- Roam43888233187 (10/5): Oceanfront Charmer - We loved the waterfront location of this hotel. Had a fabulous ocean view. We were there in the off-season, so the island had a very chill vibe. The hotel is older, but it’s very charming. We knew we would be paying a premium for being at an oceanfront property and central/very convenient to everything in Avalon. It was worth it.!!!!! It is just steps to restaurants and boutiques galore. Our room was very clean. The housekeepers do a great job. The included continental breakfast was nothing to write home about.

The bathroom did not have a vent which is terrible for a small room very close to the bathroom. Wifi was very weak. Breakfast was just random pastries and fruits on a tiny table in front of the office. Nothing too crazy

- Michele (8/5): Nice quiet stay - It is close to everything. There are lots of stairs at the front entrance. Note: There is a an entrance in the back of the building that has less stairs. That can be accessed only until 7pm. I would suggest using them to bring your bags up and down into the property.
- Casey (10/5): Great place - Location right next to the beach, staff are nice, you can keep your bags there if you arrive early or want to browse around after checkout, free coffee and pastries are always nice. The stairs can be brutal after a long day out if you're on the top floor.

Rooms are dated. Didn't care for the bathroom. The shampoo,conditioner,lotion and soap were just okay, and showers with a shower curtain felt like a public shower. Need more hooks and racks in the bathroom if possible....most guests will have wet swim suits that need to be hung when they stay at this hotel.

- Denise (5/5): Ok hotel, but LOUD. - The woman at the front desk was super friendly, and the location is steps away from the beach. There is absolutely no soundproofing in the walls, and they do not enforce quiet hours. The first 2 mornings we were awakened at 7am by the neighbors laughing and yelling to each other (looked like a girl's weekend, and the 4 of them were having a great time). I asked the young guy at the desk to speak to them, and he said they weren't "that loud", but never actually got close to the door or went into our room to hear the noise. Once they left a family came in, and they had cartoons on full volume at 7:30am. Don't plan on ever sleeping in here.

- Lok Sze (8/5): Amazing location, traditional style, clean - Amazing location facing the shoreline and main road. Overall clean facilities, friendly staff, and a very nice courtyard area that could be utilized for outdoor casual dining and afternoon lounging. The entrance is very small and easily to be missed. The hotel feels quite dated (even though it takes pride in its heritage and history). Quite overpriced for the dated look.

We stayed for our anniversary and they made us a homemade card which was so nice. It has a great view of the water as you come down the stairs, it’s very beautiful.
- mayavw (10/5): Clean, Quiet, and Convenient Stay! - I booked a stay here for 4 nights and the customer service was great, the hotel was extremely clean, high attention to detail, continental breakfast, and overall very quiet! I loved my stay here and would book again in a heartbeat. Not to mention it is very convenient, just a walk away from the ferry and in the middle of “town”. You are right on the beach. There are stairs and no elevator but that wasn’t a problem in the slightest. Great value for a few nights on the island. My bed was comfortable and the hotel provided everything I needed. Definitely recommend!

- Textwright (2/5): Don't be fooled by the pictures. - Good location, but the hotel was awful. We booked a "patio room" expecting it to be on the ground floor. There was no indication in the online description that the hotel entrance is up two steep flights of stairs with no elevator. We were there when it was rainy, and the stairs were slippery. The patio is a paved area on the roof -- stark and unattractive. The room was tiny. Fridge, but no microwave. Desperately in need of updating. Lumpy bed, mismatched furniture, stinky old carpeting. Don't be fooled by the pictures and the sweet historical story. All of its charm is in the location and the one lighted exterior photo online.

It’s a 13x9 room. Even if you include the 5x5 bathroom it’s not close. Door for the bathroom was crooked and had a huge gap. Breakfast should be described as continental.

- Florent (5/5): Hôtel trop cher en mauvais état sur un Bel emplacement - Très bel emplacement au centre d'Avalon et face a l'ocean sur la promenade. L'emplacement est parfait mais peut être un peu bruyant selon les animation qui peuvent avoir lieu dans la rue. L'établissement est vieux et usé et les équipements sont obsoletes. Parfois cassés comme c'était le cas pour le mitigeur de la douche de ma chambre. Le petit déjeuner est compris mais limité à quelques pâtisseries bon marché livrées avec un Thermos de café dans un couloir face a la cabine de réception. Il est possible de laisser ses bagages après le checkout et de les récupérer plus tard mais ils seront juste posés par vous même sur des étagères sans aucune protection dans un autre couloir. Le prix payé se plus se 300 usd pour une petite chambre vue océan n'est pas justifié ou alors ne considérez que vous payez pour l'emplacement mais pas pour le reste.

- 545livior (10/5): Excellent location and comfortable room! - The hotel was perfect for our trip to Catalina. The location is amazing, you see a view of the ocean the second you hit the bottom stair heading outside. Very close to all the bars and restaurants, with a gift shop and convenient store below it. We stayed in one of the older rooms inside the courtyard, and so we were isolated from all the noise below. Would definitely stay here again.

Our courtyard-facing room was small, but the room was equipped with a mini fridge, a desk/chair, and some room for the luggage rack. Since we were only there for one night, it wasn’t a big deal. The decor overall was very 70s, but with a bit of a beach vibe. Breakfast was simple, with pastries, yogurt, and whole fruits.

- Celeste (6/5): - The location was very convenient - just across from the water, a quick commute from the boat pier, surrounded by shopping and dining. We had a single king bed room and it was certainly one of the smallest rooms I've had. There was barely enough room for two people to walk around, we had to sit at an angle on the toilet because the toilet and cabinet are so close (I'm only 5"1' for perspective). It's a bit outdated. The hotel is quiet despite being nearby so many amenities, the staff is very friendly. For the price, I would book at a different hotel in the future for more amenities, more space, and a bit more modernized.

Same outdated furniture, the bathroom was a bit bigger. The continental breakfast was not much. No ocean views, shops were very close. We would not stay there again.

The hotel receptionist was so sweet and helpful. Getting up and down the short flight of stairs with our luggage was a little tricky but it wasnt anything that would seriously impact our trip.
