Hotel is very close to lots of historical places and great restaurants. We were able to walk for lunch or dinner every day. Definitely will book again for future trips.
- jan (10/5): - Your Door system is not well, my keycard lost Data evryday, but the rest was perfect
- Karen (10/5): - This hotel had the largest bathtub I have ever seen. It was wonderful. Very accommodating staff!
- Felipe (10/5): Great stay - the staff was really nice and helpfull.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent city break or business trip hotel. - I enjoyed my stay at Coop hotel. The hotel is located really well in Sofia’s city centre. It is great for a bit of sightseeing and also a spot of shopping. Staff were very friendly and efficient.
- Bjarni (6/5): Look futher before you book - I think they bought there good reviues. When you flush the toilet water sprays all over you leg and the floor. Mini bar had 1 beer inside and no info in the room how to call room service or even if they have room service. Breakfast was like in two star hotel. Room was clean that is all good I can say about this hotel I will not book it again.
- Stanimira (10/5): perfect amazing value for money! - Friendly super clean in great location! you must go!!!1
- Stanimira (10/5): Great value for money. Couldn't fault it! - Very pleasant hotel. Roomy with great facilities. Location is tip top very central. Staff are very accommodating. I felt very safe and comfortable there. Would return in a heartbeat!
- Peter (2/5): - Absolute disaster, i was forced to pay twice for my stay, once with Expidia when i booked the room and once at hotel when i checked out. Management at the hotel is simply not existing
- Rishabh (10/5): - Very nice hotel.. friendly staff and very convenient
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place. I will definitely stay here next time as well. The staff is nice and friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel has a good location. Our room was spacious but yet cozy. Very clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The location was great and staff were helpful.
It’s just my rooms bathroom smells so bad had to change the room, and then when I changed it the room was very cold
But as it was central heating couldn’t do much.
- Claudia (10/5): - Excellent! Very nice staff. Room and bathroom were cleaned everyday but the bed was not made.
Didn’t get any indication on VIP package. Non withstanding was able to use the spa facilities for showering and getting ready to travel even after checking out that was very important due to a long flight
- David (8/5): - Based on the room rates and exterior photos, I thought this was more of an historic or luxury property. The hotel was fine but not fancy at all. It didn't feel overly welcoming - just a nice place to stay in Sofia. Excellent location for us as it was quiet at night and reasonable walking distance to metro and bus station. The bed was surprising very comfortable but the duvet had a stain and the carpet was worn (why no hardwood floors?). The bathroom was good and the room was clean with good climate control - A/C and window opened which was important. Breakfast was fine (typical) though for me hotel coffee is often of poor quality.
As an Expedia VIP I was offered Free Parking which is ridiculous as we had no car. Why bother to be a VIP hotel if you can't offer a benefit that a guest can enjoy. Instead a bottle of Bulgarian wine in the room or drink at the bar would be much appreciated (for example). I would consider staying there again but not for the rate I paid as it seemed overpriced based on the cost of living in Sofia - maybe that's due to a lack of competition in the city. So overall OK if you get a good price
- Demian (8/5): Good option for city centee - Great location, good rooms, average breakfast.
- Michel (10/5): - Fantastic value for the price, great location.
- Nick (8/5): - Well priced hotel within walking distance of city centre. Reasonable breakfast, nice rooms, friendly staff.
- Rusty (2/5): - We booked the wrong date by mistake and when we tried to work through expedia, the hotel refused to change the date one day forward. yes I read the terms and conditions and I will admit that they were technically correct and did not have to refund my booking or move the reservation.
If the hotel had been full and there was a convention in town and they would have lost money by making the change, then I would completely understand. This was not the case. In then end, I believe in the golden rule of treating others as you would like to be treated. I wish the hotel would have been a little more willing to adjust for the name of customer service. Based on this experience I can not suggest dealing with or consider booking with them in the future.
Companies that have rules most certainly have the right to enforce them as they see fit, but sometimes a little good will goes a long way. A class I taught previously, we worked with managers and showed them the data in regards to keep and attracting customers. I wish this company had had the benefit of this training.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice hotel in convenient area. - Initially I was in a very noisy room beside the staff room but was moved to an apt once I informed them about the noise issue. After that everything was good. Very nice friendly helpful staff. In a good area not far from the landmark church of Sofia. Would stay there again. Gym very small with few items of equipment.
- Nicola (8/5): - Good location, clean and big room
- Charles (10/5): Amazing Stay - Amazing service , clean , can’t wait to return
- Charles (10/5): 10+ - Great breakfast very. Friendly excellent service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good sized comfy quiet room. Nice helpful staff. Central location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location for visiting this wonderful city. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family
- Yvonne (10/5): Convenient location; modern hotel. - Friends from around the world were meeting for a holiday in Bulgaria and an assortment of us - from UK, USA, Australia, Ireland and the Netherlands - had booked into the Coop hotel. It was a typical business hotel with modern design, a varied breakfast selection, a central position and nothing against it at all. It was a little peculiar that, to get a drink at the bar, one had to ask the receptionist who would telephone to the adjacent building for a member of staff to come and serve but - if you were not in a hurry - this was not a problem.
- Maria (8/5): Great city centre hotel - Great hotel with a central location, close to the cultural sights of Sofia. Service is excellent, very efficient, breakfast was very good - we very much enjoyed our stay in COOP and hope to be back soon!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is new, has great amenities, spacious rooms and great location, as well as reasonable pricing so great value for money
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The team on the reception desk were amazing! Friendly and helpful, organising taxis and giving directions and recommendations - smiley, quick and efficient. That’s what makes a guest feel welcome and want to return again... Thanks so much - Simon
- Amir (10/5): - Nice hotel and good location with good breakfast and all was ok
- Ian (10/5): Excellently run hotel close to sights with parking - Rooms and service are as good as a Marriott, but at half the cost, service was excellent, absolutely pleased to stay there. Breakfast was good and staff couldn’t be more helpful. Position for cultural sightseeing is excellent as very close, but perhaps not classed as being in the main hotel area . Secure underground Parking was a real winner for us. Only thing could be improved was that the restaurant is not advertised or signed so we missed it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Brand new rooms, with good furnishings, comofortable bed and excellent amentities in the centre of Sofia, at very affordable rates
- Genevieve (10/5): - Delicious breakfast.
- Yan (8/5): - The bed was not very confortable
Breakfast is fine
I wanted to buy more nights, they proposed on price and then they changed to a higher price
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and big rooms. Friendly staff and in the middle of the city.
- ALAN (8/5): Nice Hotel - Nice hotel, clean and in an area within easy walking distance to the main sights. Staff very, very helpful. Wifi great.
The only negatives for us, were that the beds were on the hard side and the hot breakfast selection was not very hot.
- Shimon (8/5): Excellent, clean, quality, excellent breakfast - Excellent hotel, clean, good breakfast, very good location, close to everywhere on foot
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is comfortable the staff very friendly. The hotel is central to all transport sightseeing. Would stay in Hotel if visiting Sofia again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good hotel - Very nice hotel. 10 minutes from the main Serdica Metro. Lots of sights near by. Great rooms and bathroom. Good restaurants nearby and The Tea House, great for tea and live music and Wednesday's and Friday's.
- Matias (8/5): Okay - Good location and price value. Improve: gym facilities and breakfast variety
- Verified traveler (10/5): Value for money. - This hotel is modern and has all the facilities one would expect. Room and bathroom very clean. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide choice of food. The hotel is in an excellent position for walking to all the main sights.
- yevgenia (10/5): - Very nice, new hotel in the center of the Sofia, very easy to get to NDK, to Vitosha Blvd. and so forth. Perfect breakfast, fresh and tasty. Would be nice to have a lamp on a top desk with a mirror, needs more light.
- Stephan (8/5): Great choice - Only a short night stop but I would have liked to stay longer and enjoy the hotel more
- Ronald (8/5): 3 nights in Sofia - Hotel is very clean & friendly. Bed was to hard for my taste. The room was very nice. Absolutely a great value for the money. Convenient, walkable and the most excellent staff
- Farid (8/5): - it was good moments in the hotel especially regarding the warm hospitality of the staff. the location was near Sofia city center and the majority of historical places.
- D (10/5): Nice hotel close to main attractions - Hotel is basically brand new so in an excellent condition, clean, fresh and very nicely decorated. Breakfast is good with lots of choices of food thought the juices could be made fresh for the price (and they did not taste very nice). Hotel is easy to locate and is a 15min walk to the main attractions. Check in was smooth with the lady that checked us in being very nice. The people in the reception after that were not as nice or professional with a couple of them drinking alcohol behind the desk late in the evening and trying to hide in the room next to reception as soon as we came in.
- anan (10/5): perfect - thanks for all tony / monika all the best im come again
- Eyad (10/5): Wonderful hotel - Stayed 3 nights and everything was fine.
- Larry (8/5): Decent city centre hotel. - Enjoyable visit to Sofia for the weekend with two friends. The Coop hotel is in a good location to see the cathederal in Sofia and is a short walk to other attractions in the city. Standard double rooms were nice and clean. Large comfortable bed, with good firm matress (felt like memory foam?). Staff on the reception desk were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms had air-conditioning, though on the first night I wasn't able to adjust the temperature or turn it off, as it kept asking for a key code. Reception desk rectified this for me on 2nd day.
- Kevin (8/5): Nice Hotel with good location - The hotel was very nice and a very good location that waswalking distance to the sights, very good breakfast, only issue was the room cleaning didn't leave towels at night the front desk got that done and they didn't refill shampoos etc. other than that it was a very good place , Sophie is a wonderful city
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable room - Comfortable room, good location, friendly staff. Lots of choice at breakfast.
- paul (10/5): - We were in Sofia for four days. The hotel is in a great location for all the sights. The service was excellent, breakfast was good - I will be staying ther again for sure
- John (10/5): Excellent hotel and location - Fantastic hotel at a fantastic location at a very reasonable price.
- RAN (10/5): - Great
- Andrew (10/5): Great hotel - Great hotel, new and clean. Helpful staff and large rooms/bathrooms.
The bar was shut at 12 midnight but they did recommend we got drinks from the shop and sit on the terrace outside and drink them.
- Verified traveler (8/5): It really is the Coop. - Lovely service all round. Hotel was good, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. Seems to be part of some linked cooperative businesses.
- Maria (10/5): Good value for money - Recently renovated, comfortable and clean; good location quite close to a metro stop (7/10min walk)
- Ad (10/5): New hotel, great breakfast included - Very good hotel, walking distance from center. Very complete breakfast included and nice staff. Good bathtub as well.
- Yunan (8/5): Nice modernized hotel - Nice location, comfortable & modernized hotel room, solid breakfast, most of the staffs are friendly, Monica at the front desk is especially helpful! thank you!
The only downside is the shower, water splash everywhere, I guess this is the common problem In most European countries.
- Diana (10/5): Amazing hotel - Comfortable rooms, great location and good service. Very good and tasty breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel with excellent meeting rooms - Business trip. Hotel ideal. Meeting room in the separate conference center was excellent.
- Graham (8/5): COOP Hotel Sofia - Excellent hotel. Friendly & helpful staff & hotel situated fairly centrally with various modes of public transport close by. Also, many of the main sights in the city were within walking distance. Breakfast buffet was really good with plenty of choice but one word of warning don't try moving 2 tables together to sit more than 4 people as they get very upset!! Shame also the Lobby Bar closed at 10 pm. However, having said all this I would highly recommend the hotel for a stay in Sofia.
