More rooms in the annex than expected with the resulting other guest noise. Very poor wi-fi speeds in the rooms, fine for downloading, but I needed to upload work reports. • Terry (10/5): Great Stay - Love the place... - I've used the Stableside many time and it is a great place to stay. I always tend to go for the Hostel side of the complex that can be c. 30% cheaper than the main hotel. Breakfast is all you can eat and it is great, normal English choices with lots of drink choice as well as cereal/toast etc. Very clean area for dining. The bus stop to town is 100m to the right of the main entrance and most buses that stop there take you right to the town centre in 15min (ish). Nothing...

• Lisa (9/5): Simple decent accommodation and a good breakfast - The room, bathroom and all the premises are clean and well kept. It is clear that the staff take pride in their work. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My bed was comfortable and the room was warm. A bath towel is included (and there is shower gel and shampoo provided in the showers). It was good to have the drinks making facilities in the room, and I was also able to recharge my phone. The Wi-Fi was also fine. I was able to park my car very near to my room. Stableside is genuinely dog friendly, the staff made a fuss of my dog, and he was given a sausage at breakfast time. The area is also good for dog walking. The breakfast is well worth booking in advance, there is a decent range of choice, including for vegetarians. I have stayed here before and will do so again. I got woken up at 5am on the first morning by someone clanking around in the corridor and the light shining under my door. I did eventually get back to sleep and solved the light problem by placing my bags against the door to block any light. I had no problem with being woken up the next morning.

• Seyyed Abbas (9/5): Vey good stay. - Overall, it is a very nice place to stay. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast is very good. It is located in a calm and pleasant area of the city, which we really enjoyed. The rooms were clean, and we had a very comfortable stay. We would be happy to come back again. We stayed for two nights as a family of three and booked a room for three people. However, the room was initially prepared for only two, with blankets, pillows, and towels provided for just two guests. We only realised this late on the first night, which was inconvenient. I also expected some basic room service during our stay. No one came to clean the room or take out the rubbish during the two days. In addition, the shower controls in the bathroom were quite complicated and not easy to understand.

• Pratik (9/5): Fantastic hospitality - Fantastic hospitality and wonderful staff and facilities. It's absolutely well maintained and very very clean. We are vegetarians and jad some food restrictions but staff members were very accomodative and helped us us warm our food. Location is fantastic with city centre just within 1 to 1.5miles and racecourse within 7mins walking distance Annex rooms are very good and clean only thing is there is lack of fresh air in room as windows are closed. Also, the bathroom lacks windows and ventilation.

• Natalie (10/5): Great place to stay!! - The breakfast bar was amazing, the staff are absolutely lovely, great location and not far from a big tesco or a spa, love the bunk beds in the room we stayed and very dog friendly...my French bulldog got lots of attention from the locals and staff at stableside, can have the heating on if the room is cold Not many plug sockets...only 2 which are located in a cupboard so if your watching Netflix or reading ect on your phone and your phone is on a low percentage then you can't charge your phone while watching Netflix in bed unless you bring your own battery pack or an extention lead 🫣...TV too small on the wall..especially for people with glasses and it strains your neck as the TV is far to high up the wall, i hate the idea of having to use the toilet or shower in a separate room, showers in the gender natural bathroom are far too small, i used it on Saturday 21st march 2026 and my clean clothes got wet because the shower was spraying water on the door of the shower...I wasn't risking running to my room due to the risk of someone else being in the hallway 😂

• Fiona (10/5): Perfect - exactly what I was looking for in a great location with easy access by car. - This was exactly what I was looking for, from the confirmation in advance that I could leave the car in the car park prior to check-in time, through to a kind and friendly lady on Reception who had spotted that my room was a little distance from the shared bathroom and already re-booked me to the easier end of the corridor by the time I reached the accommodation. Everything was clean and tidy and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. A very easy place to spend two nights visiting my nearby student daughter. No improvements to suggest.

Would recommend. - We overall enjoyed our stay. the breakfast was nice, the breakfast room that could be used as a ‘lounge’ in the evening. The location wasn’t too far away from the city centre. And we also liked the racetrack itself. It was great that we could regulate the radiator in the room ourselves. Room, Toilets and bathrooms were clean and cosy warm. The room was a bit small, with hardly any options to put your smaller items (no place next to your bed, etc.). The ladder of the bunkbed was a bit painful to get up and down. It would have been nice to have some hooks for the towels. All the above however is ‘complaining’ on a high level. Because guests were going to the toilets/ bathrooms that were used by all or leaving the building (we were staying in the Annexe) it got quite loud from 5:30 onwards in the morning, which made it challenging to sleep until 8-ish.

• Lisa (10/5): Friendly, clean and comfortable, great breakfast, would happily stay here again. - On arrival I was greeted by a friendly receptionist dressed as a witch (I arrived on Halloween), with lots of seasonal decorations in the public areas. This was a good start! The room was basic but clean, comfortable and warm. I didn't use the TV so can't comment. The showers and toilets are modern, clean and function well, with shower gel and shampoo provided (towels are provided in your room). The breakfast was really good, self service, lots of choice even for a vegetarian, tasty, and you can eat all you want. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The hostel is pet friendly and (well behaved) dogs are even welcome in the breakfast room. My dog seemed content during our visit and it's a good area for dog walks. I didn't eat at the restaurant apart from breakfast as I spent most of the time out in the city. There is plenty of parking on site. My one less than happy experience was being woken up at 4.30am by other guests leaving early. The room doors evidently don't keep out noise in the corridor and the passageway light turns on automatically which comes under the door. However I'm not sure what could be done about this, and I did get back to sleep.

My room was small but it’s all I needed - it had a TV, sink and kettle. Bed and pillow seemed comfortable. No flaws. I’d happily stay again.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff present were really helpful with my special diet. The choice available for breakfast and presentation was amazing. Rooms were really clean and comfortable. My only suggestion is to add a hairdryer, or have a loan one available. Parking excellent and safe. Only needed a hairdryer.

Room clean and toilet and shower area at the end of the corridor spotless. Excellent, safe parking. Local bus stop nearby for going in to the city. Single bed comfortable, the lower bunkbed mattress a bit too soft for a comfortable sleep.
