Guest Reviews
- Mrsvark (2/5): Closed - This is not a negative review, we can’t give this accommodation a review because we never got the opportunity to stay here. We arrived on Monday December 8th, knocked on the door but nobody answered, someone passing informed us that Gilles the owner has sadly passed away after a very short illness and the riad has been closed down.
Please note we were not informed by Hotels.com / Expedia that this place was closed prior to arrival, if you have a booking contact your booking agent and cancel.
- tinaNtravel (10/5): LIke a home - We stayed in two Riad’s in Marrakesh and Riad Abaca Badra felt more like a home, whereas the other felt more like a hotel. The owner of the Riad Abaca Badra greets you when you arrive, sits you down and explains how Marrakesh “works” along with the highlights worth seeing. The owner is quite nice (originally from France) and has a dry sense of humor. There is an open garden in the middle of the Riad where breakfast and dinner (if you order it in advance) is served. You eat on one large table, again, like a home. Our room was large – larger than most hotel rooms in the US. The bathroom was also a good size. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. However, one thing to keep in mind with Riads is that they do not have a ‘new hotel’ look and feel. They have ‘old world charm’ look and feel. So things were not in perfect condition – as they were probably quite old. But that’s why you stay in a Riad. The breakfast was quite good with enough choices – as you could request eggs and perhaps other things (like pancakes) cooked to order. The location was good, within the Medina and there is a money exchange place about a 7-minute walk around the corner and down deeper into the Medina. (I did not find better rates anywhere else.) To get to the Riad, we contacted the owner before we arrived, and he arranged an airport transfer, which was very helpful. We were quite happy with our stay at Riad Abaca Badra.
- SimonTunbridgeWells (10/5): Best Riad Ever - This was our tenth stay at Riad Abaca Badra and was wonderful as usual. Gilles and his lovely staff look after you brilliantly, and it's a real home from home. Fantastic value for money, you won't be disappointed. Thirteen years we've been coming, I think that says it all. Merci Gilles!
- Voyage321585 (10/5): Wonderful - My adult daughters and I had an awesome stay at the riad. It is beautiful and comfortable with great amenities. We appreciated the tips for exploring the area we received upon checking. We highly recommend staying here.
- paulgE4751AV (10/5): A great Riad! - A fantastic Riad! Incredibly helpful and attentive hosts, lovely breakfast, room was great value with an A/C that allowed us to come back and cool down at the hottest parts of the day. We had our first flight cancelled and Gilles was really accommodating with our booking allowing us to eventually get there as planned. If we come back to Marrakech, I wouldn't dream of looking anywhere else. Thank you!
- L9620GTandrewm (10/5): Fab - Fabulous
Loved this place, the location, friendly and helpful staff. The owner talked us through all the places to visit and the do's and don'ts
Fully worthy of it's 5 stars. Would definitely stay here again and the AC worked perfectly which is essential in 40 degree heat
- femio855 (10/5): RIAD ABACA BADRA IS WORTH YOUR MONEY AND STAY. ITS SERENE AND THE HOST IS A LOVELY PERSONALITY - My wife and I were met with the warmness of our host Giles on arrival. A wonderful and awesome personality who ensured we were always comfortable and relaxed. He would prepare our breakfasts and stand to ensure we were enjoying it. He would crack lovely jokes and lovingly assist anytime we needed help especially with guide around town. Also when we had an accident when we went quad biking Giles assisted with a wheelchair and relocating our room downstairs to ensure we were comfortable assessing our room. Also he helped relocating our items downstairs for us with the lovely staff. GILES ALSO MADE ME A BIRTHDAY CAKE....He is a wonderful host and if I go back to Morroco would love to back to his Riad. He is worth booking with a lovely experience
- Holiday_Lover8182 (10/5): Amazing Marrakech - Amazing place. Rooms are good size (booked room with king bed and single). Clean and well maintained. The host is very welcoming and staff are always greeting you with a smile.
Easy walk to the south and about 1km to the main square. Very quiet at night we stayed 4 nights and had no issues sleeping. Refreshing to come back to hotel for complimentary tea and biscuits. Highly recommend this place.
- WazieSmith (10/5): Still wonderful! - Always a total pleasure to stay here. Gilles’s and his team are the perfect hosts. We’ve stayed here many times and will be back again in October. The room is large and very comfortable, the bed is very comfortable too. The hot water is hot and the air con is cool. Breakfast is delicious. Thank you Gilles and team for another wonderful stay.
- Trudi Lorraine (10/5): - A beautiful riad, well maintained and decorated.
- globaltraveller706 (10/5): If you're a first timer in Marrakech then I highly recommend this riad as it's in the best part of town for tourists.. - Gilles is a phenomenal host and I'd honestly say one of the best riad hosts I've come across in Marrakech over the past 17 years. As soon as you cross over the threshold of his riad he welcomes you, sits you down and helps you work out exactly where you are in the medina and makes recommendations of where to go. Immediately you feel safe and welcomed. I've travelled to Marrakech 9 times but the medina is developing at such a fast rate that this gentle welcome was deeply appreciated and rarely done by other riads. The room and the bathroom in the riad were huge and the largest I've come across, the breakfast was excellent and the location was fantastic. Gilles also answered my questions over email before I stayed so promptly and was truly an outstanding host. Thank you Gilles for your kindness, warmth and incredible hospitality.
PS - What made Gilles stand out as a host was that as the riad owner he actually lives in the riad and is present for his guests. Many of the foreign-owned riads in Marrakech have invisible owners - ie. you don't seem them as they have managers looking after guests. This is where many of the riads go wrong as the hospitality of an owner is far different from an employed manager.
- Jose Manuel (10/5): - Nos ha encantado, el señor que no regenta es muy amable y atento.
La habitación es grande con su propio aseo y muy confortable.
Te sientes como en casa y los desayunos de lo mejor que hemos probado.
- Toni (10/5): - My husband & I loved everything about this beautiful Raid, the location is very safe, quiet and only a small walk to the hectic square. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated and Giles and his staff were so friendly and hopefully. Two mornings we had an early start and it was no trouble for them to provide early breakfast which was very delicious. Staying at the Raid is a must when visiting Marrakech.
- Tom (10/5): - Wonderful place. Highly recommended.
- Thomas (8/5): - The breakfast was excellent and the staff was very welcoming on our arrival.
I did not like that the property did not accept credit cards.
- Gareth (10/5): Fantastic place, fantastic owner - What a brilliant Riad, a brilliant experience and a great location.
This place is lovely and the charasmatic owner is a star, as are the staff. All wonderfu.
The room, the yellow room, was very big with huge bed and a sofa-single. Shower room was great and the home-mixed soaps were beautiful. Very clean and very traditional.
The owner woke up early to prepare breakfast for us before 6am, as we were off to the desert. Breakfast was again lovely, with homemade jams, eggs, breads, etc. Highly recommend this Riad, arriving here you immediate know you are in Morocco, a real experience.
Free mint tea whenever you like - with homemade biscuits, of course. Hope to come back soon
- Christian (10/5): - Gemütliches und sauberes Riad. Nur zu Fuß zu erreichen. Direkt in der Innenstadt. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich. Frühstück typisch für die Region und reichhaltig. Würde ich jederzeit ein weiteres Mal buchen.
- Yunyao (10/5): - We stayed here for two nights as a family of 3. This hidden gem is conveniently located and very walkable. The host Gilles spent time to give us detailed information about how to navigate to the main sights, including details on prices for the main attractions! Although we did hire a private tour guide, we were able to use the information to do a bit more sightseeing on our own.
The room itself is spacious and clean. The two large closets were great for storing all our luggages.
The Riad also has a spacious game area with lots of books and board games. There is no TV (my son was disappointed but which is not a bad thing from my point of view) or refrigerator, but they do provide free water and tea.
We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast, which was mostly homemade (including yogurt). My son really liked their hot chocolate.
We would love to come back again and definitely would love to try out the home cooked dinner!
- Kazumi (10/5): - Owner was very helpful and very attentive.
Gave me useful information visiting inside of Medina.
- Gabrielle (10/5): - This was one of the best stays I had! The breakfast was AMAZING and our stay in Morocco was made so much better by our host and the staff here at Abaca Badra. The pickup from the airport was great, and when we arrived we were greeted with tea and an explanation of the areas of Morocco and helpful things to know. The room was equipped with argan oil, lotion, body wash, a blow dryer, robes, everything you could really need. We were able to get henna done at the riad as well which was very convenient! BOOK THIS RIAD!
- Gaelle (8/5): - Riad au top. Gilles et son equipe sont super.
Bien situé, petit déjeuner très bon et copieux.
Nous reviendrons
- Stacy (10/5): - Wonderful experience. Lovely host.
- 597kellyi (10/5): A gem of a road - Gilles Riad was a work of art. He lives & breathes his business & is extremely accommodating. It is located in a very convenient location - we walked everywhere. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms were comfortable and had well appointed bathroom amenities.
- wojciechb860 (10/5): Great Riad and great host - Riad is beautiful!
Room was comfortable and very tidy. Brilliant breakfast with home made food.
Riad is located in very nice area with lots of restaurants, cafes and bars.
Gilles is very helpful and can organise everything for you, from taxi to airport to dessert trips.
We would definitely stay again!
- Dave (10/5): Good Riad - 2nd stay at the Riah, We stayed for 4 days when we arrived in Marrakesh and one night before our flight. Gilles stored some luggage for us without charge while we toured around Morocco. Rooms as described. Nice extras like slippers, robes hairdryer and lots of toiletries. Never stayed in a Riad and I am pretty certain you can find flashier ones and a much greater cost but if I am in Morocco again I would definitely stay here as it is good value and the food, staff everything in fact is fine
- David (10/5): - We had never stayed in a Riad before so it was a new experience. But it was great. Would definitely stay here again. This place is great value and Gilles and the staff are really helpful. Lots of nice touches like slippers and bathrobes. Yes you can find a Riah which is more luxurious, at a cost, but for us it was great
- Albert (10/5): - Very cute place to stay, and the service was incredible as the staff was incredibly flexible.
- Dylan (10/5): - We had a lovely stay in January. Giles and the other members of staff were so helpful. They made us vegan options every morning for breakfast, including a delicious cake. I'd definitely recommend staying here as it was fantastic value for money.
- Paul (10/5): - Gilles was the perfect host and this lovely Riad is a real Moroccan gem.
- O2952SRjuliet (10/5): A hidden gem in the heart of Marrakesh - Everything about Abaca Badra is excellent from our host Gilles(the hostess with the mostest) to Ahmad, the porter who carried our bags on their journey through the souk. The hotel, a highly decorated converted town house was right in the centre of the market area on a small side street: turn left and you are most certainly in Africa and turn right on wider streets lined with palaces, mosques and upmarket boutiques and shops.
Being French, Gilles is an excellent chef. Consequently, his breakfasts included homemade bread, freshly squeezed orange juice and his wonderful orange blossom yogurt.
The hotel is beautiful , the rooms are very comfortable and the staff are friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend it. My partner and I will certainly be booking a return visit at the earliest opportunity.
- Jonty (10/5): - A safe haven of comfort and quiet amidst the bustle of Marrakesh. Gilles makes you feel like honoured guests in his home.
- iansX8194HP (10/5): Perfect as ever - We have been coming here for years and we will keep coming back until we are too old to get travel insurance. The riad is small but has everything one needs, friendly attention from Gilles and his wonderful team, the best cooking in Morocco from the home made breakfast to supper, and is in the heart of the Medina but easy to find. We can't recommend the riad highly enough.
- Mohamud (10/5): - A home away from home.
- Fussylisa (10/5): Authentic, Charming, and Delicious – A True Moroccan Experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found something special. Gilles, the charismatic owner, greeted us at the door with his warm French-English humor and sat us down with a map of Marrakech before we even saw our room. The Riad itself is as authentic as it gets—quaint, traditional, and full of character. Although not accessible by road, Gilles arranged for a driver to collect us from the airport and had someone meet us with a trolley for our luggage—just part of the adventure!
The location is perfect, right near the central souks and markets, easy to navigate with Google Maps. But the real highlight? The food. Absolutely incredible. We enjoyed a homemade lamb and chicken tagine with couscous, mint tea, and cinnamon-dusted oranges for dessert—all for around €18. Breakfast was a feast of homemade yoghurt, jams, Moroccan pancakes, eggs, cakes, and more. The rooms are simple, clean, and traditionally decorated, with thoughtful touches like argan oil products, fresh fruit, and even plug adaptors and sunscreen if needed.
If you’re looking for authenticity, great food, and a host with a fantastic sense of humor, this is the place to be. 5/5—would return in a heartbeat!
Liebe Grüße an Gilles
- Lucille (10/5): - The owner Giel was very hospitable and accommodating. Wonderful and helpful staff. Great location. Daily breakfast was great, all home made…crepes, jellies, yogurt, eggs, mint tea, coffee, juice.
- Amina (10/5): - The host was so hospitable and accommodating
- Shanene (8/5): - Staff helpful. Good location.
- Mark (10/5): - The host was fun, charming and welcoming. The facility was brilliantly presented and had lots of interesting features
- Jakub (10/5): - The property was as advertised, clean, spacious and in a very nice area with a less than 15 minute walk to the main square. The street just outside the entrance is nice and quiet and just at the end of it you get a street which is lively and full of small shops. What made this stand out and why I would recommend this instead of any other place to stay is the how well the host and workers treat you. They are extremely nice and accommodating as well as the breakfasts which are excellent
- Chi (10/5): Pre Christmas in Marrakech - Had the riad pretty much all to ourselves for the duration of our stay. Ideally locally in a quiet area but only a few minutes walk to the souks and 10 minutes walk to the main square.
- Steve (10/5): - I based my choice on the positive reviews of Giles' friendliness and helpfulness. I was glad I did. Friendly transfer arranged, a good night's sleep and a great breakfast. If I come back to Marrakesh I will return here.
- Roselande (10/5): - Gilles is so attentive to his guests. He helped us with our transfer to the airport and even accompanied us safely to retrieve our car to the airport. There is nothing this man wouldn’t do to make your stay great! Breakfast was always ready and waiting hot and delicious. He also offers dinner options which is great for those not wanting to go out. The Riad is very clean and beautiful. It’s located near many shops and restaurants. Great experience you can’t go wrong in choosing this awesome place.
- Ratna (10/5): - Loved this Riad. Giles was a wonderful host. The breakfast was generous and delicious. Giles gave us some good tips to navigate tourist traps and gave us a great recommendation to buy pottery. We loved this Riad also for the closeness to the key attractions Bacha coffee and Madarsa Ben Youssef. Highly recommend staying here
- David (10/5): - I absolutely loved my time here and was made to feel so welcome when I arrived!
- Caroline (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay! The riad owner was incredibly kind and made us feel incredibly safe as two college aged females traveling by ourselves. He and his staff served us a lovely breakfast in the mornings and our room was cleaned each day. The owner gave us many tips about the city in terms of things to see and scams to avoid. The riad was is a convenient location- walkable to everything in the Medina and only a 2 minute walk from the main road where we could get picked up for our excursions. Would definitely recommend!
- Yingying (10/5): Best riad, top service, good food, convenient safe - Having stayed at 2 riads and 1 countryside resort in Marrakech for more than a week, I can confidently say that this is THE BEST place to stay (without breaking the bank)! I’ll definitely come back and recommend my friends to stay here. Location is great, it’s convenient (just quote “Dar Moha restaurant” for any tour van pick up on the main street, it’s a two min walk from the riad). Nice shopping area is just across the road. It’s quiet when you come back to the banana tree oasis in the traditional riad with nice Moroccan decorations, a nice roof top for sunbathing, listen to the bird chirping and get some fresh air, a game / reading area on the second floor. Room is spacious compared to what you can find in other Riads in the Medina. Service level is top, Gilles the owner greets you at the door each time (feel very secure) and serves you at the breakfast table daily (with the help from his professional staff). Breakfast is the generous and delicious with slight variation each day (I stayed for five nights here and still miss the food there - freshly pressed orange juice etc). The home made dinner was delicious. Best couscous I’ve ever had. I appreciate the cleanliness. Gilles is also environmentally friendly, there is no plastic. He provides free filtered water from the water cooler. Enjoyed Gilles’ French humour and a nice little tajin gift. Overall, the stay exceeded my expectation and truly five star!
- Muhammad Yousuf (10/5): - Excellent service from the host Gilles and all the staff members! Perhaps the best we have received anywhere in Morocco, or even outside! The host Gilles helped us with anything we requested and was so gracious about it.
The riad has a very homely feeling.
- Ronaldo (10/5): Graceful oasis in Marrakech - I read the reviews for this riad and decided to book it thinking that it was perhaps overrated.
Please read all the previous reviews! All of them are telling the truth! Giles and his team are the best, most caring and wonderful people there could be! There is such a vibe when you walk in! They are softly spoken, very hospitable and caring without being pushy and they really look after you.
My luggage was lost (then delivered the following day) but it didn’t bother me at all. Giles gave me a toothbrush and toothpaste and suddenly there was no stress at all. I even had slippers!
The bedroom was gorgeous with good pillows, good linen, great air conditioning and fan facilities and a very comfortable bed.
The bathroom was also great with a very powerful shower, bathrobe and toiletries.
The WiFi was as powerful as the ones you get back home.
Breakfast was stunning with homemade jams, fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, Moroccan pancakes and even eggs if you want. The coffee couldn’t get any better.
Although it is only a few yards from a small souk, the place is calm, quiet and you can’t hear a thing from the outside world. Even coming back at night, be assured that it is a very secure place and there’s even a security booth just outside, with a security guard , not that you need it but just for reassurance.
I have been to Marrakesh many times and this was not my last one. I am certain I will be seeing Giles and his lovely “family” again as I won’t go anywhere else.
Thank you very much
- Brittany (10/5): - This was an excellent place to stay if you're visiting Marrakesh. Gilles, the owner, lives here and is such a special person. He was full of knowledge, and if every place we stayed offered this many amenities, I wouldn't need to pack nearly as heavy.
The garden area is beautiful, the rooms are large and comfortable. Two settings for the shower; shampoo, conditioner, body wash, argan oil, q-tips and cotten swabs all included, along with loofas. He offers a map, advice and wonderful conversation -- this is such a wonderful place to spend your holiday.
I am celiac and he went out of his way to get me some gluten free bread for breakfast. We couldn't have chosen a better home away from home.
- John (8/5): - The shower is champ! Wow
- Jose (10/5): - Perfect Riad!
- Pawandip (10/5): - Giles and the staff were excellent hosts. The breakfast consisted of fresh breads, homemade jams, eggs made to order. The room was a nice size and clean. The only thing was having to wait get into the property whilst someone opened the door as kept feeling like I was disturbing the staff. I would recommend.
- Bethan Lynne (10/5): - Beautiful Riad in a fantastic location. Gilles was incredibly helpful and we had a fabulous few days exploring the Medina.
- Patrick (10/5): - Great place to stay. Gilles was a great host, very friendly and helpful. We were greeted with tea and biscuits, and always asked if we slept ok. Filtered water was great, and the breakfast kept us going for hours. The room was cleaned everyday.
It is also a cat free sanctuary in a cat filled city.
- Karla (10/5): Can't miss riad - Best Riad! Gilles is the most graceful host and will do whatever it takes to make you comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and filling, the beds were clean and comfortable, clean hot showers, and even beauty products and bathrobes to make your stay feel luxurious. I would recommend this Riad to friends and family
- Adam (10/5): - excellent
- meital (10/5): - Very nice and Authentic place With a great hosting
- david (10/5): - Excellent stay, Gilles (the owner) very helpful.
- Sui Ling (10/5): - It’s great as Gilles was always around to help. His prep work to have multi adaptors available in the room and provide freshly made breakfast and gave a tagine souvenir at the end of the stay were very thoughtful and sweet.
- Jerry (10/5): - Arrived Early to the Riad and was welcomed with some tea and biscuits. The staff was really friendly and was always on point. The gentleman who was in charge took the time to sit down with a map and explained the Medina to me and show me the places to consider when traveling through the area!. Explained the traps and snags of being from out of country which was a huge help!. The rooms are spacious and we'll kept also the best shower so far. As for the area the Riad was in it felt safe and secure as there is security in the alley and was close to a main road which you can hail a taxi and close to a excursion office( side shop) to book day trip or cooking classes and such. Wished this Riad was my first one that I had booked when arriving in Marrakesh. Thanks for the warm welcome and the great stay!
- Josh (10/5): Truly amazing service. - We only stayed one night but Giles and the team made us feel very welcome. We had amazing home made breads and jams for breakfast and got some good recommendation on food from them.
I stupidly left my watch behind (an early flight), Giles went out of his way and paid another UK based guest to take it home with them and gave them the money to post it to me. That is great service, he has also refused to accept money from me in return. What a nice man! Can’t recommend this service enough.
- Jeff (10/5): Best in Marrekesh - Great place. Convenient location. The breakfast was very good and it has the best shower we had during our trip! Your host is funny and super helpful in recommending what to do and where to go. We will be going back.
- Imran (10/5): - Typical Riad in design with wonderful Moroccan architecture, down a very safe street with security, next to two amazing spa's and the palace for good reference points for taxi's and tour guides! The whole team Ghizlane, Saïda, Soumia & Gilles were all fantastic, they kept the room and premises clean with a smile, were very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was local, fresh and delightful (the homemade jams were my favourite).
The room was plentiful big, with a good amount of outlets and a handy spot with USB chargers already in place. The room was equipped with both a fan and aircon unit, in the bathroom was an array. of local soaps and shower gels but most importantly a really great shower (good pressure) and well functioning toilet.
I'll be returning to Marrakech and to the Riad Abaca Badra.
- Jason (10/5): Great Hospitality - Great hospitality! The hosts were extremely helpful.
- Katherine (10/5): - This place is beautifully decorated and restored, and well run by Gilles and Dominique. It's an amazingly quiet, restful oasis within the otherwise stimulating Marrakesh medina. Breakfast was lovely, and Gilles was very helpful, even lending us a cell phone pre-programmed with his number in case we got lost or needed help. Located about 10 minute walk from the Jamaa l'fna, and even closer to the souk. Highly recommend!
- Jerrod (10/5): - Excellent location within the Medina. Easy to find, and quiet area. The owners and staff were amazing. Everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible has been taken care of.
- Marc (10/5): Great Riad and even better hosts! - Fantastic service—Gilles went out of his way to make us comfortable, even for a single night stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This Riad is absolutely beautiful and Gilles and Dominique were incredible hosts. They made us feel so welcome and really thought about everything, even giving us a phone in case we got lost and some extra blankets for our trip to the desert.
The food is also wonderful, we enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast everyday and were lucky to enjoy a 3 course dinner one evening.
Cannot recommend this stay enough!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Gilles and Dominique were very gracious hosts.
- MARK (10/5): They’ve Thought of EVERYTHING! - They Have thought of everything and it’s in the perfect location for exploring Marrakesh AND they are the perfect hosts. From the moment we arrived you can see why they have such great reviews! The perfect stay when you are in Marrakesh
- Sangeeta (10/5): Highly Recommed - I completely enjoyed my stay at Riad Abaca Badra. Gilles and Dominique were perfect hosts and made sure my stay was comfortable and safe. The place is easy to find, clean and the people are very attentive.
Pickup and drop off from the airport was arranged and went smoothly. Gilles and Dominique then went over the places to see, what to expect to pay and how to get there. They even provided a phone with their contact information to use in case of an emergency.
The room itself was clean and small touches were added to make the stay more comfortable. I was traveling solo and felt very safe at this place.
I would highly recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was an authentic riad hotel with beautiful design and wonderful comfort. The hospitality and service were outstanding. The location was so convenient--we were able to walk to see all of our desired attractions.
- Chritopher (10/5): Great stay - Host were fantastic above and beyond very impressive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was like an oasis in the middle of a sea of the turmoil outside Literally every base was covered and there wasn’t anything to much
Room was clean comfortable and with lovely decor
Breakfast was superb
Truely deserves to be number 1 Riad in Marrakech
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Located in the Medina, it was walking distance to all the sites and good restaurants. This was important to us, as we were here only two nights.
The Riad was super clean and provided all the basics such as shampoo, conditioner etc.
The breakfasts were fantastic - different both days.
However, what made the Riad outstanding were the owners- Dominque and Gilles. They were good art giving us tips for touring the area, getting us the cabs to and from the airport etc. Where they went above and beyond was in getting my daughter’s sunglasses fixed for us. Gilles did not hesitate in offering to take them to the optical store!!!! Thank you so much.
The Riad consistently gets great reviews and we can certainly attest to that!
Thank you for a wonderful stay in Marrakech.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dominique & Gilles were hands down the best host I’ve ever come across. They were kind, attentive, knowledgeable & very accommodating. Upon arrival they gave us a map and made many suggestions on where to go, things to see & places to eat. They even provided us with a cell phone that had their direct lines programmed in case we were out and needed them. That blew my mind! The riad was beautifully decorated and in the heart of the Médina. Everything was in walking distance. Each morning we received a wonderful breakfast with a beautiful spread that included many homemade jams and spreads. This was my first time but certainly not my last. If you are planning a trip to Marrakech, this place with not disappoint.
Thank you Dominique, Gilles & the rest of the Abaca Badra staff for providing my siblings and I with such a great experience and so much hospitality. I look forward to visiting again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners go out of their way with detail and hospitality
- nan (10/5): warm and wonderful - Hosts were perfect and every detail thoughtful of guests
- Jas (10/5): - The location was excellent and it was easy to walk to site see, shop and eat. The highlight though was the owners, Gilles and Dominic who were helpful, friendly and catered to our every need.
- Simbarashe (10/5): A riad that feels at home - Gilles and Dom were amazing hosts, they really made us feel like we were not checking into a hotel, but their home. I ended up staying in two different rooms in the bookends of my Morocco trip with two docent room configurations. The first stay was so great that when the opportunity came to return to Marrakech for one more night I did not hesitate to book another room with them.
The next time I come to Morocco I won't be looking to stay anywhere else. Upon checking in they will get you with tea and give you an "expert" guide to the Medina, with toys on everything from bartering tips to the best restrooms (a strange but entirely critical thing to know for long walk around days).PS... Breakfast was included for its and was AMAZING.
Travel tip: Gilles is happy to secure transit to and from the airport for you, just let him know prior to your arrival!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great 5 days in Marrakech. - What made it great were the hosts. Location is great too as it's a short walk through the market to get to the square.
- jennifer (10/5): - I absolutely loved this place. If I return to Marakesh this is the place I would stay. We stayed in other lovely Riad's during our trip to Morocco but this place was far above the rest. Giles and Dominique are so kind and welcoming. Everything is homemade. We had to leave early in the morning and they provided us with an amazing breakfast. along with homemade breads, crepes, jams and other delicious treats. Giles even made beautiful fried eggs. Amazing!
- Daniel (10/5): - Really great experience, we wish we could stay here longer
- KAY (10/5): Riad Abaca Badra - Riad Abaca Badra was amazing, with two lovely hosts Gillies and Danielle, they were very heelpful and informative, this Riad was central to everything we wanted to visit. We had a lovely room with lovely breakfast. I would highly recommend and definitley be back.
- Gabriel (10/5): Wonderful stay - Wonderful stay with amazing hosts—so helpful with everything, and the breakfasts were truly wonderful!
- Marie (10/5): Beautiful Riad, Lovely People. - My partner and I spent a wonderful five nights at the Riad Abaca Badra and we could not recommend this Riad more highly, it was exceptional in every way! Firstly, the location was excellent, within 10 mins walking of the main square (Jemaa el-Fnaa) and attractions and the Riad itself was beautiful, with a lovely internal courtyard and traditional ceilings and furnishings. Our room was very spacious and extremely comfortable complete with local toiletries and air-conditioning. The roof terrace was the perfect place to relax or read a book after a busy day exploring the city. We also had two dinners at the hotel and it was the best food that we ate in Morocco! But the best thing about this hotel was the wonderful owners, Dominique and Gilles. They were so kind and welcoming and went out of their way to help us in any way they could. Nothing was too much trouble for them! Gilles even insisted on making us breakfast at 5:30am before our early morning flight! We have stayed in many lovely hotels and guest houses around the world but we have never experienced hospitality like this!
- Lauren (10/5): Amazing gem - Great stay, Gilles was very helpful in getting to know the city and top things to see and what to be careful about. The breakfast each day was very nice and all home made. We had airport pickup and our first nights dinner which were both perfect. We also arranged a day trip with them. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main square.
- Tommy (10/5): Wonder riad close to the medina - This riad is in a great loacation - close to a road so a taxi can drop you off (4 minute walk) and a 10-15 minute walk from the old medina. The hosts are wonderful and extremely helpful. The riad is beautiful. It’s also next door to a great spa.
- barbara (10/5): Best choice - Excellent service. Well located. Would go back tomorrow!
- DMc (10/5): - Nice quiet Riad excellent staff very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay
