Darren (8/5): Nice place in a beautiful city. - Good location with a great view. Nice decor. Friendly staff. Room was not a cave but a separate building on a main footpath so lost of people walking past with suitcases or trollies banging on the steps next to the headboard of the bed. Advice for anybody else staying to contact hotel first to work out best route to walk with cases avoiding all the steps - DON’T RELY ON MAPPING APPS!

Peter (9/5): Lovely room, great staff and great location (provided you don’t mind some walking) - Great location for most of the Sassi areas and had a genuine “cave experience” feel in our room and in the dining room. The staff were so friendly and helpful too. Breakfast was a wider Italian assortment and cooked breakfasts were available at extra cost. Would have liked tea/coffee making in our room and a small sofa would have easily fitted in the room to make our stay even more comfortable.

Lauren (10/5): An amazing hotel in Matera, fantastic rooms and breakfast - 10/10 would recommend! - The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with a great location, attentive and welcoming staff and great attention to detail. On arrival we were offered recommendations for restaurants in the area, refreshment drinks, we were even collected from the nearest piazza with an umbrella due to the slight drizzle! Our room was amazing - it had a huge built in bathtub, which is so large it’s really more of a plunge pool! I’d definitely recommend requesting this room if possible, but given how amazing all the parts of the hotel we saw were, I’d guess all the rooms are likely to be great! They’ve managed to get the balance between that “cave-like” experience you want in Matera, without anything feeling closed in or claustrophobic just right. The included breakfast was probably the best we had during our whole trip. Everything was homemade and fresh with a fantastic range of options to choose from! Absolutely nothing

Stephan (9/5): - Das Zimmer war sehr neuwertig und schön, das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, konnte von zu Hause aus ein Frühstück und Blumenstrauß für meiner Frau ihren Geburtstag organisieren. Die Lage ist direkt in der Sassi am Berg oben, Matera ist sensationell. Eine Massage war innerhalb 30 Minuten nach der Bestellung schon am Zimmer, sehr freundliche Dame. Danke Luca und Ciciara für die Unterstützung. Es war leider bei unserer Ankunft kalt in unserem Zimmer, 16 Grad, wurde durch einen Heizungsreset aber schnell behoben. Die Steinwände brauchen eine Zeit lang bis sie warm werden.

Christophe (1/5): CATASTROPHE !!! - RiIEN ! Sauf le pauvre porteur de valise !!!!! Arrivés comme prévu par Google Maps dans zone ZTLmais...Hotel n'a pas pris en charge l'enregistrement de l'accès à la zone,donc 100 € d'amende. Parking privé mais non !!!!à 1,7 km avec navette et taxi au retour 45 €. Chambre en annexe avec vue...sur un pilier !!!!!! 46 longues marches en bas de la réception ! Pas de TV en panne, mais que nous! Du sable plein le lit qui tombait régulièrement du plafond qui gratte bien( je l'ai fait constater par la femme de chambre) , la climatisation fait un bruit infernal !!!! on nous promet une solution mais rien de rien aucun retour malgré un appel . Petit déjeuner avec œufs brouillés posés sur un plat froid, pas de pain, minable pour un 4 *. Au départ on a le toupet de nous demander pourquoi on ne s'est pas plaint plus tôt!!!! Pour le prix refusez les annexes "toutes neuves" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paragraphe plus haut !

Mathieu (6/5): Spektakuläre Lage, mittelmäßige Erfahrung - Großartige Lage in den Sassi, Zimmer mit bestem Blick über Matera. Ansprechendes, wenn auch kleines Zimmer. Gute Matratze. Okayes Frühstück. Gutes Abendessen. Angebliche Junior Suite war sehr klein. Klimaanlage kann nur von der Rezeption gesteuert werden (was man uns aber erst beim Auschecken sagte). WLAN funktionierte einen Tag lang nicht, auf Nachfrage kam keine Antwort. Teilweise unfreundlicher Rezeptionist. Preis rechtfertigt sich nur durch Lage, nicht durch Zimmerausstattung oder Service.

THIERRY (10/5): Magnifique - J'ai séjourné récemment au Palazzo Del Duca Hotel & Restaurant, et je ne peux que recommander cet établissement. Martina, membre de l'équipe, nous a donné d'excellentes informations sur Matera, ce qui a enrichi notre expérience. L'accueil de l'équipe a été exceptionnellement chaleureux et professionnel. Nous avons également eu la chance de séjourner dans une chambre magnifique, spacieuse et magnifiquement décorée. L'atmosphère de l'hôtel est à la fois accueillante et élégante. Une excellente adresse pour découvrir Matera!

The property is both beautiful and unique, with an amazing location right in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The staff were extremely polite and helpful throughout our visit. Breakfast served in the atmospheric restaurant cave was absolutely outstanding, and we also loved enjoying drinks and dinner on the terrace overlooking the Sassi — an unforgettable experience.
Alexandra (10/5): - Nos quedamos en una suite muy amplia con una decoración espectacular, cama muy cómoda, las lámparas hermosas, ambiente tranquilo y ubicado en el sassi, el desayuno estuvo fabuloso en un restaurante en una cueva, un hotel impresionante.
Vincenzo Ignazio (8/5): - Il ristorante, abbiamo ordinato 2 piatti di agnello ed era estremamente salato, non siamo riusciti a mangiarlo x quanto salato, non l’hanno tolto dal conto e neppure offerti di rifare il piatto. Al momento del Ceck out l’ho fatto presente e ancora niente. Con una tipologia di hotel come questa avrei pensato ad un trattamento differente. Per tutto il resto molto buono.

OliverSalt (4/5): Il y a loin du rêve à la réalité... - Dormir dans les sassis, dans une chambre troglodyte. L'idée d'un jacuzzi dans la chambre...mais de l'idée à la réalité... Chaleur trop importante dans la chambre avec une climatisation qui concrètement ne servait à rien. Humidité importante probablement liée au jacuzzi. Douche sans protection visuelle : pas d'intimité possible. L'eau du jacuzzi ne sentait pas vraiment le "chlore" ni le "propre"...et elle était plutôt tiedasse... La lumière extérieure passe allègrement par la porte d'entrée : si vous y êtes sensible, dès 6h du matin, vous serez réveillé... Les bruits extérieurs passent autant que la lumière puisque la chambre donne directement sur la ruelle. Là encore, à moins d'un sommeil de plomb, les bruits vous reveillerons et de toute façon on entend le moteur extérieur de la clim (qui ne sert à rien...). La porte de la chambre date du moyen âge avec une clef de 15 cm qu'il faut rendre à la réception vu l'encombrement. Difficultés pour ouvrir et fermer. Enfin, le petit déjeuner : comme d'habitude en Italie, les jus de fruits sont le pire du pire du supermarché (=poudres aromatisées dégoûtantes). Le café a le goût du caoutchouc brûlé : j'imagine qu'il s'agit encore d'un "premier prix"... Bref, tout ça pour une somme/nuit qui représente beaucoup...pour peu de chose et une nuit très difficile pour accéder au sommeil.
