Guest Reviews
- audrey (8/5): Excellent base with large rooms and a no frills but very clean approach; really good value for money - Very large room and indeed a second room same size so could have easily held 4 adults for the same price as 2; Breakfast was compact both in size of room and the spread but it was good and pretty much everything you would like for breakfast apart from hot items like bacon, sausage, eggs etc. The entrance, stairwell and landings seemed quite austere on arrival but were very clean and softened once familiar with the building. We didn't really have hot water but it was lukewarm such that a shower didn't leave you shivering.
- Toni (1/5): - Nothing I didnt even stay i was there an hour and left wasnt clean walls was marked bed was uncomfortable it smelt
- Denise (8/5): Excellent place to stay at a reasonable price. - This place was booked for a judge from Ireland. She was on her own but felt comfortable at all times. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was excellent. Probably not having to sit in the bar for breakfast but it wasn't a problem.
- Jonathan (10/5): Decent - Th girls at the bar were very nice and accommodating Mattress a little hard and window kept making a noise
- Sarsfield (10/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): A very pleasant stay in a nice environment - Convenient for our stay Nothing

- Liam (5/5): Wouldn’t stay again due to noise and shower issues - Bed was comfortable. Very noisy through the night with traffic and police cars/ambulances. Could hear everything and woken up several times. Shower was like a dribble and absolutely freezing cold no matter which way you turned the temperature knob. Strangely the sink water was fine and hot. Had to leave early for work and ended up having to not use the shower which is disappointing and no compensation offered. Just a “we’ll look into it”
- David (7/5): -
- Quinlan (9/5): Great place - Great location, friendly staff, great value in a nice little town Could of done with more power in the shower to of got 10/10

- Mireille (8/5): -
- Helen (3/5): Won’t book again I’m afraid. - The bedsheets were clean. The bed was small (single) but comfortable. Very close and a pleasant walk to my conference at Eastwood Hall. Easy to get in and out of the property at all times. Where to start? It was pretty dire. Pub is basically on a roundabout so traffic noise is incessant - have to have windows open because the rooms so stuffy and hot. No free parking was available. Tiny room. Tiny shower, which barely dribbled so morning shower took a very long time. Loud door slamming and revving traffic and shouting until midnight every night. TV in room didn’t work at all - switched on but no signal. To top it all off, the last night of my stay coincided with their karaoke night which went on til midnight and was so so loud it literally shook my bed. Didn’t bother to complain as staff seemed supremely uninterested.
- Gemma (9/5): Great value - Really good sized single room
Comfy bed
Very good breakfast including vegan options
Staff were super helpful and friendly It wasn't loud from the pub at all, but there was an argument and fight outside the pub at 2:30 am that woke me up, absolutely out of anyone's control though
- Yulia (8/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Perfect place for an overnight or weekd. Great breakfast, lovely building and friendly staff. - Friendly staff and comfy clean rooms. Great breakfast! Bit noisy at times- but it was the weekend and it is a pub!

- Margaret (8/5): I would stay again as good value for money and comfortable. - A comfortable stay that met my needs. However it is situated in a position noisy with traffic. Having said this I would stay again The position of Sun Inn -noisy with traffic.
- Joan (9/5): - Staff very friendly and wellcoming
Room very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities Road can be noisy at front of the property although double glazing
in place

- Thomas (5/5): Cheap but cheerful - Price Very average room
- Karen (6/5): Value For Money - The room decor was nice adequately stocked tea tray though a little biscuit would be a nice addition such as a biscoff. Items such as a fan iron and hairdryer provided too without charge.
The staff were polite. We had dinner one night which was nice and breakfast one morning which was great value for money at £10. This got you a continental breakfast as well as a cooked breakfast.
There was parking. The room we stayed in Room 1 was at the back of the hotel with fans or ventilation from the kitchen. So it was quite noisy until the kitchen shut. And there was a smell of cooking in the room constantly.
If we ever stayed again we would request a room at the front of the property.
There was parking for residents though it was difficult to park. Our car is large and wasnt easy to maneuver as the hotel sits on the main road so there is traffic constantly passing restricting maneuvering.
On a plus there is a public car park at the rear of the hotel which is relatively cheap to park.
- Debbie (8/5): Good value for money, clean and comfortable. - Clean and comfortable Nothing, it suited my needs
- Chihobvu (10/5): - Very good environment There is no parking space. One would spend time looking for parking
- Anthony (10/5): -
- CARL (10/5): Free Parking, DH Lawrence centre 5 mins, Fab Breakfast & Superb Value = Another PERFECT STAY ! - Another wonderful stay at the Sun Inn
- Steve (10/5): Very nice stay - Friendly staff very nice food and beer Night club noise Friday and Saturday

- CARL (10/5): Perfect! Spotlessly Clean, DH Lawrence Centre just 5 mins away, Mind-Blowing Breakfast! Great Value! - The welcome was wonderful, with happy smiling faces and that was just mine! But seriously, What a find, What great value and what a fab place, Perfect for a one night stay or if your lucky enough, even longer! A super friendly, well managed and I was made so welcome, I felt like a local.. Traveling solo, I booked the single room with shower which was spotlessly clean & spacious enough to feel comfortable and at home in. If your visiting Eastwood for Mr DH Lawrence, Then you have the absolute perfect location at the Sun Inn with free parking as the DH Lawrence centre is a mere 5 mins flat walk away, ( in fact across the road! ) Perfect after the totally awesome breakfast choice of Cereals, Juices, Tea, Coffee and an amazing choice of Small, Medium & (see photo) The LARGE BREAKFAST !!! all while enjoying the news on the large TV screens available. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay and one that i will really look forward to staying again in the future. Nothing.. It was great value and a wonderful experience
- Maureen (9/5): Great stay, at a place I once walked out of years ago, much improved and staff were spot on. - The room was clean and bright, with a very comfortable bed. The shower en-suite was clean and the shower had great water pressure. My only comment would be that it was quite a big step up, but I managed it.
I did not have breakfast as I only eat a small bowl of cereal and £10 for a cooked breakfast and continental breakfast seemed a lot for my appetite. But it did look good and if you like a breakfast I would say go for it.
I did eat an evening meal of Steak and chips, which was very tasty. The shower curtain was not quite long enough and I had to be careful that the water did not splash out of the cubicle.
My room was next to the fire doors leading to the main stairs and it slammed very loudly several times and woke me.
- Thomas (8/5): Short overnight stay - Room was clean and tidy comfy firm bed breakfast was fine staff were very friendly and there was a nice atmosphere within the bar Could do with a privacy film in onsuite to the window as exposed to the street
- Kevin (9/5): - Everything was very good.
Excellent location Could not find any negativity
- Stefan (9/5): - Location was perfect for me.Bus stop 40 m away. Clean comfortable bed and modern bathroom/shower. Great value. Nothing
- Ashleigh (10/5): -
- Irene (5/5): Not a good experience; could not wait for the morning to come! - Location- there is a supermarket for anything you need close by. They gave me a room that smelt of urine. The reception woman changed it to a single room while I booked a double room. She wasn’t even bothered to come and check the room and just handed me another key!
In the single room the drains /soil pipe made alot of noise when washing hands on the sink, having shower and using the toilet.
When the room next door used the toilet it made similar loud noises which woke me up few times at night.
The carpets are dirty and walls are not clean either.
Few parking places outside just off the main road. Not a secure parking.
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Tim (7/5): Good accommodation but neighbours let it diwn - Clean accommodation friendly staff No hot water.
Noisy pub across road
Cars racing around one way curcuit
- Yeng Chinn (8/5): -
- Luke (8/5): Local lovely - Nice local location pub staff not the nicest Nothing really
- Nick (1/5): - Was unable to check in after 10pm No on site staff after hours.
- john (8/5): - Check in was smooth and staff were friendly.
- Sim (5/5): -
- Kevin (1/5): not a safe or comfortable stay. - I would not have booked this place if I had known that they let rooms out to vulnerable people, there was an incident and the police were called and the staff were put in a very difficult situation.
This was a dangerous situation for everyone.
- Christine (3/5): -
- Tyrone (5/5): It is what it is an old pub - Nothing Noisey loud music until 12pm
Noisy road and banging doors didn't get a good sleep
- Bianca (6/5): -
- Matthew (3/5): - Room was nice for the money Noisey very noisy didn't get to sleep until 1 in the morning. Would have been better off sleeping in the car
- Rachel (10/5): Clean, friendly staff, good location - The staff were very helpful. The room had everything that I needed - TV, hairdryer, iron, towels etc etc. It is an older property, but it was obvious it was well cleaned and cared for. I didn’t have time for breakfast, but it looked very nice and a neighbour told me about how good they were. The property was well located for what I needed and the price was reasonable too.
- David (8/5): For the price I think this is the best value hotel, I will stay at the Sun again - For the price I think this is the best value hotel I've stayed in in the area A bit basic, but that's what I paid for
- Caitlin (10/5): -
- Craig (7/5): -
- Norma (10/5): Great place to stay - I've stayed here a few times when I stay in nottingham as its so close to where I need to be, the staff are friendly and lovely and having hot food available is perfect 👌 The only issue is that it's so close to other pubs/clubs it can be a bit noisy if your a light sleeper like me but doesn't bother me too much
- Rose (4/5): Rubbish breakfast, rubbish shower and nosiey - The bed was comfortable and the location was good The shower had really low pressure, was more like a trickle. I wasn’t able to properly wash my hair due to this. The room faced onto the road outside and we could hear everything, and also could hear word for word what other guests were saying to each other from our room (I was kept awake from another guest snoring). We had paid for breakfast however it was very disappointing- I had the continental option but was served extremely stale pastries and the ‘fresh fruit’ that was offered was off. I kept on having to ask for things from the staff but was made to feel like we were bothering them for the service we had paid for. This was to the point we decided not to go for breakfast the next day. We would really appreciate a refund from the breakfast as this was really disappointing (also it says on the menus that continental breakfast is £6.99 but we paid £10?!)
- A D M SHAW (5/5): - Staff were friendly, room was clean, good location and price. Only down side was the shower pressure was painfully weak.
- Denise (7/5): OK for a short stay. - The room was clean, and the bed was really comfortable. Also nice and warm. All the stairs, if staying in the future, would opt for a lower floor. Also very loud music, so not a great night's sleep, unfortunately. Also could not have had any tomato, as didn't get any on the burger meal, or on breakfast.
- Susan (7/5): - Friendly place, my room had all facilities clean felt safe. Bed wasn't very comfy
- Mark (7/5): - The shower in room 12 was a total waste of time no power whatsoever
- PETER (10/5): Excellent value and lovely breakfast. - I was staying in Eastwood for a works Christmas party. The only other option was twice the price and a typical big hotel. The Sun is right in the heart of the town and close to all the other bars. It was "Mad Friday / Black eye Friday" so the how safe is the area reflects that. I have stayed at the Sun twice before and there was no issues. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Excellent value for money. I will stay here again. It was a bit hectic in the area of the pub but that was due to the day and not the fault of the Sun. I will stay here again.
- Jamie (5/5): -
- David (8/5): fine but noisy. - Room was fine, but there was a lack of food in the bar for dinner. several shortages. unfortunately when the pubs get out its very noisy, then a club later.
- Patton (6/5): Did what it said on the box - Good breakfast poor parking not enough
- Hawthorne (7/5): I would stay again if lighting qnd water pressure was sorted. - Staff really great, helpful, kind, told me everything I needed to know.
Clean room, comfortable, up to date on decor. Shower was bad.. for any sort of pressure it had to be cold.
The light was so dim I couldn't see anything in my room.
- John (9/5): Ideal for shopping in Nottingham - Nice rooms ,near car park £1 for 24 hrs
Staff very friendly Nothing every thing okay
- John paul (8/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): -
- James (2/5): - Location On arrival told no hot water 8-9am, whole reason for staying was to be closer to work and get up later before heading to work.
Shower gel was bone dry, not a close to being empty but totally dead, should have been changed at least a week ago.
Out of some breakfast items, offered gluten free first only when challenged was I offered other items.
The only thing for this hotel is how close it is to where I need to be otherwise id avoid.
- Chandu (10/5): Excellent -
- martin (9/5): Ideal for short notice stay , food and drink available - Warm clean central.parking nearby None
- Yvonne (8/5): A comfortable stay, good value and a good location to access the M1 and Nottingham. - It was comfortable, the room had all the facilities you would need and a lovely en-suite. It was above a pub and you would not have know. As there was no noise from it. The breakfast was tasty. I had no issues with the property

- Owen (6/5): -
