Had to convince the owners to open the pool for us. Leaky faucet in tub. Had to giggle toilett handle to stop water flowing. Bad positioning of armoir in room which killed available space. Recommend removing armoir.

Too cluttered also. Dead and live roaches were encountered. Battery in the TV remote was corroded, so we never were able to use the TV and DVD player.

The outside of the building could use a good cleaning which is your first impression. The interior had a musty odor. This could have been a wonderful experience of the past.

The house is beautiful and filled with antique and historical artifacts through out. The best part is Clint and Dennis made my girlfriend and I feel so at home and welcome that we didn't want to leave. I totally recommend Belle Oaks to anyone headed towards Gonzales, Texas.

The Belle Oaks made you feel like you went back to Victorian time. We had the honeymoon suite for our anniversary. It was fabulous. We plan to go back again.
Candace (10/5): - Oh my goodness this Mansion was fabulous! My husband and I went for our 25th Anniversary. We had such a wonderful time the owners would visit with you and tell you all about the mansion and breakfast or if you want privacy you could be left alone in another dinning room. We chose to hear about the history. Later we enjoyed music from a player Grand piano that played by itself. The breakfast could not have been any better and they were so accommodating when I told them I was gluten free. We had a scrumptious, soufflé, bacon, lemon tarts (gluten free) fresh fruit, etc.... We had the softest bed and pillows, very roomy. We also had snacks and drinks provided. If you forget your robe don't worry they have one for you. The grounds were gorgeous. I can't say enough about this place and we are going back soon.

There is so much history in this property. We have already put several photos on Facebook. Gonzales is a great town to spend a couple of days in.
Anne (10/5): Take a break - Beautiful home in a peaceful setting. Walking distance to the Square and good restaurants. There's a nice pool out back and breakfast is very good. Glad to find this gem! It's an easy drive from Houston, San Antonio, and Austin if you're looking for a break. Great chance to see the birthplace of Texas freedom without the crowds.

Sitting out on the porch was so relaxing, and the neighborhood is so quiet. The grounds are gorgeous! Would be nice to visit here when we can use the pool! Matthew (10/5): Quaint and quiet - Comfortable room in a quiet area. My only really concern was the the shower ceiling height. At 6’1” I felt like I had to bend over to keep from hitting it. Probably not the case but I wasn’t a fan of the configuration of that particular bathroom. Other rooms might be different. The area was nice and quiet. There were an few attractions and eateries nearby. Overall a good experience.

The service was excellent, and the home was historic and beautiful. I was disappointed in our room however. It was dark, dusty, and there was a dead bug behind the nightstand on my side of the bed that I discovered when trying to find an outlet to charge my phone. The bed was not very comfortable either. We were able to look at a couple of the other rooms, and they looked bright and beautiful. I would stay again, but not in this same room.
John (10/5): A Step Back Through Time - Words can not do justice to the tranquil and finely appointed surroundings we found ourselves in as we stayed at the bed and breakfast, Belle Oaks in Gonzales, TX. With every step we felt ourselves stepping back in time to the start of the twentieth century. From the detailed mosaic, parquet hardwood flooring to the intricate chair and crown molding, this home exhibits craftmanship rarely found today as builders cut corners and mass produce homes at alarming speeds. The yard was equally relaxing and grand. Honestly, it far surpassed my highest expectations. The breakfast was fantastic too, consisting of large homemade cinnamon rolls, cut fresh fruit, and a yummy egg quiche casserole. The managing couple were very friendly and helpful as well. Just a beautiful experience.

Loretta (10/5): Lovely restored B&B - This B&B was in walking distance of the center of town. The rooms are so well done. We were able to walk around and view the non-occupied rooms. The breakfast was excellent! Fresh fruit, such a delight.
Lilly (6/5): Beautiful historic home. - Very nice B&B for the price. Lovely grounds. The only problem was there was no thermostat in our room. The heater was blazing in our room, so we had to open the bedroom & bathroom windows & turn on the ceiling fan. It was 45 degrees outside, but we were sweating unless we opened the windows.
