Guest Reviews
- Julie (10/5): - We could ride our bikes and or walk to the lake and surrounding area. It was tranquil and clean. I wish the pool was open longer than 6 pm, we got there too late to swim. It is beautiful and quiet.
- Melvin (10/5): My Getaway trip - A nice quiet getaway in a Beautiful State Park.
- Barry (10/5): - Great lodge. Have been many times. Will be back!
- jody (10/5): - Loved it
- Orestes (10/5): - Property was nice, glad their was a good food option on site. Comfortable bed and nice room. Exactly what I could hope for in a stay.
- Corey (8/5): - Pretty nice
- Nathan (2/5): - We have stayed before and had a great time. This time was different, the pool was full of people that were not staying at the hotel and smoking weed at the pool at 3:00 in the afternoon. Later that evening several cars pulled in (also people not staying in the lodge) to loudly party in the parking lot. I did not feel safe with just my young son and I.
- Stacy (10/5): - Beautiful my room seemed like it hadn’t been dust d in a while or checked on but other than that it was good
- Fred (10/5): - Great location. Quiet area.
- Beverly (6/5): - Provided activities including bicycling. Pool, playground, and on site dining.
- John (10/5): - Nice rustic lodge with modern rooms
- James (8/5): - Walls very thin, can listen to other guests in whatever they are doing. Price too high for what you receive. Food at Mulligans was very good and waitress was also
- Danny (8/5): - They close way earlier that there hours say and there is not anyone on the property if you need anything
- Robyn (10/5): Modern update in a beautiful spot - It has been several years since my last stay at this beautiful place. It went from bad summer camp to modern and luxe. I look forward to finding a reason to stay again!
- Gerald (10/5): - This was the best place to stay in the area. It was a deal in my opinion when you look at the price and the quality of the room. I will definitely stay again and will try to plan time to take in all this place has to offer.
- Ronnie (10/5): - It was a really nice stay even though it was a few days after hurricane Heline. They did a really good job putting it back together quickly.
- Cathy (10/5): - This was a great place to evacuate to from Hurricane Milton. There was debris from Hurricane Helena everywhere we went but they did a great job cleaning up. Although the people of GA experienced great destruction from Helena, they were all so kind, especially the employees at the restaurant here at the park.
- Barry (4/5): - This is NOT a 3-Star Property. This is a 1 or 2 Star at best. Maybe a nice property 20 years ago (?) - but neglect of the hotel in favor of the golf course facilities is readily apparent. Unusable pool. Derelict tennis courts. Common areas in shambles and left dirty and disheveled. Unsecured WiFi - when available - made working for me impossible. Chose the property based upon the 3 star rating and glowing Expedia reviews - now, in hindsight, obviously faked. We stayed in the "Lodge" - not the ($$$) cabins which look like new construction. Not sure why they were built when the rest of the place is in such shambles.
- Hailey (10/5): - The breakfast was too expensive for what was offered.
- Caitlin (10/5): - Very nice property.
- Daniela (6/5): - Nice view, great location!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge
McRae-Helena, - Great place to stay
- Renee (10/5): Family gathering - Enjoyed a relaxing visit with family. The kids liked the pool the most.
- Meliss (10/5): - We came in for graduation. While waiting for the ceremony the kids enjoyed the pool and splash pad. It was a nice stay.
- Amiee (10/5): Excellent service - Trip was very amazing. The room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and informative.
- John (10/5): - Great people although a little short staffed at the restaurant. Beautiful buildings and rooms and the setting is too. Awesome place.
- Scott (10/5): - Quite peaceful nice golf course lake view
- Sandi (10/5): - My son is in a nursing home in Mcrae and its a 4 hour drive from my home. I will be coming 2 times a month to visit.
- Douglas (10/5): - Staff very nice and accommodating
- Shelly (8/5): - The lodge was clean and the staff was very accommodating. We were put in a room that the air conditioner was loud and they switch our room with no hesitation. The water was was very muddy so you couldn’t drink it and I didn’t feel very clean after showering.
- Jose (10/5): - Nice and quiet very clean
- Jill (8/5): - It was a great room recently updated. Very clean and quiet. The lodge however was closed and there were no dining services available at this time. The clerk was very helpful and we ended up driving into town for something to eat.
- Sarah (10/5): - Great room and wonderful staff
- Roy (10/5): - Great customer service and food
- Roger (10/5): - Fast and easy
- Dlisa (10/5): - Great rooms, friendly staff.
- Christopher (10/5): - Outstanding! We definitely recommend The Lodge to any travelers in the Southeast Georgia Area. My only recommendation (not a complaint) is to add a Dog Park, there are plenty of area and trails to walk your dog, but it would really be nice to have an area to allow your dog to be unleashed.
- Elsa (10/5): - Great stay
- Dudley (10/5): - Great staff, Andrea is amazing
- Mary (4/5): - Not great. No restaurant service at all. Have to go into town on sat roads to find dinner. No breakfast. Walls so thin you can hear every word in neighboring rooms… and their 4 am alarm clocks! But worst of all… bedspreads were dirty and smelled like
Body odor.. must be changing sheets but not comforters. So gross. Location was okay but should have just stayed 20 miles away in a nicer hotel.
- Beatriz (8/5): - Place is nice, they have outdoor tables and gazebos with electricity and grills in the back of the park so you can do a cookout
- morning (2/5): - Compared to the rest of the motels in this area, yes, this was a motel, it was better. Simply because it priced out of range of the drug addicts that occupied the other motels. I wish they were honest on the website about what we were getting. The floors were dirty, the room was full of flies and the shower had the weakest water flow ever. We had to use the ice bucket to wet our hair properly. The place didn't even have a bath tub. I wish i stayed at the cottages on the golf course or slept in the car. The receptionist was polite though and the check in area did look like a lodge though.
- Sonya (8/5): - I loved the scenery. I didn't like the fact of a microwave not being inside the room.
- Sara (10/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. The place was nice and clean, and very comfortable.
- Glenda (10/5): - Very nice ,clean and staff was helpful in answering questions about the area ! Beautiful park
- JANE (10/5): - Excellent facilities
- Jamie (10/5): Good place to relax - It was clean and the people were very friendly and helpful
- Nancye (10/5): - Enjoyed it all but the staff made it special. Girls in the Grill are the best. Street tacos were best thing I’ve put in my mouth in a long time!
- Tara (10/5): - Beautiful state park with beach volleyball courts, 18 hole mini golf, large lake, walking trails, and more. Room was clean, updated, and comfortable.
- Cindy (10/5): Water pressure - Water pressure is very low both times I stayed there.
- Kathy (8/5): - Nice little state park. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. We stayed here so we could play the golf course the next day. Course was great. Only wish the restaurant would have been open the day we arrived. First night could hear the next door rooms TV all night and the sheets are hard. Otherwise nice place to stay with your pup.
- James (10/5): - Very quiet
- Sandy (6/5): Mediocre - At check in they had the amount I owed wrong and still charged me more than what I was supposed to be charged even after I showed them a receipt of paying half already online..their response was well this is our rates now..I had went through hotel.com and was charged half up front and was suppose to pay the other half at check in. I was hasseled about the receipt as well. They tried to collect the entire payment from me and then again at check out as well. Not to mention I had to come back after recovering my keys just to find out they didnt work and had to go back and get another set from them. Customer service and checkin check out was terrible but the room was nice, AC was real noisy but other than that it was nice. Not sure why I had to pay a parking fee onsite since I parked right in front of my room. They have a parking fee and a resort fee. I wont stay here again. The outdoors were the nicest thing about the stay.
- Myra (10/5): - I chose this motel as a halfway point between my home in SC and my family in FL. As a young, solo female traveler, I felt safe and comfortable staying at Little Ocmulgee. The inside of the room was standard - clean and comfortable. I didn’t get to explore the state park but the area was beautiful and people around were very nice. Will stay again in the future.
- Maria (8/5): - The Sunday Breakfast for a take out container .. was very over priced . I barely got any food and it was almost 18 dollars .
rooms were nice staff were friendly
- Heather (10/5): - Great place to stay! Very nice clean and upgraded. Buffet was also great
- nancy (6/5): Island Girl - The checkin did not go well because their computer system had been down since the day before. I was told to handle the issue thru Hotels.com rather than the lodging staff handling it. The clerk on premise was very polite but I shouldn’t have been the one to clear up the matter. Although I had prepaid the lidge insisted I pay again because they had no records to go by.
- Daniel (10/5): - Really friendly staff, lovely golf course, nice beach area and pool with a good bar
- Douglas (10/5): - It was amazing. Never being there before we were unsure. However it was a delight. Great service And food in a beautiful setting. Golf course was gorgeous. I can’t wait to return.
- Lamar (4/5): Middle of nowhere. - Who ever classified this as a "Resort" evidently has never been to a resort. It's a Motel 6 type facility in middle of nowhere, with poor phone signal and with a host of mosquitos and nats. 95 degrees and pool was closed. Employees were nice and friendly and the room was clean and reasonably comfortable. AC couldn't be regulated very well and you either roasted or froze. Never again. Appropriate restaurants were 30 miles away. Booked 2 nights but stayed only one.
- Candise (8/5): - This place is amazing. We had a very late check in and the lady behind the desk was very helpful and welcoming. The only thing I disliked Was the loud talking and knock on the door from the housekeepers at 8:30AM.
- Diana (10/5): - This town is in the deep country, so I was worried when looking for a place to stay... there were no "standard" hotels! Needless to say, I was excited to find this country club and so glad about how nice it was!
- Cathy (10/5): Lovely - Lovely place. Clean room great staff
- Verified traveler (4/5): A lot of money for the quality of the room. - The lodge advertises non-smoking rooms, however, the room I was assigned to smelled like cigarette smoke. I told the woman at the front desk, she came to the room and she could also smell it. I was not offered another room so I thought there was no availability. I requested a fan, opened the door and tried to air it out. I complained again in the morning and was told that I could have requested another room. Silly me, I thought I should have been told that I could change rooms. Will not stay here again, the nightly price was too much for the quality of the accommodations. The redeeming quality was that the staff was courteous and friendly.
- Leticia (10/5): Big Town Comfort/ Cozy Small Town Charm - It was amazing, the service, the scenery and the location.
- Shannon (10/5): Scenic - My dad and uncle enjoyed staying there-lots to see and admire-will definitely stay there again.
- Althea (10/5): - The clean grounds, friendly staff
- Sergio (8/5): - It's quiet place and easy access at any time.
- james (8/5): - I liked the Property. Rooms need lounge chairs to sit in to watch TV. Beds are a little soft, I like a firm bed.
- Maxine (10/5): - Beautiful property
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a cool place to stay. Nice and quiet. Room was very clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's out in the country. The shower doors don't close and cause water to get everywhere when you shower.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Other than the Lodge Restaurant not being opened when expected was our only complaint.
Guess maybe enough employees to open for Dinner. I dont know.
- Candie (6/5): Cigarette smell - The room was fairly nice, one wash cloth had stains. The smell of the cigarette smoke and weed coming from the next room was horrible.
I would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was extremely friendly even the other guest. I will definitely bring my family back. May try the cottages next time or possibly camping.
- Franklin (6/5): - Tv channels were not as listed and not functional
- Brian (10/5): Simple and peaceful - Such a beautiful and simple place to stay in the rolling hills of Georgia, right next to the golf course.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the privacy and natural view, very nice place to stay and rest
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room as pictured, but bed was the worst ever.Mentioned to staff , and was told she had slept there several times wished she could take bed home. Problem solved right?
In addition to the bed the ad is misleading. This is a MOTEL you are not staying at the Lodge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a very peaceful!! Great stay!! Would stay there again if in area!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room was very nice. Very clean. Would definitely visit again.
- Bridget (8/5): Updated lounge with nice grounds - The stay was great we was able to social distance ourselves from others the park was really nice ! My only complaint was when I was removing my bedsheets for housekeeping (I always do) I found that our sheet was covering a big fresh but dry urine stain On the mattress cover ! I was P.O. because we slept over it for 2 days ! I filed a complaint with Mr.Clint and he was supposed to mail me a 2 day stay ( haven’t received yet) because of the filthiest but he walked over immediately to talk to house keeping! But overall the room was really clean except for the bedding I know next time to check under the sheets first! A lot of the normal activities are not running due to COVID-19 but if you bring your own putter and golf ball you can play putt putt!
- kburgess (10/5): - Beautiful area! We loved golfing, hiking, and swimming!
- Tamika (10/5): A little getaway - It was excellent. Customer service was excellent. Will stay again.
