- C6318NAstephanies (4/5): Disappointed - We were recommended this hotel for a wedding guest stay, but unfortunately our experience has been disappointing so far. The towels in our room were stained and visibly worn, and the red blanket on the bed appeared unwashed and had a strong body odor smell. When we asked the front desk for a clean replacement, we were told they weren’t sure if another one was available, which was concerning. Overall, this property has not met the level of cleanliness or quality we typically expect from a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel.

We kregen vaak te horen dat bepaalde wijnen op waren of dat ze niet meer geserveerd worden. Haal ze dan van de kaart af. Algehele indruk rommelig.

- Quest200207 (10/5): Tranquil hotel w great service - This is a very tranquil hotel in which is just far enough from the roar of the city to have a great escape but still close enough to enjoy Raleigh. In addition, I was able to experience some top notch service. Sometimes it’s the small things. I went to dinner at the restaurant and Jayana went out of her way to get me a Diet Coke. It was a small gesture to her but huge to me as I know Marriott is a Pepsi company. She could have told me that getting a Coke was not possible but instead she went out of her way to get me one. It’s this kind of service which sets a server apart. Thank you Jayana! I hope you are around the next time I stay at this hotel.

- gamingtildawn14 (8/5): Not a Frat House - Booked The Stateview online for a birthday weekend in Raleigh. When we arrived, we noticed the hotel was practically on NC State University campus grounds. At first, we were apprehensive. Was this going to be like a frat house vibe in this hotel? The answer is No. The hotel is beautiful. The service was great and there is a fun not your typical restaurant in the hotel called Flask & Beaker. The only downfall of this hotel is the parking. There is no valet. The parking lot is down a huge hill and then you walk up a flight of stairs to get back to the hotel entrance. Not ideal for disabled guests. We had someone in a wheelchair and while there is a ramp back up to the hotel from the parking lot; it is a 45 degree angle up a hill. Not ideal. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the hotel is next to a lake; so picturesque. We had a king size bed and we found it a little low to the floor. Also, they use 1 ply toilet paper- come on Marriott step up your t.p game. Reasonable rates and very close to the downtown scene. The staff are friendly and attentive. Enjoy!

- 250missyj (10/5): Incredible Hotel - I attended a small conference (230 people) and stayed on site. This hotel is beautiful, quiet, clean, and the staff were so kind. The room is spacious and had a beautiful view of the lake. I was able to sit in the comfy chaise lounge and look out the huge window at lake in the afternoons and it made me feel like I was on a little vacation! I will also say in terms of the conference set up, the staff was very helpful and the food that we had for the conference was amazing. I've never left a hotel review before but I had such a great experience at this hotel that I felt compelled to do so.

- X6360NOkaties (2/5): DO BETTER - I don't even know where to start with our stay, it was a disaster. 2 days before our arrival we were notified that on our day of check out the water would be turned off for the entire hotel at 8:00AM. I asked if there was any compensation for this, and nothing AT ALL was done. They said that they would provide bottled water. (not sure that will help with showers). Upon arrival the lady couldn't figure out my reservation (that I had already paid for through hotels.com) and charged me 5 different times for the stay and deposit. YES THAT IS CORRECT I HAD 5 FULL STAY CHARGES on my card. It has been over a week and I am still trying to get one of the charges off. The actual hotel was nice and clean, and if it wasn't for the people that work there, I may return. I am sorry but you need to do better Stateview Hotel, when you take water away at 8:00AM until 4PM, you need to give SOME kind of compensation. Some people in our party were not even notified of this issue . THEN when you realize you have OVER charged a customer 5 times, you should more than likely contact them and I dont know, APOLOGIZE? This is something that their higher ups should know about because if I am not the only person that has had problems, they are loosing potential customers in the future. **CHECK BEHIND THEM ON YOUR CHECK INS**

The tv was slow while trying to watch Netflix and the remote was hard to control the tv. I think it’s time to update the tv’s.
- K9849PHkevins (4/5): Charging to Park is Over the Top - The StateView is a really nice hotel in which we've stayed many times. The hotel itself was great again this time. However, it is completely unacceptable that the hotel now charges $12 per day to park. When asked why they charge for parking, the answer was because of brand consistency with other Autograph Collections. I understand consistency on the product you are providing, but parking is not an area in which consistency is necessary or expected from customers. The parking lot was half full, the hotel is in a fairly remote area, and charging to park is simple greed and extortion. And, if you aren't very careful, the parking app defaults to three days of charges for a two night stay if you don't change the times. And to top it off, the signage under that parking signs clearly state the hotel is not responsible for theft or damages to cars. While that's pretty standard in any hotel parking lot, I would expect you to have full-time security guards circulating the parking lot to ensure cars remain safe and no theft occurs. I've stayed at this property many times, but will not choose from the many other properties for the same price that do not charge for parking. Raleigh has many to choose from that isn't robbing customers of ridiculous parking fees. There are ZERO customers who would leave The StateView Hotel and be disappointed they didn't have to pay to park like they did in other Autograph Collections hotels where it was more understandable. Do Better!

- Paola Forigua (8/5): The room and the view are worth it but not the room service. Please include the parking in the price - I loved the view from the fifth floor, the location, and the cleanliness. I did not like that you have to pay $12 extra for the parking. Also, I ordered room service and the lady knocked on the door and didn't even wait one full minute for me to open the door. Then, she took about ten to fifteen minutes to come back with the food. Last but not least, I ordered a burger well done and it wasn't well done, but after the bad experience with the lady that delivered it I didn't want to "bother" them anymore and I also didn't want to wait for the food to be redone.

Cons: Checkin was not smooth and even after provide all the details, it was checked in with different name. While restaurant was good, staffs were bit serious and unfriendly .
- BrentHallGroup (2/5): Terrible experience from start to finish. THEY ONLY EMAIL. LAZY!!! - This place is run by individuals who are not interested in the reputation of this once great hotel. The sales team is lazy. I traveled 7 hours to advance a show we were doing and had a scheduled appointment with the staff to discuss the 50 rooms we wanted to book. They forgot and did not show up. I called the manager JUAN, multiple times with no return call. The quote they finally emailed was $60 over the initial quote and more than listed online. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. I hope the owners look at this. I NEVER write reviews but in this case it was a must. 30 city tour and this was Raleigh.

We were not expecting a buffet of continental breakfast food to cost our family of 4, who barely ate anything to be over 100$. There was no indication of the costs prior to grabbing the few items we did eat. We did not get anything fancy or anything to drink that was either a water, juice and one hot coffee. And then a added 15% gratuity for that. Very unhappy with that.

- ricos45 (2/5): It appears that someone on staff stole a couple of my packages - TLDR: It appears that someone on staff stole a couple of my packages. Before I arrived to stay for a week, my wife called in and asked if we could have several packages shipped there (since I was coming in from out of country). The person she talked to confirmed it was fine and that any packages received would be kept in a "secure closet". A couple of my packages which were verified to have been delivered "went missing" and were never found. What's more, it's obvious that one of the packages which should have contained two pairs of shoes was opened and one of the pairs was taken. I was able to locate the other pair which was just sitting in it's shoebox indicating it had been removed from the shipping box. It's also clear that there was no "secure closet". There was a closet next to the front desk that was left wide open and other packages were just left in a short hall behind the front counter. Any level of staff or people having access to that area could take things. The staff did try to help me find my packages and we were able to locate most of them, but if they were unable to secure my items they should have just told us that instead of me having to go back to the desk multiple times to try and find my shipments and clearly having some of them stolen. Ultimately they just threw up their hands and said "sorry I guess you're out of luck on those". This represents a couple hundred dollars of losses for me.

I didn’t feel like the current staff was very friendly- they didn’t do anything wrong, but other places I have stayed in the past year have been more welcoming. Also, I was annoyed that they now charge for parking. It’s not a garage, so I don’t see a reason for suddenly charging when it’s been free before. Total money grab for no reason.

Beware that hotel guests will pay an extra $12 a day to park, which probably wasn't advertised when you booked. (It wasn't when we booked months ago.)

On top of this, the TV was not working upon arrival and had to call the front desk multiple times, a fire alarm test happened during my stay, and the elevators were not working!! I also had to pay for parking. For the price I paid it was 100% not worth it! I've stayed in budget hotels with better customer service!

Had one issue that was more of annoyance than a major concern- my room had a broken closet door so I couldn’t hang up clothes or get iron out and staff was not as responsive as I would have liked. Took several calls to get someone to assist with getting an iron but closet door was not fixed while I was there. Otherwise the place was good and clean. And bar staff were very nice.
- Michael (10/5): - No notice ahead of time that there was a manditory $12 parking fee for all guests. No options exist by Marriot to avoid this fee.
- Kendal (10/5): - Parking is no longer included in your stay. You have to pay via smartphone. We had breakfast included in our visit but it was limited to the buffet in the restaurant. The food was good but we usually prefer to eat in our room. Not a big deal, just wanted others to be aware. I would do the same thing again.

The two things that I wasn't crazy about is that I ordered extra towels that never came and I thought the parking situation was very inconvenient. Especially since it cost $24 to park for the night and then had to walk a pretty far distance to get to the hotel and back again the next day.

- X2732CQnelsons (2/5): They robbed me up $400. - I made reservations for a few extra days in October for a wedding outside of the group rate block three months in advance. The website said I had a 2 day prior cancellation notice with no charge. I cancelled several days later, more than two months in advance, but they charged me anyway. I called customer service, they were horrible, talked over me, and were rude. while talking to the customer service, I was on my laptop and made reservations for the same dates and upon check out it clearly stated that I was able to cancel with no charge two days before. Be careful.
- Judy (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing stay - We loved our stay at the StateView Hotel. It's a beautiful, serene location. Our room was comfortable and clean and provided a relaxing stay. My credit card was mistakenly charged several times but was eventually resolved. I would definitely recommend this property for future stays.

- TKrak22 (2/5): Probably my worst hotel experience ever - $450 was stolen out of my room and hotel management refused to do anything about it and denied it then when I tried to have breakfast, I waited forever at the host stand with no greeting even though there were three people walking in the restaurant, just totally ignoring me when I was finally seated I ordered an oatmeal and a coffee and after 30 minutes I walked out and not even my coffee had been poured.

- Douglas (4/5): - I was disappointed with this hotel. I selected it because it was an Autograph Collection hotel, which I thought meant top quality. The air conditioning did not work in our room. The first morning, the water in the shower did not get hot. We requested a different room and a refund for the first night. The staff did both. The second room was better, but the AC still not work very well. The hallways were also quite warm. The hotel restaurant was just okay. This hotel was a disappointment. It was close to the NC State campus, but still can't recommend the property.

There were two ladies at covering the bar, restaurant and patio area, they moved fast and do a great job but they are doing everything themselves with no support. Es ist sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Wasser- und Eisspender zum Auffüllen von Flaschen vorhanden. Tischtennistisch und weitere Spiele stehen kostenlos zur Verfügung. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir hatten ein großes, gut belüftetes (auch wenndie Fenster nicht geöffnetwerdenkönnen), sehr schönes Zimmer. alles sehr sauber und schön. Bequeme Betten, sehr gute Ausstattung auch im Zimmer. Sehr gutes Frühstück! Alles tiptop! Der Pool ist leider eher eine Schmutzlacke. Keine intakte Dusche, daher kein Duschen vor dem Baden möglich. Das sieht man auch am Wasser... 😖
- Pottenbrunn43 (8/5): Quiet location on an university campus - Located in the North Carolina State University campus, this wasn’t a problem for us but I understand why it could have been for others. One definitely needed a car for this location. On the plus side, it was quiet and peaceful. It was about a 10 minute drive into the city and parking was never an issue. Our room was a good size. Clean and comfortable. Food was plentiful at breakfast with a choice of hot and cold food. On the downside the restaurant was closed between 11am and 4pm, so it wasn’t possible y to o get decent cup of coffee in the afternoon.

Amazing GM, bartender (AA lady with white streaks- THE BEST!!) and front desk staff. Cons: Food was not good. Waitress totally overwhelmed and screaming at younger waitress EVERY DAY, complimentary breakfast was limited. Housekeeping didn't come for 2/5 days, no pool towels

- trusted-advice-1 (10/5): Serene experience, wonderful outdoor spaces - My wife and I had "staycation" here for the Fourth of July. We were looking for a place to relax and unwind and the StateView fit the bill. The King size room we stayed in was quiet and with the blackout shades we were able to sleep in. Being able to stay on-side and have dinner and breakfast was what we were looking for. The outdoor spaces are the true reason to visit. Eating on the patio looking at the trees was serene. And, lounging at the pool helped us really get away for a night. We'll be back.

The rooms were spacious and clean. One could relax by the pool. It was slightly out of town in the university campus, in quiet location. The town centre or shops were about a 10 minute drive. Breakfast was good but a little confusing. Driving through the campus was a bit of a trek. The restaurant closed after lunch and it wasn’t possible to get a hot cup of coffee before 4 o’clock.

- ladylana (6/5): Average Hotel - I was staying at the StateView hotel for a site visit and had high expectations based on the conference planning committee's recommendations. After two nights, I would not say it was a bad hotel, just average and to lower expectations and you should be fine. Pros Very close to the NC State University Complimentary parking Outdoor deck and walking trails were lovely Cons Like other reviews, the front desk service was mixed. The first person grabbed my ID and handed me my keys without any explanation. Additional questions I had were met with indifference and one-word answers. I went back downstairs after dropping off my bags and the second person rolled out the red carpet. The beds were FIRM! If you like firm beds, you will be in heaven...I'm a side sleeper and needed extra pillows to protect my side and back. Breakfast at the restaurant was iffy...service was lackluster and the food was ok. If I did not have a complimentary voucher, I would not have paid to eat there . Location is not close to other restaurants, shops etc. I would recommend a car especially since the parking is complimentary. They did not email me a receipt for my hotel stay. I had to call a few days later to request it. I will probably need to stay diligent to get the points for my stay.
