Guest Reviews
- Caitlin (10/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Christina (10/5): - We loved our time at the Lindenwood Inn- it was truly an oasis in a beautiful hidden gem village that is Southwest Harbor. Jim, Beth, Manuel and the rest of the team exceeded our expectations and made us feel right at home. Whether it was the delicious breakfast, the relaxing pool and hot tub, or the generous hospitality, we can’t wait to visit this little corner of paradise soon!
- Ted (8/5): -
- Julie (8/5): The building itself is quite beautiful and comfortable, unfortunately we would not stay again as it did not have local c - Beautiful property, great location. Very clean and comfortable. For a bed and breakfast I expected good food. The food was not good. Plain pancakes,no butter or syrup. Cooked blueberries on side with basic breakfast sausage. No mimosa, nothing special at all. For the price it was very disappointing. We took a few bites and left to have breakfast at another inn down the road.
- Susan (9/5): -
- Robin (10/5): Can’t say enough about this property and our stay! To sum it up in a few words…. You’re missing out if you don’t stay he - Everything! Nothing! Everything was excellent!
- Lauren (10/5): -
- Ronald (8/5): -
- Nicki (10/5): This stay surpassed my expectations. It was truly amazing. - The people, location, and amenities were all amazing! Nothing
- Deborah (9/5): Great location and welcoming bed and breakfast. - Location, staff and the breakfast. The bed was not the most comfortable.
- Katie (6/5): - Goodish location if you have a car. 1/2 hr from cadillac mountain or bar harbour Needs updating. Not enough power sockets. Asked the lady who checked us in about the island explorer and where to catch it and she was u helpful.
- Kristin (8/5): Beautiful home with delicious breakfast in a quiet area outside of Acadia. - The house is beautiful, with unique decor and nice amenities such as a small library with games and a fireplace. There is a small honor bar. The breakfast, served 8-9:30am, was fruit and granola with a different hot breakfast each morning freshly cooked. The breakfast room is lovely and breakfast was delicious. There is only a partial ocean view because there are two properties between the house and annex and the waterfront. There is a main house and a smaller house next door. We were in a small room with a king bed in the Rose Annex. Our ‘balcony’ was actually a small porch that looked onto the building behind the annex, and the water could be seen to the side of the building. It would be nice to have a coffee maker in the room, but I’m not sure where they would put it because the room is very small.
- Joanna (9/5): Great say and would recommend - Lovely Inn with breakfast included. Very nice and helpful staff. There is a bar where you can make your own drinks and then write it down and pay on your overall bill. The breakfast was good, I only wish that the hot food was a larger portion size. We wanted to fill up before going hiking in Acadia.
- Dave (8/5): Ok experience - Breakfast ok. No attention to detail as in other B&B
Mattress could hear springs
- Wendy (7/5): -
- Joel (10/5): - Very clean
- Caitlin Bissen (10/5): Exceptional - Everyone and everything were wonderful. We had a perfect time.
- John K (8/5): Lindenwood Inn is a good place to stay. - The room had everything we needed, 2 chairs and places to put our luggage. The breakfast was FABULOUS!!! The room was small and off to the side of the Inn in another building. The mattress was so-so,
- Jaclyn (5/5): Quaint but would not stay again. - The staff were very friendly It is overpriced for what you are getting. The bathroom has no vent and it is almost impossible to open the very old rickety window to get some fresh air in the bathroom after taking a shower…
The bed is stiff as a board.
The breakfast was nothing special.
The bar - we tried to take a glass of wine and both bottles went funky.
The location, while we knew this was the “quiet side” there really is not many options at all to grab a late night drink or some food.
- valerie (9/5): -
- william (8/5): - The decor, the house architecture, the hot tub, the location. The bed was uncomfortable. The coffee was weak.
- Kevin (6/5): Wonderful area but will stay elsewhere next time. - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was great. Room was smaller than expected. Too much furniture for the space. Breakfast was ok but showed little imagination. Spreading blueberries on a baguette is not exciting. The weather and time of year made up for the shortcomings.
- Maura (10/5): - Excellent staff very helpful
Lovely breakfast
Comfortable bed Nothing
- Nigel (7/5): Friendly stay in Bar Harbor - Location
- Christoph (10/5): -
- Luca (10/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): Staying at the inn was a bit an indulgence, but the experience was worth every penny. - I loved how pretty, comfortable, and friendly the inn is, from the moment that you pull in off the street! Manuel greeted us very warmly and gave us a quick tour before showing us to our room and helping us with our luggage. We really enjoyed the decor of our room and of the dining area, and the bed and bedding was super comfy! While we didn’t take advantage of the pool and hot tub, the outdoor space was lovely. Finally, the peacefulness of Southwest Harbor compared to the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor was perfect for us.
- audrey (9/5): Séjour parfait! - Très bon accueil de Manuel. Lieu parfait, petit déjeuner très bon. Je recommande vivement! Rien
- Hyman (10/5): Great stay on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island! - Great location. Close to shops in Southwest Harbor and able to walk to Beal’s Lobster Pier for dinner. Very quiet area and we enjoyed the hot tub on a cool morning. We also loved the little porch off of our room to sit outside and watch the sailboats go by. We were in the annex building and there was no way to make coffee or tea in the room but it was available in the main building so no big deal. Everything else was great.
- David (10/5): -
- Nena Powell (10/5): See above! - Lindenwood Inn is a most exceptional property with lovely thought in design, decor, comfort, unique space, truly exceptional with fabulous views of Southwest Harbor and great restaurants very close!! Flowers were gorgeous August 13, 2025!!
- Erin (10/5): Peaceful, Private & Perfect! - We came to Southwest Harbor for our 20th anniversary and wanted to see Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park but also heard Bar Harbor is very busy in the Summer, so opted for the quieter Southwest Harbor area. Lindenwood Inn is as peaceful and perfect as other reviews had described. The town is much smaller and quieter (by far) than Bar Harbor, but you are only 30 mins away by car, so easy to take trips back and forth. The staff was fabulous and we rented the top floor/penthouse -- room 7, and it's worth the splurge. We enjoyed breakfast in our room daily, privacy, a lovely top floor deck/balcony with comfortable loungers, hot tub and peacefulness. The decor is lovely and yes as others have said the room is quirky but very comfortable and more space than you need. The shower & bathroom is fabulous and the bed is comfy. You have a seating area, mini living room space, desk area with wifi, and kitchen space. No complaints at all. It's easy to get around--we walked down to Beals Lobster Pier--a definite must! Also did a boat tour that was a short 2 min drive to town, and of course explored Bar Harbor several times as well, but always so nice to come back to our peaceful room. The guests are all respectful and quiet--and Manuel, is always happy to go above and beyond. On the day we left, we had a 12 hour drive back home, and he saw us the night before and insisted that he make us breakfast for the road, which we told him was not necessary at all, but he made us fruit salad, yogurt, granola & some muffins/pastries with to go cups and spoons for the road and had them in the common area fridge for us to grab in the morning, which was such a nice touch for our early leave. Lindenwood Inn lives up to its reviews and location. Don't keep scrolling & just book this B&B now. Will definitely return-this was the relaxation and peaceful trip we hoped it would be for our anniversary.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Michael (9/5): We had a wonderful time at the Lindenwood Inn, and my only regret was that we didn't stay longer. - Lindenwood Inn is a beautiful location and property. We stayed in theRosebrook House and both of our rooms were excellent. Also, we went swimming in the pool and the hot tub, and they were both wonderful. Finally, the breakfast served at the Inn was excellent. The price for our two rooms was a bit much -- however, I understand that we were there in the peak season and prices were inflated just about everywhere.
- Bill (10/5): Very comfortable - The breakfasts were wonderful and the location was in walking distance to nice restaurants.
Also the heated pool was fantastic. Not many tv channels to choose from
- Snyder (10/5): Exceptional - The people! Everyone there were so helpful! Manuel helped with a flat tire and volunteered his own vehicle so we could go out to dinner.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gareth (10/5): A quality inn, great location with great, friendly, helpful staff - Quality inn, great location, great staff Nothing to dislike
- Kristin (10/5): Fabulous - This is an outstanding inn, worthy of recognition for its location, beautiful decor, warm hospitality, and wonderful breakfasts. There are many lovely sitting rooms to relax with a book, drink or coffee. The hot tub and pool are so inviting and relaxing after a day's excursion to Acadia National Park -- a 15 minute drive from the inn and the bustling, crowded tourist town of beautiful Bar Harbor with its multitude of parking restrictions and scarcity. There is a wonderful restaurant, Red Sky, within walking distance that is an outstanding dinner place. Reservation can be had, but should be made in advance. I really can't imagine anything I would do to improve this experience. I am very surprised that this placed is rated as a two star establishment. It makes me wonder how this rating is determined and whether it should ever be trusted.
- William (3/5): Very Disappointed will not be staying at this place again. - Location was quiet and remote. WHERE DO I START?
1. Our room was very small on the second floor in another building not attached to the main building there was not enough parking at our building, and we had to park at the main building.
2. The electrical receptacles were not up to code in the room they were old 2 prong receptacles and there was extension cords plugged into them for the tv and lamps in the room. The TV was a small 19 inch portable.
3. There was only one ice machine located in the Main building at the small bar the ice was free but the second day the machine was almost empty.
4. The bar was self-serve and very expensive they wanted $4.50 for a can of soda we did not purchase anything from the bar.
5. The breakfast was fair they served us eggs, sausage and pancakes the first morning we chose not to get a breakfast the second morning. You had to self-serve for coffee, juice, fruit and muffins.
- Randal (9/5): Nice Bed and Breakfast in the quiet community of Southwest Harbor. - This is a very nice bed and breakfast within walking distance of the restaurants and shops in Southwest Harbor. There are 2 houses in the B and B. We were in the smaller house next to the main inn. There is a nice living room with a fireplace. The bed was comfortable. We could see the harbor from the room. The city dock is a short walk away. Southwest Harbor is much quieter than Bar Harbor. It is very walkable. The breakfasts were good, but I didn't understand the mushroom sauce on the Eggs Benedict. I would have preferred the more traditional hollandaise sauce.
- Robin (9/5): Quiet luxury away from the Bar Harbor crowds - Quiet location but still can walk to town and restaurants. Water view is obscured, but still nice. Great communal space, delicious breakfasts, honor bar, wonderful staff. Excellent hiking trails nearby. Queen bed was a little soft, room was a little small
- Donna (10/5): Exceeded expectations. - Wonderful property . Excellent staff. Very friendly Excellent breakfast . Very attentive but not intrusive. Nothing
- Forcier (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Very peaceful and quite place with exquisite decors in the room. And they even gave us free local apples called “gala” at the front dest!😊
- May (8/5): Enjoyed our stay - Beautifully decorated, cozy, excellent breakfast with savory or sweet choices, hot tub, friendly staff Our room was in the adjacent building, it would have been nicer to have stayed in the main house. Not a deal breaker because the owner clearly put a lot of love in the inn but there were cracks on the walls and the shower curtain could use a cleaning. The electric fireplace was not working. The staff said someone would work on it but no follow up during our stay.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): Very good -

- Fallavollita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Wonderful base for exploring Mt. Desert Island. - Staff was great, always pleasant and helpful. Access to a hot tub after a long day on the trails is a real plus. Ambience and decor are first class.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynn (10/5): We enjoyed the evening spent at Lindenwood. - The property was quaint and beautiful. The hot tub temperature was excellent and the pool was long enough for eight strokes/lap. Breakfast was delicious and attractively presented. There were fun paths between the buildings and restaurants were in a walkable proximity.
- Ingrid (10/5): Fantastic place to stay! - Good quiet location to explore Acadia national park. Walk to restaurants and downtown Southwest Harbor. Great pool and hot tub. Breakfasts are excellent!
- Meg (9/5): Superb -
- Lauren (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (10/5): Great location, comfortable and classy inn. Easy walk to town and ferry. - Beautifully appointed, eclectic decor, cozy and comfortable porch at the main Inn. Love the vibe at the pool and hot tub. Private, tranquil and comfortable. Excellent complimentary full breakfast each morning. Food was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The Rose Cottage annex could use similar exterior look and feel on porches and grounds. It almost seemed like a separate property.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (8/5): Charming b/b in a great area - Quaint, location, excellent breakfasts Small spaces
- Lisa (10/5): This was our favorite stay along out vacation, and we would love to stay here again in the future. - Excellent attention to detail
- Barbara (6/5): Pictures are better than reality - Porch was pretty Bathroom was very shabby, lot of chipped and dingy walls. No shower curtain, only a liner. The pictures show fresh flowers in the room but none were there. The tv was extremely small. No closet, only a small rod hanging over a built in dresser, so clothing would cover whatever is there. No coffee or fridge in room. Coffee available in the common area was room temperature at 630am.
- Joanna (10/5): Definitely would go back. - Staff, location, breakfast, amenities and room were exceptional! The staff made the stay memorable. They were always happy, pleasant and seemed to enjoy their work.
- Pangaro (10/5): Lindenwood has a relaxing environment and is professionally run! - Everything from seating, quality and choice of food, poise and tone of the wait staff---all perfect! We felt relaxed, never rushed. Our room and the common areas are beautifully designed with attention to details such as bedding, linens, the quality of shower, etc... N/A
- Scott (10/5): Excellent time in the greater Bar Harbor area. - The custom breakfasts each day were fantastic. We liked hanging out by the pool and hot tub. Good restaurants were within walking distance.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Fantastic, end of story! - Everything was excellent! Staff are fantastic and attentive. Met the Inn owner and the Inn manager, both lovely people. Nothing at all!
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (9/5): The breakfast was the best of everything. So yummy and the staff was great. Would def come back! - Loved the location and its was decorated beautifully. Loved the pool and jacuzzi. Its an old house and is a little noisy but its to be expected.

- Stephen (10/5): We wish we would have stayed longer. - There are so many things to like/love about this property.
The location is set with access and a fabulous view to Southwest Harbor. The grounds are beautifully maintained.
When you enter the inn, prepare yourself for a feast for your senses. The decor is a blend of Maine coastal and international elegance. Accented with the scent of freshly cut flowers, you are sure to be charmed. The owners Jim and Milan are extremely gracious, friendly and helpful as are the staff. They are anxious to make your stay an unforgettably pleasant experience.

I like everything and could not find a complaint if I tried...other than I wish I could have stayed longer. Note: I left a much longer review along with several pictures of my stay on Google reviews.
