The village is very narrow as is the driveway in the cottage but Tim the owner was very helpful at getting me parked! Hosts were very friendly and helpful with suggestion of where to eat (the local pub is tiny and gets very busy) I adored the two little black Labradors! Breakfast was delicious! The narrow village lanes and driveway! I have a big car so would be tempted to park out on the road (but not by the tidal river!)

Advice about dining, local sights, safest driving routes et al was readily forthcoming, even before our arrival. The Shippen cottage was both cosy and extremely well appointed. Every possible need and more had been carefully considered and amply provided for. We particularly appreciated the outstanding quality of the bed, bed linen and towels and the chic shower room contributed to the feel of a swanky hotel, according to our 12 year old daughter! Delicious homemade bread and biscuits were yet another lovely touch! Thank you so much for having us to stay at gorgeous Glebe Farm! We hope to see you again! Very warmly recommended!

Stephanie (10/5): Perfect quiet cottage with everything you need - We loved staying in the shippen. We travelled as a family, two adults and a 5 year old. The shippen was really well equipped, with lots of little extras that many places don't have with minimal inventory like cling film/foil/oil. Fresh bread and eggs on arrival were delicious. The beds were really comfy and the setting was idyllic. Our little boy was so excited when he got to help look for eggs in the morning. Wonderful hosts and a wonderful place to stay that we hope to come back to.

Owners were very friendly and helpful. Nothing. Narrow lanes to get there; traffic could be an issue in high season. Also check when the excellent local foodie pub is open - Thurs-Sat when we were there, 2 min walk from Glebe Farm.

Lindsay (10/5): A delightful and rich experience. - Delicious breakfast was a sociable affair served around a large table in the farmhouse kitchen which is complete with Aga and garden views. Our friendly hosts were generous with local knowledge and maps of good walks locally. We loved their 3 delightful dogs and the hens in the gardens. The location is quiet, peaceful and beautiful with the added interest of very high tides whilst we were there bringing water across the adjacent lane for a couple of hours each day. This was not a problem as it is entirely predictable and there is a raised walkway above it. Delicious homemade shortbread along with tea and coffee in the room. There wasn't anything we didn't like.

The breakfast was made to order. This can't be changed, but beware that when the tide comes in, you can't necessarily drive in or out of property; but if you park closeby, on the other side of bridge, it's a very close walk.

Ian (10/5): - Tim and Shelia were wonderful hosts. We stayed for a few nights in The Shippen, there self catering cottage. There was four of us, 2 adults and 2 kids and it was perfect mini break. The grounds of the house were lovely with chickens roaming and the house was just up from the tidal creek. The area was lovely and rural and quiet but still had a fantastic pub in the village and not to far drive from some shops. Vest if all were some of the fantastic beaches that were still quiet even in half term. I would definitely go back for another stay.

Great location for coastal walks and beaches and plenty of nice local pubs. One tiny thing…. a washing line and a few pegs would have been useful. Having said that the heated towel rail in the shower room was a good alternative.

Comfortable bed, beautifully decorated room with modern en-suite, luxury soap/shampoo products, tea and coffee making and handmade biscuits. Friendly hosts who really couldn’t do enough for you. Unable to take advantage of the breakfast but suspect I’d missed a treat. Could smell the bread baking in the morning. Parking was available but needed some skilled manoeuvres in the space so parked on the road outside without any bother. Beautiful village setting but roads all single track to get in, some easier and more passable than others, depending on your car. Dog friendly property and very welcoming resident dogs - even with a 12 wk old puppy was made very welcome by all. Hope to return, indulge in breakfast, once my puppy is older and easier! Highly recommend.

Richard (10/5): Great place to stay - Our hosts - Sheila & Tim - not only gave us the warmest of initial welcomes, but continued, throughout our stay, to be the perfect hosts. Their hospitality was at the highest level. Glebe Farm is a lovely place to stay. Sheila cooks a fresh, delicious breakfast with locally sourced produce. If you can, try and leave some room for Tim's freshly baked, wonderful sourdough - then you can try Sheila's chunky marmalade or raspberry or strawberry 🍓 jam! There are very local good pubs and idyllic coastal walks. If you're driving, some of the lanes are not for the faint-hearted. But when you venture into deeper West Country you should know that anyway. All in all a perfect stay. Thank you. We will be back for sure. BTW, the two labradors - Truffle & Twiggy (mother & daughter) - are, as advertised, very friendly. Their faithful guardian bark is far worse than their bite. The latter is non-existent! Nothing. There was absolutely nothing about the Hirsts, Glebe Farm or the environs that my wife or I disliked

We were wanting a beautiful location with easy access to coastal walks, picturesque towns and villages, and nice places to eat. We were not disappointed. Not only has the farm house been renovated to such a high standard, but it's hosts; Tim and Sheila were such a pleasure to chat with. They were very welcoming and their knowlegde of the area made our trip even more enjoyable. Handy tip: The Glebe Farm website has a fabulous list of recommended places for a meal out. Our room was very comforable with everything we needed, like a home away from home. The breakfasts were delicious with freshly ground coffee, eggs directly from the organically fed chickens which walked freely in the field behind their home, and home made bread and jams. We look forward to returning and exploring more of the area.

Feenon (10/5): Great stay with friendly hosts - Everything WiFi would have helped as we were not able to get any mobile reception to plan our trips etc. Tim did say to come to the main building to use the internet, but we were night owls and didn't want to disturb them late at night. Overall enjoyed our stay and would come again.
Fortunate (9/5): Absolutely fantastic hosts and facilities - The owners are very friendly and they gave us great tips about activities to do. The cottage was very clean, fresh and modern. They left us some lovely breakfast items. My 9 year old daughter fell in love with their dogs. There's nothing to not like.

The hosts were incredibly friendly, with great advice about where to go and what to do in the local and surrounding area. Nick (10/5): Wonderful, highly recommend - Glebe Farm set on the edge of the wonderful South Hams village of South Pool is a lovely relaxing place to stay. A traditional farmhouse that has been tastefully renovated throughout, Tim and Sheila welcome you into their home with consummate ease and show you to a modern yet quaint well proportioned bedroom with good bathroom including a rain shower. After a good night's sleep on the very comfortable beds (we had the twin room) you are invited to eat a leisurely breakfast of fresh fruit salad, locally produced ingredients for a full English (alternatives are available) followed by homemade bread/toast and homemade jams, washed down with plentiful amounts of coffee and tea. Glebe Farm is a wonderful place to stay with easy access to walks in the South Hams, and a 3 minute stroll to the wonderful local pub Millbrook Inn for an evening meal. Perfect.

Spencer (9/5): A very enjoyable summer break in lovely surroundings. - The location and quality of the accommodation was superb made all the better by excellent weather. ( In rainy weather it wouldn’t be as appealing ). Rural surroundings and complete silence. Though adequate, the car parking was not easy, and it would have been nice to get the car up close to the hut.
Bettina (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful restaured estate, lovely garden and sitting areas in the green, big and cosy rooms with modern bath rooms. Be aware, Gleeb is very personal, not a place for hermitage, you are sleeping under the roof of the hosts and have breakfast at a large table with other guests and get served there right from the open kitchen of Tim and Sheila, who are lovely, witty and caring hosts! I enjoyed that social interaction very much! Second be aware: Glebe Farm is not a farm anymore. If you are traveling with children and expecting lively, hard farm work, sheeps, horses or pigs around, you have to content yourself with two lovely labradors and some nosy chickens, running around. Third be aware: The estate is right in the centre of little South Pool, opposite the street, that crosses the little river. The sign, that says Glebe Farm, is at the moment standing on the ground and I drove by the place once, before getting help from two nice guests, who showed me the way. The Millbrook Inn, a restaurant and pub, just 5 walking minutes away, is not a bargain, but excellent! I liked Glebe Farm a lot. Thanks for the lovely stay in your home!

Daniella (10/5): Cosy and charming stay - the sweetest most charming property nestled in a very quaint village. it was the perfect base for a nearby wedding! the couple were so lovely, helpful and accommodating and their breakfast was amazing. farm to table ingredients. they were so warm, it felt like going to your friends home for breakfast. our room was comfortable and clean with an en-suite. and of course we loved the doggies Truffle and Twiggy 💕
James (10/5): Romantic 'minimoon' getaway - We booked the Shepherd's Hut at Glebe Farm at late notice for a 'minimoon', and so glad that we did! Sheila and Tim were highly welcoming, the hut itself was immaculately presented, and so the extremely cosy. It was also in a stunning location in South Pool. Would highly recommend the Shepherd's hut for a romantic getaway, and offers just the right level of privacy! There was some confusion on booking.com over the breakfast...we had booked on the basis that breakfast was provided, and it later became clear that this was not the case, however this did not take away from the experience as Tim and Sheila ensured that there was a hamper of bread, croissant, eggs, butter, Jam and orange juice to prepare ourselves and see us through the three mornings of our stay (there was also a bottle of prosecco).

Wendy (10/5): Wonderful break in this beautiful part of Devon with exceptional hosts. - The breakfast was amazing. It's served in a cozy, warm kitchen very homely. My husband thought the full English breakfast was the best he'd had on this holiday. Our hosts gave us lots of ideas and directions of best ways to enjoy the area. We were very sorry to leave Glebe Farm and would happily return. There wasn't anything we could fault about our stay.
