Guest Reviews
- Christine (10/5): - I loved the furnishing with comfort and art. I felt so privileged to be surrounded by beauty, both indoors and out. And the hosts were welcoming and open. There was nothing that was a negative for us.
- Elisa (8/5): -
- Amir (10/5): -
- Ronit (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): What a hidden, delightful gem on the river. - Loved the beautiful grounds right on the river, beautiful plantings everywhere. The house was decorated in a Craftsman style, with exceptional bedrooms, baths, Sitting area, and kitchen. Breakfast was delicious. Host, Dan, aka “Bernie” was a delight and full of information about the area. Highly recommend staying at Paddler’s !
- Saori (6/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): -
- debra (9/5): Had a lovely girls trip with many warm fires. - It was very cozy and located right on the river. Appreciated that the fireplace was stacked and ready to light upon our arrival - and that there was firewood available for purchase.
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Jeff (8/5): -
- Antonina (8/5): - The house and the room were very cosy and comfortable. The place itself, located on the bank of a beautiful river on one side and along the train tracks on the other, has a lot of character. You may miss a turn to the little gravel lane if you come in the dark, but it is a retreat, after all, hidden away from the world:)
Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to meet the owners.
I only had one issue. Since the place is rather isolated and I have been driving all day, I really wished I had a way to get some food. I found tea and some bread but it would've been nice to have some hot food or at least an egg.
- Sharon (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Arnoud (10/5): -
- Dave (10/5): - Everything! Clean cozy plenty of room. Very friendly owners. Nothing
- Dave (10/5): Great hospitality, great conversations, - The beautifully detailed wood paneling, trim and cabinetry. It looks just as good as the pictures—maybe better! And the gardens! Oh my, the gardens. Would have loved to spend more time along the river. What an amazing body of water! We’re a little large for a queen-sized bed.
- Gina (10/5): - A lovely stay at Paddlers Lane Retreat. Room was cozy and had everything I needed. Close enough to food options but off the path so it was very quiet and serene.
Dan was a pleasure to chat with and very helpful with recommendations. If I pass through again, I'll definitely stay here.
- Jeanne (8/5): - It was a beautiful location but somewhat isolated and we lost internet and had trouble finding paddler’s creek.
There was a train track next to the property that passed all night and woke us several times.
It was more of an adventure than a vacation.we did go to Falling Water which was amazing but it was a lot further from Confluence than we realized.
- Chuck (10/5): Exceptional - Room, although small, was outstanding.
The kitchen and breakfast were wonderful.
- Rebecca (10/5): - It is well-run by friendly and accessible hosts, ready to see to your every need. It is set in a relaxing, natural location with a small river running by (and an occasional train). It is very close to Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob (Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes) as well as cycling and kayaking options. You should choose Paddler's Retreat for these reasons. Dining and shopping options are very limited.
- Mythily (10/5): - Dan and Robin are very thoughtful and caring hosts. The location was very close to falling waters. The place was extremely clean and we were allowed to cook in the kitchen.
The nearby town restaurants close early and you may want to take your own food for dinner. Breakfast is provided by the hosts.
Only negative is the sound of trains nearby.
- Diana (10/5): Sweet Retreat on the River - We thoroughly enjoyed our 42nd wedding anniversary trip. Love to explore new places for fly fishing, kayaking and biking! This works for all three!
Mustang picture is per Dan’s request.
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- david (10/5): - .
- Kara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Paddler's Lane Retreat. The atmosphere was relaxing and beautiful and our host Dan is a national treasure! He was so funny and helpful in helping us decide which local restaurants to try.
- Catherine (10/5): - The property was super clean, had all the amenities that we needed and had a beautiful view! The kitchen had all the utensils pots and pans and spices that we needed. We liked the trains driving by and waved to them as they passed.
- Jake (10/5): - Beautiful property and great place to stay for an extended weekend. Host is great.
- Nathanael (10/5): - We had such a wonderful stay at Dan and Robin's. The property is close to a beautiful river and in a beautiful setting. The bedroom is cozy and comfortable with more than enough space a bathroom attached. The living area can easily handle a large crowd and has all the comforts of home. Dan and Robin even had a Christmas tree set up in the living with lights and all! The hearth is wonderful, and Dan had the fireplace all set up with kindling, paper and wood. Just had to light it! Perfect for a romantic evening with my wife. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food for us. We highly recommend this property and plan to visit again. Soon, hopefully.
- Arran (10/5): Superb - Fantastic place, lovely and clean. Very special place
- Larry (10/5): Nice overnight stay - A last m minute booking on a drive thru in Confluence PA yielded a wonderful overnight stay. Our original booking of a room in the lodge became unavailable due to a plumbing issue. We were upgraded to the chalet which gave us more than enough room. This stay may produce a summer visit with more family members. The hosts really care about the property
- Jenifer (10/5): - The house was absolutely beautiful. Robin has thought of every touch and comfort. We felt totally at home and spoiled at the same time. The river and trains were soothing to the soul! We will return. Thanks to the hosts for all the special touches and attention to detail. It was all greatly appreciated!
- Andrew (10/5): - My wife described it perfectly as home away from home. When traveling with 5 kids, it is hard to find space that accommodates us all. This place did it. The snow, trains, and peaceful atmosphere will bring us back.
- Ed (10/5): in the woods - very nice- owner very friendly!
- Lawrence (10/5): Escape to nature with amenities! - Beautiful, extremely well appointed, cozy b & b by a beautiful river…very relaxing!
- Kami (10/5): - Very friendly bed & breakfast vibe in a lovely setting. Our queen-bedded room was small, but nicely arranged. The trains that go by are loud and more than a couple pass at night. Ear plugs are thoughtfully provided. The first night we had our windows open as the room was a bit warm. If you are sensitive to noise, it may be a struggle.
- Sharon (10/5): Short. -
- Tara (8/5): - Comfortable bed, great hosts, good breakfast, use of the kitchen and living room. On an active train root, but the hosts provided ear plugs. Wasn’t too bad. Only woke once.
- Daria (10/5): - What a lovely B&B! Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the surrounding on the river because we arrived in the evening and had to leave first thing in the morning.
Definitely a place we would like to visit again, this time for longer.
- Jennifer (10/5): A perfectly idyllic country stay and I wish I had longer to stay - Every detail in the property is positively charming. Beautiful finishes, pottery, artwork, so cozy & homey. The train is loud but it’s very clearly stated and visitors should not be surprised by it as they are full all the time in spite of it. I’m used to the train at home so it wasn’t a bother and ear plugs are provided.
- Simon (10/5): We had a wonderful stay. - Great location and beautifully clean Trains took some getting used to
- Angela (10/5): - Perfect place in between Falling Water and Kentuck Knob. We only stayed one night but it would be great for a weekend or week stay. The carpet on the walls were great for sound proofing as we never heard the train from inside the house even though the tracks are across the road.
- Donald (10/5): Great place! - Wonderful stay, great people, we couldn't have been happier!
- Kimberly (8/5): - Very clean and well maintained beautiful private property on the riverbank. Next to the train tracks but earplugs were provided and the loft was well insulated for the kiddos. Breakfast was good, coffee was good. Right next to the mid-Yough launch point for kayaking as well. Great experience!
- Kristopher (9/5): Superb - Beautiful out of the way property. But still close to town. Cycling friendly. Dan was a joy to have as a host
- Natalie (8/5): A comfortable and accomodating place to stay near local natural and architectural attractions. - Paddler's Lane is set on a lovely, spacious and green property alongside the Youghiogheny River. It was the perfect location to explore nearby national parks, trails and Frank Lloyd Wright locations. The hosts were friendly, helpful and approachable. It took us a while to get used to the close quarters with other guests.
- Simon (10/5): - Delightful nature of river and gardens along with great ability to self cater due to the excellent kitchen facilities Would definitely recommend it
- JOHN F (10/5): - Beautiful quiet well-developed riverside property with a delightful host
- Mariela (9/5): It was a great experience to stayed at a place so well managed and kept. - Location is great next to the river. Breakfast was basic but enough to get you started. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, except when the train is passing by...lol. The house is very confortable with a big kitchen and a small back deck where you can enjoy your cup of coffee or glass of wine and hear the sound of the river.
The owners, Robin and Dan, are wonderful people, very friendly and have created a little oasis in this part of the PA countryside. I highly recommend this place next time you visit the Laurel Highlands. I wished we would have had a bathroom inside the bedroom.
We ended up with a bathroom outside the bedroom
- Paul (10/5): - The property is beautiful and very peaceful . The home was very upscale and furnished with fine materials. Anything you could need was furnished along with additional perks.
- joseph (10/5): - Beautiful!
- Marrian (10/5): We loved out stay at Paddler’s Lane. Just a short drive into town for lunch. Breakfast was generous. - Beautiful home Nothing
- Barbara (10/5): - Dan & Robin made sure everyone felt welcome.
- Sorensen (9/5): Superb -
- Cheryl (9/5): Paddlers Inn offered a very unique accommodation in a truly lovely setting. - The breakfast was serve yourself with options available on the counter and in the fridge.
The kitchen was very well equipped and lovely with a view out to the grounds and river.
The decor everywhere in the house was exceptional and pottery mugs were some of the nicest I have seen.
The entire house was extremely clean. It would have been nice to have some bottled water or a jug of water and some glasses available in the room.
There were not many options locally to go out for dinner.
- Edward (8/5): Off the grid - Wonderful spot to kick back and enjoy the river. Trains passing by, nice spot.
- Daryl (9/5): Superb -
- Wendy (10/5): Very comfortable stay near Fallingwater - Lovely, comfortable house, close to Fallingwater (the reason for our trip). Although this is listed as a whole house, you are booking a B&B room. You share the large kitchen and sitting room with other guests. We had a great evening chatting with the people staying in the other rooms. Breakfast was set up for us to enjoy when it suited us. The trains pass very close by the property but didn't disturb us at night, thanks to the earplugs provided. If you are staying out of the main season, I'd advise bringing some food and drink with you, as there aren't many shops or restaurants/bars nearby.
- Brian (10/5): - Location great next to the river and walking trails. Next trip would include a river trip (put in upstream and take-out right at the house).
Please was very clean and kitchen had plenty of equipment and supplies for cooking.
- Anonymous (10/5): A wonderful experience all round! -
- Andrea (10/5): Off the beaten path - This B&B is in a lovely setting. I chose it for its location near Falling Water and Kentuck Knob. The owner/host was very helpful. Room was very quiet even though a freight train passes by during the night. Great breakfast. I would hilghly recommend.
- Sarah (10/5): We were visit g Falling Water and Paddlers was perfect we loved our stay. - The uniqueness and so homely Nothing to dislike at all
- Maureen (10/5): A perfect oasis, wish we'd booked for a longer stay to experience more of what the area has to offer - Robin and Dan were wonderful hosts and so welcoming on our arrival. We decided to stay here overnight as it's quite close to Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water" which we were visiting the next day. We met another lovely couple who were bicycle touring via the GAP bike trail through the area.
The accommodation is very comfortable and well set up for extended stays. The area and surrounds are quite magical, with the beautiful forest of the Ohiopyle State Park, and the Youghiogheny River running behind the property, and the cargo trains....a memorable experience!
- JOLYN (10/5): - Great property aside of the river! Nice accommodations and furnishings! Excellent hosts!
- Main (8/5): Great location. Close to what we wanted to do. Beautiful view. Grounds were well kept! - Location along the water was good. Lots of cobwebs
- Jeffrey (10/5): Lovely, secluded spot - Lovely place. Terrific host.
- Roxanne (10/5): Perfect stay on the GAP trail. - From the moment we pulled onto their country lane, the tranquility and hospitality was evident. Robin and Dan are gracious exceptional innkeepers.
- Audrey (10/5): - Very secluded and lovely getaway, tastefully decorated and superb construction in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Exquisite landscaping and attention to detail! The pride of ownership is apparent and proprietor Dan is very helpful with area restaurants and history of this unique place!
- Laurie (7/5): Pleasant and fine. - I thought the breakfast was sub-par. I expected more from a bed and breakfast, like eggs, and potatoes...a hot meal prepared. Instead, there were only bagels, toast, cereal and yogurt...more like a continental breakfast at a hotel. It would have been nice to have the owner, or someone in the kitchen in the am to put things out/away and show us what there was. Instead, we were on our own. Also, my husband is gluten free and nothing for him except yogurt, which he doesn't like. The fire pit was a great idea, but not really functional for us. It would have been nice to have a wood fire ready to go so we could light it and sit around the fire in the evening. There were no notes as to where the wood was, or any kindling. It would be nice to clear some of the trees around the riverbank so we could sit and look at the water and paddler's/fishers in the river. The house was beautiful and seemingly very clean, but then there were a lot of cobwebs around the house, particularly in the light above the kitchen table where you eat, but also in the corners throughout the house. Cobwebs took away from the house feeling clean. Maybe an exterminator to keep the bugs to a minimum would help.
- Virginia (10/5): - Nice property. Little hard to get to, but once there worth the effort.
- Donna (8/5): Lovely experience -
- Annette (10/5): - We liked that the property was out of the way. The owners are lovely and welcoming. Thorough in providing checking information, things to do in the area and surrounding area.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- dale (10/5): Not Disappointed - Passing through to see Fallingwater...wonderful place
- Klr17 (9/5): Isolated beauty - The location was amazing, Dan and Robin were available and responsive. We stayed just 2 nights and wished there was just a little more coffee for our short stay. It was such a delight to sit on the porch in the mornings and evenings. The area this time of year, May, was magnificent. Little traffic on the backroads with lots of beautiful vistas. Just a little more coffee! Sorry to harp on this, but a warm cup by the riverside...
- Xuanxiao (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): - Beautifully situated and appointed.
The owners went out of their way to make the stay pleasant
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): - A beautiful place to stay. You’re close to the river for kayaking, floating or fishing. For those looking for a bigger challenge, Ohiopyle park is nearby. Great hiking and biking trails. Dan was extremely helpful with tips about the area and a true delight just to chat with! Hope to make a return trip to this area. Loved every minute!
- Stephen (10/5): Friendly hosts in Robin and Dan and a really special place to stay. - A really special location next to the river in a beautiful glade. Lovely walks close to hand and a friendly town, Confluence, close by. The room was very comfortable and the dining room, kitchen and lounge were perfect for our needs.
- Chiapi (10/5): - The property is clean, well-maintained, and organized. It has a big livingroom and an open kitchen connected to the dining room. The back door leads to the back deck which is very convenient. The quality of the interior design in the house speaks how much the owners care about this property, including the furniture, wall coverings, cabinets, lighting.... My daughter and I enjoyed the space and had a great time here. The river is right next to the house which we can easily access and cast our fishing rods there. The yard is very beautiful too. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We love this place and will definitely come back again.
- Karl (8/5): Very good - Beautiful house in a spectacular location between the river and rail tracks. Well equipped, good breakfast.
- Yumeng (6/5): Pleasant - room is clean and cozy
decoration was nice
host is friendly the house is next to the train rail. the train passed by with big noise at late night say almost 11pm and 12am. the host did provide ear plugs but I’m a light sleeper. it still wakes me
for the room we stayed in, the restroom is not in the same room as the bedroom so you need to go out to the hallway which shared with 2 other rooms then to your own restroom. it’s close but still felt lack of privacy
the bed is a bit too soft for my back
- Dediann (9/5): Superb - Beautiful property, and I love that they are dog friendly. There are train tracks very, very close, so the noise from them was loud. I did not see the earplugs that were provided until I was leaving. I recommend adding information in the room.

- Barbra (6/5): - Stunning setting and really clean accommodations.
- Margaret (10/5): This property is a hidden gem. - This is our second stay here within 30 days. Robin and Dan make you feel right at home with a warm welcome and are very accommodating. The house is immaculate, our bedroom was cozy and the bed was comfortable. The family room has a great fireplace where we enjoyed a bottle of champagne. It is secluded where you can enjoy nature and removes the worries of the hustle and bustle of life. nothing
- Margaret (10/5): wonderful - Everything. it was a wonderful experience. Robin (the owner ) was so kind and made sure all of our needs were met. We will definitely be back. N.A.

- Debbi (10/5): Beautiful Place - Paddler’s Lane was the nicest place we stayed on our Laurel Highlands trip. Clean, great service from owners, beautiful grounds by the river and beautifully decorated inside. Unfortunately,we were only there for one night, but we plan to stay three nights next time. We’d like to see this place in all seasons.
- Deidre (10/5): - I liked how remote the property was. Dan was very friendly. House and property were very well maintained.
All the other guests were friendly and respectful.
Driveway is a little scary. Not sure what to do if another car was coming from the other direction.

- Gary (10/5): American Hideaway Splender - The Inn was splendid. The Inn Keeper was lovely.
Hotels.Com specified "breakfast included" which was not nor has been the case. Hotels.Com owes me $50!
- Fiona (10/5): - Wonderful house , we’ll be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful River-side stay - Great location—we rented the chalet, closest to the river. Enjoyed the view of the river from the deck, main room, fire pit behind the chalet and just above the river. Heard the train but it didn’t wake us (carpeted walls helped with sound-proofing). Fun to see both freight and passenger trains go by. Well-equipped kitchen so we could enjoy meals with that peaceful view. Rented bikes and rode from Confluence to Ohiopyle and back. Convenient location for visiting Falling Waters and Ohiopyle State Park.
Robin and Dan are wonderful hosts—even walked down in the rain to bring us headlamps when a thunderstorm moved through and knocked out the power one night!
- William (10/5): Ideal - An ideal nature spot to return to after days of sightseeing and hiking
