• evilping (9/5): With some improvements to the room amenities and facilities, this could easily be a 5* experience - Hotel Astoria has so much going for it, the location is absolutely perfect, just 5 minutes walk from the train station, Chapel Bridge and Lake Lucerne, making it an ideal base for exploring this stunning city and the surrounding mountains. The rooftop bar is a real highlight and the staff were helpful throughout our stay. we did experience a few comfort issues that we feel are worth mentioning for future guests. The bathroom had no door separating it from the bedroom, which affected privacy and comfort. The air conditioning system was quite noisy and unfortunately the main heating was not functioning during our stay, a portable electric heater was provided as a substitute, which was not quite sufficient for a 4-night stay. Storage space was also limited, with only some open shelves near the TV rather than a proper wardrobe.

• Walter Camenisch (8/5): Lovely Hotel in the center of Lucerne - Hotel Astoria is located in the center of Lucerne close to some of the main attractions. Our room was spacious and very clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurants are very nice and offering high quality dishes. The parking lots seem to be quite expensive compared to other locations.

O quarto era espaçoso, confortável e muito silencioso. Distância caminhável da estação central de Luzern. A limpeza não foi das melhores. Muita poeira e tufos de cabelo espalhados pelo quarto.

We were there on a Friday and Saturday and despite changing rooms after night one because the rooftop music kept us awake until 3.30am, the second ‘quiet’ room also had loud music playing until 1.30am. At £280 a night - I was very disappointed.

El desayuno es muy malo. Debo decir que leí comentarios que decían que el desayuno era igual cada día y creí que eran exagerados porque pensé que el desayuno tendría dos o tres opciones qué eran idénticas cada día. Pero es mucho peor, la única opción real de desayuno es huevo (del de caja liquido y apelmazado). Como complementos hay tocino, salchicha y frijoles dulces. Y para colmo un día el tocino estaba completamente quemado (lo cual es cancerígeno). Hay 2 opciones de fruta, yogurt y cereales. Esperaba mucho más del desayuno, no un desayuno básico de hoteles de menor calidad.

Having to pay a 300 Swiss Frank bond even though I had fully paid the accommodation. Internet was poor - dropping out often. Extra charge required on top of breakfast payment for fried eggs, poached eggs or omelettes. No electric kettle supplied and no tea bags, just a coffee pod machine. No refrigerator in room. Two overlapping king single bed covers were put on the king size bed making it difficult to sleep. Shower base was slippery and the raised base was difficult to get over - especially for elderly guests. The shower recess was very small. The shower hose holder was very loose and required one hand on the shower head at all times. Front desk staff were unfriendly and very officious. Did not like being told about the negative things about there room and the payment of the bond. We should have the reviews about this hotel before booking!

Elsőre elég régies szobát kaptunk (képeken nincs feltüntetve), ahol a fűtés sem volt a megfelelő - kis gyerekekkel/babával voltunk. Ez nagyon elvette a kedvünket az elején. Majd reklamálást követően a FOM szobacserét ajánlott fel - olyan szobákat, amik a képeken is szerepelnek, tágasak, igényesek.

• Joelesim (2/5): Shocking service, poor housekeeping, and deeply disappointing management - This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had in recent years. For context, I have a background in hospitality and have previously audited hotels with the Singapore Tourism Board, so I have a clear understanding of service standards. I am also a Singaporean guest of Asian Chinese background, and I found the tone and manner of interaction from staff noticeably harsher and less welcoming than expected. Unfortunately, this property fell far below what I would consider even basic expectations. Upon arrival, the check-in experience was average. However, issues arose shortly after. We encountered an unpleasant interaction with the night manager (Jackson Canfild), who spoke harshly to my brother for casually filming the lobby as a travel vlogger. While he said “please,” the tone came across as unnecessarily stern and unwelcoming. When we entered our room, we discovered dusty floors and, upon checking under the bed, leftover tissues, slippers, and visible dust accumulation. This raised serious concerns about housekeeping standards, especially as my mother is sensitive to dust. We initially considered checking out early but due to early morning travel constraints we opted for a room change the next day. When raising the issue with the morning Front Office Manager/GM, there was no apology whatsoever — instead, he came across as dismissive and arrogant. After changing rooms, the stay was uneventful until the most unacceptable incident occurred on our final day. The night before check-out, we were granted a late check-out until 1 pm by the night manager and he told us he would inform housekeeping. However, the next day, despite clearly placing a Do Not Disturb sign, a hotel staff member knocked aggressively twice and less than two seconds later, he immediately barged into the room while I was in the process of opening the door. This is a serious violation of guest privacy and basic hotel protocol. When this was brought up at check-out, the same Front Office Manager/GM again did not acknowledge the issue, had no accountability and even blamed us for not informing the front desk (despite prior confirmation). Only after repeated confrontation did he reluctantly offer an insincere apology. Overall: - Poor housekeeping standards - Unprofessional and intrusive staff behavior - Management lacking accountability and basic service recovery While the hotel’s restaurants and bars appear visually appealing, the overall property feels cheaply built, dated, and not reflective of its online images. Even the lift was extremely small and inconvenient. I would strongly advise against staying here.

The courtesy, rooms are nice with new bathrooms and furniture. Enough choices for breakfast. There is not a single thing about which I could complain - and I'm staying more that 200 days per year in hotels.
