Guest Reviews
- lucia (10/5): - Struttura accogliente, staff cordiale, ottima pulizia.
- Hande (9/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Dar Al Walidine. A special thanks to Amina for being such a helpful host; she organized our daily transport to the city center as well as organizing day trips to the Ourika Valley and the Agafay Desert. Both excursions were well-planned, comfortable, and truly memorable.
The Riad’s location is ideal—close enough to the Medina to explore easily, but tucked away in a quiet area for a good night’s rest. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the Wi-Fi is reliable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Marrakech!
- Jayla (10/5): Beautiful Riad owned by an amazing family, Yasmine was phenomenal and so helpful! She called us a taxi everyday, booked -
- Diogo Alexandre (7/5): - A decoração bastante bonita Pequeno almoço demorado e pouco variado
- Adam (10/5): Bra personal och bra service. -
- IRTXE (8/5): -
- Nikolai (10/5): - Everything was nice and comfortable. Just a few minutes away from all tourist attractions
- Hedi (8/5): Very good - Loved the location, everything was very clean. The staff was amazing and very helpful
- Jeta (9/5): The best riad in Marrakech - The hospitality of the owners and staff was amazing, they were very caring and always ready to help. The property was beautiful and very clean. The location was good, because it was in a quiet area and less polluted. The only thing were the pillows that were too high for our preference and the food there was a bit overpriced, but still delicious.
- Amoah (6/5): We were mostly out doing activities but I loved the owners of the place , the mom and daughter Jasmine were amazing - The Owners were very friendly We had an issue with our room and had a very bad stench from the bathroom something to do with the pipes
- Dawn (7/5): Nice people, we appreciated the host rising early to make breakfast when we did an organised trip. - A nice traditional Riad with character away from the busy centre but easily walkable with a lovely breakfast The shower lacked power and there are no tea or coffee making facilities or any additional drinking water available except that offered on arrival which we really missed. The rooms were quite noisy unfortunately, you hear other guests especially the doors so we didn’t sleep well, however, I think this is quite typical of local Riads. Bring ear plugs and you will be fine.
- Caitlin (9/5): Beautiful Riad, lovely hosts! <3 - The property was beautiful and was full of Moroccan charm! The pool was freezing at this time of year but clean and good for a cold plunge :) the room itself was beautiful and cleaned daily with fresh towels & toilet roll. The breakfast provided was very nice & the staff were helpful and very welcoming. My personal favourite thing about Dar Al Walidine was the resident pup, Samba, who was also very friendly and lovely. Our only issue with the property was the lack of windows in our room - everyone else seemed to have a balcony/ window but unfortunately we didn’t have one of those rooms. Beautiful stay though nevertheless.
- Ututalum (10/5): Highly recommended place to stay. - The staff and owner of the place were very welcoming and accomodating. She made sure that all their guests were taken care of and safe. Breakfast were homemade and served fresh which we always look forward to! Location is outside the busy streets of Medina which was good! I love everything about our stay. Made it all worthwhile.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - A personal touch.. mint tea on arrival. Fantastic breakfast.
Quiet tranquil place just outside the city walls. Lovely plunge pool and area to relax after day of strolling around the souks. Short walk to all the main sites.
Staff happy to give advice and suggestions on places to visit.
Gave us an early breakfast on the morning we left for our desert trip.
- Yolina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oluwarantimi (8/5): Just normal every one still had fun tho… please change you money and make sure you buy ur groceries it is complete rip o - It was spacious and in a good location but quiet nice for pictures too they gave breakfast every morning ( not always different) The headboards were dusty, no Tv in rooms the poolside chair/soafer very dirty cant even sit on it.
- Paulina (9/5): Superb - It is really beautiful place. I can recommend everyone to stay here 😘 Mustafa and Owner were really good for us
- Isabella-rose (1/5): I do not recommend staying here. - Breakfast was unimpressive. I did not receive breakfast on my last day as I had to check out early to catch my flight. The rooms were incredibly noisy, I didn’t sleep well once during my stay. The rooms were not clean. The location of the property was not good. I was told that a taxi had been organised to take me to the train station and it never arrived. I was also charged exorbitantly for these transfers.
- Simi (7/5): Good - Very tranquil being just outside the medina and lovely pool area. Staff were extremely lovely - especially Mustapha - who made our stay. Breakfast was lovely and best Moroccan tea we had! The shower/toilet were in centre of room with little privacy. Lunch was very overpriced. Air-con was dripping water onto bed and ice chips fell out during night onto bed. Would recommend getting a Hammam elsewhere - was not very relaxing.
- Alessandro (8/5): Very good - We really enjoyed our stay!
Staff was lovely (special thanks to Mustapha), food was very good.
Room was always clean and tidy.
Swimming pool area was kept clean too.
Surrounding area is very quiet, 5 minute walk from one of the entrance of the Medina.
- Giacomo (4/5): Disappointing - The style of the accomodation was nice, both inside and outside. Unluckily, there were way too many issues. Every day something came up, which made our stay feel very bad. The staff was nonexistent, it was truly hard to find or to contact any of the staff for help or to ask questions. Starting from the breakfast, it starts purposely way late in the morning, so people do not get it because they have excursions to do. We had only 1 toilet paper roll, which was not replaced daily, and again no one to get in touch to get it. The daily room cleaning was done. Now the WORST part, after we specifically asked for new towels, we found out at the end of the day, that they just rolled the once we already used! It was shocking, there was the same make-up stain that my girlfriend did the day before. There was no fridge in the room as well. The area where the building is located is in a 3rd world zone, you cannot walk, and you must take a taxi every single time. Other than that, the prices for the accommodation were way higher than the things offered. There are no services, and the ones offered, are literally 10 times more expensive than every other provider in the city.
- Guillaume (8/5): Great stay in a family friendly environment - Great environment, the riad is rather small making you feel close to the other guests while allowing enough privacy. Very kind staff making you feel like home. Close to the Medina, but still far from the areas of interest.
Lacking a few equipment in the room (hairdryer,...). The toilet in the bedroom was not giving enough privacy.
- John (8/5): 7 night stay Dar Al Waladine. - Dar Al Waladine offers a much needed sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. The riad is well laid out with fantastic decor and good facilities.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
Mustaffa was an absolute star, helping us with issues beyond his responsibility with courtesy & politeness.
The swimming pool was kept immaculately clean. Our room had stunning views across to the Atlas mountains. Unfortunately the area almost directly outside the grounds of the riad is the equivalent of a "landfill". This is very obviously a council problem, and needs to be addressed for the sake of the locals.
We left early {4.00 am} on the day of our departure. A taxi had been arranged by Yasmine at the riad, but did not turn up. Once again Mustaffa came to our rescue, helping us with baggage so that a private taxi could be waved down on the main road 5mins walk. from the riad. Disaster averted!
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Staff were very helpful and nice!
- Isabella (9/5): Home away from home - Amazing staff, made us feel at home and were always there to help if needed. Looked after me when i fell sick. The hotel was very beautiful. You are able to get help from the staff really quickly.
- Anas (10/5): Very pleased with my stay, i definetly will be back for a longer visit in the future. - Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff, the room was well equipped and comfortable. everything about the riad was exceptionnal.
- Nikolai (4/5): Clearly below expectations; we would not recommend it. - The only thing we liked was the breakfast and the very kind service of the staff servicing it. Unfortunately, despite the fact, that the breakfast is included in the price, we got it only 3 times (out of 7) as it was served only after 8.30 -9.00 - so you either have breakfast or some other program for the day. There is even no coffee offered before 8.30. The location is very bad - looking at the city map the impression is that it is close to the Medina. In fact, you can walk from the touristic part of the Medina within ca. 30 min. but you have to cross very poor, stinky and unpleasant areas of the Medina; after the 2nd day of our stay we were coming back to the hotel by taxi.
The hotel is a family owned business and the management is very weak. There is no reception, when you need some support you don‘t get it. Several days we did not see anybody from the staff except for the ladies servicing the breakfast; the prices offered by the hotel for taxi are double compared to other providers, e.g. booking.com; when available, the owners were not very guest friendly and even provided misleading information - e.g. when leaving the hotel we were asking about additional due payments and we got the information that everything is settled; 3 hours later when our son was leaving, he was asked to pay some still due amounts.
In terms of cleanliness there is definitely room for improvement - e.g. we found clothes belonging to previous guests in one of the drawers. The furniture is good but not well maintained - drawers not opening or falling apart, etc.
- Ines (8/5): Very good -
- Mane (10/5): I love the food, the staff - It was one of the best hotels I've ever been to. My husband and I were treated very well. nothing
- Cecilie (8/5): Very good - pillows were to high and hard, otherwise really good!
- Laoise (9/5): beautiful house, lovely people made us feel really cared for despite language barrier❤️ - the staff were so lovely. Made us feel so welcome would love to see them again. pool was really cold- great for hot summers but too cold for us in March
- Alya (9/5): Superb - The coziness of the place and the owners.
- Mario (10/5): Pleasant Riad with excellent staff - Very well cleaned and tidy daily. Extremely careful and friendly staff with enormous willingness to help with tours, transfers, guides and activities. Be sure to order the typical Moroccan breakfast egg. In addition to the wonderful indications from Yasmine who took the trouble to call the locals to find out if we had arrived safely.
- Anonymous (9/5): Stress free - Great family run Riad. Yasmine and her parents where most helpful for our first stay in Marrakesh. Yasmine recommended and booked on our behalf several restaurants, golf courses and hammam for our stay. We were very grateful for this as it took away any hassle and made our marrakesh experience one we will remember. The riad it’s self was superb, beautifully decorated and a perfect location just outside the Modena. We had our own car and could park at the riad stress free. We would recommend this riad to anyone.
- Luigi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hanizah (9/5): Amazing! - The ambiance, the hospitality and the location. The property is nice and amazing. none
- Khaoula (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast was beautiful and traditional everything was clean, the owner was so nice, great hospitality made us feel home, also the pool area makes you feel like you’re in Thailand
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - staffs where very friendly and polite.
- Uma (10/5): - I absolutely enjoyed staying at this place .. beautiful palace .. with super friendly stuff , authentic Moroccan food and interior design. If you want to be close to everything and have amazing stay this place is for you . Mr Khalid the owner , his wife and daughter, are super kind and caring. They speak English and French fluently, so you will not have a problem with communication . Mr Khalid or his wife can drive you from and to the airport if you need a ride . Overall I had an amazing experience! Definitely going back there soon .. wishing them all the Gods wonderful blessings.
Uma
- Nathalie (8/5): - The Riad Dar Al Walidine is very beautiful and extremely clean
The personnel of the Riad was just amazing. They offered us a service at anytime without any charge. We felt so blessed ! In addition they are so helpful available and flexible with the time, specially with the dinner or the swimming pool. By the way they cook very well. You guys must try the “lamp tajine”!
Negative points :
The Riad is located in the bad area so sometimes it is hard to find a taxi driver to take you back to the Riad.
The breakfast is only sweet. I suggest something salty as well !
The food are too expensive.
In our room we didn’t have a door in the rest room and the shower was terrible without any privacy in the middle of the rooms.
In conclusion we spent a very good time in this Riad but some point must be fixed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A charming venue with a lovely wholesome family feel. Anything we needed was accommodated immediately. Interior and layout of the property was beautiful and the food was great too. We had one small issue with the room and the manager kindly offered us an upgrade with no charge which was very sweet.
- Ingrid (10/5): Little gem - delightful! - Very beautiful Riad with welcoming owners. We were treated with respect and given access to all facilities. Great quality bed - very comfortable and very clean bedding. Rooms are spacious with a large bathroom. Riad is in a peaceful area - a little isolated - so taxi or car needed but great for couples. Tasty good quality traditional breakfast with fresh produce. Transport to airport just 200MAD. We loved every moment of our stay and will definitely return.
- Russell (10/5): Highly recommended - Great location, friendly staff, top marks.
- Raj (10/5): - I cannot reccomend Riyaad Dar Al Walidine enough.
Our room, the lobby and pool area were beatutiful, clean and spacious.
the hosts were so lovely and helpful, from organising transfers, tours and dinner options.
I would come back here without hesitation.
It was also lovely being outside of the hustle and bustle of the medina, and having a little oasis to come home to.
- Jayson (10/5): - Very modern riad, lovely decor that offers a good mix of traditional rooms with modern touches such as swimming pool and motorized blinds in the dining room. This property exceeded my expectations from the photos. The owner was a lovely lady and catered to customers' requests such as printing boarding passes.
You will need a taxi to restaurants or shops which is easy to do. I will come back to this property.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Service not up to Mark; Expensive food - They didn't have hot water first day. we had to shower in freezing cold water. They said they would fix, but never checked back with us. We had dinner at the Riad one night. Food was good, but very expensive. Suggest you eat out instead. They hadn't cleaned the dining area until 8:30 am next day. Had left all the dirty plates and dishes on the table
- Eva (10/5): Jem of a find - Very friendly and helpful, you just feel like staying with family members. Very quiet location but within close proximity of city and all the chaos of souks,ie within 10 minutes walking distance.Definetly recorded!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Terrible hotel and service in the middle of nowhere!
- Ayse (8/5): - Wifi was not working, it looks like the pictures. Clean and good breakfast
- Dominic (8/5): - Excellent breakfast and great service from the staff who were friendly and attentive. A little far from the centre but still possible to walk as long as you don't mind getting lost in the medina. Plunge pool looks good- too cold to use it when I was there.
- Jessica (4/5): The real review - I was completely uncomfortable the last day of my stay where the staff of the hotel retaliated and made our stay uneasy because of they thought we wrote a bad review and didn’t want to pay for our stay. They served us cold food, kept knocking on our door with multiple people in our faces late at night, peeking through the room window where they can clearly see us, moving furniture at 3 am while we were trying to sleep and became disrespectful with their words and unprofessional, and over charged us to the point we left hours earlier before check out. upon check in I told them a few amenities weren’t working and they had yet to attempt to fix the problems during the course of our three night stay. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless it’s a quick in and out stay or if they fix the shower pressure, ac, and the foul smell of the pipes. As they are renovating and adding a top floor it gets noisy. The riad is a beautiful place but location is about 15 mins away from the old Médina and not one can knew the address of the hotel. It was hard getting back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely staff - Amazing stay staff was very friendly they always provided us with what we needed. The rooms were always clean and tidy.
- Windslayer (8/5): Friendly and helpful - This is a family run Riad. The family and staff are really friendly and helpful, offering advice in this different world of Marrakech. For us the Riad is not in the best position as it is not in the Médina but outside and opposite side to the main attractions. This means you either have to run the gauntlet of the less touristic areas and heavy uncomfortable badgering from the locals or catch taxis and learn how to barter with the drivers pretty quickly. It is also placed on a building site with building going on itself.
- sma (10/5): Owner was very helpful - Room is great and the riad is beautiful. We had to leave at 2:30am in order to catch our early flight. The owner was nice enough to wake up to make sure the car+driver we had booked to the airport had arrived and to see us off.
Note that the riad is not right at the curb of the street, but as of this writing, is set about 20-30 metres back from the curb. Taxis may have trouble locating the building in this new development area. Just a note of caution.
- Dewi (10/5): Beautiful - Enough can’t be said about the staff, hotel and efforts afforded to my girlfriend and I whilst staying at this establishment.
The highlight must be the attentiveness the owners and staff afforded us as a couple from the moment we arrived to our departure. The efforts the owners went to for my girlfriend on her birthday we won’t forget.
For anybody looking to get away and have that special touch I would recommend.
Thank you for such a memorable stay and were most grateful for the excellent cuisine, attention to detail and advice in all our requests. You will be hard fetched to find such hosts anywhere, certainly is a family I will remember as people and as hoteliers. Top effort and thank you. XXXX
- Patrick (10/5): Home away from home! - Wonderful hotel where they treat you like family. Hotel is exactly like the pictures. Food was wonderful and it was nice to come back to friendly faces everyday. Close enough to the Medina ($5 taxi anywhere you want to go). Tile work in the hotel is esquisite. Owners were very helpful in booking excursions and giving great tips to help make for the best stay
- AK (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this Riad. It is within walking distance from Medina.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value accommodation - Grand accommodation near to Marrakesh old medina. It is within the walking distance from the most destinations in old medina.
