Guest Reviews
- Stig (8/5): Super beliggenhed - Godt b&b skøn tagteresse, fin morgenmad flot værelse, super beliggenhed, en del støj, meget lydt, venlig betjening.
- Anna (10/5): - Lovely B&B
- lacreperiepp (10/5): lovely place just few steps from the historical centre - i found this place with the help of local Pro Loco and it was a nice surprise!
Elisabetta is a wonderful host and the room, breakfast and location could not be better than that! if i will be back to Gallipoli, i will stay there again!
ho trovato questo posto con l'aiuto della Pro Loco ed e' stata una gradita sorpresa. Elisabetta e' una padrona di casa super, come tutto il resto! Ritornero'!
- savvytravel99 (8/5): Welcoming B&B with spacious rooms near centre of Gallopoli - We chose B&B Vergine i Due Mari partly because we were short of options making a last-minute booking during the peak season. But we struck it lucky with this B&B which offered us a very reasonable deal for the location, a short walk from the old town and Gallipoli’s famous beaches.
The B&B owner Elisabetta was charming and well-informed, giving us plenty of suggestions for places to go nearby after understanding our requirements. The room itself on the top floor was great – spacious with a long internal corridor to the bathroom affording a sense of space and privacy, with the bonus of a little fridge outside.
The only slight downer was the sporadic WiFi on our floor, but even there our hostess helped set us up in the Cafe right next door where we could browse away to our heart’s content. Breakfast was not quite as varied as a few other places we stayed in Puglia, but this was more than compensated by the fact we were able to bring in our own fruit and savoury items to add to the mix; and the kitchen also made an effort to provide extra items and cutlery. They really made an effort.
All in all, a great place to stay in Gallipoli at a decent price.
- JustJonesy (10/5): Perfect! - B&B I Due Mari is operated by a friendly and informative host. The B&B is clean, spacious and it is situated a few steps away from the beautiful historical center of Gallipoli and the beaches.
B&B I Due Mari is definitely a place I would return to and recommend to others.
- kristinak870 (10/5): Wonderful B&B and gracious host! - We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely B&B and would surely return! Elisabetta (Betty) is an amazing host and a wonderful person. She works hard at making sure her guests are relaxed and comfortable. Her attention to detail is apparent, as the B&B is immaculate - very clean and tastefully decorated! We paid 100 euro which we found a little expensive compared to other towns in Puglia, but we had no regrets! The staff was very respectful and breakfast was included. The location was also great, as it is about 10 minutes walking from the old town (straight line) and to the station. Highly recommended!
- Picia (6/5): Rather good - I have beeen in this B6B last week, I payed 70 Euro for a doble bed room, using as a single. Breakfast was comprised in the price. The building is an elegant old palace and the room is nice, with a high floor, I think 5 metres. The forniture is ok and all is clean. But the mattress leaned to the outside so I had to stay in the middle. I didn't know how to close the rolling shutter, I asked to the owner and she kindly told me she would have helped me, but she forgot, and i too forgot to ask again, so I slept with the window opened. There is no awning:-(
The owner, her husband and the ladies were very kind, she helped me to vcarry my luggage and picked me up to the station. The husband picket me up to the bus station for free. The owner offered me a true pasticciotto and a home made crema pasticcera really good. But th elast day I had to go downstairs in the kitchen to ask for fruitsand when I asked a tea they gave me only one tea bag, without any choice. And the first day I had to ask for lemon. I found no whole bread, nether eggs or ham. I had really good warm cornetti and home made tart.
I payed 70 Euro and when my daughter came to stay with me the last two days I payed 85.It's a high price, I think, also having spoken with other tourists. I think it's better to stay in the old city, that is very very nice and typical. This B6B is very nice and elegant, a real bonbonniere, but the modern part of Gallipoli is not nice.
- vingre (8/5): Welcoming, comfortable B&B in a beautiful Italian city - I spent one night in June with my wife and my 18-year old daughter on a visit to Southern Italy. We made the decision to stay in a B&B rather than in a hotel in Gallipoli and we didn't regret our choice. Palazzo Vergine I due Mari was a very pleasant surprise. The location is very convenient. The property is in the modern part of the city but at a walking distance from the historic disctrict where most restaurants, bars and monuments are. It makes parking a much easier issue to deal with, especially in July and August when the city is probably overly congested. The whole building has been fully renovated in a modern / functional style while keeping some features from the past such as very high ceilings. Our room was large, well-equiped (flat TV set but only Italian channels, large closet), very clean and with a good air conditioning system. Although it overlooked the street - that night with a show right across the street - it was very quiet. One small issue: shampoo and soap were not in sufficient quantity. Breakfast was served on the upper floor of the building. Croissants were very good as well as home-made pastries. Several times staff made sure that everything was OK and you could feel that they really wanted us to feel comfortable. Betty, the B&B's owner, assisted us in several ways from booking a table at a local restaurant to recommending a good beach spot. Every time with a smile and a sincere intention to help. The friendly and welcoming attitude of Betty and the staff is one of the strong points of the Palazzo Vergine I due Mari that I would not hesitate recommending to other travellers.
- MST64 (8/5): Beautiful B&B - The owner, Betty, is very kind, always helpful and thoughtful. We enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms are spacious. Beautiful view from the terrace where we had breakfast with home made pastry. Great location : close to the historic centre, little harbour, shops, and restaurants. Grazie mille Betty!
