• Mark (6/5): - The cottage did NOT have a coffeemaker and the kitchenette consisted of a dorm fridge with a microwave on top of it in a cutout next to the closet. But the cottage was clean and the shower has great water pressure. Location is convenient to Acadia national park and other towns to visit. We went to Walmart and purchased a coffee maker!

• Ravinder (8/5): - Reason I won't give them a higher rating is lack of amenities. Property was very clean and well maintained. But they can definitely provide for better toiletries, a coffee machine, paper napkins etc.! Also, my major complain is on WIFI. Since the property is outside Bar harbor, reception (AT&T and T-mobile) was really bad. And, WIFI was almost non-existent. It was extremely frustrating for my husband who wanted to work and for my son who wanted to watch some Netflix.

• Patti (10/5): - The owners were very sweet and attentive. They allowed us to stay an extra hour past their normal check out time. I would definitely stay there again. The only downfall is that the property sits beside a main road with a lot of traffic.

• Kayla (10/5): A great one night stay - Room was cozy and clean, decorated so cutely, and perfect for a one-night stay. It is close to Acadia, and a little farther from downtown bar harbor, which was a plus for us. Very quiet an quaint.

• Kim (8/5): - Sunnyside was cute and exactly what we needed for a couple night stay while visiting Acadia National Park. The staff were very kind and welcoming, the room was as described, and the exterior is adorable. We just docked it a bit because the walls are thin - we could easily hear our neighbors and their TV through the walls. Thankfully, we were usually too tired for these things to bother us, but if you're a light sleeper or easily disturbed this is something to consider. Also, our heater when we turned it on smelled - it likely hadn't been turned on yet for the season, but we turned it off because it smelled so strongly and then were very cold at night. Overall, if you're on a budget and just looking for a place to stay, would recommend.

• Jackie (8/5): - We had a fantastic stay at the Sunnyside Motel & Cottages! The manager is so sweet and helpful and very accommodating with our late arrival due to travel delays. We had a room, not a cottage. It was very clean and comfortable. The only thing I would mention is that there is a refrigerator, but no microwave or coffee maker. Overall, for the price, I would definitley stay here again.

• Peixian (10/5): Thank you for hosting, Helen! - I stayed a total of four nights. The place was very clean and quiet (my room was towards the back), though the motel was full. I did not rent a car, there were two shuttle pick-up spots within walking distance. In the evening, shuttle drivers would drop me off right by the property when I gave them advanced notice. Very conveniently located. Helen (the owner) is very nice and shared interesting story and useful trip information of the area. I enjoyed my stay there.
• George (2/5): - Good things: The bed was comfy. The room was cleaned well every day with new towels. The heat/ air conditioner worked well. The parking was very convenient. Unfortunate things: Communication was poor. Once when we went to the office, there was nobody at the desk, and though we waited nobody came out. Another time, after waiting someone did appear from the back. We didn’t feel very welcome. The phone in our room didn’t work. The internet spotty was not a secure connection. We could only use the laundry before 8:00 pm, but we never did find the laundry. There was no microwave or coffeemaker in room, which we missed. Coffee was available only in the office after 8 am. The sink stopper did not work.

• Isabella (10/5): - The cottage was very cute, very convenient. The owners are very nice and offer coffee in the morning in the office! Room was cute, clean and quiet. The only complain is that the shower was very tiny, but that’s it!! Loved my stay, thank you :)
• Robert (8/5): - The room I had was older, but had a charm about it. However, it did not have many plugs in which to charge devices. The area was very quiet, which is good. However, one would need a car as it is about 10 miles away. There was a bbq grill, a pool and a laundry room. I can’t comment on these as I did not use them.

• Joan (8/5): Sunnyside Cottages - It was a cute cottage with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a little front porch! All we needed since I wasn’t coooking! The couple who owned it were adorable ! I felt bad for them because they could find no help so they had to clean the cottages themselves!

• Roberta (6/5): - I had made reservations here because it looked great online and I wanted to stay in a cabin. When I got there, I was given a room in the motel part which is right on the busy road. Too noisy for me as I’m a light sleeper and even with windows closed I could hear the cars go by (and I like sleeping with windows open. It also has a slight smell of mold which I’m allergic to. So I had to leave. The woman who owns it with her husband was very sweet though and I hope I didn’t hurt her feelings.

A couple runs the property with no staff so no room cleanup. It was clean when we arrived but be prepared for no amenities. A no frills place!

• Delia (10/5): - We really loved the cabin at Sunnyside! It was very clean! The kitchenette was very convenient and we used the grill they had available!!! I only wish their WiFi was more reliable as we couldn’t get a signal inside the cabin. As for being on the Island Explorer line, you had to walk down Rte 3 to the Oceanarium to get it. Not super convenient and kinda scary!! Overall, we loved it and would stay again!!

I was told that the cabins didn't have AC so we got the motel room turned out the cabins had AC we would have taken the cabin over the room. Was a nice property. rooms outlets should be updated was a struggle charging phone's. Laundry on site bring quarters
• Guzel (10/5): - It is a nice place to stay. We liked the pool, the rooms were clean and well maintained. Make sure you check with the owners if you want the room with AC. Our cottage didn’t have one, but we were not in the room in the day time, and nights were not hot- so it worked out. Also, WI-FI is hit or miss- not reliable. The only thing i would do next time is to bring my own towels - as the towels in the rooms are worn out and has some smell to them.

• Kathryn (8/5): Great Place to Stay to be Off the Grid - After a series of one-night stays on a road trip from MI to MA, we stayed in ME for 3 nights to visit Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Sunnyside is at the tip of Mount Desert Island. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The pool was literally outside our back door. Our hosts, Helena and Richard, are lovely folk. The only caveat is the internet service. It was largely nonexistent during our stay. The owners are aware and were diligently working to correct the issue when last we spoke. We would stay again if in the area if the internet becomes reliable.
• Joe (8/5): - We have stayed here several times. It’s becoming a little out dated but is still a good place to stay. We stayed in the motel this time and found it could have used more outlets for cell chargers and such. Wi-Fi signal was pretty weak, no in room coffee, and no microwave. These are all petty things but could be improved on. Still a good value for the money 10 minutes from Acadia.

• Cynthia (6/5): Nothing fancy but the bed was comfortable. - Just the bare necessities. No microwave in the room but they did have a fridge, no ice machine. We were expecting a cottage, but got a motel room instead.
• Gemma (10/5): - My experience was great. Right from the time I booked the room, Helen reached out inquiring if my arrival will be after 9 pm. (I'm sure she does this for all the guests). When I did respond, on the day off, she called and checked with instructions on how to enter the room. When I got lost and called her after 9pm, she answered the phone in a friendly way and helped me find the hotel. Throughout my stay, she was pleasant and approachable. I did not meet her husband, but I did take the coffee he brewed. That was excellent coffee. Thank you both!!!

The owners were very welcoming and gave us great advice about where to go around the island. The service is unbeatable as well and they go the extra mile to make sure your stay is clean and comfortable. Also a very convenient drive to Acadia. Definitely would stay here again when we come back to Bar Harbor.

• Erma (8/5): Nice for the rate - The Owners were very friendly. Although paying was difficult, they have 1 phone line, and it took 6 times for my payment to be processed without a call coming in to cancel the transaction. And Wifi was very low and kept dropping. Our room was clean but had a musty smell and the window A/C took a day and half to cool the room.
• Roger (10/5): - Place was super clean and just far enough outside of the park to get away from the craziness while also being able to experience Bar Harbor and all of MDI. It’s run by an older couple and they are just as pleasant as they can be. Will probably stay here from now on. Also, not many people use their pool so it was nice to get some alone time at it. Very nice pool.
• KEQI (8/5): Nice Cottage - It was very nice to get a call from the owner around 8 pm as we were sitting at Mt. Cadillac to watch the sunset. She told us to enjoy ourselves and gave the number of our cottage. So we stayed a bit late, then went for dinner, and final back to the hotel. The hotel is not at the center of Bar Harbor but rathe 10 miles away on the roadside. It was comfortable for us to stay and even has a little kitchenette. No A/C was needed even in the middle of summer.

• Meagan (8/5): - The room was large, clean, and the property is well cared for. The owners are on site 24/7 and were friendly and hospitable. Our room was at the front of the property and faced the road, so there was a fair amount of noise from the road. But it looks like most of the rooms are further away and would not hear the road as much. The mattresses were very firm. Ample, convenient parking—we had a spot right next to our room. We’d stay there again.

• Diana (10/5): - Words cannot even begin to describe the hospitality of this lovely couple who own and manage this little gem. W we were welcomed in to a cute little cottage. It was clean and had all that we needed just as described. The owners, being short handed due to the economy, manager it all themselves and take pride in doing so. We ended up staying an extra night! This delightful couple, Robert and Helena, will relish you with stories. They came from Poland in the early 70s with $10 in their pocket. He built this property. I’m not sure how many rooms there are but there is a small motel and maybe 10 cottages. They can tell you the best spots to see a sunset or the best place to eat lobster. We would definitely recommend this place. Thank you Robert and Helena for a wonderful place to stay.

• HAO (4/5): - No room cleaning because of covid. Do laundry yourself before 8pm. No microwave in the room. Small refrigerator with broken pieces. One of the lamps not working. Uncomfortable bed. Will definitely choose other places next time
