- sharon (6/5): Nice but wouldn’t stay again - I called the hotel to say we were celebrating a 40th birthday. They said some welcome drinks and free upgraded will be complimentary and thank you for choosing the hotel when we arrived. We didn’t even have the room I originally booked and no drinks and no complimentary gift. Room was very tired. Hotel is beautiful. Breakfast and staff was amazing.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Good but rooms need air con! - Hotel and leisure centre were lovely especially the outside pool and jacuzzi on a hot day! Dinner was average for the cost and did wait ages for a drink. Breakfast was tasty and good selection. No air con in the room which was the biggest problem on a hot night as lack of sleep ruined the overall stay.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Worth it - Stayed here for my honeymoon, food was amazing and varied with friendly staff who couldnt have done more, despite me and my wife being alternative and probably not the hotels usual clientele we were treated with nothing but kindness and respect, my wife suffers from chronic pain and needs ice packs to sooth pain, despite no fridge/freezers in the rooms the staff were able to store her icepacks for her.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Pool/spa has limited access - The hotel itself was located in a nice quiet country area, was quite old school in style and decor, but could do with a modern upgrade in places. We were very disappointed, as we booked it purely because of the pool/spa facilities, as a family stay with our son, but we weren’t even able to use it throughout our stay as a family and were told it was ‘adults only’. We were never informed that it had limited access due to club membership until after we had made a reservation. More transparency and upfront information is needed - check before booking as we feel like we did not get value for money at all.

We didnt catch the name of the lovely waitress who served us brekfast and lunch but she was very efficient and professional. We visited the spa twice which is always great - must try and book in the summer when we can sit in the gardens.

- Andrew (8/5): Nice place, shame about the duvet. - Staff were friendly. Building was nice, but the room was not that comfortable. No fridge and the safe was broken. The worst thing was that the bed was a 6ft mattress but we only had a 5ft duvet, which didn’t cover two people in the bed. This meant we had a poor night’s sleep.

- Skye (10/5): Overall very good hotel with excellent facilities - Very comfy bed , quiet , nice leisure centre with excellent facilities that you can use for free during your stay Spacious and quiet room Room service food was very nice (sandwiche/fries/salad Although quite expensive totalling £19 I can't really fault the hotel in any way Only thing I would say is that I was told I could use the pool until 6pm when I arrived only to be told it was closing at 5 40 which was disappointing. But other than that I have no negatives to mention

- Verified traveler (8/5): Call ahead for the spa/pool, check the rules - Very good hotel, but would caution if going with children if you want to use the pool. There are very strict restrictions of when and how the pool can be used, but the small print is only shared once you arrive at the hotel. We booked and paid full price for my stepson to stay in a separate room only for him to be turned away from the swimming poo. It turned out that supervised 15-year olds are only allowed in the pool during a 2.5 hour period during the day, and that was only pointed out to us in the small print as he was turned away from the pool. Hotel management told us rules are rules and as the spa/pool is not part of the hotel, they can’t do anything. We would have gone somewhere else as we wanted a hotel with a pool in Essex (being in Chelmsford was not essential for us). Separately, breakfast food is good, but the service experience varies. First morning we had lovely service, but the second day we had a very rude server.

But think that was just this room dont stay in 69!

Used Reflections Spa but was disappointed as so many children in the pool with floats etc that unable to swim any lengths. Changing room too busy as well with children running in and out some of an older age. No privacy when changing. Breakfast was good, but felt was all undercooked ie bacon, sausages, hash browns tomatoes could have done with an extra 5 mins in the oven.

- Brian (8/5): Ok but could be improved. - The hotel is ok. The bathrooms are old and in need of refurbishment. The service is mediocre with the exception of one or two people, the other staff were not openly friendly or helpful. The food in the restaurant is ok but not exceptional and is overpriced and they automatically add 12.5% service charge. I have not know this as a resident in a hotel before.

The room we were staying in was large with a comfortable bed, lovely bathroom It overlooked the gardens at the back where there was a marquee. We stayed 3nights. It was very welll cleaned everyday. Just be aware, when there are events taking place in the marquee or conference rooms, it will be noisy in rooms at the back. Just request a quieter room. The staff and management are all lovely and will go overboard to ensure you enjoy your stay.. We would recommend this hotel.

I noticed a few small things which were not to my liking this time. Eg. No shower cap provided in bathroom, no choice of wholemeal bread, no choice of milk at breakfast (unless you ask), no alternative to butter provided for breakfast toast. Swimming pool was packed with non hotel residents could hardly get into the changing room so I gave it a miss. Still a lovely place but noticeably slipping a bit.

- David (10/5): Amazing hotel, fantastic staff - Fantastic stay with a welcoming, clean and friendly environment. Stayed with our two year in tow and staff were very happy to make him feel involved and welcome. Highly recommend this to anyone.

- Jan (10/5): Great hotel on the edge of Chelmsford - Ver nice hotel. The mattress on the bed was slightly uncomfortable. Coffee tray was a bit poor. A coffee machine would have been a nice touch considering the cost of the room. Not sure breakfast was worth £20.00 either on reflection.
