- Sandra Rudinara (10/5): Lugar aconchegante.
- Subhodeep (9/5): -
- Bogdan (10/5): Wonderful stay in Selçuk - Cosy and extremely clean. Breakfast was amazing.
- Matthew (8/5): Great location, friendly hosts, quiet and charming neighborhood. - Great location. Walkable neighborhood, quiet. Very friendly hosts. Thanks, Bugra Can and Esma, for the kind hospitality!
- axel (9/5): -
- Madeleine (9/5): It was a very lovely & cozy stay. - The room was spacious & clean. Beautifully decorated & had all the things needed. Breakfast was sumptuous too. Location was convenient to get food & near the supermarkets. Owner of hotel was friendly and able to give helpful info about places we wanted to visit. There was nothing much that I didn’t like.
- Ralph (10/5): Az volt, amire számítottam! - A vendégszeretet!
- Pavel (10/5): -
- Wexler (7/5): A good stay disrupted by a yappy dog - A great location and a friendly and helpful host, There was one problem that disrupted our stay: A yappy dog barking in the middle of the night woke us up twice.
A reviewer mentioned this on Tripadvisor and I just waived it off as something that "happened in the past" and wouldn't bother us. But sure enough, the neighbor's dog with its very loud and shrill bark disrupted our sleep twice (and we travel with a white noise generator to mask noise).
I don't know how the host can fix the problem as it's not their dog, but the room where we stayed that was adjacent to what would normally be a very quiet street was a problem. Perhaps a different room would not have this problem.
Note: The barking happened on the second night of our stay and we left very early in the morning, so I was not able to bring this up with the owner.
- Maryna (10/5): -
- Heidi (5/5): It was just ok. - The location was great and we were able to walk to the temple of Artemis. The breakfast was nice The air conditioner started leaking water on the bed in the middle of the night. Dogs barking for hours. We asked for a plug bc their wall plugs were too deeply set for our phone plus and they didn’t have any. The hotel is quite pricey for what you get
- Carrie (8/5): Sweet two day stay at this small, clean hotel run by a very endearing and informative family. - Comfortable small hotel with very nice, english speaking owners ( including their smart kids). Breakfast was good, and they accommodated us in a small dining area when the weather turned. Owners run a travel tour company as well, and gave good advice. Easy to park our car on the street. Ephesus museum a close walk nearby. All good! Again- need to walk up some stairs. Not much.
- Clive (9/5): Great place to stay, in the old part of town, hosts were very good. - Breakfast was very good, as well as the location. Barking dogs in the street kept me up for a few hours one night.
- christine (10/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Very good stay. - Basically everything. The owner was extremely helpful.
Great locations, handy to everything. No issues
- Varghese (10/5): - A nice family run hotel, close to all the historical sites in Ephesus. A host who makes you feel at home and doubles up as a very knowledgeable guide. We just sat back and enjoyed the site seeing in Ephesus and then to Pamukkale with a drop of at Denizli airport. Thank you Bugra Can for the memories.
- Leslie (10/5): - El ambiente familiar y la calidez con que atienden. Su dedicación a hacer que la experiencia sea memorable.
- Rachel (10/5): Excellent gem of a place - This place is a real gem. Bugra, the owner is very nice, knowledgable and helpful - in fact he can’t do enough for you. He has a lovely family too. Highly recommend this place for a stay in Selcuk. Nothing
- janet (8/5): A quick, but great visit to the ruins with a nice stay at Mary’sHouse. - We had a late night arrival, and the proprietor and his wife greeted us with tea and an explanation of how to tour Ephesus on our own the next morning. The location was excellent.
Through the hotel transportation was arranged. The driver was very friendly and told us how to get in touch with him for pickup. He took us to the Basilica, near the property, but showed us how to walk back to the hotel for luggage pickup. He arrived promptly to take us to the airport.
- Ilaria (9/5): Soggiorno piacevole - Hotel pulitissimo e molto curato.
Stanza quadrupla grande. Staff gentilissimo.
Colazione buona.
Zona molto tranquilla. Parcheggio non disponihibile, ma si può parcheggiare tranquillamente su strada pubblica.
- STEPHEN (8/5): - Great location
- Bulent (8/5): This was a stop over for our family and we were very impressed with the hotel. - Excellent hotel , nice location. Nothing
- MARCO (10/5): -
- Hafizur (10/5): - Even though the size of the family room is not big enough for four guests, but the host is very nice and taken care all issues. Homemade breakfast is excellent and we will stay in this hotel again in the future.
- Francesco (10/5): - Struttura a conduzione familiare tenuta con massima cura.
Massima disponibilità dei proprietari.
Consigliatissimo!!! -
- Chi On (9/5): - The owner is nice and helpful. The location is close to major scenes. The air-conditioner is not cool enough for such a hot summer.
- Dan (10/5): Beautiful and restful respite after a day in Ephesus - Strikingly, beautiful, and well kept. Beautiful woodwork on the doors, framework and ceilings. Beautiful colors and pottery with a lovely garden and eating area. Caretaker’s family was kind and engaging with helpful tips and little extra extras during our whole stay.
- Akshay (9/5): Great stay in such a fascinating city, thank you so much! - The check in was smooth, ample parking outside, and lovely hosts. The second beds were slightly uncomfortable.
- Melaku (10/5): - Mr. Can and the entire staff welcomed us with open hands and open hearts. Their hospitality was genuine and warm from the very beginning.
Mr. Can’s deep knowledge of Ephesus, Asia Minor, and the biblical and medieval history of the region added so much depth to our experience. He took time to share his insights freely and passionately, going above and beyond what we expected.
We are truly grateful for his kindness, generosity, and dedication. This was not just a stay—it was a memorable and enriching experience. Highly recommended!
- sharronh393 (10/5): A delightful stay at this family run hotel in the heart of Selcuk. - We had a fabulous stay at Hotel Mary's House. The room was spotless, and the shower worked very well, with good water pressure. The staff were very accommodating when the hairdryer didn't work; they immediately replaced it. The breakfast was satisfactory, and they adjusted the breakfast for my diet (vegan). The owners and their children were delightful and informative about what to see in Selcuk and the surrounding areas.
- Saeed (10/5): - Nice and traditional
Near to main museum and food area
- Heper (9/5): Great thank you to Buğra and his wife for the great stay - Family owned and friendly

- Annette (8/5): Great location from which to explore st John’s and Ephesus. - Great location near St John’s plus shops and restaurants. Owner Buğra was very helpful and was our tour guide. Serge the cat was very affectionate. Pleasant inner courtyard. Room was very hot when we arrived and it took a long time to cool.

- Karen (10/5): Small family run hotel, great location, spotlessly clean, owner works very hard to make your stay perfect. - Beautiful family run hotel, lovely breakfast, and spotlessly clean.
Bugra, the owner, took us on two private tours directly from the hotel, one to Ephesus and other to Pamukkale. He is very personable and will take good care of you. The hotel is a short walk to great local restaurants.
Highly recommend! Nothing
- Bob (10/5): Enjoyable.wonderful location - Everything. Hotel manager greeted us and offered tea while checking in. Showed us to our rooms and explained about restaurants in the area and offered help with excursions.
All hotels should have management as nice as this.

The owners are extremely kind and knowledgeable of all the things to do, foods to try and activities. The breakfast is delicious, the rooms are beautiful, spacious and very clean and quiet. We did not want to leave! Nothing! Everything was perfect
- Sinan (2/5): Anlayışı müşteri memnuniyeti dışında - Otele geldiğimizde over book sebebiyle daha düşük seviyede başka otele yönlendirildik. Çok yanlış bir durum içinde kaldık. Kesinlikle tavsiye etmiyorum.

- Felipetex (9/5): Superb -
- Ivan (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful family-run hotel with a lovely courtyard and a warm, open and knowledgeable host/professional guide! Turkish breakfast is included, the beds are very comfy and the location close to everything in Selçuk. The dolmuş (minibus) station to Ephesus and Şirince is a max. 10 minutes walk, the train station (for Izmir or Denizli) 10-15 minutes walk, and the sites like the St. John’s Basilica, the fortress, the Isa Bey Mosque and Artemision are around the corner.
We took a private day tour with Buğra to Priene, Miletus and Didyma which was very informative and enjoyable. Thank you, Buğra, for sharing your knowledge, hospitality and life experiences with us! We enjoyed your company and hope we will meet again!
- Arunee (10/5): Bugra is a great host and a tour guide. - It is like home away from home. The set up is basic but clean. Bugra is woking with his wife and young families showing us around Ephesus, Sirince village and St Mary’s church. Bugra is very knowledgeable about the history not only in Izmir but general world history as well. The only thing is my parents are old and they had to walk up to the third floor. There is no lift.
- Ian (10/5): - We loved Mary's house and would stay here again for sure. Such a nice break here after a few days in busy Istanbul. Clean room with nice views, a quiet courtyard, great breakfast and walkable to nice restaurants and shops in town. We shared a room as a family of four and it was plenty big enough for us.
- Janice (9/5): Superb - Great location right in the middle of town yet very quiet. Very helpful owner. Good breakfast. All good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Sadece olumsuz tek bir şey söyleyebilirim. Sıcak su sürekli akmıyordu. Personel çok yardımseverdi. Odamız rahat ve tertemizdi. St. Jean bazilikasına ve kaleye 5 dk yürüme mesafesinde. Otoparkı yok ama otelin çevresindeki sokaklar müsaitti. Yoğun turizm sezonunda sorun olabilir.
- Irene (10/5): Exceptional - Charming little hotel, excellent location, walking distance to the town with so many options to eat. Room is big and we love the simple but dislicious breakfast. Burga the owner is fantastic, very helpful and offer private tours. Nothing, everything was 150%. Recommend this hotel to all.
- angeliqueF825 (10/5): La maison de Marie, super découverte - great place, a very nice family, they tend to your needs, you just have to ask. The husband is also a tour guide so he can give you tips or you can book tours with him.
The place is nicely renovated, you can easily park on the street, breakfast is awesome. Selcuk is a nice little town close to beaches, close to Ephesus with a nice little city center. Allez y !
- Wander08201197488 (4/5): Do get reassurances from hotel that neighbours dog wont bark all night - Appreciate that there are many excellent reviews but we had 2 standard rooms for 1 night where both showers didn't work properly - water exploding from pipe connecting shower head. A quick fix surely. Not the family owners fault but a dog in house opposite was barking from their roof top (a few metres from our room) throughout the night until 4am. Couldn't sleep. Surely owners who live in hotel could have asked their neighbours to deal with this. Great central location and could park car easily in street
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dee (10/5): Great stay at Hotel Mary's House - Bugra and his team were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. It is a very attractive building set around a lovely courtyard. The breakfast was excellent.Bugra gave us a very informative day's guiding round Ephesus and helpful dinner suggestions. Nothing

- Martin (7/5): Nice location, nice people , simple stay - Great location, nice people Lack of finishing in the property : no bedside lamp, shower head broken, no cupboard in the bathroom, miscellaneous tiles fixtures
- Michalkw (10/5): Wonderful location in the heart of Selcuk (family stay) - Breakfast was good and tasty, the room was spacious and clean, nothing was missing.
The staff and owner itself are very good, talkative and helpful people.
Always gave extra water, food, cleaning of the room etc. The only minor thing, one of the double beds in our bedroom had really hard mattress which would be great to improve.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional - Loved everything about this place! The owner greeted us as we arrived, and helped us with our suitcases. Hotel location is literally in the heart of the city, with St. John’s basilica being an easy 5 minute walk. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby for you to visit too. Breakfast is amazing as well. Rooms were gorgeous and clean, lots of beautiful hand carved and painted details. Would absolutely visit again! Got nothing to complain about!
- Dhamendra (10/5): One of the best hotels ever!!! - A wonderfully appointed family run hotel.
Please stay here if you want to see all the area has to offer. The owner is a tour guide and offers excellent tours at a very reasonable price! The rooms were excellent!!! It felt like staying with family the hospitality was unmatched.
- Amanda (7/5): Warm, simple and comfortable - The staff and ambience is amazing. Breakfast is also great The spare bed and doors of the bathroom creaked
- Jasmin (10/5): Very pleasant stay in Selcuk - Very cute hotel located in a quiet neighbourhood on the hillside of Selcuk. Just a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants, St John’s Basilica and the ruins of Artemis Temple. The rooms are decorated with beautiful tiles and wooden ceilings. The staff are exceptional—they’re very friendly and helpful, and greeted me with Turkish coffee after a long day out in Ephesus. Breakfast was abundant and tasty. If I really have to pick one thing, maybe the shower could be stronger.
- Ben (10/5): Brilliant!!! - Excellent +++++++++Really top marks! Check out a bit early.......
- Shahedh (9/5): Superb - Location of the Hotel is very proximity to many Tourist Attractions. The Hotel is very homely, clean, and run by a family who are polite and helpful. The Breakfast was simple and nice and well served in a beautiful place. We enjoyed our stay. Fine with everything.
- Stanley (8/5): Very good -
- Cristina (7/5): Good - Location is the best advantage of this property. The worst and poorest breakfast I had in Turkey. It was not a buffet, so they gave us what they wanted, no more than two pieces per person. I asked for both coffee and tea but they pretended not to hear. We got a half of an apple cut into slices for two people.
It is that type of location where the owner want to earn as much as possible by doing as little as possible for his customers.
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (10/5): Hotel Mary’s House provided all the essentials we wanted, and helped with logistics that alleviated much of my worries i - Hotel Mary’s House provided all the essentials we wanted, and helped with logistics that alleviated much of my worries in a foreign county. They had transportation so we didn’t have to rent a car, the best tour guide, clean rooms, laundry, a nice breakfast, and a great location for nice restaurants.
I highly recommend a private tour from Bugra, the owner. He knew all the tricks to make the heat manageable in Ephesus. His tour was so insightful and interesting for my history buff husband, my devout Catholic teen daughter, and even for my other “usually bored” teen daughter. He will ask what you want to see, but I would defer to his suggestions.
The location of Hotel Mary’s House was ideal, 2 minute walk to 5 local restaurants . We loved Amazon, super local, w tasty traditional appetizers and perfectly cooked beef dishes. If we had another night, next door was Kybele Gastro, which was rated #1 on TripAdvisor. While taking a walk, we came across 2 cute coffee houses 2-3 minutes away from Mary’s but we never needed them because there was a nice breakfast waiting for us each morning. Enjoyed it all, simple & charming.
- Arzu (10/5): Şahane bir otel - Konukseverlik, ilgi ve özellikle temizlik muhteşemdi. Teşekkür ederiz. Daha uzun konaklamalar icin tercih edecegiz.
- Kristen (10/5): Exceptional. Friendly. Comfortable. Convenient. We want to come back. - The breakfast was exceptional. Our host, Bugra made us feel like family. He was charming and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble. It is a charming and ideal location. We were sad to leave. We had no complaints at all
- Dae yeon hwang (10/5): very good - all of condition is very good.
- S7187RTelizabethc (10/5): Relaxing & memorable stay in Selcuk - We enjoyed a lovely stay here end of April 2024; Wonderful quiet location, walking distance to Ephesus Archeological Museum, Basilica of St John & remains of Artemis Temple. Boutique feel as it has many beautiful features; garden/courtyard where breakfast is served & local handmade features within the room. Gracious, welcoming & informative host & generous & delicious Turkish breakfast. Memorable stay & Highly Recommended.
- Belinda (10/5): A great place to stay and visit Ephesus - Lovely place, very friendly and helpful staff Nothing
- Conail (10/5): Exceptional - This is a delightful hotel in a lovely town. The hotel is family run and the host is very knowledgable and helpful.

- Hugh (10/5): Exceptional -
- 673jannai (10/5): Прекрасный Сельчук - Hello. I would like to recommend this hotel to everyone. He's wonderful at everything. The very polite and friendly owner Bura and his lovely children greeted us like family. Our company consisted only of girls, and Bura himself carried our suitcases to the room. They immediately settled us in, despite the fact that we arrived earlier. The rooms are spacious, clean and cozy. Each room has a sink in the national style, we were shaved and told where to go and what to see. I have always been interested in our business and mood. It was nice. The breakfasts at the hotel are excellent, fresh and very tasty. Cafes, restaurants, shops are located 100-200 meters from the hotel. But the most important thing is the Basilica of St. John and the Temple of Artemis, which are within walking distance. We fell in love with this hotel. And we will definitely come back here.
- Ashish (10/5): Great place to stay in Selçuk - Loved the family that owns and runs this cute hotel. It's in a perfect location to walk to lovely restaurants, interesting museums and the bus/train station. Bugra gave us very useful suggestions on visiting the many sites nearby. Everyone was very responsive and were happy to have us as their guests.
- davehR4394KM (10/5): Wonderful experience - Excellent information and knowledge of Turkey. Excellent hotel and breakfast. Location is perfect!
The owner is also a tour guide and has vans if you would like to book a tour.
I would recommend a few days in the area. Very peaceful with friendly villagers.
- Łukasz (10/5): It's really worth staying in this place. - This house is super clean! The host is extremely helpful. He speaks English very well and if you are not sure about something, he immediately calls his friends in another part of the city to check the reliability of information from the Internet. You can count on an exceptionally good breakfast. -
