The garden was lovely. Breakfast was good. You could borrow books and games and there was a piano you could play. Chairs in the room were not very comfortable. Basin was small and the plug didn't keep water in the basin.

Ali’s breakfast was great, a wide selection to choose from and her hospitality was top notch. I would definitely recommend a stay here and I will definitely be returning. FYI: It is a quiet retreat, so you must be respectful. Beds comfy but bar at the bottom was a tad annoying for the longer legged folk.

- Nelly J (8/5): Cosy stay at Claridge House - The Courtyard Apartment we stayed in was clean and comfortable. It was simply furnished but the bed was cosy and it had a separate kitchen - lounge and bathroom. There were nice toiletries, couch cushions and throw with attention to a Bee Friendly theme. The pictures throughout were calming and we enjoyed the tranquility of our surroundings. There are also pleasing gardens and good parking. We had breakfast in the Main House. It was vegan but we did not mind this - tasty cereal, croissants and plenty of choices for tea and coffee. The lady who served us was kind and helpful. The house was inviting as it is a Quaker house hosting retreats and it is clean, and simply furnished like the Courtyard Apartment. We had no complaints. It was not obvious on booking.com that it was a retreat centre. I booked it as it looked nice and was a good price but then reading more into it I discovered it was. It did not affect our enjoyment.

Breakfast was lovely vegetarian everything you could want. Staff also very friendly. A Quaker house so no alcohol and vegetarian might of put me off , but so glad we went .

It again stated on the booking .com website that an additional amenities was a kitchenette. This was not true for visitors.

A very beautiful morning so we ate outside then walked round the grounds - a great way to start the day. We soaked up the beauty, the silence, and the gentle peacefulness of the environs, even with there being a yoga retreat going on one of the days. The rural setting of lawn, flower beds and giant trees provided a pleasant outdoor meander. The breakfast buffet was wholesome - with nutritious offerings of fruit, juice, soft-boiled eggs (cooked to perfection!), pastries, bread. Coffee press; tea.... all included in the rental. There was probably more items, but that was our focus. The kitchen staff were warm, expressing an interest in the visitors. We enjoyed sharing our travel stories with other visitors. The host was most helpful making arrangements for our late arrival, when she would be off premises. We are most grateful! Claridge House has been tastefully decorated to be visually appealing and comfortable without being glossy or hard-edged as one finds in corporate settings. Our second floor room had beautiful tall windows with great light-blocking but attractive curtains, the beds were made up with crisp cotton sheets; several coverings available too depending on one's comfort level: duvet and blanket. The bathroom gleamed and was fitted with what seemed to be new, quality fixtures. If you want rest and renewal, this is an ideal destination. For lunch and dinner, one may want a car or taxi as the House is rurally located. We walked to one of two reasonably distanced pubs, but the narrow yet at times busy roadways seem to press in on the narrow sidewalks. We long to return to Claridge House for rest and renewal, next time to explore countryside footpaths, and nearby (by car) Wakehurst Place! PS. we found the Wifi very adequate! The host has done everything right! No complaints!

Having read the description again for the property I still cannot see where it states that this a Vegan property and where it states that the breakfast is not a cooked meal. Even to small things like providing milk for coffee and Tea in the room rather than a plant based substitute.

- Lourdes (9/5): Quiet and quirky - Staff were friendly, it was lovely and quiet. The grounds were beautiful, and our little cabin was really clean. Perfectly positioned for a stay after the racing at Lingfield. Please be mindful that this is a Quaker House, it is vegetarian (no fry up for breakfast), and there is no smoking or alcohol anywhere on the grounds. Fine for us, but some people might be unaware when booking.
