Guest Reviews
- John Ronald Closter (10/5): This was our fourth time staying at McCloud House and hopefully will stay again in the future. - Lovely continental breakfast was supplied bonus was home cooked biscuits and sweets plus a beautiful bottle of red wine.
Bed and pillows super comfortable all facilities provided to stay and cook your own meals and lovely touch flowers provided for a great bath. Absolutely nothing
- SUSAN (10/5): -
- Ewing (10/5): - Location and character
- Derek (10/5): Great location, welcoming host and pleasant/comfortable surroundings. - The location could not be better for shops, restaurants and bars. In addition, being opposite the beach provides spectacular views and a calming atmosphere.
- Christine (9/5): - We had a wonderful stay here. The accommodation was beautiful, very clean, and incredibly comfortable. Everything was well thought out and made for a relaxing experience. The location was great and the whole place had such a welcoming feel. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others.
- Matthew (10/5): Perfect couldn’t ask for more!! - Great location, we loved the apartment and Deb our host was really helpful we would love to stay again.
- Leslie (10/5): -
- Suzy (10/5): Luxuries and location! - This accommodation was perfect for a cosy night of luxury. We felt thoroughly spoilt by the host's thoughtful provisions. The bed and bath were enormous (rose petals a lovely touch) and provided food yummy (proper loose leaf tea in an antique caddy..perfection)
The little touches of vintage furnishings, accessories and books were extra delights.
The location, of course is fabulous - even with the wild and woolly weather, we enjoyed spectacular beach walks as well as watching the rainbows and storm clouds from the comfort of apartment.
- Sue (9/5): -
- Rae (10/5): Perfect - Everything was perfect and Deb made sure we felt very welcome. It was even better than the photos and description suggested. I didn't like having to leave 😂
- michael (9/5): It was a masterful communication with the host Deb. She was thoughtful, generous and helpful. - The location was great and the view and the balcony were excellent The decor was a little old and bed and pillows could have been a little comfortable. Outside area could do with some work.
- Janna (9/5): Exceeded expectations, location, views, claw foot bath - Deb the hostess was lovely. The photos don’t do the place justice - it was a beautiful studio. The virw from the balcony was so lovely(to the ocean), and the bathroom was gorgeous. The guest gifts, home made biscuits and basic supplies were appreciated. Full sized fridge/freezer. A skip yo the beach - fantastic ☺️ The yard is a bit untidy but that doesn’t redlect on the rooms. The bed was firm, comfortable enough. I think nice crisp white linen would be really lovely.
- Grant (10/5): Definitely will back again! - Comfortable and great views!!! Everything we needed was there ready to go and so much bigger than we imagined!
- Arjan (9/5): Wonderful, warm homey place on a perfect location. - Location location location! And… the host: warm, personal, charismatic. Even with self baked cookies. I loved it! The room was spacious and the kitchen was well stocked. Parking space is handy and safe. Would highly recommend! It felt a wee bit outdated. But that was also part of the charm. Apart from that maybe-argument, everything was just perfect!
- Debbie (9/5): What a fabulous spot! I would definitely stay again. Deb was a wonderful host! - Beautiful fittings, decor and style.
Loved the balcony. The location is great too. The car park area needs a little love - noting this is the first impression.
- Barry (10/5): -
- GraColz (10/5): beachside gem - the little things are the big things .. the welcoming pack and other thoughtful touches .. fantastic view from balcony and going to sleep to the sound of the ocean .. pleasant decor .. everything we needed for a pleasant stay .. lovely host .. checking out to come home
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely apartment with amazing views. - Lovely apartment. Very cozy with amazing views. Deb, our host was lovely and the little treats she provided were a lovely and thoughtful touch.
- Greg (10/5): Very relaxing! - Lovely property with deco period fittings and furniture.
Nothing was too much trouble with helpful notes left about and a follow up message after the first night enquiring if all is ok.
Thai restaurant and bar downstairs.
Great beachfront location opposite the jetty.
Short walk to hotel, cafes and good restaurants. Nil
- Ronald (10/5): - Food and drink supplied was generous and good variety.
The evening sunset seen from the balcony was magical. Nothing
- zeighami (9/5): - We had a wonderful 2-night stay! The location was perfect — close to everything we needed and in such a beautiful setting. The staff were incredibly lovely and welcoming. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well cared for. We’d definitely love to come back again! Just the parking area was a little tight
- Canonoy (10/5): Very happy with our stay at McCloud, Deb, everything. Highly recommended. Will definitely come back - Excellent customer service by Deb. Very accommodating of my special requests. A lot of treats/foods. Discount and info/menus from surrounding restaurants. Excellent location/walking distance to beach/jetty and restaurants.
- Carole (10/5): A truly lovely relaxing place to stay. Super clean and very welcoming feel. Felt like staying with family. - We were both blown away when we entered the property. It was what we were expecting and more. We immediately felt so at home and loved all the little touches and reminders of yesteryear. The most comfiest of beds to go with it. We did not cook dinner during our 3 night stay but the kitchen was so well equipped that we wish we had. Everything had been thought of. Wonderful communication from Deb before and during our stay. And we also got to meet Deb and Lee one morning and they also checked in with us if all was ok. The welcome wine and Anzac biscuits and chocolates were so appreciated. Walked along the newly built promenade a couple of times. It was our first time staying in this region and don’t think it will be our last. Absolutely nothing negative to say about McCloud House. Just wish we had stayed a little longer. Next time!!!
- Tony (10/5): Charming,character filled studio,excellent. -
- Michael (10/5): - Simply perfect
- Jairo (10/5): - We loved everything—the views, the location, and especially Deb’s thoughtful attention. All the little details, including the treats for my wife's birthday, made our stay extra special. Such an amazing place, truly a hidden gem in Port Noarlunga. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you so much, Deb! Nothing!!!
- Bruce (8/5): Very comfortable and convenient - Breakfast supply’s great complimentary package excellent loved rustic style
- Tricia (10/5): A wonderful stay in a beautiful place - McCloud House was fantastic. We absolutely loved our stay in the Beachview Room. The room was beautiful with everything that you could possibly need, plus some extra treats as part of the Romance Special that we booked. We were just blown away at the attention to detail, and the view from the room was awesome. Also, great communication from the host. I only wish we had booked another night to really make the most of the experience, but we will definitely come again.
- Erin (10/5): - Comfy and quirky in a great location 😀
- Rick (9/5): A very pleasant comfortable and relaxing stay in spacious, interesting and relaxing apartment. - Continental breakfast was simple but with good variety and quantity. Lots of other little treats like the bottle of bubbly, choccies, and biscuits, were all very much appreciated. There was nothing we could have asked for which was not provided. The apartment was filled with interesting furniture and features which gave it homeliness and charrm. All together a great stay. Cannot think of anything.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (10/5): Great weekend getaway - Perfect spot Property clean, spacious, warm and cozy
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Was super clean. Everything you needed was on hand. 20 meteres to the beach . Deb the host went above and beyond to make sure our stay was care free.
Would definitely recommend McCloud House 10 out of 10..
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christina (10/5): The best place to stay - Loved everything! The location was amazing. The accommodation was outstanding. The bed was perfect. The huge bath is sensational. . Not a fault
- Weber-smith (9/5): Seaside
serenity - Brilliant location, well stocked provisions, everything works, great but non-intrusive communication from the host, value for money, secure, cosy No reason to dislike anything
- Alastair (10/5): - Was very nice. Loved that everything from plates and cutlery to cooking facilities was provided. Would recommend to others. Complimentary chocolates and wine was nice Touch 👌
- Donald (9/5): Would be happy to stay again - Opposite the surf club and pier we had a small balcony overlooking the beach and sea it’s a unique property with lots of interesting history never been in accommodation quite the same.
Provided home cooked cookies and chocolates and a bottle of wine. All gold
- Susan (10/5): - Amazing views, spectacular accommodation. Lots of charm and very homely. Close to everything. Will definitely be back to stay again.
- De (8/5): Very good - Excellent location. Well equipped, spacious and comfortable apartment with lots of personal touches.
- Stacey (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, the balcony and beach view. The hosts thought about everything with beautiful thoughtful touches. Host were very friendly. Bed was comfortable, beautiful bathroom and house. The Thai restaurant down stairs was had great food and a lovely view. Will visit again in the future. Nothing.
- Liz (9/5): Can't wait to return - The location couldn't have been more perfect. Many good restaurants, bars and shops all a short stroll away. The beach literally could not have been closer. Despite the hustle and bustle of the area in summer it was surprisingly very quiet at night and I slept well in the very comfortable bed.The hosts were lovely and helpful, communication with Deb was easy. I'm 64 and would have struggled with my large bag up and down the steps to the apartment but Lee met me on arrival and departure to help. I stayed for a week and found the space was a bit cluttered. I would have preferred more space for my own things. Though the decor was charming the amount of "clutter" would not be to everyone's taste nor very practical. This certainly did not detract my wonderful stay, simply my personal opinion.
- Mark (10/5): - Perfect guest house stay located directly opposite the beach. Includes wonderful complimentary goodies & provisions. Very highly recommended !!
- Larissa (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay at McCloud House.
Deb, Julie and Bob were pleasant and welcoming, and they provided all I needed for my stay.
The house was so quiet, even though it’s on the Esplanade and there’s a constant flow of people walking along.
The view from the Beach View room was incredible! The ocean, the Jetty; I loved having my afternoon tea on the balcony.
To get to the beach, all I had to do was go downstairs, walk across the road, and I was there.
There were so many places to see at Port Noarlunga and surrounds, and they were all within walking distance of the property. You can walk from Christies Beach to the Onkaparinga River Mouth View Point, with a rest stop at McCloud House along the way.
The area is very friendly and I would love to visit again!
- Helen (10/5): Amazing location and great facilities, a very relaxing stay and can’t wait to go back! - So close to the water you could here the waves hitting the shore at night Nothing , it was beautiful
- Terrence (6/5): A disappointing stay. - Deceptive advertising by booking.com because we had a room with a balcony overlooking a car park. And the place was very dated. Yet the advert said rooms with a view and all pictures showed the ocean. The balcony was not covered and with blustery winds/rain/blazing sun we could not sit out there and had to sit in the room whenever we were home. We travelled all the way from Queensland to enjoy a stay at this seaside home and we were really disappointed with the whole experience. The hosts were good and they were helpful when needed. However we felt let down by booking.com who did not advertise the place correctly. And the booking was totally overpriced. A part refund should be considered.
- Mares (9/5): Superb - Great position and so well looked after by Deb.
- Pamela (8/5): Very good -
- Cherilee (10/5): - A whimsical and relaxing staycation in the beautiful seaside location of Port Noarlunga. We absolutely adored the decor, the history of McCloud House and really enjoyed the large bath, breakfast supplies
and thoughtful goodies of wine, chocolate and homemade Anzac cookies.
We can't wait to return to enjoy the stunning sunsets 🌞
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daryl (7/5): Location - Location Old and tired yet for those who like antiques it was ok. Parts needed renovations
- Vanessa (10/5): - Liked everything.
Didnt dislike anything.
- Lachie (10/5): - Just a great combination for a relaxing and easeful experience - I kept to myself but was confident Deb and the crew were available if I needed anything beyond the well supplied accommodation. Looking forward to staying again in the future!
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Lucie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful stay, very comfortable and friendly landlady, we loved absolutely everything about our stay. If we have a chance, we will be back. Thank you for having us.
- Chris (10/5): Sublime - Elegant and quaint, beautifully appointed from the crockery to the towels to the bed, fabulous position, and Deb gives you the most delightful and thoughtful kind welcome you could hope for.
- James (10/5): recommend to any couple - position in the town was excellent, walking distance to all cafe and bars, very comfortable apartment should have picked room with sea view😊,all good
- Kali (9/5): Loved it - quirky, thoughtful touches, comfortable beachside 🫶 - The location is amazing but the nooks within the space like the library, bathtub and the balcony made it a stand out place for us.
The whole place + experience easily outdid our expectations.
- Strangar (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (10/5): Old world charm - Fireplace for cosy winters. Filtered coffee, cereals. Old world charm
Whimsical decorations. The shower. Recliners. Tv on pivot. Very comfy bed. Proximity to bars restaurants and beach. Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent position Nothing
- wendy (10/5): - Amazing hotel right across from the beach, in fact any closer and you would be in the water. You do not have to bring a thing as it is all there for you. They even had bubble bath ready to use for the bath. The owners are wonderful people ready to share their knowledge. Super clean and loads of restraunts in the area, you do not have to leave. Will be staying there again.
- Kellie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): - Friendly people. Great location. Different
- Shari (10/5): It's such a great spot I almost didn't want to provide a rating so others wouldn't book it up! -
- Dianne (9/5): Great apartment in a great location with a lovely view over the hills. - Location was excellent with the beach and walkway across the road and several dining options and cafes within a short walking distance.
Loved the decor - very vintagey!
Host was attentive and the anzac biscuits were a nice bonus!
Easy access with a code and no key required.
Breakfast supplies of cereal and toast were great. Everything was good - maybe need to supply a hairdryer.
- Kath (10/5): Fantastic location and absolutely beautiful accommodation - The house and location are beautiful, and so peaceful It was all great
- Garry (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice spot. Clean, well equipped apartment. Breakfast stuff was provided. Lots of restaurant choices near by. Off street parking. We had an EV, and it was no problem to plug in to the property. Will definitely go back. Nothing really.
- Samrat (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Very comfortable accommodation at a nice beachside location. Had stayed there before. - Spacious room with comfortable chairs and nice bed. Large bathroom. The TV reception on channel 7 was terrible for the football.
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (10/5): Super views - Great position, lovely period furniture, good sized room Car park small and not all the guests parked considerately. Would help if the old unused toyota was removed
- Marko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (10/5): McCloud House is a delightful place for a beachside holiday, that invokes memories of times past. - The property is a very quaint guesthouse right on the beachfront at Port Noarlunga. Inside was tastefully decorated in a very original style. We stayed in the studio with views over the mountains from a small deck. The bathroom was spacious with a double walk in shower.
We were met by the owner on arrival and found a lovely local bottle of local wine and fresh biscuits waiting for us inside. There was also tea, coffee, milk and sufficient breakfast cereal for our 4 day stay. The location was fantastic, with everything we needed within a short walk. The beach at Port Noarlunga is quite spectacular with plenty of safe swimming options available. Snorkelling and diving on the reef is readily accessible from the jetty. Overall a great place for a short holiday. There was nothing obvious that needed improvement.
- David (9/5): Very comfortable and perfect location - Perfect location, everything we needed for breakfast and a comfortable stay n/a
- Natália (10/5): Cozy - The room was super clean and organized. We felt like home.
- Tania (9/5): We loved staying at McCleod house we will definitely be back - The property was cosy I loved the bath and the fire . We had everything we needed . Thanks for the wine and cookies too. Nothing
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Marko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonie (8/5): We loved our stay and would happily recommend McCloud House for a unique experience. - I loved all the little thoughtful touches like the Christmas card, cake and decorations, the jug of cold water in the fridge and the bottle of wine.
And the location was amazing - right across the road from the pier. The venetian blinds didn’t do a great job of keeping the light out.
- Marita (10/5): My stay was comfortable and so close to my family I was with each day - Breakfast was great,so was the location. There is nothing I can think of.
- William (10/5): - It is a very eclectic and period property that grows on you the longer you stay.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Great location, easy access to cafes and local boutiques and right across the road from the most beautiful beach. Close to river and national park walks. Host was lovely and friendly. Accommodation very comfortable and charming with everything you could need plus more, such as, a bottle of wine, mentos, anzac biscuits. Parking was crampt and accesss in and out during the restaurant (down stairs) business hours was tricky.
Stairs and landing leading into the quest accommodation was a trip hazard.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Felt like a home away from home, only nicer. Cosy, comfortable, good view of beach, great bath, good range of breakfast options, nice wine and homemade biscuits on arrival. Short walk to beach and dining out options. Would've loved to stay longer.

- Julie (9/5): Superb -
- Leanne (10/5): - Stayed in the Heritage room, it was lovely. Especially enjoyed the gas fire which we sat in front of most evenings wine in hand.
Great location right across the road from the beach with plenty of parking options, quick walk to the restaurants and cafe’s.
- Sue (9/5): Lovely art decor accomodation with all mod cons in a superb locations. - All great. The decor is great and the location and availability of convenience things like mirrors and powerpoints was great. Loved the option of blankets too. A couple of cereal bowls would be good.
