- Jessica (1/5): Disappointing start due to poor cleanliness, though staff assisted with a room change. - Na The initial room was not cleaned to an acceptable standard and had a strong unpleasant smell. There were visible stains on the curtains, scuff marks on the walls, grime on the cooktop, and noticeable dirt/build-up in the bathroom, particularly around the grout and edges. Due to this, I felt uncomfortable staying in the room and had to request a change, which resulted in additional cost.

Expensive for what it is. - The room was clean The advertising is very deceptive, they show open windows, light and bright but the room has a tiny window into a carpark. It’s dark like a cave, our room smelt like someone had been smoking in it and when we asked if we could move the front desk just said “No” they gave no reason no apologies and no options. It was like now that they had our money they didn’t care. I was disappointed, it’s not a cheap hotel in terms of the money but the way it presents and the staff response to customers it should be way cheaper.

Coffee shop at the ground level offers the best pastries, location is two minutes away from the beach and many more restaurants and cafe's.. I didn't like that it was too comfortable I wanted to stay longer, but I couldn't.

Good if you like caves - I booked our stay at the Ramada by Wyndham VetroBlu Scarborough Beach based on the photos and glowing reviews, but what we got was a completely different experience. We paid a premium price expecting a comfortable, quality room—but instead were placed in what felt like a basement. The window was tiny (around 1 x 1.5 metres) and looked straight out onto the chemist next door. That might’ve been handy if we needed anti-nausea meds, because the smell of old, stale cigarettes in the room was overwhelming. Opening the window didn’t help either, as it only opens about an inch—so there’s really no escaping it. The bathroom was incredibly small—on the bright side, if you lose your balance shaving your legs, there’s nowhere to fall. Honestly, it felt like we’d booked a motor inn on the way to somewhere more exciting, but this was the destination, and I was ready to leave. The most frustrating part? When we raised these issues and asked to move rooms, especially considering how much we paid, we were simply told no. No effort to help, no alternatives offered. Overall, this stay was incredibly disappointing and nowhere near the standard that was advertised. Definitely not worth the price, and not an experience we’d repeat.

- Antje (1/5): - The bed was comfortable The reception staff were uninterested to the point of being rude. THe room was like a grey prison cell. The so called hotel had no charm or atmosphere and the advertised location was not 100m from the beach but 350 on a very noisy and busy road.

Comfortable. - Ramada was in a great location - beds were comfortable and it was perfect for what we needed Walls were a little grimy, unfortunately there was some water issues on the property and we had no water until 6pm. We had been travelling for 8 hours so a hot shower was what we were all looking forward too. Once the water did kick in, first shower was warm for our kids, but the rest of the showers were cold

- Cybula (1/5): Ill never stay there again stunk of mould - have told all my friends - location - the bathroom was clean enough The room stunk like mould - we couldn't put the air-conditioner on as it stunk more like mould - disgusting i asked if we could get the windows unlocked so we could at least open them but we had to shut them again as the street noise was so bad also my friend had her air con on in her room (not in the bedroom as it stunk of mould too) but it centrally turns off at 230am and made loud gurgling noises after that and she could not sleep

For this price range however the rooms could do with some cosmetic improvements. ie. paint job, change carpet and clean/ replace bathroom grouting. Quite a well equipped kitchen if you want to cook. The appliances are good and there is big fridge not a mini which is good. Washing machine and dryer is handy to have. We had a balcony with sea view.

- JKAuckland (8/5): Tidy within touch of windswept Scarborough beach - This is set back 200m from the bench opposite the Rendevous Death Star building. Rooms are neat clean and modern but it can be noisy due to overlooking the intersection of the West Coast Highway. No facilities on site but does have reception and parking. Close to shops. Scarborough Beach can be windy and rough.

The suite, rather than 2 rooms, gave us a better experience. The kitchen had sufficient equipment and it was useful to have access to a laundry.

SW Pool is nice with great loungers to relax and read in the sun . No extractor fan in bathroom. Garden edge around pool needs some attention to enhance area.

The property was nice but our bathroom drains were blocked and the carpet was wet from the overflow into one of the bedrooms. The staff were very nice and helpful. Even though we only stayed for one night, it was still a nice room for the purpose.
- Sean (5/5): Disappointing Stay for the Price - On the positive side, the café downstairs was convenient and the short walk to the beach was great. However, overall, the experience felt expensive for what you actually get. I was quite let down by my recent stay. The bedroom had no window for natural light and only one bedside table, which made the space feel dark and unbalanced. The carpet wasn’t clean and there were visible marks on the walls. The bathroom door handle was coming loose, and the view from the lounge was very poor. I originally thought I was booking a serviced apartment, but the kitchen was only fair and there were no laundry facilities in the room. The Wi-Fi password didn’t work at all. Although “free parking” was advertised, it was open to the public, and the paid parking I booked was given to other guests on two separate occasions. The overall layout of the room was just okay, but certainly not worth the high price.

One bedroom was air conditioned the second wasn’t and super hot. No blockout blinds, so really bright at 5am!! No where to park when you arrive so had to park a long way down the street and run into reception to get keys then lug our bags a long way! Ended up paying for parking under the facilities as was the only way for it to be convenient!

- Lyndsay (9/5): - The room being on the 5th floor had a great view of the beach and it was possible to watch the sunset uninterrupted from the balcony. The booking came with a free upgrade, which must have been an extra room, which I didn't need, but I'm guessing the bigger studios are towards the top, soi the upgrade was fantastic
