Guest Reviews
- Chris (6/5): Watch for Monkeys! - The place is a cheap adventurous way to travel. No restaurant but plenty of food a 5 minute walk away. Got trapped in our room a couple of times with a troup of Monkeys taking over our patio, hammock and access out. Not warning about this at all. Normal apparently so deal with it. Anyways, a cheap adventure that noone was hurt. Just lost a few things to the monkeys! Bring everything in at night. Early morning visits from the monkeys and a afternoon visit everyday. The alpha monkeys hsve no issue in showing their teeth and attempts to come after me.
- Jimmy (2/5): - Sewer
- Jeremy (4/5): Smoky dingy beach bungalow - The smell of smoke was constant, making this an unpleasant stay. Also there is no road access. You have to walk along the beach to get there. So don’t pack a heavy suitcase. Aside from the smoke, for what it is - a bungalow for backpackers - it’s ok. Electricity and plumbing and air conditioning worked. And the bed sheets and towels were clean.
- Kevin (8/5): - I've stayed here before. The location is PERFECT. The rooms are OK and it was nice to see they had added a coffee pot to the rooms. Stayed in #10. It could use a curtain on the bathroom window and curtains on the small windows to either side of the main door. Someone walking up to the porche could just look right in. It could also use a way to lock the door from the inside. The lower latches don't "latch". It has been that way since I stayed there before around a year ago. Lastly, I'd recommend a good thrashing for the monkeys that raided every day...hahah. Expecially the big one that stole my brownies before I could scare him off. Seriously though, they like this place (#10) so if you want to see monkeys up close and personal.. hahaha... it's your best bet!
- Heath (2/5): - This place is disgusting. Cabin 8 where Instaued was awful. Mold rust dirt. Scratchy sheets, curtains that didnt close all the way so the noght lights shown in ans people could look in. Huge gaps in the floor that allowe ALL the bugs to come in. The bathroom had so many flys and bugs it was crazy. The wetrkom area is a joke. Hope yoh like evrythijg soaking wet including TP. AC and toilet both broke when Inwas there and neither ever worked well. Also while the staff was nice enough none are trained in first aid or even know the animals living in the ocean. They also dont have a first aid kit. I found thks out the hard way when i stepped on a sea urchin. I hobbled my way back to the front desk, bleeding like a stuck pig, in agony as the poison set in and no one had any idea what to do or what I may have encountered. They suggested I walk over 10 mins to the pharmacy in town... fortunately a nurse was staying a few cabins away and helped also identified it was probably a sea urchin and since it was a clean in out stab, the poison was minimal. I want to clarify this is not the staffs fault, but managements for not training them. Awful experience for $60 US a night.
- Joseph (6/5): Great location - Nice basic bungalow, good WiFi and aircon in rooms, mosquito net on bed. Kettle and mugs in the room too. Situated on White Beach at the Quiet end and so much nicer, cleaner and quieter than Kaoh touch, yet just 10 minute walk away.
If you Walk past the bungalows through the next resort called Tree house resort, through a little jungle for 10 mins you stumble across the most beautiful 4km white Beach called Longset beach, we spent our days here, almost deserted and bliss.
There are monkeys that come to the bungalows, not so friendly either, so keep your doors shut. Overall a wonderful, chilled out time was had on Koh Rong at these bungalows.
- Alison (10/5): - Amazing
- Rattana (8/5): - Cute private bungalow, just need to clean up bathroom ( place new shower curtains), great ocean view and few steps away from getting into the beautiful ocean water! Great staff and the massage ladies were great!?
- Richard (8/5): - .
- Stephen (6/5): - White Beach is a beautiful, natural resort on an easily accessible area on the island. The bungalows are more beach shacks with all the required facilities, aircon, fans, wifi, hot water etc. my only complaint was the so called music thumping from the bar area until midnight so sleep was impossible until after then.
on the last night a backpacker place played incredibly loud "music" until the wee hours.. i vowed to never return to that area again.
- Kevin (8/5): - I had a beautiful stay here. There are a few things to keep in mind though. They only accept cash. I was staying several days so that was a big chunk of my spending money. BTW, If you want to get cash on the island you'll pay 8 percent to do so. This cut into my spending money a little but luckily I had a workaround with my Cambodian friend that may not be an option for you. There is no restaurant on the property (under renovation). There is no refrigerator in the room or coffee post for boiling water. No laundry on site (but the maintenance fellow may take care of it for you). All of that being said, I enjoyed my stay here immensely! Just make sure you're prepared for a few inconveniences.
- Kristian (10/5): Great for couples and friends - We had a lovely stay at White Beach Bungalows.
The location is perfect and is just about the right amount of walking distance from the "town". The beach and water is pristine.
Some minor issues with the Bungalows which is to be expected, in addition to plastics unfortunatelly being a problem in this region of the world.
But other than that we had an amazing stay here. Will def come back
- Nigel (8/5): - Beach huts are very basic but the location is fantastic, close to koh touch and lots of bars
Restaurants within 5-10 mins. Bathrooms are wet rooms and are very basic. Aircon and mosquito nets are a plus - as are the free sunbeds on the beach . For the price they are a good option but this could definitely be so much better with a bit more attention (tried twice to get drinks on the beach with no luck!) so went elsewhere. It was the start of the season but other places were so much more geared up!
- Heang (8/5): - This place has a lot of potential. Needs some upgrades. The staff is extremely nice. They helped me with food and housekeeping. I watched them try to keep the beach clean. My mosquito net had holes and needed to be repaired. For the price, its not bad.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rustic cabin was atmospheric and a nice distance away from party town bars. No noise but near to walk to.
I would have liked a small table and chair inside the cabin as well as the patio furniture. With just a bed it looks spartan.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was great and the beach was the best in the area, however for what you pay you do get very little.
The rooms are VERY basic and not the cleanest.
- Cigdem (10/5): - I like our room view, we could see the ocean even in our bed. Personel are kind and friendly. You defenitely make sure having fly repellent
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Rats in the room
- Robin (10/5): Cute bungalows, beautiful beach and great location - White Beach Bungalows is a great place on Koh Rong island. The bungalows are adorable, clean and rather large. The location is perfect, it's not too close to the "downtown area" to hear the noise at night however it is only a short walk to get there and enjoy the fun nightlife.
Ben, the Bungalows manager, was always available to answer questions or give recommendations.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
- Robby (6/5): - Average for the money paid.
No AC in the bungalow
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staid here for a weekend. The place is right on the beach and has super helpful and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property is located right on a beautiful part of the beach, it is a decent walk from the pier so can be tricky with lots of luggage. The staff here are excellent and happy to help out with anything. We stayed in the treehouse room which had a great view, the bed was nice, the bathroom is very very simple. Would recommend paying the extra money for an air-conditioned room.
- andrew (8/5): Heaven in paradise - Great place to stay. Close to the action but far enough you can get some peace and quiet. One of the nicest beaches right in front. Staff were excellent and friendly and willing to help where they can.
- Russell (8/5): Night time noise spoils this daytime paradise - Lovely beach bungalows in a superb location with great good & helpful staff BUT incessant noise from the all night parties (11pm - 7am) 5 or 6 times a week had a real impact on our stay. The hotel does have a declaration on their website but if we’d have known that the parties continued until breakfast time, we’d have booked somewhere else.
- Cheri (6/5): BASIC - Basic accommodations.Beach front very nice.Staff helpful.7 minute walk from main pier. but Koh Rong is a party Island and you can hear the music from town..
- Sophie (8/5): Good stay, great view, bad belly! - Easy check in and free drink, friendly staff, lovely bungalow but had a bad experience with the food. Walking distance to the bars but still peaceful.
- Cody (10/5): Beach bungalow paradise - Loved staying here, its in the perfect location if you wanna stay in the main village, close enough to everything but far enough to feel secluded. Also one of the nicest beaches you will find is just a 10-15min walk around the corner. Bungalows are simple but great and the restaurant bar area is fantastic with excellent food. The staff here is extremely friendly and very helpful. Would absolutely stay here again
- Christopher (10/5): Great place to stay, chill and relax - Loved it here, had a bungalow right on the beach couple nights with air con the rest with just a fan as air cons overrated! Bungalows were basic but perfect for the whole island can seem expensive at times but it is what it is. The staff were great couldn’t do enough for you. Plus the bungalows were far enough away from the main village you didn’t get a lot of the tools that frequent the place in your face everyday. But I nice stroll along the beach and you’re there in 5 mins. Deffo stay here again, made the last week of my long trip away a memorable one. Highly recommend
- Geoffrey (10/5): Simple but amazing. Best value on Koh rong! - Amazing stay at white beach bungalows!
Stayed with a group of friends last week, we’d booked 5 rooms for 5 nights, and were very impressed.
The beach! Beautiful, sand as white as per, soft as flour and the sea was was as clear as glass.
Restaurant was delicious, and reasonably priced. $6 will get you breaky with a shake per person, $130 got us dinner and drinks for 9 people (bbq on the beach). Better quality and prices can be had in town, but given the location, this option was great. Service was strong point, friendly, prompt and attentive.
Hotel staff were exceptional, friendly checkin and responsive to all requests. Helpful with booking tickets for events also!
Rooms were great, well at least for what could be expected for the price. 2 queen beds, covered by mosquito nets, warm showers (water pressure leaves a little to be desired though), and great views (all ours were beachfront). A couple of our rooms were air con (worth it in my opinion, even though the islands power goes off for an hour, twice a day). Others had rooms with fans, said that was more than enough for them - so viewers choice here really.
Overall, location is perfect, close enough to town to head in for a meal or party, but far enough away for a clean beachfront and more relaxing. Note - you’ll still hear the parties going on 2km down the beach from midnight til 6am... be warned! 100% would stay there if I went back. Much better value than $10 hostel beds :)
- Christopher (10/5): 10 out of 10 - Loved it at white beach, book in advance if you’re staying for a few days. The bungalows were great a lot of things are overpriced on the island but if that doesn’t bother you I highly recommend staying here the staff were amazing, friendly and always available to help. I stayed for 5 nights would of stayed the full 10 days I was there if I’d found it sooner. Highly recommend it, I stayed in the bungalows with a sea view which made my last few days in Cambodia all the more special. Would Deffo stay here again
- Ross (6/5): Rustic and quiet accommodation on the beach - Good location away from the main village.
The bungalow itself was simple and clean. Nice sea view from the room. Unfortunately there was no hot water in the shower.
No sun beds available from the hotel, but they did have beach mats. There was a nice chatty Dutch girl who gave us some tips on what to do and where to go. Other staff could’ve been more engaging and helpful.
Not sure I would book this accommodation again.
- Greg (10/5): Perfect setting in Koh Rong - WBB has a lot going for it - probably the best spot on the beach. Far enough away from town so that the noise doesn’t worry you but close enough that you can get into it when you want within a 5-7 minute walk. Long beach is also easily accessible. There is a rocky point just offshore where you can snorkel and see a few fish too. Probably the cleanest bit of the beach. During our stay there was a lot of maintenance and tidying up going on due to a hard rainy season taking its toll - I suspect everything will be tip top shape in the next month or two. I think it will be the perfect spot then. Nothing to do with the resort, but there seem to be rolling blackouts of 1-2 hours up to 2-3 times a day on the island. Just be prepared for this.
- Sylvia (10/5): Cozy hotel right on the beach - Quiet hotel further from the party zone, friendly staff and air-conditioned rooms and balconies overlooking the beach, perfect for listening to the waves
- Kerrie (8/5): - The smell from the septic overflow was not so great at times. But this does seem to be a problem in many areas of the island. This needs to be a problem that all resorts need to join together and fix before they distort the island and it’s beauty. Bungalows are a nice distance from the noise of parties but close enough to walk to the main area for food.
- Rachael (8/5): - Friendly staff, nice bungalow, disappointing there was no restaurant on site as advertised. Poor Wi-Fi and bad shower pressure. But right on a nice beach.
- Rebecca (6/5): Quiet place close to main pier/village - Rooms clean and comfortable with 2 fans. Well lit shower. Convenient and quiet. Food good too. However i found it really overpriced - got a much better koh rong experience on 4k beach where bungalows are just as good but much cheaper n longer stretch of beach. Not social, mostly left to your own devices. Not much to do around here either.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never ever again - We booked this hotem for 4 nights and left on the 2nd because we could not imagine staying one night longer. We had bedbugs, the bed had a bad smell and the sheets were covered with dirty spots. At the top of the bungalow is an open space so any animal
/insect can go inside anytime. It was not really what we expected as the hotel isn't one of the cheapest and has an excellent rating.
- Shamik (10/5): absolutely fantastic and worth every single penny - The White Beach Bungalows are absolutely fantastic. The location is almost perfect with pristine white sand beach and just about enough distance from the busy market/bar area. Only peace and sound of nature at night. We had a spacious AC bungalows on becah front and we absoloiutely loved lazing around/in it. I must bring this to readers attention that they have 24 hours power back up so, even if the island's power supply may not be trustworthy, you can be rest assured that your room will always stay dry and crisp with the aircon, this was one of our major dilemna while choosing between and AC and non-AC bungalows. The management guys and every single one working are etreemely friendly, understanding and accommodating. We never had to ask one thing for twice.
My heart goes out for the kitchen staff though, as obviously they are putting their heart and soul into making food without realizing they are overcooking everything to lifeless and dry even when the ingredients are absolutrely fresh. I would encourage for the management to get a bit of training for them, but thats about it. I cant find anything negative other than that for this great establishment. We never had hot or clean water problem in shower either. I would go back to Koh Rong in a heartbeat and i dont see myself staying in anywhere else, if coming back to the same island.
If I had to nitpick, I would request for a cover on top of the garden lights and change all clinical white lights with soft yellow ones.
- Shamik (10/5): Absolutely Fabulous - I have written an elaborate review, this one is for adding the pictures.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Must try B B Q it's delicious
- Vilma (10/5): - Our bungalow was wonderful. Very clean and well working bathroom and nice balcony. Nicer sheets and towels would’ve beer the final touch!
- Zak (10/5): Lovely spot on a lovely beach - Lovely spot on a lovely beach and very clean,Jessie the lady on reception was very helpful and informative
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mixed review - We did not have a moment of sleep the night we stayed. It was a Wednesday night so Police Beach (a kilometer away) was having a party until 7 am. Sound traveled across the bay so no sleep whatsoever despite ear plugs and noise canceling headphone. If you want to avoid noise don't stay on Wednesday and Saturday nights when Police Beach hosts a party. Other nights I do not know. Ben and Jessie, the staff, were friendly and helpful. No complaints. Bungalow itself was OK. Not clean enough for my personal taste but perhaps that is what bungalows are for. If you want to party all night, I recommend this lodging. If you want to get any sleep,in all conscience, I can't recommend despite nice staff and general facility.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent enough - Lots of trash behind the buildings. BBQ seafood was awful. Koh rong island could be nice but, as with any place in Cambodia its beauty is marred by the trash situation.
Hotel had a great location but thought it was a bit overpriced
- Bryan (8/5): Great place, poor restaurant service. - The place was great, very nice and relaxing. The reception staff were nice and helpful, but the restaurant service was poor. You could spend 30 minutes waiting for someone to come take your order, while they were talking or just not paying attention.
- Lee (10/5): Great stay - Loved the location of White Beach, right at the very end of the beach so very quiet at night but easy stroll to the action. The bungalows are well kitted our and spacious,we had a great view and loved chilling in the hammock. Ben and the staff were also fantastic, they’re all very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Koh Rong! - The island is great and not as developed as some of the other islands in South East Asia. From what i heard, that are a lot of plans for development over the next few years so it's definitely worth visiting now before it all changes.
Ben who runs the bungalows is great - really helpful and accommodating.
The do a BBQ every night which i would definitely recommend.
The location is perfect - it's about a ten minute walk from the main party area but far enough that it doesn't keep you up at night. About a twenty minute walk the other way and you will be on the beautiful 4k beach which is definitely worth a visit!
- Sanjay (8/5): Excellent location - on the beach - The property is perfectly located - on the secluded side of the main beach on the Koh Rong island. About 7-8 minutes walk from the pier area. Close to amenities but yet away from the crowd. The restaurant is very good and we had a lovely dinner.
- simone (10/5): Practically on Beach - Clean basic rooms, fabulous restaurant. Best beach. Great staff.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect spot and view - So this island is officially our favorite island we have ever been to. The colors and beaches are surreal - they are absolutely stunning. As for this specific hotel, the staff is very chill and very nice. The spot is PERFECT as you can just walk up and down the coast to see all the other beaches. The only issue we had was the bungalow not really being sealed at all so it was scary how many bugs and animals could get in even with our door closed and locked carefully. There are holes in the walls and we woke up in the middle of the night to an animal in our bungalow although it ran away as soon as we shined a light on it.
However, overall, or stay here was wonderful. As long as you’re cool with nature n all... then you’ll be fine!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Super relaxing stay! - Had a super relaxing holiday and loved it - would definitely return! Would advise that you book on the ferry from the mainland in advance as it can get completely booked up especially when there has been choppy seas. We missed our first night’s stay due to this but absolutely no fault of White Beach Bungalows.
