Guest Reviews
- janevD1484EB (10/5): Excellent value comfortable and very welcoming. - This guesthouse could not be more perfect especially for a solo traveller.
My room was spotless the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
The breakfast buffet was exceptional.
On my return everyday from a hike there was complimentary tea and freshly baked cakes.
- francish2018 (6/5): Nice view over Narvik from this Guesthouse. - The Guesthouse is located easy walking distance from the centre of Narvik. It is on a hill and there is good view, particularly from the upper rooms. It's clean and the wi-fi works. My toilet wasn't en suite but in practice I rarely had to wait. Breakfast left room for improvement - e.g. no normal tea (only Earl Grey), scrambled egg is cold. Not cheap but OK for Norway.
- CAAbcfc (10/5): Great choice - Unsure as to where to stay on the way from Tromso to Svolvaer on a first night after picking up a car at Tromso airport. Decided to invest and drive the extra few miles to Narvik and Breidablikk Gjestehus. Paid us back with interest - easy to find and a very relaxed stay with efficient check-in, decent room and safe parking right outside the front door. Great recommendation given as to where to eat dinner and breakfast served in-house in the morning was also excellent. The outside terrace is a splendid feature - sitting out late on a summer's evening was delightful. Would revisit without hesitation!
- OnAir19595942686 (10/5): Cosy stay in good location - I stayed in single room for two nights. The room had two small tables, a chair and around 80 cm x 200 cm bed. Room was cleaned during my stay. There is no lift, be aware if you have bad knees. Breakfast, entrance, reception and common balcony are on 4th floor. Breakfast is good, limited selection but well enough and tasting good. Nice view from rooms.
- Thomas (8/5): -
- robert (6/5): - Four flights of stairs was doable but not expected
- Brit Elin (10/5): Mye for pengene - Billig og bra. Frokosten var ok, ferske vafler hadde gjort susenđ.
- H.J. (8/5): - Leuke en schone accomodatie met prima bedden.
Ontbijt mocht iets uitgebreider
- unordinary_traveller (4/5): Enjoyable soured at the end - I actually enjoyed my stay, until they charged me three times then ended up costing my money in the refund process and not making good on their word to compensate for it.
So unfortunately for what was not a big amount of money I can only rate poor due to dishonesty in communication. Sometimes itâs just the principle.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice place, great welcome as keys were all ready for us. The room was ok but a bit old - mattress was incredibly uncomfortable and the shower just flooded. Breakfast was not impressive.
- Noël (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Narvik - Our third stay and it was great as usual. We always appreciate the homey and friendly atmosphere and the location. One issue was that the hot water in the shower was a little unpredictable at times (no hot water) and we would have appreciated access to a kettle (unfortunately the water in the thermoses in the lounge was lukewarm in the evenings). Nevertheless, we plan to stay at Breidablikk again on future trips to the region!
Eneste tips: flytt vasken, ev ogsÄ speilet inntil dusjveggen. UnngÄr Ä stange i taket!
- Jon (10/5): 1 natt i Narvik - Veldig god service - mye hotellrom for pengene !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Tyst och lugnt. Fantastisk utsikt Skönt med golvvÀrme pÄ badet. Bra med mörklÀggningsgardin. God frukost, fanns fantastiskt god hjortronsylt. Kaffe och goda hembakade chokladkakor alltid tillgÀngligt.
- Christa (8/5): Siisti, pieni huone - Huone siisti vaikkakin melko pieni. Huonojalkaisille ei kyllÀ sovi, runsaasti portaita. Huone oli siisti ja henkilökunta ystÀvÀllistÀ. HyvÀ aamiainen.
- Petri (10/5): loistava majapaikka matkalla pohjoiseen - Hieno paikka ja hyvÀ palvelu.
- Anne (10/5): - Very clean place with friendly host. Wonderful breakfast. Nothing bad to say about this place. High recommendations.
- ingrids271191 (10/5): Fantastic! - We stayed one night while driving trough Narvik on our way to BodĂž. If you need a cheap and nice place to stay, this is it. Very nice staff, good breakfast, nice rooms and dog friendlyđ„° Next time we wil stay for longer!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Flott sted - Flott beliggenhet, sentralt og helt praktfull utsikt!! Hyggelig personale.
Ville uansett reist hit igjen.
- Siv Anita (8/5): Utrolig utsikt - Nydelig utsikt fra spisesalen.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Helt grei overnatting, god atmosfĂŠre, hyggelig betjening og midt i byen.
Overnatter gjerne flere ganger der.
- TravelFrits (8/5): Cozy hotel with beautiful view over the city - Being home again after a, partly, wonderful holiday in Norway I would thank the whole team for the hospitality and kindness during our prolongued stay in the guesthouse.
Unfortunately we had to stay 2 nights more, but we enjoyed this time despite of the stress we had with booking, rebooking, cancelling, checking informations from railway company, airlines, governments and so on.
The team is very friendly and helpful.
- Beate (8/5): - Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal, gutes FrĂŒhstĂŒck, zentrale Lage, groĂartige Aussicht
- Thomas (10/5): personal touch, cozy feeling - Cosy small hotell with great view. Run by the owner. Nice (small) living room area for relaxing, talking or working.
- Fevs (10/5): So cosy ! - We stayed here for 3 nights in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights . We were not disappointed .
Yes our room was small but we were prepared for that . It was very much like a cabin on a cruise ship ..more functional than anything else . It was spotlessly clean . Shower room had a heated floor and was in the style of a wet room.
As others have mentioned there is no storage for clothes etc but we didnât find it a problem .
Breakfast is a small buffet but perfectly adequate and there is a cosy lounge with coffee and homemade cookies . A nice touch .
We were truly lucky to see the lights from our hotel window one night and then again the following evening when we went a bit further away from the town .
It is an easy walk from the train station and as mentioned all uphill but it has to be said most things in Narvik are uphill !
Quite a few restaurants are within walking distance and I recommend a trip up the mountain in the cable car .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful room with great view on Narvik. The breakfast was delicious.
- Loubielou1968 (10/5): A Little Gem! - My two grown up sons and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. The staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. The guesthouse was immaculate and so cosy. Breakfast was included and served a good range of items. The breakfast room over-looked the whole town of Narvik and next door was a cosy lounge which had tea, coffee and cookies available all day/evening which was very welcome after a busy day out in the snow! The triple family room was very spacious and well equipped and my only issue was that there were only a few hooks and hangars for clothes storage and could have done with a set of drawers as the room was more than big enough to have this. The Breidablikk is in a great location to access the town, even though it was up a steep hill when walking. It was near to some nice restaurants and 2 shopping centres and also to a great friendly local pub, the Narvik Guten and my sons loved that it was so near to the ski slope for snowboarding. I would absolutely recommend this guesthouse as it breaks away from the big generic hotel brands and offers so much more. When I visit Narvik again I would absolutely book into the Breidablikk Guesthouse- a true gem!
- Cato (8/5): Koselig - God standard. Koselig, rolig og flott utsikt. Hyggelig ansatte.
- Nicholas (4/5): Disappointing Experience - The rooms in the hotel were extremely small and there was barely enough space for us let alone our luggage. The walls were also very thin and noise from other rooms kept us up all night. The lower rooms had a mildew smell. The only redeeming aspect was that the breakfast was very good, but not a comfortable place to stay unless they make some changes to the rooms.
- Gabrielle (10/5): Udsigt formidabel - SkĂžn udsigt
God beliggenhed
Dejlig mad
God kinesisk restaurant fru Lam
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Only negative is lack of elevator and had to carry our backs down two flights of stairs
- jean-pierre (4/5): Passez votre route !
I övrigt litet men ok rum med bra frukost.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and loved the outside balcony overlooking the city.
- Jaime (6/5): - The beds in the room are two small. Otherwise it is fine with a good breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Narvik is a beautiful city located in a wonderful landscape. This guesthouse takes advantage of it as the rooms and the dining room provide a great overlook of the city.
Bathroom was minuscule but the room was very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location in centre town, good views, great common rooms for games, drinks.
- Ugurd (8/5): Small rooms but lovely setting - Our room was on the small side and we really had to arrange our stuff. There were no closets. It was two stairs down without a lift (yes the town is hilly). Having said that we really liked both the breakfast and the splendid evening views from the terrace with a glass of wine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice, quiet area of Narvik and perfect for a night's stop on the way north. Very clean rooms, although rather on the sparse side, and a beautiful breakfast and lounge room. Good find!
- Maria (10/5): - Litet mysigt hotell med fantastisk utsikt. Okej frukost. Mycket trevlig personal.
Trevlig personal, god frukost.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was so uncomfortable I was unable to sleep all night. There was constant noise of people coming and going up the stairs or cars on the road. Our room was basically at the bottom of the stairwell with a very uninspiring view of the road
- ohusby (8/5): Recommended! - Exactly at midnight June 11 I am looking of out my window. Across the fjord the midnight sun is shining just above the mountains. Breidablikk is perfect place to stay in Narvik. The staff is nice, the hotel is closityse to the city center (downhill) and university (uphill).
- melipower (8/5): Clean and friendly. - We found ourselves trapped in Narvik due to an avalanche. We were able to immediately book into this guesthouse. There is a lovely common area with free coffee and biscuits which would have lovely views over the fjord (unfortunately due to blizzard conditions we did not see this). We shared a family room with shared bathroom facilities. All was clean. The breakfast laid on was hearty and included in the price. The guesthouse is a 10 minute walk from the train station and is 5 minutes away from 2 shopping centres. I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation for a short stay in Narvik.
- Luckyphil202 (10/5): Aussie Adventurers Abroad - Our room was compact and spotless. Friendly staff. Well situated easy walk from train and bus stations, but is a fairly steep climb with luggage, and lots of snow. Breakfast was more than adequate. The town was far prettier than expected for a hematite (steel ore) Port. Would stay here again.
- Ross_and_Sonya (8/5): Great view over Narvik - We stayed in the 4/6 person room AKA âthe big roomâ and it lived up to its name. With a double bed, 2 single beds, a pullout sofa and a small bathroom the room was more than adequate for 4 of us. The room benefited from a small living room with great views over the city. The guesthouse has a rating of 8 on some of the larger booking sites and thatâs about right, but some small things could make easily make it a 9 or more. For instance, the curtains are an exact fit and didnât quite close, the old front door which is in the room (itâs an extended house) could benefit with a curtain to block out the street lights and the light in the hallway couldnât be turned off. When adding all of these together the room was unacceptably light at night. Breakfast is included in the room rate and although simple was adequate. Apart from some small niggles a great guesthouse in walking distance of all the main sights, the airport bus and the train station.
- AnneRostock1984 (10/5): Amazing view over Narvik, friendly staff - We stayed only for one night but we enjoyed the small, warm and cosy room with comfortable beds and a great view over Narvik, the sea and the mountains. The breakfast was simple but very good, we liked the coffee!
Thanks to the staff for interesting chats and helpful advice...
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice guesthouse with great views - Located on the hill above the centre of town, this comfortable guesthouse have great views of the harbour below and the surrounding mountains.
- Steve (8/5): Clean, comfortable, great food - The hotel is a cute place in a quiet location, and was very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff is professional, and the breakfast buffet is fantastic. The room was small, but I wasn't there to hang out in the room. My only complaint was with the thin walls, I could hear someone snoring in the next room, which drives me insane. The location is a bit of a tough walk uphill with a heavy bag, but only about 10 minutes from the train station.
- Colin (10/5): Very good service - Arrived at midnight keys and instructions all waiting for collection . Great breakfast.
- Faye (10/5): Fantastic night's sleep! - When you walk in for the first time, you think "This is an older hotel. I hope it isn't terrible." I was in Norway for 14 nights and stayed in 9 different hotels. The bed and pillow at Breidablikk Gjestehus were by far THE BEST! The breakfast was great with a terrific view and the service was outstanding. Well done, Breidablikk Gjestehus!
- John (10/5): Excellent place to stay. - Everything was of a high stardarf
- Louise (8/5): Comfortable stay in a good location. - The hotel is in a good location close to the centre of town, however it is a walk up a big hill to get to from the train station.
The staff were very helpful, even going out of their way to go to the shop to buy some medical supplies when my partner hit his head on the corner of the desk.
Our room was located right on the staircase so was a little noisy for people walking past and felt a little small for two people with two suitcases, but it was sufficient for our needs.
Delicious breakfast with plenty to choose from, served in a breakfast room with a beautiful view.
- Kevin (10/5): - Incredible location with an incredible view from the breakfast/dining room! Well furnished with a very homey feel. Very delicious breakfast as well.
- Geck Hong (10/5): Nice breakfast view, friendly and helpful staffs - The view at the breakfast place was mesmerizing. Can stay there the whole day and not get bored with it.
The hotel staffs are helpful. We had many luggages and they are kind enough to let us choose which rooms best suit our need. Even offer us an upgrade when a bigger room was made available due to last minute cancellation. Though we did not take it, the kind thought was much appreciated.
When made enquiry about some local activities, they were also very helpful. Helped us to call and even email to ask. Follow up for us again the next day. Highly recommend this hotel.
- Brian (8/5): Great Option for the Narvik Area - Stayed two nights in the guest house. While the rooms have been remodeled "mostly", it has a certain Scandic Spartan feel to it. I was just happy to be inside given it was -23 when I visited. Rooms are basic but nice. Bed was comfortable but came with the standard nordic: fitted sheet, comforter and pillows (no top sheet). More of a preference than a necesity but I always like a top sheet. The lay out is a bit of an upside down pineapple and at some point they must have switched the guest house entrance because you enter on the top and walk down stairs to get to the rooms with the first floor the third floor, the second floor two floors down from reception, and the first floor the third level down. No big issue, just odd. The big hit and what is on the photos advertising the place is the eating area which is on the ground floor which probably used to be the fourth floor. The dining / eating area has a nice view over the city and adjacent harbor (fjord). The town is picture perfect, surround by surreal mountains and the fjord.
Breakfast was excellent one morning and okay the other morning. I think it depends on the lady who is at the front desk who doubles as chef. The last day was nice with fried eggs, ham and scandanivan goodies (fish and cheeses). The place overall has a good feel and is quiet (at least when i was there). Keep in mind you are an 1.20 hour drive away from Evenes Airport.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Very good - Very comfortable stay. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was very good. Would stay there again.
- michael (2/5): very small bed and room.
- very small bed and room. Very simple and crude bathing suppliment. no parking lot.
Only good is window view to see harbor but other hotel has the same view.
- Christopher (8/5): enjoyed it - recommended - great location near the train station. fantastic views. good breakfast. comfortable beds.
