- Helayna (10/5): It was a lovely stay. The host went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and happy. He made excellent suggestio - It was a lovely stay! The host was incredibly kind and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and happy. He made excellent suggestions for how to enjoy the town. He even helped me connect with a taxi so that I could see a few more sights in the morning before heading to the KTX. Wonderful stay, would love to come back again some time!
- Coleen.
- Emily (10/5): Besutiful experience - The kindest host and the most beautiful home with so many little handmade touches. He cares so much and could not have been more helpful or welcoming Nothing!
- David (10/5): Nice stay in a traditional Hanok - Great host and good location since everything in the area can be reached by foot or by bus.

Wandelen s'avonds is weergaloos mooi Niets eigenlijk.

- Megan (9/5): Great experience - The hanok was beautiful, the hosts were lovely and very welcoming. Gave us tips on where to visit and eat. The bed was very comfortable. The space isn't as secure, as two women travelling, and the room doesn't have a very secure lock. We booked room with a private bathroom, which was located outside the Hanok. Which is fine for one night but something to know.
- Luc (10/5): Super warm welcome and amazing host. - Clean and really well placed location.
Our host was super sweet and gave us good informations to what to do around. We got a custom itinerary around the city. It didn’t bother us but there is no sound isolation (paper walls). So if your are sensitive to noise you are warned.
- Mira (9/5): Felt like home - People at the Yettle were very kind and helpful. I haven’t slept this good for a while. The room and the atmosphere was very cozy here. Thank you :) -
- Melville (9/5): - The place was very authentic. It was close to the museum and local buses. Breakfast was unexpected, fresh and tasty. Our hosts were delightful, charming and helpful 😊 Nothing really.
- Valerie (9/5): - Our host was fantastic! He was so helpful in directing me to the best spots to see and how to do it easily. He always had time for you. Although there was supposed to be no breakfast, we did have breakfast. The location is so perfect! I think the room I had needs to be explained a bit more. It was extremely small and difficult to stand. Also, although there was a private bathroom, it was outside across the courtyard so if it was raining it wasn't that great. However, the chance to stay in a hanok setting with such a wonderful host excuse the rest.
- Ryan (10/5): Great host, great traditional place. - Extremely friendly host, super friendly and keen to help. Cute traditional rooms and experience.
- Emma (10/5): An authentic home stay - This was a really cozy place to stay for the night - one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in!
The owner was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Gyeongju and helped us plan to see as much as we could in the short time we were here.
Thanks for everything! Our bathroom was outside - not attached to our room. Fine for us but would have been good to know in advance
- Alessandro (10/5): - Traditional Korean house with modern facilities to accommodate the needs of the guests. The hosts explained to us carefully what to visit in the region and how to get there. They also offered us a complimentary breakfast. Highly recommended.
- Lilith (10/5): So glad to have experienced a night in a traditional hanok with the most wonderful host - The committed and energetic host of this gem of a Hanok.
- James (10/5): - Great host! Clean comfortable accommodation! It was great!
- Salima (10/5): -
- Nour (10/5): Great stay in Gyeongju. - Located on a quiet street, easy access. It is right by the national museum and everything can be done by foot.
The room was confortable.
The host was nice and provided great information as to what to do and see.
The breakfast was a nice touch to the stay. Nothing.
- Gartmann (10/5): Great Hanok stay with kind and helpful hosts - It was very cozy and traditional but with modern facilities such as bathroom and kitchen. The bed/mattress was very comfortable.
The owners were super nice and helpful giving guidance on what to see, transport, and how the house is laid out and where to find everything. We had a great one night stay, falling asleep to the sound of the rain on the traditional Hanok roof. We would highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience a traditional Hanok.
- Kaitlyn (10/5): -
- Siew Lan (10/5): Highly recommended for a comfortable stay. - Charming household, beautifully decorated, excellent host and hostess providing helpful suggestions for local sights to visit. Nothing
- Bernd (1/5): - Eigentlich nichts. Fast alkes.Kein richtiges Hanook ,sondern anscheinend selbst darauf getrimmt.Nicht sehr sauber.überall Reperaturspuren.Vermieter will eine Stunde etwas erklären, was jeder nach5 Minuten verstanden hat.Sehr aufdringlich.
- Daniel (8/5): - The house was very nice Breakfast sharp 08:00 and was not keen on getting micro managed by host. Toilet was outside in the yard which I did not mind but was always concerned waking up other guests
- Cynthia (10/5): - Well located to visit Gyeongju's old city main attractions (all within 15 to 30min by feet)
Light (but free) breakfast from the owner Nothing in particular
- Hansen (10/5): - We had an amazing time. The hosts were so kind and forthcoming. As we only had one day, they helped us figure out how to make the most of our visit and even took us to the first stop when the wait for the bus was somewhat long - just to make sure we were able to do it all. The stay is also just a short walk from the historic sights and several bus stops, making it a really convenient place to stay for exploring in general.
- Jane (10/5): The owner was friendly and helpful. He gave helpful directions and booked a taxi to station for us. -
- Hristina (10/5): -
- Sun (10/5): The host was great and gave us pointers where to go. Very hospitable and most of all clean . - Actually, we're happy with the breakfast. We didn't expect breakfast at all. Coffee was great and the fresh bread. We like everything
- Jack (10/5): You should stay here - Owner was really helpful and informative
The hanok setting is reslly unique and its location offers great transport links
- Glen (10/5): An authentic hanok house in a beautiful area. - Great location beside museum, palace, observatory and bus stop a few minutes walk. The hosts are lovely people and very knowledgeable about Gyeongju, with excellent English speaking skill. Mr J brings a light breakfast each day and is happy to discuss where to go, what to see, how to get there etc. He is so helpful. If you want an authentic Korean hanok stay, I would highly recommend Yettle. I loved everything about Gyeongju.
- Lauren (10/5): -

- Paul (3/5): Price point does not match facilities - Proximity to town Some people may find this review harsh but the host prices his accommodation at the same price as a five star hotel in Jeju! We stayed two nights at this accommodation and to say it was bad is an understatement. At first the host asking us when we would arrive and that we should have arrived by now. The manner he asked was inducing stress. Initially this seemed like a caring act however, it foreshadowed what would come. When we arrived we checked in which was very smooth, however, he then continued to ask when we would leave so he could eat. When we were able to properly inspect the room we found that there was a ventilation hole in the bathroom leading to the next door one. There was tape all over the room and bathroom. The bathroom was instead a basic washroom with the shower coming from the tap. In the external shower room there was nowhere to hang your towel. The towels in question were the size of hand towels making it almost impossible to dry both yourself and your hair. We were told upon arrival that the toilet paper would have to go in the bin next to the toilet. The second evening when one of us tried to shower to find that the water was freezing cold. The owner told us that he had forgotten to turn the hot water back on. Why is the host turning the water off? There were also security issues within this accommodation, these were that we were told to leave our rooms open and lights on when we left and there was no safe to be able to put our things. You also were not able to lock your doors unless you were in the room. There was no noise privacy as you were always able to hear everything that everyone was saying. The owner also made an inappropriate comment and had an invasive attitude.
- Luisa (10/5): Charming traditional house - The host was really really kind, welcoming and attentive, he gave us a lot of tips about the city and answered all our questions. This made our stay much better than expected. The house is very pretty and traditional, it looks exactly like in the pictures. Whoever books this place will have a great experience :) There’s nothing we didn’t like. The place looks exactly like in the pictures.
- Ariel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susie (10/5): - My family and I had a WONDERFUL stay at Yettle Hanok. Jung and his wife were lovely hosts who welcomed us, showed us a map so we could get our bearings and even offered suggested activities for the day so that we would be able to experience all the sights and experiences. We rented the entire home and found it be spacious, comfortable and clean. It was such a unique experience to stay in a traditional hanok-style home. The home is walking distance to the Gyeongju National Museum and a bus stop with buses that will take you right into town. My family loved every minute of our stay and are so grateful for the hospitality and warmth of our hosts!
- Seidel (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts are very friendly. They provided me with a lot of details and advice regarding touristic activities in the area. They also brought free breakfast right to my bedroom! These people run their small business with a lot of love and you can feel that.
- priyanka (8/5): - We had a pleasant stay at this property.
It was tidy and comfortable.
The bathroom for our room was outside, which we didn't mind at all but may not be okay for everyone.
Pros:
- Korean style house, lovely wooden details
- Great location, close to lots of attractions and bus stop. Busses are frequent.
-comfortable bed.
-The owner was friendly and chatty (find more information below). Gave us a map of Gyeongju and arrival and idea on what to do
-lovely breakfast provided one of the days
- fridge/freezer, kettle, tea, coffee provided
-cute tea room
Cons:
- no restaurants near by, cafe next door open for very limited hours so take some snacks
- lack of privacy and lots of rules to follow. Owner overbearing at times. Will do things like readjust where your shoes are, expects room door to be open during the day for air circulation, made us rush out on the day of check out So he can start cleaning (we were out by 8:15)!! I felt like I was intruding in his home but it's was great experience otherwise.
- Kathleen M. (8/5): - The owner was so friendly and helpful! The bed was very comfortable. The location was great—so close to the historic center—walkable to the beautiful park, Wolji and bridge, all of these are awesome to see at night. Just walk, don’t take a taxi tour.
- Cherry (10/5): Exceptional - We had an excellent experience! The owners were lovely and the house, authentic and beautiful. It's very well located, next to the tombs, palaces and historical village. Would definitely visit again!
- Aldara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): 100/10 - Had an amazing 2 nights at Yettle. The owners are wonderful, so available and attentive. They waited for us to arrive at 8PM (we did a last-minute booking) and proceeded to explain how the whole city works and where to go / what buses to take. Also, the house is adorable and a great chance to experience staying in a classic Korean Hanok. They also gave us a free little breakfast! If I am ever in Gyeongju again, I will definitely be staying here. Can recommend 100%.
- Isabel (8/5): Very good - Really lovely couple, accommodated my late arrival time and gave me a small breakfast even though I hadn't paid for it:) didn't realize my room would be smaller than the others ahead of time, very easy to hear others but that is typical in traditional homes
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Very kind, helpful and attentive host. Beautiful house and nice rooms
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Mariaconcetta (10/5): Exceptional - Our two-night stay in this traditional hanok in Gyeongju was truly memorable. Our host was kind and welcoming and he provided a detailed map of the city with all the main sights and offered recommendations for attractions in Gyeongju. Thanks to his guidance, we were able to make the most of our short visit.
The hanok itself is exactly as described on booking: clean, charming and full of character.
A particularly thoughtful touch was the breakfast he prepared for us, even though it wasn’t included in the booking. It was simple but very much appreciated, and it reflected the genuine hospitality that made this stay so special.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and warm experience in Gyeongju.
- Amanda (10/5): Close to everything - Beautiful home so close to everything. Host is very kind and helpful.
- William (10/5): - Quaint house and very enthusiastic host
- Maurin (9/5): Hostoric stay with a lot to do around -
- Marta (8/5): Nice for one night stay - It is nice but your quality of sleep will depend on noise from guests in other rooms. The location is great for on-foot exploration. We didn't appreciate owner being too pushy with checkout time.
- Shinyoung (3/5): Poor - We were excited to stay in a traditional hanok, but unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations.
While the facilities were perfect, the attitude of the male host made the overall environment very uncomfortable. As many previous reviews have mentioned, he tends to impose certain behaviors, insisting that “since many foreigners stay here, you must do this or that.” For reference, I am a foreigner who speaks fluent Korean. So, who exactly are these rules and behaviors for?
I simply wanted to enjoy a peaceful morning tea, but he kept rushing us to check out early. Later, when a local friend from Gyeongju briefly visited and asked to use the restroom, he rudely remarked, “Why are so many people coming in?”
If I return to Gyeongju, I would rather pay more for a place where I can at least feel comfortable and respected.
- Sian (10/5): An Amazing Hanok With a Wonderful Host -- A MUST! - An AMAZING experience. Staying in this traditional hanok(with modern bathroom amenities) just across the road from the central historic sites was a highlight of our time in Gyeongju. Not only was the property amazing but the host really made the experience. He spent time with us on arrival, and each morning, to suggest the best way to see his city and how to get around it. We felt most welcome in his hanok and truly loved staying in the traditional experience. This is a traditional house of wood and paper doors, so being quiet and respectful of other guests makes everyone's stay so much better!
- Lucas (10/5): Ver comfortable stay at a traditional Hanok. - The Host was very friendly and forthcoming, je helped wherever he could to make the stay as comfortable as possible. He helped us planning everything.
- Susanne (10/5): Friendly Host - We enjoyed our stay at the Yettle Hanok. Our host was very friendly and helpful. He communicated with us prior to our visit on how to get there, which was extremely helpful. Upon arrival he provided us with a map and overview of Gyeongju. The hanok is conveniently located across the street from the museum and is easy walking to the village. There is a bus stop close by with buses that can take you to main historical sites around Gyeongju. Our host brought us a nice little breakfast with coffee to our room each morning, and he arranged taxi pick up for us when we departed. I recommend staying at this hanok to experience a traditional Korean home during your stay.
- Jok (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer - Great host explaining the home, what to see locally, speaks understandable English, very helpful and answers your questions. We received a surprise mini breakfast as there is not really a breakfast option available nearby. Nice cosy tea room, nice badro9m in a traditional home setting.
- Rony (10/5): Would come back, Soon! - Absolutely unforgettable stay at Yettle Hanok Stay in Gyeongju.
- The hosts were warm, thoughtful, and treated us like family from the moment we arrived.
- The hanok was peaceful, beautifully maintained, and rich with traditional charm.
- Every detail—from the cozy bedding to the hand-prepared breakfast—felt personal and full of care.
- The garden was serene, and the location was perfect for exploring the cultural treasures of Gyeongju.
- We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already missing it.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a soulful, memorable experience. Our stay at Yettle Hanok Stay was perfect in every way.
- The hospitality was warm, genuine, and unforgettable.
- The hanok itself was beautifully preserved—peaceful, clean, and full of character.
- Every moment felt thoughtful and intentional, from the delicious homemade breakfast to the calming ambiance of the courtyard.
- We felt truly cared for, not just accommodated.
There is absolutely nothing I would change. Thank you for such a special experience—we’ll treasure it always.
- Shalini (9/5): A very charming Hanok stay - Location was outstanding. We could walk to all the sites in the main historical area. The house was very charming. The owner was helpful, he helped us with booking our cabs and he gave us some breakfast, even though it was not included in the room rate, because he knew there was nothing we could grab near the house. While we appreciate the owner's helpful nature, we felt like we didn't have our privacy and felt very rushed the following morning . The owner was there very early and he kept trying to ensure we left by 9am. Maybe the intention was good but we were on a holiday and didn't want to be rushed but we ended up feeling a little stressed out.
- Ava (10/5): beautiful traditional hanok with personable and caring host - Super special little stay! Lovely host and fantastic location if you don’t mind a little walk. Garden is nice and there is a friendly atmosphere.
- CEDAR BOUGH TAM (6/5): - So, first of all, this might be a good place for you to stay if you know NOTHING about Korea and you're a foreigner. But everyone else should avoid staying here. I booked this property on Weds for Thurs and was required to fill in my phone. By midday on Thursday I had received over 10 contacts from the property by email and by text. I started to feel very harassed, as perhaps getting one EMAIL about how to find the property is normal. I work full time, I don't need constant distractions. I was asked to inform my exact time of arrival. I informed that I would take a bus at 6:20 or 7:20. I clarified that I would message after I got on the bus. By 5pm I was already receiving more messages about my arrival time. I informed that I would take the 6:20 bus, arriving at 7:35. At 7:30 I got a message if I had arrived. I called and was told that they were waiting for us, even though I specified that we hadn't even eaten dinner yet and clarified that there is no restaurant anywhere nearby the hanok. Feeling very rushed as they said they didn't live there and couldn't leave until we arrived, we bought cup ramen for dinner (the worst) and quickly went to the hanok (nothing for breakfast). When we arrived the owner wanted to sit down and lecture us about hanok or something, rather than show us the room and let us relax and eat our ramen. Also he repeated everything 3-4xs, even though I speak fluent Korean, he said it in broken English (my husband doesn't speak English), too.
- Travis (10/5): Amazing experience, amazing staff, very cool hotel. - This place was super cool, the gentleman who ran the home was absolutely incredible. When we arrived he went through the local attractions, suggested activities, and was generally incredibly helpful. The stay itself is a very unique experience, if you're looking for a traditional hanok stay I can't imagine a better place to do it. The rooms were on the smaller side but there are plenty of common areas to hang out in. The doorway to the bathroom was also a little low so as a taller guy (6' 3") I had to duck. This definitely resulted a banged up head in the middle of the night.
- Ralf (6/5): - This review is based on the fact that we have not stayed in a Hanok before and therefore can be biased.
Similar to other reviews we appreciated the in depth tips from the very friendly owner re. the area and important/interesting places to visit.
We arrived by car and parking is close by which was explained by the owner so it was easy to find. He explained the place in every detail which was very helpful. The rooms are very clean and typical Hanok style.
Important to note are two facts (which we did not know before)
- the house itself is located close to one of the roads. Therefore traffic can be heard. It really did not disturb or bother us but worth to mention
- the house consists of 4 rooms. 3 of them have own shower and restrooms. One room has shower and bathroom facilities outside. Even though it was basically a minute walk away from the room we found it uncomfortable( especially during the night). It was also not mentioned during the booking and therefore not ideal.
The building overall is tidy and has all facilities but do not expect a typical old style Hanok as you see on the pics posted for the others.
Nevertheless, if you take price value into and the above mentioned points into consideration then it is worth considering for a stay.
On the addtl. positive side though it’s worth to mention that we received free breakfast though.
Would we come back? Not really. Depending on the budget might spend a little more and choose a different one.
- Patricia D (10/5): - Host was wonderful and gave us a map and layout of the town. We had access to a patio and rooftop. Even though breakfast was not included, he gave us bananas, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bread and coffee. I highly recommend staying there for a unique hanok experience.
- Petr (10/5): Exceptional - I am glad I chose this pension. The owner creates an almost homelike atmosphere and cares about you. Close to everything interesting in Gyeongju.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Béatrice (10/5): Picturesque traditional accomodation and warm welcome - Our host was very kind and extremely eager to assist us. The accomodation (traditional hanok) is very picturesque. It is outside the old city, but at a walking distance from the tumulus park. A breakfast is offered to the guests, which is very appreciated. In summary, a very good stay.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb - The host was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave me a lot of tips on what to see in the surroundings and how to get there. The place was easy to reach by bus and within walking distance of all the main sights in the city. I really enjoyed the traditional aspects of the house and the room. I would definitely recommend this.
- Katherine (9/5): Superb -
- Megan (10/5): Incredible Host! - Our stay here was lovely. The owner was kind and incredibly helpful — he gave us a map and directions on the best ways to see all the sights we were interested in. The rooms were spotless and the beds had heating pads, which were so cozy, as we were traveling in the fall and it was getting cool. All around a great stay — highly recommend for anyone looking for a more authentic experience unlike those you get at a regular hotel.
- Sandra (10/5): Traditional Hanok Homestay - It is a classic Hanok Style House with 5 bedrooms. 4 of them have connecting bathrooms, whereas the small single person does not. I had to walk out into the courtyard, only about 15 feet away, to use my own bathroom, but it was for my own use and it was clean. It is a beautiful home and the owners, who live nearby are so friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was comfortable with a good temperature. It was clean and exactly as you’d expect a traditional style of bedroom to be. The mattress is on the floor but it has heating and was pretty thick and comfy. They provided a small but good breakfast in the morning and have a small kitchen with refrigerator for guest convenience as well as a separate tea room. It was an enjoyable stay and I would stay again if I’m ever back in Gyeongju!
- Ana (2/5): Attic room - the tea room was nice There are 5 steep steps to get into the room. This room should not be offered to guests above 25 years of age because it is dangerous to get in and out, especially at night if you need a restroom. I dont recall steps in the room description. The bathroom is outside and in the pouring rain, it is highly inconvenient. The owner literally pushed me out at 9:20, the day I was to check out. He inquired and I told him that I had a 12:10 train to Busan. I agreed to check out at 10 since that is the check out time and he will call me a taxi. Then he said there is a marathon and that will cause the delay and thus he will call the taxi for me at 9:30. In fact he needed me gone earlier so he can clean the room for other guests and not out of concern for me. At 9:20 the taxi arrived and I was rushed by him out. I arrived to train station with no delay, way too early and stressed out. Fortunatelly I was able to change the ticket for an earlier train. This and the way he runs this place was the worst experience for me in Korea.
