It’s secluded and beautiful by the lake. The beds were comfortable and enjoyed the bath products included. The property was looking very worn. The front steps need to be painted and the downstairs walk out wasn’t swept. Everything is dated and there was too much furniture crammed in the living room. No blankets available to use out on the deck. The electric kettle was broken and the kitchen table was wobbly. It was quite dusty and needed a good clean in the corners. Nothing major but feeling like it’s in need of some updates.

Karen (8/5): - Good location, close to Ganges (less than a 10 minute drive). Property was modern, clean and spacious. Kitchen was well equipped with most things you would need for a short stay. There were a couple of fans provided, which was great as it was quite hot during our stay, one of them was very loud though. Nice view of the lake and peaceful area. Self check in and check out was problem free. We stayed in a lakeview duplex (no. 13). Bed and pillows were not that comfortable (very fat pillows!), luckily we took our own. Only one hand towel in each bathroom, two would have been nice, also better quality toilet paper and a box of tissues would have been appreciated. The Cottages have a very late check in - 5pm and an early check out - 10am. I did request an earlier check in and was able to get in at 3pm, which was much better.

Davis (8/5): Really lovely place just wish we had known about the awkward design and limited privacy it afforded. - Clean, well appointed, quiet location, beautiful, easy places to walk with the dog (and allowed dogs), great porch to hang out on, good kitchen set up, and comfy beds. All was really lovely except the lack of doors for the bedrooms - it is just a strange design with a loft bedroom upstairs and basement bedroom. Neither have a door and sound traveled. Glad it was just our family and not two couples.

Right in nature feeling like you were far from everything but actually wasn’t. So many birds. Drawers for cutlery and plates not clean so we had to wash everything before using. Ivy (8/5): Roomy, cozy and homey, with all the amenities. Excellent place to stay when on SSI - Very spacious. Loved the high ceilings and lighting. It had all the amenities, so we were able to stay in to cook dinner and relax in the evenings (which was convenient because everything on the island closed at 5!) Its location to town was also fantastic—just a short drive away. Because of its location near the lake, it was a bit buggy, which prevented us from sitting outside at night. Next time, we’ll be sure to bring bug repellant!

Naomi (8/5): Fantastic cottage and location, great place to explore from. Cleaning standard at the property let it down a little. - Fantastic location and haven for relaxation. Very comfortable beds. The property was not very clean. One bathroom bin was full from the previous guest unfortunately (with used diapers). So we had to deal with that. Dust and general cleaning was quite poor. There is no dishwasher in the kitchen, some of the items were quite dirty and greasy. Not washed well. One tea towel was a bit hard for four days with a lot of time spent there. Felt like there should be been better supplies left.

When we asked for it be cleaned we were told it was the person on the desk’s day off! Someone was sent to clean it. There was a major windstorm & the power went out for 8 hours. There were 2 half used candles but no matches or lighter. No body came to check on damage or to see if people were all right. There was no management presence at all. Very disappointing.

It was a place that allowed you to relax and take in that slow island life. One of the couches did have some animal fur or hair on it. It triggered some mild allergies.

Jennifer (9/5): Can’t wait to return and experience in the spring or summer to make use of the activities available. - The cottage was cosy and warm on arrival, the beds were very comfortable, there is abundant natural light (but also blinds to block for sleep), serene beautiful view and the layout provided nice separate quarters. Really thoughtful little touches like local coffee and soap and holiday decorations made our stay extra lovely. The lack of doors on the bedrooms makes privacy and waking at different times a bit challenging, so I would just recommend sharing with close family and/or friends.

Nadine (5/5): Preis-Leistung nicht angemessen - Doe Unterkunft war ausreichend groß und ist auf der Insel sehr zentral gelegen. Es war nicht sonderlich sauber. Hundehaare überall im Unteren Geschoss und doe Küche war sehr dreckig. Essensreste in der Spüle, dem Kühlschrank und in den Schränken. Die Eingangstür konnte wegen eines Defektes nicht abgeschlossen werden und unter der Servicenummer war niemand zu erreichen.

Anne (8/5): Cozy lakeside spot with easy access to central Ganges - Easy to get into the unit even after office hours because we were given a door code with instructions on where to park and access the unit. I was unhappy that the fireplace didn't work and we weren't allowed to use a gas fire pit outside.
Fiona (10/5): Wonderful tranquil and close to nature Great for family get-together - The cottage was well fitted out, all the equipment we needed was there. It was clean, warm and had comfy beds superb, tranquil views over the lake too. An added bonus was the canoes and paddle boards. We even had a swim in the lake.
Deborah (10/5): Absolutely wonderful stay – sublime location, excellent facilities, spotlessly clean. - Everything. I wanted to have a special cottage experience and this exceeded my expectations. It was everything I wanted a more. The place was immaculate. The facilities were excellent. I hesitated to book somewhere where there were quite a few other cottages nearby – and this was a 'semi-detached' – as I worried about noise from other visitors. The surroundings were so quiet, I worried that one noisy family might ruin my time, but I shouldn't have worried. It was very peaceful. We went to the office just once, and that was to say hello and how much we loved it. Thank you. What didn't I like? That I had to leave. We will be back, and for a much longer stay.
Houshan (6/5): - Pros and Cons Pros: Spacious, multi-level layout with plenty of room for four. Peaceful lakeside setting, close to Ganges, and surrounded by songbirds — very tranquil overall. Cons: Although this is a mid-range property, the furnishings feel dated and the overall cleanliness could be better. Staff were generally responsive, but I was taken aback when they laughed after I mentioned that my husband had fallen — quite hard — while carrying our dinner, which ended up scattered across the front yard. The fall was caused by a sizeable, hidden hole in the grass beside the pathway that’s clearly worn from regular use between the parking spot and the front door. When I told the manager, she brushed it off, saying she’d fallen in the same hole herself. If it’s a known hazard, why hasn’t it been fixed? That really speaks to the level of care and attention at this property. Overall: Would I stay there again? Not likely.

Paula (9/5): - Beautiful location. Lovely cottages. The lake was lovely and we took the canoe out every evening. Just so peaceful. There was coffee but no sugar. No dishwasher. Your check in is at 5:00 but the office closes at 4:00 so if you need anything, you have to wait til morning.
Susan (10/5): Love this getaway! - Fabulous location...quiet, scenic...I think it is the perfect getaway! Soaker tub is pretty deep so really tough to.get in and out if for older folk (us - in out mid yo late 70's)

Julie (8/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but the photos displayed were of units with a lake view but ours was much further back.0v - The property was very comfortable beds were extremely comfy and bathrooms were clean. Good value for money Overall the townhouse was clean however the living furniture , couch and chairs were grubby and stained. There was crumbs and dirt under the couch seat cushions. Fireplace didn’t work.
ROGER (3/5): Get another mgt firm to clean the units!! - The cottage was nice but incredibly dirty. We spent the 1st 2 hours upon arrival …cleaning!!! Even the headboards on the beds had half an inch of dust. Spider webs…con webs thru out . All the kitchen utensils had caked on food….how do we get paid for the cleaning the unit…# 49!!
Sandra (6/5): At first glance the cottage looked great, but the filth was a detractor. - Convenient location for a group of 15. Comfortable beds. Great view of Lake. Cottage was filthy. Lower bedroom and stairs had many large dark stains on the carpet. Lower bedroom was missing some slats in the blinds which compromise privacy, drips on the wall behind both nightstands, thick layer of dust on headboard and blind behind bed, stains and marks on walls and musty/mouldy smell. The living room coffee table had rings on the surface from drinks. Living room couch and chair also filthy. No lighting outside, which made walking from cottage to cottage after dark hazardous. Steps down to our cottage appear to be slightly sunken in spots and one stair to our cottage was sloped making walking on these are tripping hazard. Vegetation on the upper part of the property was overgrown. A deep, clean necessary inside the cottage and some maintenance outside.

Debra (4/5): Paid for a Lakeview cottage that was not Lakeview and not cleaned well. Front desk said they would look into a partial - The location was nice and quiet. Beds were comfortable. Toilets were clean. The cottage was falsely listed as Lakeview. We could not see any lake from our cottage at all, just bushes in front of the balcony. The chaise lounge in the living room was stained and disgusting. The kitchen was not cleaned well and the floors were dirty with garbage under the couches. The deck was not swept, and there was sticky spills on the table and chairs. No coffee or filters in the cottage as listed. Someone else’s food left in the freezer.
Galina (9/5): A clean, tranquil stay by the lake - We had a wonderful stay at The Cottages. The units were clean and comfortable, the lake was serene, and the property manager responded promptly to our requests. Overall, a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Don’t let the 5 p.m. check-in deter you—it’s well worth the wait. That said, we were able to check in early by calling ahead on the day. N/A
Catherine (10/5): We have already told our friends and we would stay there again. - This property was extremely clean. It looked rustic on the outside, but more modern on the inside. Everything was well finished the upkeep was awesome for this place. Staff were easy to get a hold of & quite friendly . They were quite accommodating when we needed to check in early because we were going to a wedding. The location is very close to everything.
Jane (10/5): We loved The Cottages — had a memorable five days and will return again next summer! - The spacious comfortable cottage with 2 1/2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen — complete with a large covered deck facing the water. Bullock lake and the dock and boats were fun for my grown daughters each day. And we had a very short drive into Ganges for great shopping, art galleries and restaurants. Love the markets as well and the cheese place. We had a great five days together and loved our stay! I had the bedroom downstairs and it was chilly during the night. Could have used an extra blanket. Couldn’t turn the heat on.
