Guest Reviews
- Rosina (10/5): Generous hosts at this pretty bnb offering a delicious plentiful breakfast! - Beautiful converted barn in a lovely quiet location accessible down a picturesque gravel drive. We were surrounded by birdsong and the sounds of nature which was a perfect holiday escape. It’s within 30 mins drive of Glastonbury, Wells, the East Somerset railway and Cheddar Gorge for fun day trips.
- Wes (9/5): Lovely couple of nights - Beautiful barn in a lovely setting, albeit a little off the beaten track.
Simon and Aly were great hosts Nothing
- Clark (9/5): Really lovely location with excellent breakfast and very convenient pub. Ideal for dog lovers. - The breakfast was excellent and the owners were very thoughtful and friendly. We would have preferred it without the presence of dogs at breakfast time. The owner's dog was very well behaved but the other guests were placed at the same table for breakfast and had three dogs between them. We ate early so it wasn't too much of a problem for us. We do like dogs but would have preferred a quieter breakfast.
- Christopher (10/5): An excellent stay overall - we won't hesitate to return. - Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious with good facilities and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was superb - possibly the best we've ever experienced in a B & B. Location was ideal for our needs. There were two small things which could have made our stay even better. One was the lighting in our bedroom - it was difficult to find a location within the room where we could read in comfort after dark. the other was the poor TV reception in the bedroom, with some channels being worse than others.
- Walters (10/5): A very relaxing weekend so much sight seeing to do the stables and staff very amazing - All of the stay really relaxing Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): - The breakfast was amazing, plenty of quality food. The room was outstanding, complete tranquillity. Both Simon and Alison were perfect hosts. We loved everything!!
- Robert (10/5): -
- Barry (10/5): Excellent - The staff was nice and polite
- Lee (10/5): Friendly, quiet and welcoming - The Old Stables is in a quiet rural location but still within easy reach of local amenities and attractions. There is a village pub at the end of the driveway serving good honest food. Breakfast was fabulous and plenty fully.
- Anthony (9/5): Wonderful setting, excellent accommodation and generous hosts. - Very good breakfast and facilities. Very clean and attentive with great personalities.
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful stay - We had a truly wonderful stay with Aly and Simon. Their bed and breakfast is beautifully designed and perfectly located in the heart of the English countryside. We stayed in the Granary Room, which was spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped – the bed was excellent, and the bathroom was lovely. Breakfast was a delicious traditional English spread, enjoyed by the warmth of the wood-burning stove – such a treat on a chilly winter’s morning! Aly and Simon are incredibly friendly and attentive hosts, and a special mention goes to Jack, their adorable golden retriever puppy, who completely stole our hearts.
- Sally (10/5): -
- Paula (10/5): thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend - Quiet location, beautiful rural property, with parking adjacent and a good pub and eatery within walking distance.
Spacious and comfortable room, spotlessly clean with some lovely finishing touches. Friendly hosts, breakfast excellent and plenty of refreshments available in our room. the room was a little cool on our first morning as the outside temperatures dropped but this was addressed straight away and the rest of our stay was lovely and warm
- Jenny (10/5): Wonderful stay in a lovely home - Beautiful building and rooms

Comfortable beds very clean room with everything you need and more! Loved having bath and shower
Lots of tea options and shortbread!
Hosts very friendly lovely people
Good pub 5 minute walk away.
Easy to find place easy to park
Lovely quiet location Was a little noise from kitchen below in morning but only noticeable because of how quiet and peaceful the place is generally.

- Barbara (10/5): The heart of this B&B is Alyson and Simon whose talents have created a wonderful environment. - Alyson & Simon are two lovely hosts that have worked very hard to create a very special B&B that you cannot help but fall in love with. It's a place that just wraps itself around you and gives you a hug which makes you quickly feel relaxed and at home. There are so many little touches that set The Old Stables apart from the rest. Quiet, clean, comfortable with superb breakfasts beautifully cooked and so well presented. Simon's bacon and Alison's scrambled eggs are superb. A real benchmark for all B&B breakfasts. It's very obvious they put a lot of care into choosing their ingredients and you can certainly taste it. Huge Thankyou to Alison and Simon for creating a B&B experience that others should aspire to. All the best from Jeff & Barbara We didn't book for long enough

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Old Stable Bed and Breakfast, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality that instantly made me feel at home.
The setting is beautifully peaceful, with charming surroundings that reflect the perfect countryside escape. My room was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, and incredibly comfortable—every detail felt thoughtfully arranged to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Breakfast each morning was a real treat—fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care. It was the perfect start to the day, served in a cozy dining area that added to the homely feel of the place.
What truly sets The Old Stable apart is the personal touch. The hosts were not only friendly and attentive but went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable and stress-free.

- Maria (10/5): Amazing Christmas stay - The Old Stables is an absolutely beautiful bed & breakfast. You can tell Simon and Aly have put all their heart into this place. Every detail and corner of the barn has been purposely thought through. The atmosphere is so relaxing and heartwarming! I would have loved to stay longer. The breakfast was the best English breakfast I have ever had! I also loved how welcoming they are of dogs. My little mini schnauzer was so happy exploring the place :)
We stayed the weekend before Christmas and that only added to the charm of the place.
- Aj (10/5): Exceptional - The whole stay was exceptional. Very warm welcome, amazing room and facilities. Breakfast could not be faulted. Nothing. The whole stay was brilliant.

- Jonathan (10/5): Top notch example of what a B&B should be - Everything. Aly, Simon and Jasper were wonderful hosts. They were welcoming and cooked the most delicious breakfast with lots of options. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. 10/10. Nothing. It's a brilliant place to stay.
- Patricia (10/5): Excellent ….just perfect. - Everything was supplied …if not you only had to ask.
Nothing seemed to be a problem for our hosts.
Home from home …we felt most welcome. Nothing in our opinion.
Could find no faults.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Wonderful - Truly amazing hosts, fabulous barn conversion, majestic driveway, green fields, hearty breakfast and quaint nearby towns and villages. Local inns and pubs offer fabulous food in charming venues.
Loved every minute. Nothing
- Mike (9/5): A wonderful stay in a dream location. - A wonderful stay. Our hosts were very hospitable and gave us a lovely welcome. The breakfast was amazing and set us up well for our day. Nothing - everything was perfect.
- Jm (10/5): Lovely place, warm welcome and excellent breakfast - The breakfast was exceptional and there was a warm welcome from Aly and Simon. They provided ordinary milk and a fridge, which we much preferred to those little sachets. They didn't clean the room every day during our stay (since COVID times) but were happy to replace anything as requested. The shortbread biscuits left in the room were lovely and the room itself was beautiful. I didn't realise until the third day of our stay that I could have requested clean mugs and towels, but that was my fault for not reading the welcome pack!
- Matthew (10/5): Wonderful experience, sets the bar high - An immaculate barn conversion, full of warmth and character. Alyson and Simon were very welcoming along with their friendly retriever Jasper. Great attention to detail and such thoughtful hospitality. The breakfast was a 3-course feast, cooked English exceptional and highly recommended.
- Judith (10/5): VERY ENJOYABLE AND FANTASTIC HOSTS - We enjoyed everything about the place. The little added extras in the room, THE BREAKFASTS were amazing and the hosts Ally and Simon were fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble and they also took an interest in what was on your agenda for the day. Well worth the money and would definitely stay again if in the area. There was nothing that you couldn't like about this property. If I was pushed, it is a little remote so if you're one who likes more hustle and bustle it won't be for you.
- Tim (10/5): Fabulous b&b in a great location. - We loved the location, warm welcome, hospitality, superb breakfast, and lovely accommodation. Nothing.
- Malcolm (10/5): Amazing gem. We are so glad we found The Old Stables. - An outstanding bed and breakfast accommodation. Everything surpassed our expectations from the very warm welcome from Aly, Simon and Jasper; followed by the beautiful room (fully equipped plus more). What can we say about breakfast …. utterly amazing quality and choice of food. Nothing

- David (9/5): Superb -
- Susanna (10/5): Exceptional - We have never felt so welcomed in a B&B before - thank you Alyson and Simon (and of course Jasper) for making our stay so wonderful. We especially appreciated the small recommendations they gave us when they asked about our plans for the day.
The breakfast is amazing. You order the night before and can choose from Englisch breakfast, pancakes, waffles ... everything freshly prepared.

And if anyone is worried about being around Jasper the dog… as someone who is a bit afraid of dogs, I felt absolutely safe around Jasper, who is such a well behaved dog. We loved it.
