Guest Reviews
- Kevin (2/5): No blind and no toilet roll - I stayed here a few years ago and it was fine. This time not so much. No blind in my room, no toilet roll in the bathroom. Mentioned this at reception. Nothing was done about it.
For £110 per night I expected better. This property really has gone down hill. Which is to be expected with it being a student accommodation BUT let the prices reflect this.
- Terry (10/5): - Clean, new looking, safe property. Room was very warm, even with window open and fan.
- Ray (8/5): Overpriced for simple basic accommodation - Hot, hot, hot! Yes, mentioned in many reviews, but this building seem to generate their own heat.20c outside, 27c inside, all night.
The accommodation is the u diversity accommodation for students, all I can say is poor students, especially how much they have to pay for this small room.
Each flat has 6 individual bedrooms with a communal kitchen sitting area. It's easy to find the accommodation, follow signs for building 7. There are 4 blocks of accommodation, reception desk is between building 1 and 2,you can park round the rear then go in the back door.
The reception staff are great, walk you to your room. I discovered later on my room could be entered without the room key, but I just put the deadbolt on. The room is small, the bed, you can hear every spring twang, very thin sheet, no mattress protector, put the two pillows together and you might make one normal pillow.
There is a thermostat on the wall that is for display only, it does nothing. It was 27c in the room, my car said at the time it was 21. The blind on the window, the cord was broken, could move it up and down a wee but but that was it.
They supply a fan in the room, all it does is move hot air about. No TV in the room, there is one in the common area, it's so basic, no linking to your phone for screen sharing and you get a stiff neck having to watch the top of the wall where it has been mounted.
The sleep was poor, so hot. Take a single sheet, duvet too hot. For what it is, it is way too expensive.
- Eleanor (6/5): - The room is very nice but heated up overnight and the controls did not seem to work. The bus service was limited so I had to leave on the first bus to ensure I caught my train. I had been staying in Inverness at a nice B and B earlier for the same cost, very nicely presented, near town and I got breakfast so this had far less going for it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Sauna - Usually I would see the reviews on a place like this and rate it well because it's exactly as it's described. I went into this with very low expectations, and they were still not met. Issues with the cards/locks, no garbage bin in the room/bathroom, slamming doors at all hours, bathroom light that doesn't turn off, no handsoap, and the biggest issue of all....insanely HOT!! It was an average/slightly chilly day out so no idea if they cranked the heat or what because there's no logical reason why it should have been that hot. My chocolate bar melted into a puddle on the desk. The fan they supplied felt like it was blowing hot air because of how hot it was and that was with the window wide open letting the cool breeze in. So uncomfortable!
- Preeti (6/5): - The floor wasnt hoovered and all the dust stuck to my feet when walking. Otherwise it was nice. Staff was cooperative.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No frills stay. - Difficult to locate had to ask security.
Understandably basic room which was clean. The bathroom light & extractor fan automatically engage on entry & lasts 30 mins, noisy at night unable to switch off.
Kitchen/tv room pleasant but not sure what I could use & no information regarding nearest shop, bus times etc. Location & view was fine & pleasant walk through grounds into town.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very basic accommodation and not value for money - Room and bed is very basic and not value for the money they are charging. There is no A/C or fans in the room and all the rooms and corridors are very hot and difficult to sleep on a hot summer day. Campus is relatively new and being developed, but accommodation is around 45 to 50 mins walk from the city centre.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hostel conditions at hotel prices - Pretty disappointed overall with my stay. Had there been other options when booking last minute I wouldn't have booked. The room had long black hairs all over the floor and bed when I arrived. The sheet was very thin with dirt on it. Issues that had to be fixed like the window getting stuck and the shower tap being stuck on scalding hot. The fire doors whilst adding security, slam loudly at all hours of the night and the window had to be open at all times since the heating was high.
The young guy at reception was very nice and tried to fix what he could but clearly run off his feet with a lot to cover.
Recommend that management higher better cleaners and set prices at a lower level to match the hostel like conditions.
- Neil (4/5): - its fair to say we won't be staying again. Points to take away from this experience.
students running around shouting in the early hours of the morning doesn't help when you have a hard day ahead of you. sharing a kitchen with the students. If you decide to rent out rooms you have to have the option for a tv surely? nope not here!!
The advert on expedia is misleading and doesn't give you the true picture of what it would be like for someone staying.
- Ian (8/5): Not ideal for warm summer nights - Clean, comfortable but basic accommodation, value for money. Only real complaint is that no provision is made for warmer weather. Being a new build i'm sure it is well insulated for cold weather, but no means of cooling in warm weather has been provided. I'm not expecting air con but 28C is not a comfortable temperature for sleeping! It wasn't a heatwave the night I stayed and I can't imagine staying here if it was!
- James (6/5): Overpriced room, - After finding the place we were shown to a room, it was basic to say the least, it was a bed for the night, no more no less, £75 was cheeky, in my opinion it was £40 at most
- Elizabeth (4/5): Awful - Dirty, no toilet roll, heat on, springs coming through mattress
- Hugh (10/5): - We arrived after a few wrong turns my sat nav stopped as soon as we came off the A9. not a big deal .
We were welcomed and taken to our Studio room which was spotless and had everything from cooking to showering that we needed very satisfied.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This place needs to provide a better description of where to check in. Dorm rooms on a college campus. Not much nearby for food, etc, so eat before you arrive or bring your own. Taxi driver at train station knew how to get there, but not exactly where to drop us off. The check in building is not where you stay. We had to walk around in the dark a while before we found it, and no one around to ask. Building 7! Needs a big sign! Other than that, it’s an ok, inexpensive place to crash for an early morning flight. Taxi to airport was 20 pounds. You get a key card for several entrance doors. Each unit has its own bathroom, with about 7 units per “flat”, and a full kitchen. Beds not the greatest, could feel the springs. Towels provided, but no toiletries, so need your own, even soap. Not much noise from students and no bed bugs like other reviews mentioned. Simple, no frills, very clean place.
- KCT (8/5): - Overall ok
Bright room
Location quiet inconvenience
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and convenient. Lovely grounds, quiet. No probs
- Verified traveler (4/5): Yikes! - When we arrived to the area we couldn't find the reception as the college has a building labelled reception and signs directing you too it, but it is not a part of the accommodation. There were several other people looking for it as well. We tried calling for help with no answer. When we informed the front desk the admitted they knew about the problem but had done nothing to fix it. The guy checking us in was nice, but clearly overwhelmed.
The room was fairly clean but small. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable with springs poking you all night. It was definitely not a bed for two people as advertised. And, the pillows were thin and clearly old.
The kitchen hard overflowing garbage, no recycling and no dish soap. When we asked the front desk about this they said they didn't know who took out the garbage handed us a large black garbage bag and informed us soap was not provided for the dishes.
One last note; there is not enough parking for all of the guests and it's very unclear as to where you can and cannot park outside of the parking lots directly outside your building.
I understand it's a cheap accommodation, but this is beyond unacceptable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room is great, communal areas are not well-equipped and very dirty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely room, excellent bathroom and great shower.Really good security measures and lots of fire doors.Good price too.
- Anthony (6/5): Not great - Bed had the springs coming through the mattress, it is the student accommodation and the noise was horrendous, also the staff need to look at the bin areas outside the accommodation as it's borderline for rats, add to that the mountain of cigarette ends outside Grouse and Osprey, it's pretty shabby.
It is as I say the student accommodation, but it's not particularly cheap to stay at, I've been using it since it opened and it's gradually declining. The rooms are actually great, but the beds are torturous, cheap thinly padded mattresses that are now well past their sell by date. Cleaning wise, I stay typically for 5 days, and you get one service of the room and towel exchange during that time.
Just don't stay thinking you are going to get an unbroken nights sleep, doors slam loudly, laminate flooring everywhere and the walls are paper thin. But, you get what you pay for, that does not excuse the lack of exterior cleaning, and the quality (or lack of it) of the mattress.
- A (4/5): - Small mattress, no toiletries, no extra pillow, no blanket
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice clean ensuite. Did the job.
Towels provided but no soap at all. Knowing this would have been helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Car parking, clean and WiFi. The only down side was the slamming doors.
- DM (10/5): - Very friendly staff on arrival
- Raymond (8/5): Business night in Inverness - Really like the simplicity of the setup,it suits my needs as a work venue.
My only complaint would be the temperature of the room. In the days of energy conservation why are the rooms so hot? Mine was 24 degrees!
- Hani (8/5): Newly built university residents - The rooms are simple but have everything you need
The beds are not comfy but rooms are clean and the building is new
I would stay again
- Matthew (4/5): Looks good but. . - The staff were friendly and the place looks fine. Had to tell the next room to shut up at 3am, the subfloors squeak and the vinyl floor covering means the corridors are noisy. On the ground floor, the external lighting kept the room light even with the blind down. Finally, given the cost of the room, there should be tea bags and coffee available
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, comfortable. - Ideal for solo short stay trip. Student accommodation rented out for summer. They are newly built so are warm and comfortable. Rooms are small, but have en-suite. Bring your own soap. No kettle or tv in the room, but there is free internet which is fantastic. There is a kitchen available for use, I didn’t use, but good to have it available.
- Michael (8/5): Modern University accommodation - Great place to stay, but you need to be aware this is a Student accommodation block. New, well appointed and convenient, but it’s not a hotel.
A great base for getting out into the country, just off the A9.
The staff were brilliant and really welcoming to everyone.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a quite location for most of the stay. The price is good but amenities such as food services are a short drive away. Would have like access to a microwave to prepare food.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room and apartment were clean and staff in reception were very friendly and helpful.
Did not enjoy the fire alarm being set off by burnt toast at 12am as my partner is in crutches and was not a great experience trying to get him down the stairs.
The accommodation itself is very difficult to find at first as not easily signposted.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Shame others dont wash up after them selves and no staff at a weekend to ensure its done. But other wise no problem
- Alan (10/5): Good service - Very good, tidy & clean. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Once on the campus the signage is very poor and confusing - finding Reception is extremely difficult. The rooms are very small with no soap and minimal pillows
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and well kept rooms. Closer to the hospital for work -walkable
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cheap feeling matras, loud,.... train next door, all hours food traffic in halls with door banging. Very small bed if you are with two people. Cleaning is starting to slip... now still reasonable clean as it is new but starting to show that corners are cut.... this place is budget friendly
- NIGEL (10/5): This is not a hotel. - Lovely , peaceful. Safe , secure, Very clean. This is NOT a hotel but rather a student halls of residence with no thrills but is a clean safe room in a spotless block with a great ensuite bathroom, no tv and a comfy bed with kitchen facilities up the hall. Just what we wanted, needed and expected.Met at the door upon arriving and leaving. Very nice staff.
- Fiona (8/5): Need a map - Perfect for a couple of nights. Had a little trouble finding it, definitely need some signs. But with help from a friendly security guard I found the correct building and the guy that checked me in was very friendly. Room looked very clean apart from a couple of stray dark hairs on the top of the duvet. Will definitely stay again.
- Don (8/5): Clean & comfy - Good comfortable accommodation handy for the UHI Campus.
- Louise (8/5): - Worth what you pay, basic, clean, modern and safe. Great location.
- Frank (6/5): Return to University. Hotel or hostel? - Almost new University Accommodation so you are given a study bedroom with a three quarter sized bed. Bathroom new, shower has limited force. I was there six nights and the towels were changed once, the bedding not at all. No soap is provided. When I asked thinking they had omitted to put any out I was told this was hostel accommodation so I could not expect toiletries. Yet it is being marketed as a hotel on the sites at the same price as Bed and Breakfasts. On the last day a snagging gang came to correct snags with the new build. Appropriate for a hotel in use? Coffee or tea was provided every five days for all guests in the communal kitchen where there was a TV. I enjoyed my stay and the facilities but they need to make clear about the need to bring your own soap and toiletries. Good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Got off the bus at the University stop, saw the main building, and asked several students where the dorms were. They actually misdirected us toward the main building, you should head LEFT toward the farthest building, about 1/2 mile. Check in was effortless, and we found our own room small but clean.
We stayed at one in Dublin, Binary Hub, which was similar. After unpacking, my wife jumped into the shower, and the shower pan filled with water, blocked drain. The front desk Josh was helpful, but had no plunger, or anything to help. He changed our room immediately. These things happen, but a tool would have prevented packing and moving. After 3 nights the sheets and towels were supposed to be changed. We saw the cleaning person on our way out, he checked our room key and assured us they would be changed, We returned after 8PM, and nothing had been touched. Front desk was unable to do anything.Next day we checked out. I messaged the management about a refund, and have heard nothing. The kitchen and TV room were good, we like to have big salads at night to balance the restaurant food eaten while out. I can recommend these type of accomodations for people who like to walk, prepare some of their own meals, and don't need luxury digs.Internet was good also.
- Mohammaf (8/5): - Very for from city nothing near to eat or other needs
- jasmine (4/5): It is a student accommodation, very basic. - This is a basic accommodation, no frills. There is not even soap to wash your hands.
- Anne (8/5): - All good except location outside city. Had a bit of a drive but it was all good.
- JONATHAN (10/5): Clean/Cheap Inverness Accomodation - No problems with stay room was clean and adequate, be aware there is no TV in the room. Bathroom clean and fine. The building is one of four at the end on a very newly developed area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A little difficult to find the check-in desk, but otherwise comfortable and convenient to the hospital.
- b (4/5): Only stay here if you have a car. - Too far, ab out .7 mile, from.the closest bus stop no shops, restaurants, etc within more than a mile. No rubbish containers in rooms
We were there two days before we were told thete was a kitchen we could use
..most of the time the reveption area eas vacant.
- John (8/5): Campus residence good price - This is the campus residence of Inverness University so not a hotel. The rooms are small but ok there is a big communal kitchen and a strict 11 am checkout.
For the price it's good value but a 30 minute walk to the centre.
- NB (8/5): Ideal for a budget short stay - Needed to be near to Raigmore Hospital to visit a relative so the location was ideal. Room was very clean and ideal for a short stay.
- Philip (10/5): Very secure, clean and practical - Best low cost option for a base to see The Highlands
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nc500 tour - Was a low cost budget option. Rooms were spotless and lad on reception very helpful. We were a little disappointed with location as long way from centre.
- Hessel (8/5): - Perfect and (almost) new accomodation. Luckily windows can open far as temperature is quite high inside building
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing! - I stayed at the Campus before. This time the accommodation/ flat’s condition is quite poor and the kitchen is not clean.
- Devakumaran (8/5): Mr D - It wasn’t bad, little far from town though.
- Robert (10/5): great value accomodation - Great clean accommodation. Very good value for money. Great location, good WiFi
- Joe (10/5): - Super accommodation. Would suggest the property provides tea-cloths and clothes hangers - apart from that all good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No-nonsense budget accommodation, comfortable and convenient. The location is fine if you have a car, but a bit out of town if you haven't. The kitchen is sparsely equipped but has the basics; a microwave would have been useful but I managed OK without.
- Suzie (8/5): Good value - The Reception staff are friendly and helpful. The communal kitchen is sometimes not supplied with tea/coffee for the guests.
Minor problems in the guestroom such as window blinds or door locks not working properly
- vicki (8/5): - Would have liked to check in earlier got there at 2.30 told to come back at 3. Other than that great place close to town
- Barra (6/5): Cheap and Cheerful accommodation. - This is typically student accommodation and not a hotel by any means. It offers good, basic accommodation ideal for a one or two night stay. In addition, the provision of kitchen facilities helps to keep costs down, if eating out is above your budget. The rooms are designed for a single person though, so sharing would be a tight squeeze. Sadly, some of the people in my flat did not clear up themselves which meant using a dirty kitchen. Notices asking people to do so may have helped along with the provision of tea towels etc. Next time, I'll book a studio flat thus avoiding such issues. More expensive perhaps, but worth it.
- Joy (10/5): Cityheart Inverness - The accommodation is well kept, basic but more than adequate for a short stay. The room itself is quite small but with the added bonus of the kitchen and living area it is great. The location has a good bus service for those without a car, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was great to have use of a full kitchen so good for those on a budget. Make sure you stop at the reception building as you enter the campus to get directions to the accommodation. They were very helpful about access tot he lock area from the campus and despite other reviews it is easy to find.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No value for money - Worst place to stay. Shower was broken in 05-46-3, staff couldn't fix and asked to use shared shower, which is no where to be located. No alternate room was offered we didnt pay for common shower, we paid for a private shower. Contact phone number always goes to voicemail. Shower is too small for a human being. Noisy all the time. No value for money
- C (8/5): Close to city centre hotel - Hotel was very nice.
Unexpected decent price.
Great sized room.
- Lorraine (8/5): Great student accomm for travellers of all ages - With your own transport this is a great, no frills, place to stay. As I was travelling by train I needed taxis to and from the station. At £10 each way that was a considerable increase on the budget price. If I were to stay again I would remember to take my own soap, and to eat before taking a taxi. Alternatively you can take your own food and used the shared kitchen which was immaculate. There are no convenient eateries within a reasonable walking distance. The accommodation was modern and pristine. Lots of sockets but no TV
- Lu (8/5): Comfortable - Comfortable rooms, nice shower, good sized kitchen & fridge. A little far to be convenient to walk to the centre, a 15min walk to & from the bus stop (fast, £1.60) or a couple of minutes/£8 in a taxi.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very basic,if we go back would book a studio room - Suited our purpose, good value for price. Not as close to town centre as we would like.
- Gerry (8/5): Great location - I love walking so the location suited me . 30 minute walk to the town centre, and a short walk to Culloden Moor.
- jennifer (6/5): Hotel closer to hospital and convenient to walk an - Pleasant stay except noises in the corridors of tourists either coming very late in the night or leaving early in the morning and chatting loudly disturbing the sleep of others, especially hospital employees who have to wake up early for work
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional Place to Stay! - I stayed at CityHeart Campus acccomodation and I was super impressed! I felt very safe and comfortable here being a single female traveller. Stefan and Mike were excellent hosts and made check in a breeze. I was even shown exactly where my room was and when I couldn’t figure out how to close my window, Stefan was right there to help. Super stay/super hosts!
- Ruth (6/5): Better with transportation - A newly constructed facility still getting it together. Meant for student housing. Nice kitchen and tv room. Great security. A bit remote from town. Great for a short stay.
- Mark (10/5): Reasonable place to stay. - Beds seems smaller then double beds at home. Was afraid that I would roll onto floor during the night. Matress was ok. Pillows very thin. Bring your own shampoo and soap. Although trains run right by, the noise was hardly noticeable. No TV in room.
- Robert (4/5): - No sign for the reception so difficult to find, no soap, shampoo or tv in room. Room was small with a very tight shower to get into and out of.
I would however say it was definitely value for money and would return there in the future.
- Graeme (10/5): - Great place to stay. I found it a challenge to find as it is on the University campus. Just head for location 7 and go into the min foyer and you have the right place. Amazing location.
- Keith (8/5): Good stop while travelling - A good stop while travelling. Slightly difficult to find as there are no signposts on the university site unless you know to look for the accommodation number. Very clean and well presented. Shared kitchen a bonus.
There is a Tesco and cinema site within walking distance but little otherwise except by car.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Not a bad price for a single room. Very clean, modern, shower worked well. Didn't come with a hairdryer but did have clean towels. No soap or shower gel, so bring your own.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, Bright, short car ride to attractions.
