Easy to get a tut tut or taxi to get about. Property in obvious need of maintenance, which manager had already mentioned was scheduled to be done. Busy road to walk on, hence we used tut tut.

• Caroline (10/5): Rekommenderas varmt! Kommer gärna tillbaka hit. - Jättefina stora och rymliga rum. Sköna sängar. Rent och snyggt. Personal som var mycket hjälpsamma och trevliga utan att tränga sig på. Lätt att hitta och nära till stranden. Frukosten som serverades varierade från dag till dag, men var alltid väldigt god. Man kunde även köpa fisk från lokala fiskare och få den tillagad till middag på hotellet, vilket var supertrevligt! Hotellets ägare fanns tillgänglig på whatsapp och kunde svara på frågor och hjälpa till med bokning av taxi.

• Piening (10/5): Aanrader! - Supervriendelijke medewerkers, mooie lokatie, in de badkamer heel veel extra artikelen zoals een tandenborstel met tandpasta, een naaisetje, een borstel etc. Het ontbijt was super. Ook kregen we een welkomsdrankje. Tegenover het hotel zit ook een heel leuk restaurant en een mooi strandje waar je de schildpadden kunt zien en kunt snorkelen. -

Изкарахме чудесна ваканция. Има много заведения за хранене в района и много плажове. Нищо. Само коментар, за да съм полезна. Не очаквах, че азиатците толкова често натискат клаксоните на улицата. Добре, че терасата беше остъклена, за да изолира шума. Бих посъветвала гостите да си изкарат международна шофьорска книжка и след това местна, за да сте максимално мобилни. Разбира се, може да ползвате тук-тук или такси от приложението pick me.
• Susan (8/5): Okay property that needs some attention - Great views from outside our room, nice big breakfast, daily cleaning of the room and the staff were nice. There were good restaurants nearby. The hotel needs an upgrade. Perhaps the jacuzzi tubs should be ripped out as they are cracked and permanently dirty. You can't swim at the beach across the street and have to take a taxi to a good beach.

• Fabien (4/5): Une belle annonce qui ne tient pas ses promesses - Personnel aux petits soins en permanence et d'une extrême gentillesse. Les photos sont limite mensongères.... disons qu'elles doivent dater de plus de 20 ans. L'hôtel n'est pas en bon état, les chambres sont décrépies et manquent de meubles. Salle de bain délabrée... pour accéder à la "grande piscine", il faut quitter l'hôtel pour se rendre à l'hôtel d'à côté. Quant à la vue mer... il faut aller dans le couloir pour l'avoir. Bref décevant.

• Pauline (8/5): Prima plek met lekker bedden voor een mooie prijs. - Lekker dichtbij het strand en het bed ligt heerlijk. Helaas hoorde we pas de laatste ochtend dat we gebruik konden maken van een mooi zwembad bij het Hotel erachter. Het ontbijt was zeer uitgebreid. Voot ons echt veel te veel. Wij hebben vanaf dag 2 maar 1 ontbijt gevraagd om te delen. Raad je verrassen. Personeel is heel erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk. De kok maakt van het ontbijt iets heel moois. 4x wat anders gehad. We begrepen dat je vis aan de overkant kan halen en dat het dan bereid wordt in het hotel. Omdat het niet zo gezellig is om daar te eten hebben we dat niet gedaan. Je kan met ongeveer 8 knoppen de verlichting geEllig maken. Het Hotel is echt aan verbetering toe. Met het douchen is echt de hele badkamer nat. Een trekker zou mooi zijn. Het hotel heeft helaas niets gezelligs. Heeft enorme ruimtes waar niets gebeurd en mist gezelligheid en leuke aankleding. We begrepen dat ze alles willen gaan renoveren en dat is zeker nodig.
• Ros (4/5): More like a hostel than a hotel - Room was large so good if you have kids, bed clean and comfortable, good a/c. Staff pleasant and accommodated our request to cancel one night. Hotel does not look like their pictures - there is no balcony. They have had pictures ‘doctored’ and (I believe) paid for reviews. The eating area downstairs is depressing and the location looks over a busy road. It’s noisy and not worth $70 per night. Don’t be fooled by the high star rating for this place - we wanted to leave as soon as we arrived.

If there is any criticism more tables & chairs on the communal balconies I wider range for breakfast (more of a buffet style). though it was OK it could be better

• Veraalbiez (9/5): Great service and a comfortable stay - The staff are very nice and service oriented people. They are always smiling and have a positive attitude. Hashan let me store luggage a day before check-in and organized a car to Negombo on our last day. The room was spacious and clean, equipped with AC, fan and a fridge. The wifi in the lobby/restaurants is strong if you need to get some work done. However in the rooms they use a different wifi which wasn't really reliable. The view from the balcony to the sea is beautiful. The wifi in the room wasn't good, but the one in the restaurant/lobby was very strong. The way the bathroom was built is inconvenient because the water from the shower runs across the entire room to the drainage behind the toilet, so most of the floor gets wet when you shower.

• Nadine (9/5): Superb - I had a huge room with an extremely comfortable bed. In some areas, the hotel could use a renovation. But for the price, it’s definitely a good choice. The sunset from the rooftop terrace is especially beautiful. I also highly recommend having dinner there with fresh fish - it was excellent and one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had. On the downside, the location isn’t ideal. If you don’t have a motorized vehicle, you have to walk quite a bit to get anywhere. The nearest beach, Secret Beach, is very beautiful and about an 8-minute walk away. Ahangama is around a 20-minute walk. However, if you have a scooter, you’re all set.

The property manager Hasan is an amazing human and he personally guided us about attractions nearby Ahangama/Weligama and also to our journey to Hiriketiya and even beyond. Also the property is located at an amazing locations with unobstructed view of the entire sea and close proximity to multiple food options. Would highly recommend. There was nothing much to dislike in particular, but if I have to nitpick, the wifi can be patchy at times. Please note it was fine for casual browsing and net surfing, however since I was working remotely with lot of time spent on video calls, it was a bit of challenge for me.

Neglected huge building with barely no people, seems it used to be a good hotel in the past but now it’s in a bad state. No restaurant, no swimming pool (they exist but nobody uses them because of their actual state).

Between Ahangama and Midigama. Hashan helped us choose fish for really good price right in front of the hotel and they cooked it for us with a nice salad. It has a nice relaxed beach just in front. Don’t forget to go up to the rooftop, it has amazing views of the sunsets

• Tanushree (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional service! What makes this hotel best in Ahangama is it's Staff first of all. The staff is extremely cooperative, courteous and understanding. They are very helpful people. The rooms itself are huge with 2 beds where minimum 4 people can sleep. The hotel is right infront of the beach. You can watch the sunrise and sunset from the hotel itself. Even more better part is it's rooftop area where breakfast is served every morning, the views are to die for. The best sunrise and sunset is what you get to experience from their rooftop. I would love to be back here again. The breakfast served was also amazing with a wide variety. Loved every bit of the stay here.

This has nothing to do with current staff, but the rooms and shared hallways, stairwells etc. need to be painted and free from mould. The view is fabulous and therefore, the glass and windows should be well maintained to maximise the natural beauty of the views.

• Zaid (10/5): Hashan - Great Host, a Brother - Hashan is a great host. His hospitality and friendliness made our stay at Sanmark a memorable one. The hotel is very fairly priced. And the views you get of the ocean from the hotel are insane. My wife and I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets ever from this hotel. The hotel is a bit dated. However, it is very clean and Hashan's staff were very helpful in ensuring our stay was comfortable.

Hashan, a very good man, offered to rent a scooter and a car for a very good price, arranged for a driver to take me to the airport. I recommend staying at this hotel, I will visit in the future. everything was fine.

• Matan (8/5): Great stay for families, amazing staff - Most amazing staff, they help you with anything all the time. Rooms were nice with a good bed and shower, view is also great Location isn't good unless you have a motorbike so just get a bike
• Shay (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel has a beutiful lagoon infront of it. The rooftop is used for dinning and sunset views. I was travelling with a scooter to all of the anhagama surfing spots on a daily basis. The hotel is in the middle between kabalana and medigama and all surfing spots are close with scooter or a tuktuk. The hotel is managed by hashan who patiantly took care of everything for me, from the taxi from colombo and all. The stuff are 100% service oriented, i had an absolute awsome stay at hotel sanmark Not a thing
