Guest Reviews
- Guest (7/5): What can I say hotel is being renovated - There was no breakfast hotel being renovated. Hotel was being renovated
- Zimmerman (8/5): -
- Cathy (8/5): - Bed was comfortable. Location fantastic. Nice owner. Wish bathroom had a tub
- Derek (10/5): -
- Svendsen (8/5): - Friendly staff, location to beach. I only stayed one night and the TV did not work and the fridge had an overwhelming fish smell, but a quick trip to the office and the maintenance man was there with fresh batteries for the remote and washed the fridge from top to bottom, he went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant.
- Ayscue (5/5): - I was charged two times Being over charged
- Catherine (4/5): - It was available on a holiday weekend but it was rundown and didn't have hand towels, wash clothes or tissues.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Chose to stay here because it was close to the beach
- Christopher (10/5): - I like the fact that's it has a key for the room, and not a card.
- jerry (6/5): - 0
- Scottie (10/5): - This is an old hotel but very clean and staff is very polite and helpful. It was very quiet. Park right at your room so very nice. Restsuarnts close by. Pool waa great. Not far from beach. Reasonable priced for steps from the beach. Bathroom and showerr was very small but clean.
- Marilyn (6/5): - It was alright
- Lee (7/5): -
- Barnes (7/5): My stay is always good at the sandpiper motel we stay there all the time and it has come a long way - The proximity of the actual beach How small the bathrooms are
- Edwin (4/5): - Gotten a smaller bed then what I’ve paid for booked a queen and gotten a full , bed sheets has cigarette holes in them.
- Mike (8/5): - The motel is very convenient. Two blocks from public beach access. And four or five blocks from the Circle. It's old, but clean. And was very quiet.
- Maria (7/5): - 7 minute walk to the beach. Locks on the doors felt unreliable
- gregory (8/5): - Easy to get to. Good access.
- Steve (6/5): - Staff helpful. Bed not the best, bedspread dirty. Pool was ok. Location good.
- Philip (10/5): Solo fishing trip - Wanted a quick overnight solo fishing trip without breaking the bank. This little hotel was great for that! Not the ritz by any means but was clean with Friendly staff.
- Kevin (10/5): - Desk clerk was friendly and atmosphere was inviting. Location was quiet and relaxing. Newly upgraded facility. Will return again to this location.
- Laura (4/5): - I love the location of this property but for the price we paid, next time I will pay a little extra and drive a little farther to go to a place that I know is newer and will be clean. The bathroom was a repair mess of slapping lipstick on a pig, exposed seams buckling at the edges of some wall repairs (I took pictures if you want them). The place still had carpet which is probably why the musty moldy smell was so strong. I checked the filter in the AC and that was clean (small bonus) With all the other conditions I was actually worried about bed bugs so we slept on top of the comforter in hopes that, if they were there, they might not get us through all the fabric. The smell was a little better when we left the door open but we could not sleep exposed like that. I'm still having sneezing fits a week later. Sorry will not return
- David (10/5): Felt like home away from home - What a great place we will be back!
- Guest (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Blessed because you can’t put a price tag on a pie - Greatest staff I have ever encountered. I travel a lot for work & I stay in places all across this country. Not the newest place but we were here for the Beach. We will be coming back see you next year.
- Freda (8/5): - The hotel was dated, but clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and everything in the room was in good working order. Good value for the price.
- Misty (4/5): - Is was not clean. We wore shoes in the shower. And there were people smoking on the balcony and it was going in our room.
- Alice (4/5): - There is not a good hand hold for the stairs in one area. I was holding onto a piece of wood and it came off in my hand. I almost fell down the stairs.
- chris (6/5): - Ok 4 the money if your there to enjoy the beach vibe
- Herschol (2/5): - Room wasn’t ready at checking time. Things were left in refrigerator and personal items in bathroom. Only old key locks for rooms and some tried to open my door at midnight. They had a key. Luckily I had the chain and doorstop on. Worst hotel through orbits I’ve ever stayed at.
- Jessica (10/5): - It was very close to the beach and the staff was great it just needs to be updated.
- Oksana (9/5): Superb - Great hotel! Clean and close to the beach!
- William (10/5): - Neat hotel! The lady works there is very nice
- Peyton (3/5): Poor - Location was great. Bathroom was dirty the towels were stained and so was the bedding. Hair dryer was broken and didn't think we had hot water until we figured out you had to only turn on the hot water for it to get hot.
- Mary (2/5): We were not happy at all. For the $225.00 we paid was not worth it. Not a happy customer. - Nothing The room was awful. Beds were in a disarray. No wifi. If there was we were never informed. No phone to call front desk. Was too tired to go downstairs.
Bathroom was not clean . Had piece of soap on the shelf in shower. The worst part was at 5 o’clock am. We were unable to shower didn’t know how to work shower. I tried and so did my husband. Need to have instructions.. Didn’t have phone in room to call. Plus shouldn’t or wouldn’t have to do that. So we left.
- Anonymous (2/5): Very poor - No breakfast The room was old, not very clean, not enough towels. But it was one of the few available and very inexpensive. I'm glad I will not be coming this way again soon.
- Ben (10/5): - This is an aging facility but it's still going and hanging in there. Still needs continuous renovations and better linens. However, it is priced accordingly and affordable compared to other choices in the area so that's a win.
- Hollie D (8/5): - It's definitely an older place & very basic, but it was clean & comfortable enough. The man at check-in was very kind & friendly. It does have a small microwave & refrigerator, which was not mentioned in the description I had read about it. Bring your own hangers if you want to hang things up.
- Ronald (8/5): - Coffee maker didn't work
- Lee (7/5): Good -
- Latoya (8/5): - It where everything is
- Lewis (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sean (6/5): - As advertised. 2 star hotel. Front desk was very friendly.
- Adrienne (6/5): - It was nice for the price but only the hot water worked in the bathroom sink and bathroom was REALLY SMALL. Workers were nice and helpful though.
- Kimberly (2/5): - This was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed! It smelled funky and the shower curtain! There was a rusty baking pan being used as a tray under the coffee maker. Some dirty stain on one of the bedspreads, the floor was nice new tile in a dark plank style but it was filthy! I took a dry towel to the floor to get sand and dirt pushed to doorway and wet a bath towel to push around to clean floor which made towel the color of coffee! It looks nothing like the pictures! I can handle old and out dated places, but lack of cleaning, and upkeep on a regular basis is not what I expected to get for $250.00 a night!!!
- Tracey (8/5): - Enjoyed our stay. Just what we needed
- Debra (4/5): - The room smelled of cleaning product, bathroom had a terrible smell also.
- Jennifer (2/5): - Needs a lot of work and cleaning .
- Amanda (2/5): - Mold, blood on blanket, bad smells every where, soap made of plastic.
- krista (2/5): - Didn’t stay here more than 5 mins! Dirty sheets and towels. Air conditioner leaked and had a tray to catch the water that slowed dripped down the wall by the electrical outlet. Oh and there was a dead cockroach on the bathroom floor. Absolutely gross!!
- Sommers (2/5): Very poor - not much just about everything
- Betty (7/5): Good -
- Kitty (6/5): Pleasant -
- Wendy (1/5): It was terrible and felt like things where crawling one me all night, maybe slept 1 hour - Nothing except it was in a convenient location Dirty, a/c didn’t work , fridge was broken, the pool tile cut the other person in the pool, he needed stitches
- Christopher (4/5): - The restroom had a lot of hair in it, very long hairs that wouldn't be hard to miss. The carpet wasn't clean either, I drop an unopened brevege on the ground and when I picked it up; there were many hairs on it from different people.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Close to the beach! - The owners were incredibly nice. Quick check-in, short walk to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay! The ONLY thing that bothered me was the carpet in the room. It was definitely very old and dirty. It didn’t impact our stay, we just wore our shoes inside.
- Anayely (7/5): Good - Good location, front desk picked up even at late hours. The rooms specially the floors need some deep cleaning, can’t walk barefoot.
- Matt (2/5): If that's all you can afford, bring a tent. - I stayed in 220, and it would get 1 star if the bed weren't so comfortable. However, when I woke up after the first night (7/3-7/4) I had 6 bites on my right leg from whatever was in that mattress. I had the room for 3 nights (7/3-7/5) but did not return after the first night. Also, the room next to me was a smoking room and every time he lit up (and he stayed up all night, I finally left around 3 am to go to the Oceana pier) I smelled it. The bathroom was nastier than a prison shower, and was oddly shaped (narrow but deep). I did not return the key until the morning of the 6th, however, because I didn't want him rebooking that room and doubling his money. Read my sentence for more.
- kristal (8/5): - c
- Shannon (8/5): Very good - The front desk was very kind and helpful. They have coffee, fridge, microwave, and a nice pool. The rooms are old and have a bit of an oder, but they are clean.
- Danny (8/5): - We woke up and decided it was a beach day. Most of our visits are long so we book in advance for a longer stay. This is a perfect place for a night or two and a place to rest your head. Glad we chose it! For an older motel, its just what we needed for a day at the beach.
Its a couple of short blocks from the beach (4 minute walk), its clean, very friendly staff, and everything you need for food and fun is in walking distance including a pier. Definitely will use this place again for those random overnight trips.
- Jhony (8/5): Very good -
- Sommers (3/5): SANDPIPER 1 STAR SPECIAL - the room smelled of foul cleaning fluids, im sure the a/c filter hasnt been changed or cleaned in some time, the mattress was so soft n unsupportive it hurt my back, no hot water . . .. see above
- Matthew (8/5): Perfect place for a single traveler who just needs a place to shower and lay down at night. I will book it again for sol - Just steps away from the beach! Price was good compared to other places. The room had a little bit of a smoky smell but I was traveling alone and it didn’t bother me much with the very little time I was in the room. Comforter had a cigarette burn in it, but I had my own pillows and blankets.
- Antonio (9/5): Superb -
- Jeff (9/5): Superb -
- Joshua (4/5): Great location, great manager up front, but rooms are extremely small no room for more than two adults. - Location is nice, right off the Atlantic bridge. About 12 minutes from big rock landing in Morehead, 20 minutes from radio island. Bought sheets and blankets while at the beach, ones in the room were stained, tv remote didn’t work, had to manually change it. Have a physical key for each room instead of a room key.
- Jessie (10/5): - It was nice enough for fishing
- Starla (8/5): - Got the family room with 3 queen beds. It was very clean and conveniently located. The front desk persons were very friendly. Our only problem was a sleepless night due to a broken ac unit in the room. If they can fix it, I'd definitely recommend this for an easy, economical beach stay.
- William (10/5): - It was one of the nicer plces ives stayed
- Amanda (10/5): - Price and location
- Jane (10/5): - Owners friendly and helpful. Only 3 blocks to ocean. Salt water pool was cool and clean.
- Eric (8/5): - Great location. Pleasant stay. Thank you
- Eric (8/5): - Thank you
- Jason (8/5): - Loved that it was so close to the public beach access. (Walking distance honestly). The owners were easy to.deal with and very nice. Clean place for an older hotel
- John (2/5): - Room smelled of extreme dampness and cigarette smoke from people smoking outside the room. Old and outdated is an understatement.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointed - This is definitely a "no frills" establishment, which we knew when making the reservation. It would have been a good weekend for using the pool, BUT it was obvious the pool hadn't been cleaned since last summer season and there were TONS of bugs floating, dead on top of the water. The room was clean on the surface but definitely has mold hiding somewhere possibly under the newer carpet. All 3 of us had issues with breathing throughout the night but never when we weren't in the room. A plus... you can't hear voices or anything even with no vacancy but the unit above us had kids who ran back and forth for 2 hours (8:30-10:30 pm) (the room isn't even that big for running that much). When we called the front office after an hour of the pounding feet above us, we were told "to expect it from now until at least 12. there are no other rooms, so I can't move you" (we never wanted to be moved, nor asked to be moved). He never even offered to go by the room for us to say something to the adults (no phones in the room, so he really wasn't going to bother going to their door.)
- John (10/5): - Ocean walk
- Keith (10/5): - Always a pleasant stay, even during a tropical storm!
- Brenda (7/5): Good -
- Robert (6/5): - No frill economical place to stay. No complaints.
- Robert (4/5): Unfavorable stay for our anniversary. - I would not recommend this place to anyone. Too many issues to list. Look further and this is not the one.
- cynthia (10/5): - I will definitely go back
- Ruth (6/5): - Emailed property about pool status, no response and pool was not functioning when we arrived. Very disappointing.
- Pennie M (2/5): - Stayed 8/11-14 paid $423.75. Upon check in, I requested when pool would be available & was informed 8/12. I requested money off if not available since it is an amenity I paid for, to which Dave Ratia offered $20 off per night. But, first he informed me "There's an ocean" and I shared how unacceptable that statement was. I also agreed & offered to pay full price for rest of days if/when pool is ready. Upon checkout, I told Dave the AC doesn't work. He expressed his lack of awareness of the matter (of any issues with the facility), and wanted to know why i "stay 3 days and now something". Unbeknownst to him, the night of 8/12, multiple guests sat outside their rooms bonding over the many different issues in rooms, almost all complaining of the AC concerns.I did not think the AC would be a continual problem, but was hopeful the pool would help us cool off. There wasn't one time we saw anyone working on the pool, and it was definitely not ready at checkout 8/14. After Dave's unprofessional comments, without holding any accountability for his facility, he began making comments of "you people" and continued insulting me with stating how Im trying to get a free stay & I needed to leave. I informed him that I would leave the office once I've taken all my notes of this experience and obtained all legal information possible to report this. He called the local authorities since I would not leave the cold office with a fan but by the time they arrived I had already left his "office" due
- Andrey (3/5): Poor - smoky room.. my wife and I don't smoke so for us it was difficult to tolerate this smell
- JERRY (6/5): - not your high end location, more for budget family or just need a place to rest. mom and pop owned type of location don't expect a lot but other than that great location to all around area.
- William (1/5): It was a dump. - Location. Had a roof and running water. Poor shape. In disrepair (toilet was not connected to floor and wobbled when you sat on it, AC dripping and they had buckets under it to catch water, broken towel rack). No amenities like countertops electrical outlets. Bed was cheap and uncomfortable. Dirty stove, fan, light didn’t work. The only clothes hanger was a rusty nail.
- Tracy (3/5): fine if you have low standards. I went in thinking that I wasn’t gonna spend much time in the room anyways but the fact - Right near the beach Smell of the room was horrible. Very outdated rooms.
- Stacy (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and so nice.
- Amanda (10/5): I enjoyed my time there and had plenty of room - The 3 beds made enough room for my family of 6 to sleep comfortably in one room.
- charles (2/5): - bugs bugs bugs bugs and smelled like bugs spray
- Anita (6/5): - Short walk to the beach, clean like but just outdated. Very basic stay for low cost.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't stay here. - Three words-Don't stay here. Nasty place, smelled moldy, dirty, bathroom was atrocious, rusty pipes and all plumbing hanging out of the wall. Sink so small you couldn't wash your hands without soaking the floor. Could have cried when first seeing the room. A drunk fell down the steps as we went to room. At two AM a loud, drunk, obnoxious woman and her two men decided to be philosophical outside our window. No answer when we called office to complain. Husband wanted to confront them but this is how todays headlines are made so thankfully he didn't. Horrible experience. The only saving grace was the 4 Corners Diner where we had a most awesome breakfast wth the sweetest waitress ever. Went back for dinner and had another wonderful waitress.
- Stacy (10/5): - Love how it was a straight shot to the beach
- Ronnie (10/5): repeat customer - An excellent place to stay with great value and close to beach
- Micki (6/5): - Fairly clean and inexpensive. The bathroom sink was falling from the wall. The pool looked like it was filled with green pea soup but we were two blocks from the beach so not the biggest deal.
- Richardson (7/5): Good -
- Andrea (1/5): Gross. I refused to even touch the bed. - The location. It was horrible otherwise. The bathroom door was covered in mold. It was super gross. The bedding was damp and had mold. Roaches dead on the floor.
