Guest Reviews
- Rosa (8/5): A lovely rural experience, especially for families with children. - It is a great location for a family getaway. There are a farm animals for the kids to enjoy and a lovely bush walk. Considering how cold the region can get in winter, the heating facilities were very good. It was more than adequate and size for our group of seven. Cleanliness was a big issue for me.
Wi-Fi provided at the house was okay but did drop out fairly regularly.
- Ludwig (9/5): -
- Sindhu (8/5): Nice quiet stay - It was perfect for us, especially for the kids. They enjoyed the game room activities and time with the farm animals Internet and phone reception was a problem as we had to go into town to complete important matters.
- Trung (10/5): Excellent - Very relaxing Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Country charm. - The location was great. Having everything provided was fantastic, including milk and juice, eggs, bacon, bread, condiments etc for breakfast.
The feeding of the Alpacas, Goats, and Peacocks gave us the country feel, but the highlight was watching our 18 month old granddaughter chasing the chickens through the garden. Mixed emotions about the lack of internet. Great that the 20 something year olds couldn't have their phones shoved in their faces for hours on end, but the inability to call anyone was a little frustrating when trying to organise dinner with others.
- Karen (10/5): Do yourself a favour and stay - A fabulous eclectic farm stay, tons of room and everything you could need and some. Close to all the fun things, super quiet and relaxing, loved all the animals. Want to go there again, and stay for longer Nothing, we just felt so relaxed. There was no wifi but that was fabulous, we talked, relaxed, played cards.
- Cindy (9/5): Beautiful country stay, we will be back. - Very relaxing, fantastic girls trip, loved the alpacas, goats, peacocks. The fire was perfect, large kitchen, plenty of room, large bedrooms. Lots of board games, up words & wine made for entertaining night. No internet, which was perfect. 0 negatives
- Madonna (10/5): We love Windswept...so did our friends....like I said.....we are going to make this our yearly place - We have been before and I think this is going to be a yearly event for us....the location is gorgeous and what is provided is amazing....plenty of food for breakfasts all provided....everything you could possibly want for cooking....and plenty of wood for fires. Also heaters and electric blankets in the rooms!!!! And the peacocks, goats and llamas are wonderful!!! It is a home away from home!!! Nothing
- Jo (9/5): Great short stay in a fantastic location and charming house - The house was great and very well stocked with everything you could need. We enjoyed access to feed the goats and Alpacas.
- Marissa (10/5): Perfect for a getaway with a couple of families with kids. - It was such a beautiful home. It was large enough for our group. We didn’t feel piled in together. The breakfast provided to cook had something for everyone. And the animals were incredible! Who knew I’d be spending time with peacocks in that part of the work!
- Fischer (9/5): A beautiful location with a great breakfast package - The location was great for our needs. The breakfast package was awesome. Nil
- Madeline (10/5): Thanks for having us! We loved this family friendly house with all the little extra touches..’ - We loved our stay! Great locations, heaps of space and lots of communal areas. Two nights wasn’t enough to enjoy every part of the accomodation let alone the town. The kids LOVED feeding the Alpacas, we had plenty of firewood (sadly it wasn’t cold enough to justify a long fire), the breakfast provided was fabulous and plentiful, the walk around the property was marked and a great way to work up an appetite. Plus it’s on the same road as most of the wineries and only 6 minutes into town. Kids loved the games room, the toys, books and games in the house and the DVD player is a novelty for little kids. They even provided marshmallow cooking skewers..We will be coming back!
- Chantelle (10/5): Charming, inviting and super comfy country retreat. With a warm jacket windswept is a sure winner! - Real sense of warmth, generosity and hospitality from the hosts and the space and the thoughtful inclusions. Gorgeous private country setting. Tame farm animals to greet, feed and pose. Iconic granite boulders to conquer. How’s the serenity! None of the local attractions are too far but Windswept had particularly great proximity to Ballandean’s top attractions- Twisted Gum (for impressive wine tasting with passionate and down to earth sustainability champion, winemaker and all round lovely human, Michelle) & Balancing Heart (for fabulous, picturesque sunset landscape, fire pits, wine tasting, live music and pizzas)
- De (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gelena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (10/5): A little slice of heaven - An absolute gem. A wonderful welcoming house that has everyrhing you need for a wonderful stay. The host were lovely and helpful and the little touches, like the bacon, eggs, sausages and a well stacked pantry certainly was the icing on the cake. Loved being able to feed the peacocks, Alpacas and Goats and stroll through the property. I guarantee anyone would love a stay here
- Luke (10/5): Great stay and excellent host - Excellent location and very accommodating host.
- Troy (9/5): Relaxing place for a large family - Loved the small touches, such as breakfast supplies. Being able to go for a bushwalk on the property was a bonus, as was interacting with the farm animals. Very hard to criticise anything. Being able to access the lower bedroom internally would have been good in our circumstances. Would have been interesting to read about the history of the house and property.
- Amanda (8/5): Very pleasant stay in a lovely area. - Very spacious. The hosts thought of everything we could need including breakfast food. We loved the pool table. The mattresses
- Kellee (10/5): Great getaway with friends! - Easy to find and close to everything. Paul was very accommodating when we asked for an early check. The fireplace was stacked and ready to light. The breakfast provided was generously supplied with eggs, bacon, muffins, tomatoes and pancakes and snacks. Lots of room so a great place to stay with a group of friends. Just needs a full length mirror somewhere in the house for us girls.
- Asoka (8/5): Very good -
- Lynelle (10/5): Very accommodating and generous hosts. Breakfast provisions were great. - It was quaint and homely.
- Heather (9/5): Enjoyed a peaceful country retreat. We will be back. - We booked so we could attend Apple and Grape festival events in Stanthorpe but it is such a lovely spot you need not leave. The creek, the animals and the serenity are just awesome.
The breakfast items supplied are so generous.
It was such a lovely country stay. I highly recommend 😊 No complaints from us 😉
- Xin (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (10/5): Wonderful country retreat - generous hosts - highly recommended. - The breakfast food was abundantly generous - more than enough for both mornings. Lovely surrounds and plenty of room to move and relax and enjoy.
- Carolina (10/5): Cozy, clean and spacious house where we instantly felt at home - It is a very spacious and cozy house. The hosts had made every effort to make us feel welcome, including lighting the fireplace before our arrival, which we appreciated since it was unusually cold and rainy for this time of the year. There were plenty of breakfast items for us to cook our breakfast (bacon, eggs, bread, butter, orange juice). Quiet location. Our daughter appreciated being able to feed and pat the animals on the property. There were plenty of toys, books, and board games to keep everyone entertained. Nothing, we really enjoyed our stay. My only comment for future guests who might need internet connectivity is that there is hardly any Wi-Fi or even mobile service (we are with Telstra). We appreciated the forced period of being offline, but it could be worth noting for those who rely on the internet.
- Russell (8/5): Very good -
- Troy (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (7/5): Good - Great location. Quirky house. Loved the animals ( food to feed them is provided)and walking on the property which is lovely. Very generous breakfast provided plus little extras like salt ,pepper, coffee pods. Lots of firewood which is good.Nice comfy couches and well equipped kitchen. Most beds were comfy. Small heaters in the bedrooms didn't cope with negative temperatures and in one bedroom the heater didn't work.
- Ancy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Madonna (9/5): Wonderful place and great value especially with several couples sharing the fee. - Great location. Great interaction with alpacas and goats. Inclusions were fantastic. Way more than we expected. Bed was too firm for us but other couples found them comfortable.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - very comfortable & clean cottage. lovely fireplace that kept us warm. 3 bathrooms is great for a group. great location. definitely recommend
- Jude (5/5): We escaped the hustle and bustle of city life during our stay out at Ballandean. - Weather conditions were perfect during our stay.
Breakfast was good. It should have been somewhat brighter at the time of checking in. It seemed quite dark as the lights were not turned on.
Staff questioning us about the number of guests in an unfriendly way (how many people are there?) as soon as we got off the vehicle, when we clearly made the booking for 4 people.
Online images of the property does not match the real situation, perhaps needs updating.
- Josephine (10/5): Awesome Experience. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - very homey and the free brekky was very yummy. 1 night is not enough. Thanks Paul. Very accommodating experience☺️
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - great property with lots of space for adults and kids!
- Cheryl (7/5): Simple and comfortable. - Paul was kind and helpful. Breakfast choices were very good. Could not get mobile or internet access at all during our stay.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Belinda (10/5): Exceptional - very homely and relaxing
shame it was only for 1 night
- Katy (8/5): Very good -
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joan (5/5): Passable - The house needs a lot of work to be rented out at such a price. Cobwebs on the ceiling and mould due to the excess rain. Beds were comply and we appreciated the log fire and fresh eggs.
- Lydia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhondda (7/5): We did enjoy our stay. - The good’s left for breakfast was most generous. Much thought was put into the way of board games, books for reading. Lots of chairs, cushions to relax on. Wood supply for fires most adequate. Food for animals ample supply. Also liked that we where given privacy. The kitchen could have been cleaner, grease around stove, some crockery, knives, forks quite soiled. Tiles in bathrooms need cleaning. Cobwebs present around roof Bedroom downstairs very damp needs airing. Grounds are becoming a little unloved
- Lee-anne (7/5): Good -
