- Alison (10/5): Very relaxing! - It’s an amazing place! The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was amazing. We heard the rest of the meals were also very delicious. Very traditional. If you’re taking the cable car up the mountain, you’ll have to take quite a few stairs to get to the location.

- Melvyn (10/5): An unforgettable stay - Perfect place for a one/two day retreat and halfway point between the bustle of Osaka, Kyoto or even Nara. Conveniently located next to the tram station, Hozanji temple and if you are able to stay 2 nights, a good place to settle for a day trip to Nara before leaving for your next destination.
Amazing views, amazing service, amazing location. Must try breakfast.
For an evening I would recommend shopping around Ikoma station, have a nice dinner, ride up the tram, walk up the lantern-lit pathways up the Hozan-ji temple complex, and just take in the sheer beauty and serenity of the temple at night, as well as the views overlooking the cities below. I think it will take a while for me to experience something else as breathtaking as this ever again.
- Blanka (10/5): Amazing location with perfect room to stay - I basically organized my days in Osaka, but when I found this accommodation, it was clear that I wanted to spend my evenings here. The area is wonderful, the cable car is a special and fun experience, and Hozenji is an amazing place, especially after dark. The room was very spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The view from the room is absolutely amazing! Everythinf was more than wonderful!
- Lucie (10/5): Exceptional - It was one the best Ryokans with private bathroom, which is very rare for Ryokans. The locality was very peaceful, near Ikoma Mountain and small temples. The perfect place to really relax and meditate. The service was exceptional. They personally helped me to carry my heavy luggage to the stairs. The staff also called a taxi for me in the early morning, when there was supposed to be nobody at the reception. And the Japanese breakfast was so delicious and excellent. I would come here again. I can only recommend this place.
- Susanna (8/5): Traditional ryokan - The room was clean and spacious, and the nightview was stunning. The staff speaks a little English, too. The breakfast was the best I've had so far during my stay in Japan! They even ask for food allergies when you check in.
- Nathan (10/5): Peaceful Ryokan atop the hill - Away from the city and anything busy. Very beautiful. Really close to the station. I’m 6’2” and there’s a staircase that is a bit steep but that’s kinda negligible since it’s only used twice a day.
- Alexandra (10/5): So in love with this ryokan and the town! - The location is majestic! You get to travel there by the cute Ikoma cable train shaped as a neko 🐱. The window view is down the mountain on Ikoma and even further away Osaka (I guess it was Osaka, anyways, night city lights spreading down below is a view to remember). And the town itself is worth planning your time so you can wander about, hike, and visit the local treasure, Hozanji temple. Just keep in mind places like shops and cafés seem to close up early and open late here😉
The room is spacios. The traditional japanese vibe is ✨️✨️✨️💯
The futon bed was very comfortable 😌 😴
The place is clean and well kept. I would say 9/10 for cleanliness. It could be cleaner, but it was very clean and pleasant to stay. One of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in.
The staff is friendly and helpful, I was even helped with the huge suitcase down the stairs 🥹
There's a hair dryer and amenities like shampoo, hair conditioner, body wash, a comb, mini toothpaste, and a toothbrush.
In the room, there's a kettle, a tea set, and a tea bag, so I could enjoy a cup of green tea in the traditional japanese room overlooking the beautiful view *-------*
I've fallen so in love with this ryokan and the town that I'm definitely coming here again on my next trip to Japan ♡ Not the best option for travelers with large suitcases. There isn't an elevator in the hotel, but there are stairs (lots of them) both in the facility and in the town. This is a mountainous region so suitcases, especially large ones, make things complicated. So better be prepared.
- Dsvid (8/5): Nice hotel - Trad Japanese hotel with s great view of the city
- Dsvid (10/5): Super - Great trad Japanese hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Wan Sze (10/5): - The staff at were incredibly welcoming and attentive
- Sameer (10/5): I highly recommend staying in this location. - The location was beautiful and our room had an amazing view of the city. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. N/A
- Kumari (10/5): Amazing view and breakfast - The view from the room is great and the breakfast was just amazing. After getting off the funicular station, you need to walk up quite a bit. Not great for guest with luggage unless you hire a taxi all the way to the hotel.
- Buzz (9/5): Superb -
- Marcos (8/5): Very good - The old style-ryokan room was just amazing. The staff were really nice and made me feel at home from the very first moment I arrived.
Also the chance to wear a yukata was a refreshing experience! The room was very clean overall, but there was a bit of dust on some places
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- stephanie (10/5): A great quiet place to stay with a beautiful view - Absolutely lovely place and people.
The breakfast (japanese style) were amazing. Great location. Very quiet.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Vivien (10/5): - I would like to strongly recommend this hotel. We were driving in around 8pm after our sight seeing and dinner. We couldn't really find it on google map but eventually we arrived at this hotel. hotel owner who was a lady couldn't speak much Japanese but we communicate just fine. She helps us with the luggage and upgraded us to a bigger room with a city view in Nara.
The room was huge and with nice strong and hot shower. The view was so nice this is one of the best room we have during our 10 days trip in Japan. The lady was very hospitable.
Also the breakfast was very delicious in Japanese style. It comprised of Nara udon and you get the taste of nacho. The rooms were very clean and the air was fantastic as this hotel is sitting on the hill. We will definitely come and stay again if we come to Nara.
