• Itinerarius (3/5): Potential safety concerns in a nice Gion machiya hosted by incompetent Rinn staff. - Location in Gion is close to many tourist attractions. There is plenty of space for a single family. 2 bedrooms are upstairs next to each other separated by a sliding door. Seating at the dining table for 4. Upstairs toilet is across the hall with the sink in the hallway. The outdoor bath is amazing. 1st floor shower, sink and toilet. Plenty of room for suitcases. Pajamas are included. Audible street noise and humming noise in the bedrooms (which did not stop after turning off the heaters) may have come from outside. We were still able to sleep comfortably. Potential safety concerns. Incompetent staff. No umbrellas or lotion. Unadjustable outdoor bath screen. Inconvenient key pickup. The Rinn staff are incompetent and unhelpful when issues arise. Keys are picked up at Rinn Kyoto Station which is NOT at Kyoto station. The front desk clerk whose name badge said "Trainee" answered questions incorrectly about amenities and breakfast. Staff probably do not routinely check the place as the bamboo screen at the outdoor bath could not be moved due to knots in the rope. The location is in alleyway flanked on one end by a sushi restaurant and other end by a beer/sake bar. 2 of the nights we stayed, people knocked on the door and attempted to enter. One night after going to bed, a man tried repeatedly to open the door. He then beat and shook the wooden slats on the front door, yelling that he had booked the place, then screaming, "OPEN THE DOOR!!!!" There is no door peephole and no view of the door from the upper windows. My kids were scared and shaking from the door rattling the entire building. The Rinn front desk clerk was unhelpful and said he did not speak English (but he did). When I requested the front desk view the security cameras, I was told there was nobody at our front door (even though they could hear the man over the phone). Finally, we decided to hang up and call the police. Afterwards, I sent a message via booking.com complaining about Rinn's lack of response to our safety and that I was concerned the front desk clerk checked the wrong cameras. Their response was to wake us up at midnight on the Gion Yakasamae phone to tell me the security cameras were not working. He would come to check our front door. Of course, nobody was there hours later. Travelers tried to enter again 2 nights later. Rinn had fixed the security cameras and saw they were travelers. I wanted to let others to be aware the Rinn staff probably will not respond in a timely or appropriate manner if concerns arise.
• Maple (8/5): Very good - Great location - super convenient to walk to a lot of different attractions and shopping areas. The staff was really communicative and it was nice to be able to drop off our luggage at their hotel for them to deliver it to the home. The home itself was a little drafty - we had to keep all of the doors closed for the tatami room to try and keep it from getting too cold, even with the room heater on. We did the same with the bedrooms. The downstairs bathroom never really warmed up. This probably won’t be an issue if you don’t stay during a time when it’s cold outside.

• Monica (9/5): Perfect location - great holiday home! - The location is absolutely perfect! It's really close to the best parts of the Gion district - but it's a few streets away so it's still quiet and away from crowds. It's also a short walk into downtown Kyoto and the market etc. It has a lovely traditional feel - while also having all the modern requirements for a comfortable stay. It's even better than I expected - we really enjoyed out stay! The best part - you have the whole place to yourselves! Each room has different sleeping arrangements - one has two double beds - the other has two traditional sleeping mats.
• Leomy (9/5): Traditional meets modern lifestyle - Unique experience staying in a traditional Japanese home (with a modern touch) There is an outdoor Onsen tub outside the bathroom. Facilities are complete including room slippers, kitchenette & toilet amenities, they even provide brand new dish sponge. Rooms are spacious and the futon are thicker than usual, so it's comfortable. Location is right at Gion district, about 12 mins walking distance from nearest train station . There was only 1 heater on the ground floor in the Tatami room (living room), the floor was still cold especially at night. So we need to close the room door to retain heat and keep warm when having dinner / supper.

• Clement (10/5): A very charming, traditional place in the heart of Gion - The location is perfect being in the Gion district, with parking available just behind the property. The traditional Japanese features and decor, little garden and outdoor bath were highlights of the property. The kitchen is well equipped and the washing machine is very useful for travelers too.

• Carole (1/5): Did not enjoy our stay here. Pictures very misleading. Same price as a decent hotel so not value for money. - Location but otherwise really uncomfortable and noisey. Would not recommend. V noisey and uncomfortable.
• Poyuan (10/5): So pleased to stay here instead of at a hotel - This townhouse was so spacious and superbly designed for our family of 4 - it was about 1/3 BIGGER than it looked in photos. It also felt freshly renovated, again looking much better than in photos. AC worked great (one unit for each tatami room), and it was great to have 2 sinks and 2 toilets. You had everything you needed (tons of towels, bath amenities, and kitchen items), plus one garbage pickup and basic housekeeping was provided during our stay. We all loved the outdoor pot bath, and the washer/dryer combo was such a convenience to have on a long trip. Location was excellent for exploring Kyoto, fully walkable to all parts of Gion, as well as across the river to the main shopping street. Public transport easy to access within 10 minutes walk. Even though I usually prefer to stay at luxury hotels, this was one of my favorite stays ever. Street noise - the bedrooms are separated from a major street by a parking lot, and unfortunately gets a lot of street noise from passing cars.

• Julia (8/5): Overall, we enjoyed our stay despite some lacking amenities and uncomfortable beds. - Our accommodations were clean, the space was big enough for my family. We loved the traditional Japanese features, and the kids were thrilled with the outdoor tub. It was nice that someone came to make the beds, take out the garbage, and change towels after the first few nights. All beds were very uncomfortable. I messaged reception in the middle of the first night because we could not sleep. I was told someone would come the next morning to add additional padding to the beds, but no one showed up. The kitchen was lacking bowls. A larger drying rack for our laundry would have been nice.
• Doris (10/5): A small cute house in a perfect location. - Perfect location for tourists. Very clean and the kitchen has everything you need. We loved everything about this small house. We would love to stay here again. You should be aware of the following (not negative) things: - There are 2 small bedrooms upstairs (about 10 steps). One room has 2 queen-size beds and the other has 2 single futon beds on the tatami floor. - The shower is downstairs and the toilet is upstairs. - The dining room has Japanese furniture with a low table and you sit on the tatami floor. If you have mobility problems, this house may not be good for you. This house is great for 4 people, not more. None.

• Renjun (10/5): Great stay in Kyoto! - All are really perfect!!! We like the place a lot. The room is comfortable and clean. The kitchen is nice to use. The sleeping place is large size. The place is a walking distance to the subways and buses. None! As far as I could say, nothing is bad. I will book a similar room under Rinn.
• Magaly (10/5): - I really like the machiya experience when coming to Tokyo. The unique feature of this property compared to other machiyas I stayed at is the outdoor Japanese style tub. This was awesome at the end of long days walking around in Kyoto.

Mi è piaciuta moltissimo, l’unica pecca la difficoltà a trovarla... mi sarei aspettata che all’arrivo (con bagagli, due bambini e sotto la pioggia) il personale potesse accompagnarci invece di lasciarci con una cartina poco leggibile.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice to stay - The house facilities are up to our expectation and it is comfortable and cozy. The only problem that we encountered is it's very inconvenience to go their reception office just to check-in and get the key since we are having few large luggage. Besides, we have to find the reception office based on the gps, and then the staff just give us a guided paper map to the house that we were going to stay. We got lost as the house is in quite and narrow road of Gion.
• ｍｋ (10/5): 京都を感じれる - 大人4人　子供二人の宿泊で、ベッド２　敷布団３の予定だったのですが、準備されてるのがベッド２敷布団１でした。あとドリップコーヒーサーバーに使用済みのカプセルが入ったままでした。これがなければ満点でしたが・・・
• Verified traveler (10/5): 1박으로는 아쉬웠던 숙소 - 객실도 깨끗하고 노천 목욕을 즐길 수 있어서 좋았다. 골목에 위치해서 찾아가기는 조금 어려웠으나 직원분이 체크인 할때 지도랑 어느 골목으로 가야하는지 미리 뽑아둔 종이로 알려주셨기 때문에 큰 문제 없었다. 주변 거리도 깨끗하고 신사도 가기쉬운 위치에 있어서 일정을 최소 2박 이상 잡는 걸 추천한다. 히터를 틀었을 때 따뜻한 바람이 나오는데 조금 시간이 걸렸지만 잘때는 따뜻하게 잘 잤고 5명이 숙소를 이용했는데 숙소도 넓고 다 좋았다. 정말 만족스럽게 잘 이용했으나 1박만 이용해서 아쉬운점이 많았고 나중에 교토에 오게된다면 2박 혹은 3박을 머무르고 싶다는 생각이 들었다.
• ryo (8/5): 京都を満喫できる良いホテル - リフォームされた町家ということで昔ながらの趣のある家屋と、近年の住むに適した快適さを兼ね備えた良いホテルです。 お風呂は二人で入るには十分な露天風呂も付いていて中庭を眺めながらの入浴は格別でした。 悪い点を挙げるとするならば、良くも悪くも立地が微妙ということです。 京都の街を楽しむと言う点では良い立地なのですが、観光をメインにする旅行では少し立地が悪いと思います。例えば京都駅より南側へ観光する場合にはバスを乗り継がなければ行けないので不便でした。やはり観光メインなのであれば京都駅周辺のホテルを取る方が無難ではないでしょうか。 また、当ホテル近隣にはクラブやキャバクラといった店が数多くあり、やや景観を損ねていたのも事実です。 それでも、総合的に判断するととても良いホテルでした
• jaewon (10/5): 더 오래 머물고 싶은 집 - 이전의 교토여행에서 제일 인상적인 기온 근처의 숙소를 구하다가 이곳으로 결정했다. 함께 여행을 간 친구 2명이 일본은 처음이라서 일본분위기를 느낄 수 있는 숙소를 고려한 점도 있었다. 1,2층을 다 사용할 수 있는 게스트하우스로서 기대 이상의 만족감을 주었다. 신축건물이라 깨끗함은 기본이였고 기본적인 주방용품과 생활용품이 비치되어있었다. 1층은 주방, 욕실, 티비가 있는 조그마한 거실로 구성되었고, 2층은 2개의 침실로 구성되어있다. 특히 각층마다 화장실이 있는 건 좋은 점이다. 우리는 남자 3명이였지만 6명도 숙박이 가능할 크기였다. 다만 개인적으로 3~4명이 지내기에 가장 이상적인 공간이라고 생각한다. 우린 고작 2박3일을 지냈지만 떠날땐 정이 들어 아쉬움이 남았다. 마치 친구집에서 지내듯 장기간 편안하게, 자유롭게 교토여행을 하고 싶다면 이곳은 적절한 선택이 될것이다. 참고로 이곳은 교토역 근처의 사무실에서 체크인을 하고 체크아웃은 카드키만 집에 두고 나오면 된다. 아마 이곳을 예약하면 이부분에 대해 집중적으로 당신에게 숙지시킬 것이다. ㅋㅋ 다행히 체크인 후에 무료 택시서비스로 숙소까지 데려다준다. 여러부분에서 만족스러운 숙소이지만, 위치가 놓치고 지나치기 쉬운 조그마한 골목길 안에 있어서 구글지도로 사전에 꼭 위치를 파악하고 가야한다.
• t (8/5): - 祇園界隈の散策に非常に便利です。一棟貸しという事もあり、周りに気兼ねする事なくのんびり過ごせました。外風呂は非常に素晴らしかったのですが、ホコリ等が溜まりやすいようなので、最初に使用する時は水で軽く流したほうが良いかと思います。
• Kristen (10/5): - Great location in Gion and a fantastic traditional house with everything you need. Great service from the reception upon arrival. The only very minor issue was what to do with our bags after check out (it was a hassle to return them reception back down at Kyoto station ). I would definitely recommend and we loved our stay!
• あさ (8/5): 広くて綺麗な町屋ゲストハウス - 期待通りの綺麗で素敵な宿でした。 ただ、チェックインのため、16時以降に一度京都駅のレセプションまでいかないといけないのが、タイトな観光スケジュールの中ではどうしてもネックでした。 予め早めに鍵をもらえたら助かります。 毎日鍵を変えて、当日のチェックインの鍵は16時以降しか空かない仕組みにするなど。
• Verified traveler (8/5): Cosy Well maintained - Its a newly renovated, well maintained cosy house with large living, nice kitchen, 2 bedrooms on upper floor and the highlight is the open tub bath, which gives feeling of open air, but also is private from prying eyes.
• sookhyun (10/5): 가족여행숙소로 훌륭합니다 - 아이들과 함께 가족여행으로 이용했는데 생각보다 훨씬 좋았습니다. 복층구조의 다다미 방이고 화장실 별도로 2개가 되어 있고 네스카페 커피드롱기와 준비된 커피와 차, 세탁기와 세제까지 준비하는 센쓰, 그리고 바깥의 통욕조도 매일 피로풀기에 아주 유용하게 활용했습니다. 다만 위치가 좁은골목사이에 있어서 구글맵으로 찾기도 쉽지 않았습니다. 그거 외에는 기온거리네에 있어서 시내 나가기도 좋고 밤에 돌아다니기도 좋고 아주 좋았습니다. 아이들이 참 좋아했습니다
• Michael (10/5): שווה ביותר - המקום הוא בעצם בית דו קומתי בלב גיון. מגיעים אליו דרך סמטה צרה ולכן בפעם הראשונה היה קשה לנו למצוא. פרט לכך חוויית השהיה היתה מדהימה, בית מסורתי שהפנים משופץ ומחודש לרמה הגבוהה ביותר. קומה עליונה היא קומת שינה שמחולקת לשני חדרים מופרדים במחיצה. בחדר אחד 2 מיטות זוגיות, בחדר שני מזרוני טטמי עבים ומפנקים עד עוד שלושה, בקומה יש גם שירותים. קומה תחתונה כוללת מבואה, חדר אמבטיה וחדר שירותים כולל מכונת כביסה, חצר קטנה עם מיני אונסן, סלון עם טלוויזה ומטבחון. מכיוון שזה בית, הצ'ק אין מבוצע בבנין סמוך לתחנת קיוטו שם אפשר להשאיר את המזוודות עד הצ'ק אין. הסעת המזוודות מבוצעת ע"י נהג של המקום. המיקום פנטסטי מרחק הליכה להרבה אתרים בעיר וכולל למקדש קיומיזו דרה. מטיבי לכת יגיעו ברגל למקומות נוספים. יש תחנות אוטובוס ותחתית במרחק 5-10 ד' הליכה
