Guest Reviews
- Simon (4/5): - Reception took 20 minutes to check us in and then told us the restaurant was closed. Woke me up by phone to demand we come down stairs to pay a tourist tax. The need a bit of a lesson in customer service.
- Werner (6/5): - The hotel should not be operating yet, no restaurant in the area, limited takeaways.
Customers should be told upfront that the hotel is not fully functional.
Most disappoint experience.
- AZROY (10/5): - Peaceful because of the view. The bed is cozy and I can see fascinating view from my balcony.
- Yu (4/5): not worth for money & not suit to the rated - The room may be close for long period and not open air caused the room wet smell. The 3 of the pillows are smelly. Parking floor very dark... Not allow to walk at the beach. Exit of the hotel need to queue for custom check.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the most underrated hotel i have ever stayed
- Verified traveler (10/5): Thumbs Up - Value for money and Very enjoyable stay.
- Nur Diana (6/5): - Hotel is only 3yrs old and its not that maintained. Our first room's aircon was faulty, could not even be switched on. Toiletries was not topped up. At the corridor of the hotel rooms,
- Tan (8/5): Give it a try - amazing place /setup. Really hope place will be upkeep and maintain. Hope to be back soon.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cleanliness & Duty Free Outlets
- Tharmaraj (10/5): Worth staying in the Hotel - Me and my family had a wonderful time at the Forest City. Everyone liked the hotel and environment around the hotel. Had a nice sea view room overlooking Singapore. My rating for breakfast will be 7/10. The hotel is link to shopping center with duty free shops, restaurants, supermarket and many other stalls. More new stalls are opening soon.
The only disappointed moment was at swimming pool at about 11am the staff informed that every Tue & Thur the pool will be closed for maintenance. Usually such activity will be done either early morning or night and not at peak time where guests want to use the swimming pool. Hope hotel management could look into it.
- Hayatee (8/5): Family trip - We booked 4rooms for short vacay last week for 3 days 2 nights last week. The room that was given to us was indeed cosy and sea scenary is beautiful. The only minus point is that the bfast buffet catter more to Chinese guest. Even the shops & restraunt are more for chinise tourist. If there were more halal restaurant, the place will be superb. We need to have car to travel out for food.
- Mohamed Azman (10/5): My stay at Forest City - The best hotel in JB for me
- Ng (8/5): Celebration - Very friendly staff. Upgrade my stay on this special occasion.
- See Cheng (8/5): - Beautiful hotel nestled in lush greenery and tropical landscape. Lobby was huge and welcoming and checking in was smooth. The room was very spacious and comes with a balcony overlooking the sea The interior was tastefully designed and the bathroom was luxurious by local standards. The breakfast spread was good but somehow the quality and taste was lacking. The adjacent commercial street has a supermarket, duty free shop, souvenir shops, cafes and a few chinese restaurants. There is also a food street further down near the transportation hub serving mainly chinese and local cuisines. Overall a nice resort to stay if you are looking for a quiet staycation or getaway.
- B (6/5): - The entire area is built for the mass mainland Chinese population. The staff speak fluent Mandarin & Malay but very little English. With accommodation paid in advance, the Front desk demanded a deposit for extras but the card machine connection didn’t work (like many things), so I was reluctantly released and allowed to go to my room. The dinner buffet was of very poor quality. We ordered from the menu, the steak sandwich was stale, cold, and only a 2ml slither of meat inside. The restaurant staff reluctantly let me leave when their card machine also didn’t work. The security guards stand on the edge of the pool and stare at everyone in the pool. The person sitting in the life guard chair had phone in pocket, sun glasses on and in long pants - definitely not ready to save anyone! There were no lounge chairs around the pool and walking on grass is not allowed. There was nothing in the small minibar fridge or large minibar cupboard, not even a bottle opener. There was tea making facilities in a tray. The beds, pillows and linen were comfortable and of good quality. The room smelt of mould- very stale. The shiny frame around bathroom window into the bedroom, meant that it acted like a mirror against anyone in that half of the bathroom to those outside the bathroom - a severe privacy issue! The pathways, steps and door frames often had design or safely issues - the property is not built to an international hotel standard, but a very local Chinese level. Would not stay again.
- Noridah (6/5): - My room was knocked vigorously at 8am next day.
Abviously me still sleeping. We dont expect any room service at that awkward hour. Still thinking want to open the door or not, because im sure if nobody opens the door..the people will just walk off..
And to my horror, they open up my room using master key.. Luckily I've locked from inside.. They're hotel worker, asking us.. Received a call, to fix our room.
Nobody has reported anything. And we don't encounter any problems/damage inside our room.
Its really unpleasant and unnecessary action, the worker just opened the door using master key, without pressing door bell or phone call to make sure correct complaint.
Horrible. Communication breakdown among the staff and worker.
Most of their hotel workers not understand simple English and thats where trouble came from.
Annoying!
- Jie (10/5): - Hotel is good, food is not
- Kenny (8/5): 2019 Forest City Pheonix Hotel - Overall above average, location is decently far from town and amenties around is limiter.
- Eric (6/5): - Room was big and spacious, generally clean, looks classy but material didn't feel very high grade
- Verified traveler (8/5): Staycation - Although the hotel is pretty new, it fails on the maintenance. Peeling wallpapers, dirty corridors (dry leaves), chocked drains. It's a pity.
Room is spacious. Wi-Fi works fine. Not all the nearby shops are opened yet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing - Amazing stay. My third time here and surprisingly this hotel gets better as time goes by. Gagan from the restaurant team was exceptionally friendly. Thumbs up! The only Down about this hotel is the shopping alley beside the hotel. More shops need to be open.
- Shahrul Izwan (10/5): A tremendous experience staying in this hotel - We are highly satisfied with this hotel. The hospitality is very excellent. From checked-in, entering the room, welcoming complimentary snack until the moment we checked-out.. Everything is superb.
Keep continue to entertain your guest! Big thumbs up.. Definitely a place to return in near future 😊😁
- KS (8/5): - New and spacious room, with balcony. beach nearby and restaurants next to hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall a good stay - Overall a good stay. We transfered to a new room because the door lock is not working. Need improvement in outlets in the room as you can only use 1 out of 4 outlets. Staff service was excellent. I would like to commend aidil fr the front desk and Gagan fr f&b for the great service.
- Liew (6/5): - Nice viewing at the room and comfortable bed and all environments, the restaurant food is quite delicious and clean environment.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - My 2nd trip within 6 mths and I am still impressed with the services here and the fast developments around. Enjoyed the Xmas dinner at C&M restaurant but was a bit upset that the Skybar wasn’t open on Xmas night. The beds are still really too hard for comfort. Impressed with the service and housekeeping staffs!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful lanscape
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and brand new hotel. Typical chinese style with lots of bling and lights but quality of construction not really the best but that is not an issue now
- Steven (10/5): - Fantastic hotel
- Andrew (6/5): Nice hotel let down by dirty bedsheets - The bedsheets were unclean.
- Andrew (6/5): Room was good but the sheets unclean - The bedsheets were dirty. Not changed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel near to beach. Better if have more food outlets.
- Sangkaran (8/5): - i really very disappoint is swimming pool close under maintenance. I booking for this hotel want enjoy and relax at there, but swimming pool close. Next time need inform early to customer.
- Razullah (10/5): - Close to beach but cannot swim. Not much halal food. Need indoor playground for kids if its raining season
- Freda (10/5): - Nice hotel. Close to the beach. A city away from the city !!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Smelly room, else perfect - The hotel indeed looks very grand and very beautiful. The facility providerd are almost tip top. The beds are comfortable. Super big room. Good service that even gives us a birthday cake. But the smell really turned ppl off. We have 2 rooms. Both rooms are very smelly and discount the experience of the rooms, else it is a perfect stay. I don’t understand why. The beach sand is very coarse and can’t be used.
- Venus (10/5): - Staff service 👍, my kids very enjoy it !
High recommend to my friends
- YN (10/5): - It is a nice, modern & clean hotel. You will need a car to get to and out of this hotel & Forest City area. It is quite far from other attractions. Otherwise we have a very good & quiet getaway vacation in this hotel.
- Liana (10/5): - Very nice hotel with excellent service. My kids truly love it. The only issue i had was the cupboard made a weird buzzing sound and we notice a wire was about to trip from the inside. The cupboard was equip with electricity for the lighting. Hope maintainence can be done as we feel its abit scary esp with kids around. But hotel food was gd, accomodation was great. For that price def worth it! We would return for sure!!!
- othman (6/5): - good our hotel view near to the beach
if we need to coming again take 2 more year
no happy with the facilities
no so many shop for food
above our stay have karaoke very noise cannot sleep well at night.
very upset about this situation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Staycation - Excellent, shall go again and strongly recommend friends to try also. Already share with groups 👍👏😘
- Carolyn (10/5): Huge potential - Fabulous room and balcony, with gorgeous views over the straits. Not very much in the vicinity as yet, as this place is basically a construction site under progress. The few restaurants close fairly early and we were clearly unwelcome in one place we went into as it was close to 9pm. Ended up eating at the restaurant connected to the hotel. A bit disappointing. Got into trouble walking the beach the following morning. The security guard was preventing us from putting our feet in the water or even going near the water for reasons that we could not work out as his English was no good and our Bahasa was worse. Trying to find someone to translate did not work out, we just ended up being told we could not take any photos with the camera as it needed to be registered but we could continue taking photos with our cellphone!!! Spoke with reception staff on return, to try to figure it all out but it was clear they had no clues either and gave some other story about Muslim privacy hence no photos, when I explained I was allowed to continue with using my cellphone they just went quiet. However we were just looking for an overnight stay to explore this place and it met our needs.
- Chevelle (10/5): Nice and cosy hotel :) - Overall experience is good. Just that the hotel room can’t charge our handphones .. would appreciate if the switches in the room can be improved better
- PATRICK (8/5): Business Seminar - Spacious, comfortable, clean room, good view, amenities. Good breakfast. convenient shopping nearby. Grab drivers on standby to take you to nearby attractions.
- Kelvin Ming Chian (8/5): Good stay - Spacious and clean. Too bad beach is off limits for swimming.
- Tat Ying (4/5): isolated environment - no good
- KYTee (8/5): - Nice room but corridor very dark. When return to room at night scarily.
- ail (10/5): relaxing place - nice place to relax with ur partner or with family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome Stay - Love it. Definitely will return. Nice shopping place too and hope more shops will open soon. Just hope for breakfast more local food are served. Friendly staff at the reception counter. Smooth check-inn check-out.
- Goh (8/5): - Breakfast items not much of variety.
